FIA arrests 8 for alleged involvement in smuggling of Greece boat tragedy victims |
2023-06-26 |
[Dawn] The Federal Investigation Agency arrested on Sunday eight suspects from across the country allegedly involved in smuggling the victims of the Greece boat tragedy. Last week, an Italia-bound fishing trawler reportedly carrying at least 800 people — including approximately 300 Paks — capsized off Greece. Only 104 people are known to have survived and the chance of finding more survivors was seen as virtually nil. The incident led to a day of mourning along with a nationwide crackdown initiated by the government on human smugglers. On Friday, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said 82 deceased Pak victims had been recovered while amendments to laws were under consideration to ensure that those involved in human trafficking and employing illicit means to send people abroad would face appropriate punishment. In a statement issued today, an FIA spokesperson said six human smugglers were arrested for facilitating the illegal journey of the Greece boat tragedy victims and five cases were registered against them. The suspects, he said, were nabbed from Kallar Syedan, Jhang, and Beautiful Downtown Peshawar ...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. "They received millions of rupees in return for illegally sending people to Europe." The FIA identified the smugglers as Tanveer Ahmed, Muhammad Yousuf, Junaid Mehmood, Muhammad Islam, Haider Ali, and Durran Khan. "They sent people to Libya and then off to Europe," the agency added. The spokesperson added that an inquiry against the men was initiated after identification by the victims’ families. Another statement issued by the FIA later in the day said that two more suspects, Imran and Muhammad Yahya, were arrested from Sialkot and Gujranwala, respectively. It stated the men sent the victims to Europa ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... via Iran ![]() spontaneouslytaking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militiasto extend the regime's influence. A Ceasefire and a Dream LoC villagers say silent guns paved way for development, call for its continuity |
2023-03-11 |
[GreaterKashmir![]() Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there.... ] The silence of guns on the Line of Control (LoC) due to the ceasefire between Indian and Pak soldiers for the last two years has brought in an era of peace with people living in villages along the heavily-guarded LoC terming this peaceful time as a dream coming true. They have called for continuity of ceasefire stating that peace was the basic need of every human being and now they could see life aspects other than braving shells that used to be a routine at the time of ceasefire violations and cross-LoC shelling. The LoC ceasefire was agreed upon by India and Pakistain in February 2021 after which a situation of calm has been prevailing on the Line of Control, along with the International Border (IB). Official figures also reveal that not a single incident of violation of ceasefire from Pak side had been registered in the last two years and the first week of March. This ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistain completed two years on February 23 with people living along the LoC being the prime beneficiaries of this truce. In Niaka village of Rajouri, civilian population is now able to live life without the fear of death due to mortar shells, rocket launchers, or bullets that were a routine at the times of ceasefire violations. "For four years, our family was thinking of building a new house. However, today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday... we were not able to construct the new house, as ceasefire violations in the area were a regular feature," said Ibrar Ahmad Kohli, a youth from Niaka village. Niaka village in Rajouri is India's last village ahead of LoC in Tarkundi sector. This village has seen intense shelling during ceasefire violations in the past. Two women from the village also bit the dust in 2017 after a mortar shell hit their house. Kohli said that earlier due to ceasefire violation no mason or labourer used to work in the village as remaining under the open sky during shelling was like an open invitation to death. "Things now have changed due to the ceasefire. Now everyone is busy with their lives like people in other villages," he said. Muhammad Yousuf, a social "Only we know the hardships that are faced during shelling. No one outside our villages can even think of the nightmare we used to have," Yousuf said. Muhammad Nazir, 41, who lives in the last hamlet on the LoC termed the ceasefire as a dream come true for the people of this border area. "We always dreamt of a dignified life without fear of death, without bangs of mortar shelling, without explosions, without bullets, and a life in which we can send our children to schools without fear, in which we can work in our fields without fear and a life in which we can sleep inside our houses without thinking of dying due to a mortar shell landing on us," he said. He said that the people living in villages along the LoC including Ratti Mitti, Chiti Bakri, Niaka, Chamba, Panjgrian, and Peryali were poor and faced a severe crisis of basic amenities like road connectivity, water supply, electrification, schooling, healthcare. However, today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday... the first thing that people want is peace, which only the silence of guns amid ceasefire can bring. |

4 policemen gunned down in Karachi's SITE area during iftar |
2017-06-24 |
[DAWN] Four coppers were bumped off in Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... 's SITE area on Friday in what appeared to be an incident of murder, officials told Dawn. SITE Station House Officer (SHO) Rana Maqsood said the coppers were having iftar at a hotel located between Siemens Chowk and Habib Bank Chowrangi when three unidentified persons on two cycle of violences opened fire on them. The coppers ─ Assitant Sub-Inspector Muhammad Yousuf, and police constables Shabir, Khalid and Israr ─ was struck down in his prime while the suspects managed to escape. Maqsood initially claimed that the assailants belonged to a "defunct terrorist organization". However, Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried... Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) official Raja Umer Khattab told Dawn that a new krazed killer organization called the Jamaat-ul-Ansar al-Sharia ...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet... Pakistain had grabbed credit for the attack on the coppers in pamphlets dropped at the site of the shooting. Members of the krazed killer outfit had doubled back to the scene of the crime after the attack and dropped pamphlets claiming responsibility for the attack, Khattab said. Khattab said that the krazed killer organization was "newly established" and had previously grabbed credit for the murder of a retired army officer in Karachi. |

