Man gets 28 years in plot to behead conservative blogger
2017-12-20
[Ynet] A Massachusetts man convicted of conspiring to behead a conservative blogger on behalf of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group has been sentenced to 28 years in prison.

David Wright
....who is also named as David Daoud Wright. At the time of his arrest he weighed 500 lb and lived with his mother, possibly in the basement...
was convicted in October of plotting with his uncle
...that would be Osamaah Abdullah Rahim or Usaama Rahim, beloved brother of a Saudi-trained imam and object after his death (at the hands of the nice policeman he was trying to knife) of a Black Lives Matter protest and halal BBQ in Ferguson, MO. He was all of two years older than his nephew, and clearly just as useless...
and a Rhode Island man

to kill New York resident Pamela Geller, who upset Moslems when she organized a Prophet Muhammad cartoon contest in Garland, Texas. The beheading plot was never carried out.

Prosecutors say Wright also wanted to commit other attacks in the U.S. and encouraged his uncle to kill coppers.

Wright insists he was living in a fantasy world and never really supported the Islamic State group. The 28-year-old's attorneys had asked for a 16-year sentence.

Prosecutors and Geller wanted Wright to get life in prison.
It should be noted that Islamic State recruiter Junaid Hussain communicated instructions about the plot to kill Geller directly to Rahim from overseas in May 2015. Hussain was killed in a US drone strike in Syria in August 2015.

Trial opens for final American in Islamic State-linked police beheading plot

[Ynet] A Massachusetts man charged with plotting to behead coppers in an effort to help Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. was due in court on Wednesday for the start of his trial on charges including conspiracy to commit acts of terrorism.

Federal prosecutors charge that the man, David Daoud Wright,
...who is in our archives as David Wright, along with several other David Wrights who were of interest to us before 2015...
along with his uncle and a friend, had first plotted to kill the woman who organized a 2015 "Draw Mohammed" contest in Garland, Texas. But they contend Wright's uncle, Osamaah Abdullah Rahim,
...in our archives as Usaama Rahim, beloved brother of a Saudi-trained imam and object after his death of a Black Lives Matter protest and halal BBQ in Ferguson, MO. He was all of two years older than his nephew, and no doubt just as useless...
lost patience and in June 2015 told Wright and the third man that he instead planned to kill coppers.

Law enforcement had been monitoring communications between the three and overheard the threat, prosecutors said. When police approached Rahim in a Boston supermarket parking lot to question him, he drew a large knife and officers shot him dead.
More from the Daily Mail, along with the usual photos:
David Wright is accused of conspiring with his uncle and a third man to kill Pamela Geller, a conservative blogger with is anti-Islam.

At his trial on Wednesday, Wright's attorneys sought to portray the the defendant as a lost young man who had poor judgment but is not a criminal. He weighed more than 500 pounds, lived with his mother and had no career when he planned the murder said Wright's attorney. The defense attorney went on to argue that in the online world of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group, Wright found acceptance and an escape.

Wright also wanted to carry out other attacks in the U.S. and encouraged his uncle to kill coppers according to officials.

Wright, of Everett, is charged with obstruction of justice, conspiring to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization and conspiring to commit acts of terrorism transcending national boundaries. The latter charge carries a penalty of life in prison.

Wright encouraged his uncle to attack police and die a 'martyr,' instructing him to destroy his cellphone and wipe all the data from his computer said Siegmann.

Authorities say Rahim received instructions about the plot to kill Geller from Junaid Hussain, an Islamic State member and hacker who was later killed in an Arclight airstrike in Syria. Prosecutors say that Rahim then passed along Hussain's instructions to Wright.

Wright told another person online that he was one of dozens of Islamic State fighters in the U.S. who were ready to act according to Siegmann. The person Wright was chatting with was secretly working for the FBI and is expected to testify later in the trial.
Another one who unknowingly confesses all to the FBI.
The third man, Nicholas Rovinski of Warwick, Rhode Island pleaded guilty in September to conspiracy charges and faces a sentence of between 15 and 22 years.

Boston beheading apprentice planned advanced home course study
2015-06-04
A knife-wielding man killed by the terror investigators who had him under surveillance was confronted because he had bought knives and talked of an imminent attack on "boys in blue," the FBI said Wednesday.
Definitely suicide by cop...
Usaama Rahim, 26, plotted for at least a week to attack police, the FBI said in a complaint against a family member who was arrested Tuesday, the day Rahim was shot to death. On Wednesday, David Wright, who authorities say is Rahim's nephew, was ordered held on a charge of conspiracy with intent to obstruct a federal investigation.

