#2 Legally freed two years earlier with the Emancipation Proclamation, but took until June 19, 1865 for the word and enforcement get to the far reaches of Texas.
Slavery continued to be legal in Delaware and Kentucky until December 18, 1865, when the 13th Amendment took effect (I wonder if Joe's ancestors - or even Joe? - held on to theirs to the end...)
And slavery still continued to be legal in the Indian Nations of Oklahoma until treaties were enacted in 1866.

#3 Eldest asked me just what in the English language Juneteenth meant, explained all that, and was asked if they have a Hallmark card yet.

Not saying it isn't an important event, its just so sloppily put out there, and should be when the very last of the slaves were freed instead of these DE, KY, OK ones left forgotten.

#4 As for Joe, he is the policy face of the largest flesh trade event in history; got 30 million chattel stacked from the keel to the deck in hotels and garages across the nation because, being mined for votes and gov money laundering, and to concise quote those politicians selling a good face on it, "Who else will wash our dishes and take care of our lawn?"
