'I didn't come here for fun' - Afrikaner defends refugee status in US |
2025-05-16 |
[BBC] Last week, 46-year-old Charl Kleinhaus was living on his family farm in His new home - for now - is a budget hotel near an American highway. He and dozens of other white South Africans were moved to the US under President Donald Trump's controversial policy to protect them from the discrimination he alleges they are facing - an accusation that South Africa rejects. Mr Kleinhaus defends the US president, telling the BBC he left his homeland after receiving death threats in WhatsApp messages. "I had to leave a five-bedroom house, which I will lose now," Mr Kleinhaus tells the BBC, adding that he also left behind his car, his dogs and even his mother. "I didn't come here for fun," he adds. The contrast in homes couldn't be more stark. But for Mr Kleinhaus, his situation in Buffalo, New York, is already a better one. "My children are safe," says Mr Kleinhaus, whose wife died in a road accident in 2006. The status of white South African farmers has long been a rallying cry on the right and far-right of American politics. Trump and his close ally, South Africa-born billionaire Elon Musk, have even argued that there has been a "genocide" of white farmers in South Africa - a claim that has been widely discredited. |

1941-1944: Explosions on Board: In Memory of Annie Morzova and her Fighting Comrades |
2025-05-14 |
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited. Text taken from the V Kontakte page of Great Patriotic War [VK] ... In the summer of 1943, strange cases of aircraft destruction were noted in enemy aviation operating on the Eastern Front. In loss reports, the cause of the destruction of German aircraft and crews was often indicated by one short phrase "Explosion in der Luft" ("Explosion in the air"). However, it was unclear why the planes exploded. Most of these cases occurred with aircraft flying out on combat missions from the Seshchinsky airfield... ![]() To find small Seshcha on the map, it is more convenient to first find the large city of Bryansk, estimate 90 kilometers northwest, and that's where Seshcha will be. Before the war, Seshcha was a small village with less than 500 residents. But there was a convenient airfield here, built in the late 20s, early 30s. The airfield was quite large: it could simultaneously accommodate up to 70-80 aircraft. At least before the war, more than 60 high-speed SB-2 bombers of one of the Soviet Air Force regiments were based at this airfield. With the outbreak of the war, the airfield was actively used by Soviet aviation, but not for long: after a month and a half, the front approached Seshcha. Soon the last Soviet aircraft flew away from Seshcha, and the airfield became empty. Many residents of the village, having left their homes, also went east. On August 9, 1941, the Germans entered Seshcha. Work began on restoring and expanding the airfield, preparing it for basing Luftwaffe air units. It is still difficult to say which of the German units was the first to be based at the Seshcha airfield. But it is known that already on August 23, Messerschmitt-110 fighter-attack aircraft of the SKG.210 headquarters, led by the squadron commander, Knight's Cross holder Major Walter Storp, flew here. Then on August 26, the I./SKG.210 aircraft of Captain Karl-Heinz Stricker landed in Seshcha, and on September 4, II./SKG.210 arrived under the command of Captain Rolf Kaldrak. In addition to the "hundred-tenths", the airfield housed Henschel-126 reconnaissance aircraft from 5(H)/Aufkl.Gr.12 and other aircraft. Of course, the composition of the units was constantly changing, and many other Luftwaffe units and subdivisions were subsequently based at the Seshcha airfield. Even exotic allies of Germany visited Seshcha - the temperamental Spaniards from the fighter squadron 15.(Span.)/JG.51 and the handsome Croatians from the bomber squadron 15(Kroat.)/KG.53. Of course, the basing of enemy aircraft at the Seshcha airfield did not go unnoticed by the Soviet command and soon Soviet air raids began on the airfield. Already on September 1, four Germans from the ground personnel of the fighter group II./JG.51 were killed during an air raid. Apparently, these were the first victims of the Nazi aviation in Seshcha. Not far from the airfield, a cemetery of the occupiers appeared, on which more and more new birch crosses appeared over time... However, it must be admitted that, despite all the efforts of the Soviet aviation, it was not possible to inflict serious losses on the enemy for a long time. For its part, our aviation lost a considerable number of aircraft. Who knows how long the failures of the "Stalin's Falcons" in raids on the invulnerable airfield would have continued if partisans and underground fighters from Seshcha itself had not come to their aid in the late spring of 1942. The leader of the Seshcha underground at that time was Anna Morozova. And before her, the commander of the underground group was first Konstantin Povarov, a 22-year-old lieutenant of the Red Army, left behind enemy lines for sabotage work. He himself was a local - from the village of Belskaya in the Dubrovsky district and knew all the surrounding areas well. On assignment from the NKVD, he went to serve the Germans and got a job as a policeman. At the same time, Povarov began to create an underground group. Gradually, he found reliable assistants not only in Seshcha, but also in the villages of Belskaya, Radichi, and Yabloni. It was Povarov who attracted Anya Morozova to the underground work, and she, in turn, attracted other female acquaintances. It was Povarov who maintained contact with the partisans and passed on to them the information he had collected about the Seshcha airfield. But, unfortunately, on September 23, 1942, Konstantin Povarov died after stepping on a mine. After that, 21-year-old Komsomol member Anya Morozova had to lead the underground. Before the war, she worked in Seshcha, in the accounting department of the Soviet 130th Bomber Aviation Regiment, which was then based at the airfield. As the Germans approached, Morozova first evacuated with the retreating units of the Red Army, but then returned and, on Povarov’s