Campaign against 'radical' seminaries going nowhere |
2015-03-24 |
![]() While the relevant officials in National Counter Terrorism Authority (Nacta) and the interior ministry declined to comment on the issue officially, a senior Nacta official told Dawn off the record that the Ministry of Religious Affairs was the lead coordination agency for this effort. Similarly, an official from the interior ministry, who too was only willing to comment on condition of anonymity, said that the interior secretary had asked the religious affairs secretary to coordinate with seminaries over three matters. "These three matters are source of financing and especially foreign funding, madressah registration and monitoring," he added. Whether or not the government is willing to acknowledge this officially, it cannot be denied that on the face of it, the only government department which has been involved in negotiating with the seminaries publicly is the religious affairs department. Just a religious matter? Religious Affairs Minister Sardar Muhammad Yousuf said that his ministry was focused on reforming the religious sector, streamlining madressah registration and facilitating the seminaries. Officially, there is no news of the interior ministry or any of its departments having met representatives from the madressahs. This means that government efforts vis-à-vis the seminaries are no different from past measures. "We have held the meeting of the Madressah Education Board after 11 years and there is a proposal to establish an Islamic Education Commission on the lines of the HEC," the minister said, adding, "These steps will correct the flaws in madressahs." Though the minister refused to explain what exactly he meant by "flaws", he was adamant that the Ministry of Religious Affairs had nothing to do with terrorism or checking foreign funding to seminaries. In his media statement on December 21, 2014 the interior minister had said, "Some 90 per cent of madressahs have no connection to terrorism -- based on intelligence reports." By saying so, he implied that at least 10 per cent did have such links, which is the reason madressah reform was a major objective in the 20-point NAP. A month later, on January 18, 2015, he reiterated, "The religious institutions are requested to cooperate with the government to identify potential terrorists." |

Christian Couple Burned Alive For Blasphemy In Pakistan |
2014-11-05 |
![]() The two, who worked in a clay-baking factory, were kidnapped on November 2 and held hostage for two days inside the factory. On Tuesday morning at 7:00 a.m. the two were beaten and then pushed into the brick kiln. Shama was pregnant. According to Sardar Mushtaq Gill, a lawyer and human rights ...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty... defender who visited the scene of the event, the supposed blasphemy occurred upon the recent death of the Shahzad's father. Two days ago, Shama was cleaning her father-in-law's house, and in the process burned some personal items and papers that seemed useless. A Moslem man saw what she was doing and spread the word in the surrounding villages that the papers she burned included pages of the Koran. A mob of over 100 people formed, and took the couple hostage, finally executing them Tuesday. Emaneul Sarfraz, a relative of the dear departed couple, offered a slightly different version of the events. According to Sarfraz, his cousin Shahzad and his wife Shama had been working in the kiln of Muhammad Yousuf Gujjar. "The couple along with their four children wanted to leave the kiln as Yousuf was not paying their remuneration. He demanded Rs 5,00,000 from them, if they wanted to quit." "Two days ago, after an exchange of words Yousuf locked the couple along with their children in a room," Sarfraz said. After two local mosques announced the alleged blasphemy, "a large number of Moslems led by area holy mans reached the kiln and dragged the couple out of the room after breaking into it. They first tortured them and then threw them in the kiln," he said. According to another report, as the Christian couple was burning and protesting their innocence, the mob was shouting "Allah hu Akbar," "death to blasphemers," and "kill the infidel Christians," at which Christian residents nearby fled from their homes to safety. The same report claims that it was the owner of the brick Kiln factory, Yousaf Gujjar, and his manager who instigated Moslems of nearby villages to punish Shahzad and Shama after a Moslem employee complained of them burning of pages of the Qur'an. The police, alerted by other Christians, came to the scene, substantiated the death and brought in 35 people for questioning. A local cop shoppe official Bin-Yameen confirmed that "a mob attacked a Christian couple after accusing them of desecration of the holy Koran and later burnt their bodies at a brick kiln where they worked." Dr. Nazir Bhatti, president of the Pakistain Christian Congress, said in a statement that Pak blasphemy laws are a license for Moslems to kill Christians. "Blasphemy laws are only legislated to target religious minorities in Pakistain," Bhatti said. Gill called the act "barbaric and inhumane," calling for the whole world to "strongly condemn this incident, which shows the increased danger for Christians in Pakistain." A simple accusation "is sufficient to be victims of lynching. We'll see if anyone is punished for this murder," he said. According to AFP, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif ...Pak dynastic politician, brother of PM Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab... has established a three-member committee to investigate the killings and has ordered the police to reinforce security in Christian neighborhoods in the province. |
