US intelligence helped the IDF free four hostages but floating pier not involved, IDF sez no other hostages harmed | |
2024-06-09 | |
[Regnum] Before the IDF special operation in the Nuseirat area, the United States provided Israel with intelligence information about hostages being held in the Gaza Strip, The New York Times reported on June 8. “A U.S. hostage rescue team stationed in Israel assisted the Israeli military in its efforts to rescue the four hostages by providing intelligence and other logistical support,” the article wrote. The authors noted that groups of specialists from the United States and Great Britain are located on Israeli territory during the military conflict and help the intelligence of the Jewish state in collecting and analyzing information about the hostages, as well as about high-ranking representatives of the Palestinian Hamas movement. According to one Israeli official, the US and Britain can help with intelligence from the air and cyberspace, since Israel cannot do this on its own. As Regnum reported, on June 8, the official representative of the militant wing of the Palestinian Hamas movement, the Izzeddin al-Qassam Brigades, Abu Ubaydah, informed about the death of several hostages held in the Gaza Strip as a result of the Israeli operation in the refugee camp in Nuseirat. After that, the release of those held "will create a danger for the remaining" hostages and will have a negative impact on their conditions and lives, he added. On the same day, the Israeli army announced the release of four hostages who had been held by Hamas since October 7, 2023. The operation was carried out in the central part of the Gaza Strip. All those released were taken to a medical facility in the suburbs of Tel Aviv. Among them is 27-year-old citizen of Russia and Israel Andrei Kozlov. The US House of Representatives on April 20 passed a bill to allocate $95 billion in military aid to Israel, Taiwan and Ukraine. According to the document, the Jewish state will receive $26 billion from the United States, including about 9.1 billion for humanitarian needs. The US decision to provide new military aid to Israel is aggression against the Palestinians, said Nabil Abu Rudeina, spokeswoman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The temporary pier on the coast of Gaza was put in place for one purpose only, to help move additional, urgently needed lifesaving assistance into Gaza." The statement comes as the US resumed aid deliveries via the temporary pier yesterday, after the structure suffered storm damage and underwent repairs in a nearby port. "Today at approximately 10:30 am (Gaza time) US Central Command (USCENTCOM) began delivery of humanitarian assistance ashore in Gaza. Today, a total of approximately 492 metric tons (~1.1 million pounds) of much needed humanitarian assistance was delivered to the people of Gaza," CENTCOM writes in a separate post on X. Decade-old testimony from PA probe into Arafat’s death leaked to Palestinian press |
2022-11-12 |
[IsraelTimes] Outlets unveil accounts from top PA convinced of unproven claim that their ex-leader was poisoned; source says leak aimed at settling scores amid Ramallah succession fight Documents from the Paleostinian Authority’s internal investigation into the death of former leader Yasser Arafat were leaked to Paleostinian media this week, underscoring the extent to which bigwigs in Ramallah are convinced he did not die of natural causes. AIDS isn't a natural cause The leak came days before the Friday anniversary of Arafat’s 2004 death, though a source told the al-Araby al-Jadeed newspaper that the timing had more to do with the intensifying battle within the PA to succeed aging President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ![]() The leaked documents revealed the chilly ties between Abbas and Arafat before the latter’s death. PA security forces have launched an investigation into the identity of the leaker, Paleostinian media reported. The internal probe into Arafat’s death was launched in 2010 and led by Tawfik Tirawi, a bigwig in Abbas and Arafat’s Fatah party. The findings of the probe have never been published, however, with Tirawi saying that the testimony was kept classified to maintain the integrity of the investigation until the full truth was uncovered. Many Paleostinians accuse Israel of poisoning Arafat, a charge flatly denied by the Jewish state. Arafat’s family have brought their case before French courts and the European Court of Human Rights but it was dismissed due to lack of evidence. Among the 302 people summoned to testify in Tirwawi’s probe was now-PA Prime Minister Mahammad Shtayyeh, who told Sherlocks that "anyone who serves Israel has an interest in killing Arafat and such people exist in the Paleostinian arena," according to the leaked documents. Abbas’s now-spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeinah told Tirawi’s committee that "Arafat was poisoned by a person who served him coffee or tea. "He did not protect himself from others and was used to trusting people. There were hundreds and maybe thousands who gave Arafat gifts and food," he was quoted as having testified. The head of Arafat’s security detail also testified that he believed Arafat was poisoned, recalling the latter’s meeting with a delegation of some 300 residents from the northern West Bank village of Salfit, after which he fell terminally ill. The former speaker of the Paleostinian Legislative Council, Rawhi