...Keep in mind that at least once, the Bundestag transferred money for environmental cleanup and other green projects into the military budget and then claimed they had increased the defense budget and why weren't those annoying Americans happy with that?

#6 Germany thinks there military is full of nazis, and only serves as a training ground for far right lunatics. They are not in favor of expanding the military.

They like very much the situation they have now: America foots the bill for their defense and they return the favor with open contempt for us.

#7 There were consecutive German generals serving as the USAREUR Chief of Staff. I don't know about now, though. I'm sure their visits to the SCIF were interesting.
