To his credit, I have had the excellent pot roast at his eatery,
starting with a bowl of brine cucumbers and finishing with
a biscuit mountain of strawberry shortcake and a Bookers.

3 Ted Turner managed a Braves game as the owner of the team

Ted Turner was the last owner to manage a game in baseball, stepping into the Braves' dugout when the team was on a 16-game losing streak.

Did you know Ted Turner fired the manager of the Atlanta Braves and appointed himself as the replacement during a 16-game losing streak in 1977?

He had only bought the team the year prior.

He only managed one game before the National League told him he couldn't do that.

"They must have put that rule in yesterday," Turner told the Washington Post the next day.

"If I'm smart enough to save 11 million to buy the team, I ought to be smart enough to manage it."

The Braves lost two to one to the Pirates.

Turner founded WTBS, which is known worldwide as TBS, and CNN, the first 24-hour cable news channel.

Other ventures included spending time as the owner of the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Hawks, and the Atlanta Thrashers.

He passed away today at 87 years old.