Fattuh, testified that after Arafat was transferred to La Belle France for emergency treatment in 2004, local doctors performed a test to determine if he was poisoned but were not able to identify anything in particular. A Paleostinian delegation that flew to La Belle France to visit Arafat requested to see the results of the test but never received them, fueling speculation that the PA leader was poisoned, Fattuh testified. The documents also revealed testimony from an unnamed source who said that Arafat had reached out to Abbas in 2004 for assistance in lifting the IDF siege around his compound in Ramallah. Israel had accused Arafat of orchestrating the Second Intifada and only allowed him to leave the West Bank after his health deteriorated significantly. Responding to Arafat’s request at the time, Abbas was quoted as having told him, "he who gets himself into problems will know how to get out of them." The remark was interpreted as an expression of disapproval by Abbas of Arafat’s support for the Second Intifada. |

Despite controversy, Palestinians continue to defend prisoner payments |
2022-02-09 |
[IsraelTimes] Spokesperson says PA leader the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas![]() is keeping up ’the battle over the pensions of the prisoners and deaders’ The Paleostinian Authority has continued to defend its controversial policy of paying stipends for Paleostinians imprisoned, maimed, or killed by Israel, including those convicted of terror attacks, despite international criticism. "The president is continuing the battle over the pensions of the prisoners and deaders. They will receive their daily bread," PA presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeinah was quoted as saying by official PA television in late January. Ramallah paid out around NIS 600 million ($187 million) in salaries for Paleostinians imprisoned, tossed in the slammer Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages! , or killed by Israel in 2020, according to a senior Paleostine Liberation Organization official. The practice of paying allowances to those convicted of carrying out terror attacks and to the families of those killed while carrying out attacks — often referred to by some Israeli officials as a pay-to-slay policy — has been pilloried by critics as incentivizing terror. Paleostinian leaders have long defended the payments, describing them as a form of social welfare and necessary compensation for victims of Israel’s military justice system in the West Bank. "Why should we have to clarify and justify providing assistance to families of prisoners and deaders, who are the victims of the occupation and its oppressive policies? We cannot abandon our people and we will continue striving to free all our prisoners," PA President Mahmoud Abbas said in a speech to the UN General Assembly in September. The United States has pressured Ramallah to end the policy in recent years. In 2018, Congress passed legislation banning the US government from sending aid to the PA until it ended the practice. The matter remains a key bone of contention between the two sides. During a November visit, US diplomat Linda Thomas-Greenfield told Abbas to avoid "payments to individuals imprisoned for terrorism," according to a US readout. |

Knesset's al-Quds vote is an end to peace process: Palestine's Abbas |
2018-01-03 |
[PRESSTV] Paleostinian President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas![]() has said that Knesset’s passing of a law that requires two-thirds of its members to approve any ceding land in Jerusalem al-Quds is a "declaration of war." "The Israeli Knesset’s vote on the united Jerusalem law is equivalent to a declaration of war on the Paleostinian people and its political and religious identity," said Nabil Abu Rudeinah, Abbas' front man, on Tuesday. He added that the Tel Aviv regime has already begun to impose its dictatorial rule on Paleostinians living in the occupied East Jerusalem al-Quds. "This vote clearly indicates that the Israeli side has officially declared the end of what is called the political process and has begun imposing a policy of dictates," he added. Abbas also stressed that Israel was not capable of such actions without the full support of the US government. Israeli politicians on Tuesday approved the amendment to an existing legislation, raising the number of required votes from 61 to 80 in the 120-seat parliament (Knesset) before the regime can relinquish control over any portion of the holy city to a "foreign party." |

The 14 other countries on the Security Council voted in favor, but US Ambassador Nikki Haley ![]() exercised the American veto. Nabil Abu Rudeina told AFP in Arabic that the support for the resolution, which included US allies La Belle France, Italia and Japan, "showed the (American) isolation. Palestinians fire warning ahead of Trump Jerusalem decision |
2017-12-02 |
