1 It is not incorrect to say that more police are needed in Charlotte and other soft on crime municipalities. Staffing is the root cause, though. None of the places with bad DAs and judges are able to increase police force levels to reach their target. Potential law enforcement officers have a variety of choices for workplaces. Not enough good new ones will choose cities that don’t support cops to replace attrition. Places like Charlotte are left understaffed and often have to hire and retain folks that good places would never consider.

6 You don't need to put *everyone* in jail. Just keep the dangerous and violent perps in there, rather than letting them walk free on bail.