The FBI said Rahim, who had previously discussed beheadings, bought three fighting knives and a sharpener on or before May 26 and he told 24-year-old Wright on Tuesday he would begin trying to randomly kill police officers.

An affidavit written by an FBI agent assigned to Boston's Joint Terrorism Task Force refers to a recorded conversation between Rahim and Wright in which Wright made a comparison to "thinking with your head on your chest." The FBI said that was a reference to Islamic State propaganda videos showing severed heads on the chests of beheading victims.

The FBI affidavit said Rahim initially told Wright about a plan to behead someone outside Massachusetts. On Sunday, Rahim, Wright and an unidentified man met on a beach in Rhode Island to "discuss their plans," the FBI affidavit said.

"Wright indicated that he agreed with Rahim's plan and supported it," the affidavit states.

Authorities searched a home in Warwick, Rhode Island, on Tuesday and Wednesday but wouldn't confirm the search was related to the investigation.

Early Tuesday morning, Rahim called Wright and told him he had changed his plans and no longer planned to kill someone in another state, the affidavit says. Instead, he said he was going to "go after" the "boys in blue," it says, an apparent reference to police officers.

During the recorded conversation, Rahim told Wright, "Yeah, I'm going to be on vacation right here in Massachusetts. ... I'm just going to, ah, go after them, those boys in blue. Cause, ah, it's the easiest target and, ah, the most common is the easiest for me," the affidavit says.

The FBI said the phrase "going on vacation" refers to committing violent jihad.

Authorities allege that during that conversation, Wright advised Rahim to destroy his smartphone, wipe his laptop computer and prepare his will.
...drop some acid, do some blow, drill a hooker or two, the usual preparation for sudden jihadi syndrome...
On Wednesday, authorities moved swiftly to manage perceptions of the shooting, which killed a black man whose family is well known among Muslims and African-Americans in Boston.

Rahim's mother is a nurse at Boston University. His older brother, Ibrahim Rahim, is a scholar known for preaching after the Boston marathon bombings that violence is anti-Islamic.
Did he preach that in English or Arabic?
Ibrahim Rahim initially posted a message on Facebook alleging police repeatedly shot his brother in the back while he was on a cellphone calling their father for help. But his version unraveled Wednesday after police showed their video of the confrontation to community leaders.
Somebody is finally getting smart about knocking down the stage management the progressive left does with these incidents...
Darnell Williams, president of the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts, said he could "150 percent corroborate" the police account. The images clearly show that Usaama Rahim "was not on a cellphone and was not shot in the back," Williams said.

The video, which police did not make available publicly, shows that Rahim menaced the officers with a large military-style knife and they initially backed away before shooting him when he refused to drop it, police said.

More on the Iman's peaceful little brother
2015-06-03
The man shot and killed Tuesday by Boston police was plotting with another suspect to behead a cop, a law enforcement source told FoxNews.com
Just another gentle giant...
The dead suspect, 26-year-old Usaama Rahim, was under surveillance by the Joint Terrorism Task Force when he was shot at about 7 a.m. near a CVS in the city's Roslindale neighborhood, when he brandished the blade at police. Later Tuesday, authorities arrested another suspect, David Wright, in connection with the case, police said.
Clearly a "suicide by cop"...
"We believe the intent was to behead a police officer," one official told The Boston Globe. "We knew the plot had to be stopped. They were planning to take action Tuesday."

Rahim was shot outside a CVS Pharmacy in Roslindale, Mass. at approximately 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Boston Police Commissioner William Evans told reporters that members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force approached Rahim to question him about "terrorist-related information" they had received when he moved toward officers with the knife.

Evans said officers repeatedly ordered Rahim to drop the knife but he continued to advance. He said task force members fired their guns, hitting Rahim once in the torso and once in the abdomen. Rahim was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Later, the FBI and local police arrested a man at a home in Everett, Mass., in an action authorities said was related to the Roslindale shooting. Christina Diorio-Sterling, a spokeswoman for U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz, said Wright was taken into custody from his home in suburban Everett. She said Wright will face federal charges and is expected to appear in U.S. District Court on Wednesday.