[ARABNEWS] The Paleostinian president’s office warned Friday of the potential destructive effects of any move denying their claim to East Jerusalem as the capital of their future state. The statement comes as US President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... is due to decide by Monday on whether to move his country’s embassy from Tel Aviv to the holy city. The Paleostinians see East Jerusalem as the capital of their future state and fiercely oppose any changes that could be regarded as legitimizing Israel’s occupation and annexation of it. Without referring to Trump or the US by name, Paleostinian President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ![]() ’ front man Nabil Abu Rudeina said any just solution in the Middle East required recognition of East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Paleostinian state. "East Jerusalem, with its holy places, is the beginning and the end of any solution and any project that saves the region from destruction," he said in a statement on the official Wafa news agency. Israel occupied East Jerusalem in the Six-Day War of 1967 and later annexed it in a move never recognized by the international community. No countries currently have their embassies in Jerusalem, instead keeping them in the Israeli commercial capital Tel Aviv. Trump is due to decide by Monday on whether to renew a six-month waiver on moving the embassy. He pledged during his campaign to move the embassy to Jerusalem but renewed the waiver in May. Reports emerged on Friday that Trump could again delay moving the embassy but recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Trump has said he wants to relaunch frozen peace talks between Israel and the Paleostinians in search of the "ultimate deal." Analysts say any major shift in US policy would make that goal more difficult to achieve. |

Palestinian Authority Rejects Direct Iran Aid to 'Intifada' Families |
2016-02-29 |
[An Nahar] The Paleostinian Authority on Sunday said direct financial assistance by Iran to the families of Paleostinians killed in a five-month wave of violence would be unacceptable. Tehran announced last week assistance would be offered to families of Paleostinians killed in the wave of violence that erupted in October, but the PA says such aid must follow official channels. Paleostinian presidency front man Nabil Abu Rudeina, cited by local media, said bypassing the authority in handing out such funds would constitute illegal interference in internal Paleostinian affairs. Iran should "send this money through official channels to the (PA's) Martyrs and Prisoners Foundation rather than relying on informal and circuitous routes," Abu Rudeina said. Iran's ambassador to Leb, Mohammad Fathali, said Wednesday that Tehran would offer $7,000 to the families of each Paleostinian killed in what he called the "Jerusalem intifada." Iran will also give $30,000 to Paleostinian families whose homes have been destroyed by Israel because a member is accused of carrying out an anti-Israeli attack, he told a news conference in Beirut. The money pledged is in addition to the monthly aid paid since 1987 by an Iranian institution to families of Paleostinians killed, he said. The wave of violence in Israel and the Paleostinian territories since October has killed 177 Paleostinians as well as 28 Israelis, an American, a Sudanese and an Eritrea ...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. Kerry, Abdullah, Netanyahu meet in Jordan over J'lem tensions |

[Ynet] Secretary of state also meets separately with Abbas to discuss ways to end J'lem violence, renew peace talks; 'Israeli violations are a red line, cannot be tolerated,' says Abbas front man. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you knowKerry Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State... and Jordan's King Abdullah II met Thursday evening in Amman, Jordan to discuss rising tensions in Jerusalem. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US Secretary of State John Kerry and Jordan's King Abdullah II met Thursday evening in Amman, Jordan to discuss rising tensions in Jerusalem. Around 100 residents, among them schoolchildren, tried to block the main road in protest after police blocked off several of Issawiya's entrances with concrete blocks. Police fired tear gas, percussion bombs and rubber bullets to break up the rally. Months of unrest have escalated in recent days, spreading from East Jerusalem to the West Bank and Arab communities across Israel, and raising fears of a new Paleostinian uprising. 'Red line' The meeting between Abbas and Kerry, who arrived in Jordan late on Wednesday, comes a day after Israel approved plans for another 200 settler homes in a neighborhood of East Jerusalem, a move sharply criticized by Washington. Much of the unrest in Jerusalem has been fuelled by religious tensions at the Al-Aqsa mosque compound, a site holy to both Moslems and Jews. The Paleostinians have been deeply angered by a campaign by far-right Jewish fringe groups to secure prayer rights at the shrine, although Israel has repeatedly stressed it has no plans to change the decades old status quo, under which Jews can visit but not pray there. Abbas's front man said he would tell Kerry of the Paleostinians' growing concerns over Israel's actions, particularly in Jerusalem. "The Paleostinian position will be made crystal clear: the Israeli violations are a red line and cannot be tolerated - especially with the tension and Israeli escalation in Al-Aqsa and Jerusalem," Nabil Abu Rudeina told AFP. 