Saudi Grand Mufti Lauds MWL Efforts on Preserving Islamic Unity
2018-09-03
[Asharq Al-Awsat] Saudi Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh praised on Saturday efforts by the Muslim World League (MWL) on unifying Muslims worldwide, advocating on their behalf, and ensuring their protection, further confirming the league’s undying efforts and great achievements.

“The Muslim World League is performing its role to carry out the Islamic halal slaughter, by making sure animals are slaughtered according to halal standards and trusted mechanisms,” he said.

For its part, the MWL reaffirmed its commitment to implementing premium standards of halal slaughter and continuing to fully adhere to regulations and standards set by the GCC Standardization Organization when issuing halal certificates.

MWL recently suspended the certification of a number of slaughterhouses and relevant companies around the world for violating guides to producing halal meat.

A royal decree gave the MWL sole responsibility for issuing halal certificates, in recognition of its expertise in coordinating and cooperating with local and international bodies and having met Islamic requirements for producing, manufacturing and marketing halal products.

The Supreme Council of Scholars issued a fatwa stating that the only authority responsible for slaughtered halal imports is the MWL, given that with over three decades of experience and partners and offices worldwide, the MWL is the oldest and most efficient Islamic organization working the field of halal foods manufacture.

The MWL works on finalizing the globally largest center for halal production within its headquarters in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

MWL’s functions include supervising the slaughter and production of halal goods, and issuing Halal approved certificates, whether directly or indirectly via recognized offices and representatives abroad.

The center also issues certificates for selling halal goods, provides technical and Islamic consultancy services, introducing businesses to halal food.

Grand Mufti calls on Haj pilgrims to shun politics
2015-09-13
[ARABNEWS] Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh has called on pilgrims to uphold the spirit of unity and piety while performing Haj, which is one of the five pillars of Islam.

"Haj is not the occasion to play politics or spread misconceptions or hatred against one another, or divide Moslems. It is the time to become united in faith," he said during the Friday sermon at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh.

The grand mufti also warned that those found indulging in nefarious activities anywhere in the Kingdom during the pilgrimage will be dealt with firmly and that the authorities concerned are maintaining a strict vigil on pilgrims.

He said during the "Jahiliyah" (ignorance) time, people used to come for Haj with pride in their kinship, parties and their poetry. However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
Islam came to put them on the right path.

"We Moslems have not come here to divide and create a schism between the people and leaders. We have come to become united in faith, have one word, cooperate and to take advantage of this chance to meet and build a constructive dialogue with a goal to uphold righteousness and do away with wrongs," the grand mufti said.

Al-Asheikh also exhorted the pilgrims to follow the traffic rules in the Kingdom, stay away from what does not concern them and work on what is best for them.

"Pilgrims must keep repeating the words of God, read his Book and perform Tawaaf and Salah in the Great Mosque, and stay away from the slogans of ignorance. We are an Islamic Ummah, a community of one, our God is one, our Prophet is one and our Book is one," he said.

Al-Aasheikh said: "The House of God is the purest of places on earth. Those who enter it, do so as humbled people, as if they are not from this earthly world."

Grand mufti denies fake fatwa
2015-04-12
[ARABNEWS] Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh has denied issuing a fatwa that states it is permissible for a starving man to save himself by eating the flesh of a woman.

In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency on Thursday, Al-Asheikh said the religious edict was false and created by Islam's enemies to slander him and "keep the community busy squabbling over irrelevant issues instead of standing united behind the rightly guided rulers."

"The fatwa attributed to us is wrong. It is nothing but lies ... It has been circulated to distort the image of Islam, which has elevated and granted a dignified status to men and women without exceptions ..."

He quoted a verse from the Holy Qur'an to support his argument: "Oh you who believe, if an unrighteous man brings you news, look carefully into it, lest you harm a people out of ignorance, and then regret it."

The sheikh said Moslems must stay united against their common enemy and ignore attempts aimed at undermining their commitment to protect themselves and their countries.

We must prepare our youth in a proper way so that they become our shield for jihad in the service of God against enemies of the religion and the nation."

He said journalists must ensure that they report the truth at all times, and work to ensure the community is unified as the country aims to "rescue our brothers in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic...

'Ignorant critics of KSA laws' slammed
2015-03-21
[ARABNEWS] Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh has slammed Sweden's foreign minister for criticizing the Kingdom's judiciary.

