3 I think the IDF is hoping that breaking the back of Hamas in Gaza City will lead to
1. Hamas willing to partially disarm and
2. allow forces to take control in the south and central Gaza. Forces that are Egyptian trained and UAE financed (but which are really PA thugs).

even if this 'worked' it isn't a very good solution