'End provocative acts' In a letter to the UN Security Council sent on Wednesday, Paleostinian ambassador Riyad Mansour demanded international intervention. "The flagrant disrespect for this holy site and for Paleostinian worshippers, marked by daily incursions into the compound... must be taken seriously by the international community as they are stoking religious sensitivities and aggravating tensions, with the potential to spiral out of control," he said. Clashes at the mosque compound have drawn sharp criticism from both the Paleostinians and Jordan, which has custodial rights at the shrine. Ahead of Kerry's arrival, King Abdullah met Abbas in Amman for talks in which he expressed his "total rejection" of Israel's "repeated aggressions and provocations in Jerusalem," a palace statement said. In a move likely to further heighten tensions around the compound, Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch said late Wednesday he would introduce metal detectors and facial-recognition technology at the entrances. "We'll increase the supervision of people entering the compound, both Jews and Moslems," he said. Metal detectors were removed from the compound's gates in 2000. The US State Department sharply condemned Israel's announcement of 200 new homes in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Ramot. Gaza strikes draw Abbas call for Israel to halt 'escalation' |
2014-03-14 |
[Pak Daily Times] Israel pounded nearly 30 targets in Gazoo overnight after hard boyz fired scores of rockets into the south, prompting Paleostinian leader the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ... a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial... to demand Thursday that it halt its "escalation." The rocket barrage, which was the heaviest since an eight-day conflict between Israel and Gazoo's Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, rulers in November 2012, sent thousands of Israelis fleeing for cover across the south on Wednesday afternoon. So far, there have been no reports of casualties on either side of the border. And experts said Israel was not interested in a major confrontation with Gazoo's Hamas rulers. The latest tit-for-tat violence was sparked by an incident on Tuesday when hard boyz of the hardline Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... group fired a mortar round at troops allegedly trying to enter southern Gazoo, prompting an Israeli air strike which killed three of them. In retaliation, Islamic Jihad's armed wing, the Quds Brigades, fired scores of rockets over the border on Wednesday, with the group putting the number at 130. Israel responded with air strikes on 29 targets across Gazoo, hitting bases used by Hamas as well as those of Islamic Jihad, which has so far claimed all of the rocket fire. The army said more than 60 rockets had struck southern Israel, five of them hitting populated areas. Another three were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defence system. "In response to the massive rocket attack that hit Israel earlier this evening, the Israel Air Force targeted 29 terror sites in the Gazoo Strip. Direct hits were confirmed," it said. Security sources in Gazoo said there were no casualties in the air strikes as all the sites had been evacuated. Early Thursday, hard boyz fired another five rockets but only one struck Israeli territory, the army said. By daybreak all was quiet, an AFP correspondent on the Israeli side of the border reported. The air strikes, which began at around 2030 GMT on Wednesday, prompted a sharp rebuke from Abbas, who demanded Israel "put an end to its military escalation in the besieged Gazoo Strip," his front man Nabil Abu Rudeina said. But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu quickly hit back. "Abbas didn't condemn the rocketing of our citizens, he condemned Israel for hitting three Death Eaters who fired mortars on us," Netanyahu said, referring to Tuesday's border incident. "That's wrong," he said, his remarks quoted by front man Ofir Gendelman. Earlier, Netanyahu warned that Israel would act "with great force" against those seeking to attack it. "If there won't be quiet in the south, there will be noise in Gazoo," he remarked drily after a conference call with his defence chiefs in which he instructed them to do whatever necessary to restore calm. |

Palestinians: West Bank Killings Threaten Peace Talks |
2013-12-20 |
[An Nahar] The Paleostinians on Thursday accused Israel of a "dangerous escalation" after the army killed two people in the West Bank, calling the violence a deliberate attempt to scupper peace talks. "This dangerous Israeli escalation aims to thwart American and international efforts to move forward with the grinding of the peace processor, and leads the negotiations to a dead end," presidential front man Nabil Abu Rudeina said in a statement published by the official WAFA news agency. His remarks were made after two Paleostinians were killed in festivities sparked by separate arrest raids by the Israeli army in the northern West Bank. Late Wednesday, troops rubbed out a member of the radical Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... and maimed several others in a confrontation in Jenin refugee camp, sources on both sides said. The army said troops had gone in "to arrest a suspect" but opened fire after being attacked with gunfire, homemade grenades and bombs. Several Paleostinians were maimed and one died on the way to hospital, an army statement said. In a second incident shortly before dawn in Qalqilya, a Paleostinian security official was rubbed out during an exchange of fire with Israeli troops who attempted to ambush him, a second army statement said. They accused him of firing at troops "on numerous occasions" in recent weeks. Paleostinian security sources identified him as an intelligence officer and said he was on his way home when he was ambushed by the army. Both men were laid to rest in their home cities on Thursday morning. |
