#1 Quite right. We can’t have animals accustomed to killing people running around looking for more of us to play with.

Never been to the long haul inner city bus barn, eh?

#2 I don’t understand the question, Skidmark.

#3 She offers a word to the wise
To take note of their buffalos' size
Before tanning their hides
While defunding the guides,
Or it won't be just Buffy that cries.

#4 "animals accustomed to killing people"?

What the fuck?

It's a COW.
It's not a rabid dog.

#5 It was a Cape buffalo that hunted a man and killed him. Look it up. This species is not anything like our gentle, brown-spotted Bossie who walks into the barn every day at 4 pm to await being milked.

#6 Sorry for my lack of clarity, TW.

I meant to suggest there ARE animals accustomed to killing people running around masquerading as people.

#7 A very dangerous animal indeed. Professional hunters and farmers will argue that it may be the most dangerous African of species. Watkins knew the risks and accepted them.

#8 Consider, McCoy, ["Oy!"] a cow
To make African critters cry "Ow!",
A Hard-Hearted Hannah
Who ran the savannah
["Ya herd me?"] from Ice Age to now.

#9 It's a COW.

It is a flavor of Cow, which is to say, a large animal made of meat. Meaty animals are considered tasty by carnivores. In response, meaty animals have evolved to be either shy, quick, or mean. The Cape buffalo has chosen mean for its strategy and is rather good at it.

#10 Another example is the gaur, a TIGER (!) killing variety of bovine that has been described as one on the most dangerous (perhaps pronounced unpredictable) animal on the face of the earth…several YT videos available.

I still marvel at the thought of Native American’s taking down bison with bows when seeing those magnificent creatures up close and personal.

#12 Tell me you've never worked cattle without telling me you've never worked cattle.

I'd wager Vermaak Safari doesn't just take anyone out, never mind on a Cape Buffalo hunt. I'd imagine the guide gets a say in it as well.

Whether Watkins was good or not, he was experienced enough to know what he was getting into. Want to go to the plate against Randy Johnson, just know you might be the bird.

#13 Man vs. Cow, a Nature Doc-umentary

"As deadly as sharks on a reef
To a whale's carcass also is beef
To the body of Man
With his blubbery can...
Or at least this was once our belief."

Nuking leftover carne de res tamale as I type.

#14 Should have never tried to milk it.

#15 I still marvel at the thought of Native American’s taking down bison with bows when seeing those magnificent creatures up close and personal.

Imagine the size of the wolves which hunted them. Laura Ingalls Wilder mentioned something about it in her books; IIRC there was a segment when their home was under siege. Must have been like Wargs.

#16 P2K, maybe in Canada and places with mountains, mesas, and buttes but in the plains of west KS and a few other states, it’s you and them on a level playing field…

A fine example of those folks working smarter not harder but I would doubt the folks killing for food back then would run off scarcely more than they could carry.