WFXT reported that three different Joint Terrorism Task Force teams had been carrying out 24-hour surveillance on at least three different people in the Boston area, though it was unclear how long that had been going on.The plot may have been inspired by the terror group ISIS, who have repeatedly called on followers in the United States to attack law enforcement officials or military installations.

Evans did not comment on the report that Rahim had been radicalized by ISIS, but said "Obviously, there was enough information there where we thought it was appropriate to question him about his doings ... He was someone we were watching for quite a time."
He didn't need to be radicalized by ISIS. There's plenty of other sources to radicalize him...
Evans said the officers didn't have their guns drawn when they approached Rahim. He said police have video showing Rahim "coming at officers" while they are backing away. That account differs from one given by Rahim's brother Ibrahim Rahim, who said in a Facebook posting that his youngest brother was killed while waiting at a bus stop to go to his job.
Who you going to believe, the brother or your own lying eyes?
"He was confronted by three Boston Police officers and subsequently shot in the back three times," he wrote. "He was on his cellphone with my dear father during the confrontation needing a witness."

There is surveillance video from the scene which will be released after Rahim's family and civil rights advocates view the footage.
Why would "civil rights advocates" get to see the footage before I do?
WFXT reported that Rahim worked in loss prevention at several CVS stores in the Boston area. However, it was not clear that the store where he was killed was among them. Boston voter registration records seen by the Associated Press list Rahim as a student. Other records indicate that as recently as two years ago he was licensed as a security officer in Miami, but don't specify in what capacity.

The Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center said its security firm hired Rahim as a security guard for a month in mid-2013. Executive director Yusufi Vali said Rahim didn't regularly pray at the center and didn't volunteer there or serve in any leadership positions.

The FBI and Rhode Island State Police also searched a property in Warwick, R.I. in relation to the Roslindale shooting. Police sealed off a street, requiring anyone who lived there to show identification to pass the police cordon, but it was not clear if they had anyone in custody.

A 17-year-old told the Boston Globe that police had asked him about a neighbor in his mid-20s named Nick. The teen told the paper Nick often wears long robes and prays in his front yard.
"Nick"?

Man killed by Boston police was Usaama Rahim
2015-06-03
Followup from yesterday. This is from the brother of the newly departed on his Facebook page. Can't vouch for how long it will be there.
Your prayers are requested:
This morning while at the bus stop in Boston, my youngest brother Usaama Rahim was waiting for the bus to go to his job. He was confronted by three Boston Police officers and subsequently shot in the back three times. He was on his cell phone with my dear father during the confrontation needing a witness. His last words to my father who heard the shots were:
I can't breathe!
While at the hospital, Usaama Rahim died!
From Allah we come, and to Allah we return.
Imam Ibrahim Rahim
This part is from the Boston Herald and is in the usual link in the headline, from yesterday's edition:
An armed man in his 20s being surveilled by the FBI counterterrorism unit was shot and killed by an FBI agent and a Boston police officer in Roslindale this morning, according to Boston Police Commissioner William Evans.

"He was on foot, under surveillance," Evans said. "The officers have been surveilling him and again they wanted to speak to him ... and he turned and our officers gave several commands for him to drop the weapon and unfortunately he came at the officers and they did what they were trained to do and that's never an easy decision for any officer to make."

One FBI agent and one BPD officer fired, FBI Special Agent in Charge Vincent B. Lisi said.

Evans said the suspect was wielding a large military-style black knife that he could have "done a lot of damage" with.

"I think our officers tried their best with the FBI to try to convince him to put down the knife but he didn't leave us a choice," Evans said. "It's an active investigation with the joint terrorism task force ... It's very fluid it's ongoing, but we have one male shot and as you can see it is a very active scene."

The suspect was declared dead at Brigham & Women's Hospital, Evans said.

"All we know is the joint terrorism task force was on this guy and when they confronted him to speak with him he turned and came at the officers and unfortunately he was shot dead," Evans said.

Boston police Lt. Mike McCarthy said the suspect is of Middle Eastern descent and had been under surveillance "for weeks," including this morning.

An eyewitness who declined to give his name said the suspect was armed with a knife and had a "scabbard" when he lunged at police and was shot.

Dozens of police officers have swarmed the small shopping plaza and officers are seeking surveillance video from a nearby Dunkin' Donuts, employees said.