"Whoever questions the legitimacy and independence of the Shariah justice system is either ignorant or biased." He said such claims are a "false reflection of reality."

During the airing of his weekly radio program, Al-Asheikh said the comments by Margot Wallstrom last week were based on lies. The country's legal system was legitimate and independent, and based on the Qur'an and Sunnah of the Prophet (peace by upon him) said Al-Asheikh.

He said the courts are impartial and provides justice for everyone. "Our religion protects everyone's rights in our country, despite the diversity of our resident population. It does not oppress anyone or discriminate between Moslem and non-Moslem."

He said women are protected under the law.

"Anyone who claims that women are not granted their rights is unaware of the reality on the ground. Women in our country are given access to all opportunities." He said the National Society for Human Rights and other bodies are active in ensuring this happens.

Al-Asheikh said Moslems should not believe these critics because they are propagating misguided views. He was responding to Wallstrom's condemnation of the way the country's judges handled a case involving a Saudi blogger convicted of insulting Islam.

Separately, GCC Secretary-General Abdullatif Al-Zayani summoned the Swedish Ambassador Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt and lodged a formal protest over the anti-Saudi tirade by Wallstrom.

Prophet's birthday celebration 'sinful'
2015-01-03
[ARABNEWS] Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh has warned against celebrating the birthday of the Prophet (peace be upon him), saying that it is a superstitious practice that was illegally added to the religion.

?It is a bida (a sinful religious innovation) that crept into Islam after the first three centuries when the companions and successors of the companions lived.?

Instead, it is obligatory for Muslims to follow the Prophet?s teachings as contained in the Sunnah, the sheikh said in his Friday congregational sermon at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah mosque in Riyadh.

The sheikh said that those who urge others to celebrate the birthday of the Prophet are evil and corrupt. ?The true love of the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) is manifested by following in his footsteps and supporting his Sunnah ... that is how the love for the Prophet (pbuh) is expressed.?

He said Almighty Allah has said: ?Say: ?If you do love Allah, follow me: Allah will love you and forgive your sins.?? Muslims have a duty to believe in the Prophet (pbuh) as the servant and messenger of Allah, who was sent as a guide to the entire universe, Al-Asheikh said.

It is the duty of Muslims to love and respect him. They should also defend him against those who misinterpret his teachings, the atheists who deny him, and those who abuse or mock him. These are the duties of Muslims who truly love the Prophet (pbuh), the sheikh said.

He said that Almighty Allah states in the Holy Qur?an: ?Say: If it be that your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your mates, or your kindred; the wealth that you have gained; the commerce in which you fear a decline; or the dwellings in which you delight, are dearer to you than Allah, or His messenger, or the striving in His cause, then wait until Allah brings about His decision, and Allah guides not the rebellious.?

Terrorist attempt to 'destabilize, divide' the Kingdom denounced
2014-11-06
[ARABNEWS] Saudi Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh has slammed the turbans who bumped off seven people this week, for trying to destabilize and divide the country.

"What happened in Al-Ahsa is an example of brutal aggression and a great injustice. This is carried out by sick minds seeking to incite fitna between people, God forbid," he said.

He said these acts were being carried out by those who want "to open the door to sectarian conflict so that we kill and destroy each other," he warned in a televised speech on Tuesday.

"We live in one state, secure and stable under a single government that brings us together," the grand mufti said. He called on the government to punish those responsible in the harshest possible manner.

GCC Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani said: "The attack violates the basic principles of Islam. It was aimed at causing division and sedition. However,
the hip bone's connected to the leg bone...
the turbans will not succeed in achieving their nefarious objectives."

Police found the body of one of the attackers in Buraidah on Wednesday. It was not clear who killed him. This means that three turbans have bit the dust. The other two were killed in a shootout in Shaqra on Tuesday.

Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Count Guido had been cornered by the banditti...
thousands of people attended the funeral prayers Wednesday of two security officers killed in the shootout with the terrorists.

Prayers for Capt. Muhammad Al-Enezi and Cpl. Turki Al-Rasheed were held in Hail and in Buraidah. They were slain during a raid on a terrorist hideout in Mahlmin district in north Hail on Tuesday.

The two officers were members of the Qassim Emergency Force that conducted the raid in connection with Monday's shootout in Al-Ahsa, which saw masked gunnies kill seven people.