instructions, got a job as a laundress for the Germans. The underground group members Lida Korneva, Vera Molochnikova, Lyusya Senchilina and others also became laundresses and dishwashers. Of course, working for the occupiers was humiliating, but they had to live on something. In addition, those who worked received passes to the German military town. There, for six months, the girls studied the situation and selected candidates for underground work. Finally, in April 1942, on the advice of Anya Morozova, the girls met young Poles Jan Mankowski, Jan Tyma, Vaclav "Wacek" Messiasz and Stefan Gorkiewicz - servicemen of the German military unit L50485A, which carried out military construction work at the airfield and in the area of the village. Over time, Morozova managed to establish contact with the Czech anti-fascist Wendelin Roblicka, who served as an accountant at the Seshchin airbase headquarters with the rank of corporal. Roblicka's friend, the German soldier Alfred Beisler, also provided the underground with some assistance. Thus, real opportunities for collecting secret information that interested the Soviet command were gradually created. Thanks to the active work of Morozova and other members of the underground group, it was possible to collect valuable information about the locations of important objects at the airfield, and on the night of May 29-30, 1942, Soviet aviation, for the first time after a long break, carried out a raid on Seshcha. According to the underground fighters, about 80 aircraft and many German pilots were destroyed at the Seshcha airfield. However, this data is highly questionable, since at that time only one 4th reconnaissance squadron from Aufkl.Gr.11 (which did not suffer any losses!) and a couple of dozen courier, transport and other aircraft were based in Seshcha. However, despite some discrepancies in the data of Soviet partisans and German documents, it must still be recognized that the results of the actions of our underground fighters were quite tangible. The members of the international underground drew up and passed on to the partisans plans of the airfield, constantly supplied them with valuable information about changes at the German air base, about the enemy's plans, about the movement of its equipment and manpower. Using this data, the Soviet aviation periodically carried out bombing strikes on Seshcha throughout 1942. And in January - May 1943, only the long-range bomber aviation of the Soviet Air Force carried out ten powerful strikes on the Seshcha air base, in addition, Seshcha was often bombed and strafed by front-line aviation. More and more German aircraft were out of order... In the meantime, special mines for sabotage purposes began to enter service with the Soviet partisans. What kind of mines these were and how they came into service with us - we will tell you, based on documentary data. The fact is that with the beginning of the Second World War, in September 1939, the technical departments of the special services of the Ministry of Defense of England developed and launched into production a large number of sabotage mines of various types. Among them were, for example, explosive devices hidden in a piece of coal, a stuffed rat, magnetic mines, mine-lighters, etc. In accordance with the secret agreement between England and Russia of September 30, 1941, for the development of partisan warfare, it was envisaged to supply the USSR with English magnetic mines and mine-lighters. According to English historians, mainly magnetic sabotage mines CLAM Mk 2 were supplied to Russia. The name of the mine "CLAM" is translated as "mollusk", apparently because it, like a sea mollusk, easily and firmly sticks to any metal surface. This mine is a timer type and is designed to destroy or disable stationary or moving objects that have fairly large parts made of ferrous metals on their surface, i.e. metals with magnetic properties. Such objects can be aircraft, tracked or wheeled combat and transport vehicles, fuel tanks or metal seals for weapons and ammunition, rolling stock, rails, power transmission and communication line supports, pipelines, etc. The mine's charge is very small - only 227 grams of tetrytol 45/55 (a mixture of tetryl and TNT), however, it is enough to break a railway rail, pierce fuel tanks with a wall thickness of up to 5-6 mm. The mine's effect can be enhanced by placing two or more mines together. Mines were successfully used by commando units of the British Army, as well as combat units of the Resistance forces in the occupied countries of Europe. A certain number of these mines were supplied to the USSR under Lend-Lease and our partisans actively used them, especially against railway facilities. A considerable number of aircraft were also destroyed by the "mollusks" and, apparently, the underground fighters of Anna Morozova's group were the first to use them against aircraft. And the underground fighters received mines from the 1st Kletnyanskaya Partisan Brigade, commanded by 29-year-old Fyodor Danchenkov. In total, Danchenkov's brigade received exactly 312 British special magnetic mines from the Central Headquarters of the Partisan Movement. Of course, most of them were used to mine railway rolling stock and, according to some sources, the brigade's partisans crashed more than thirty German trains using magnetic mines. By that time, the Seshchinsky international underground movement numbered several dozen people. In addition to those mentioned above, active underground members included Matryona Erokhina, Varvara Kirshina, Praskovya Bakutina and others. A very difficult and dangerous task was to deliver magnetic mines to the underground members in Seshcha from the partisans located deep in the Bryansk forests. Usually, they were carried by Zinaida Antipenkova, Alexandra Garbuzova, Maria Korosteleva, Tatyana Vasenkova and other brave girls, placing them on the bottom of a bag filled with berries, fruits, vegetables and other products. Already in Seshcha, the underground members handed the mines to 17-year-old Vanya Aldyukhov, and he carried the mines to the airfield in a barrel of water on a harnessed cart. It is difficult to say now when exactly the Seshcha underground fighters began to place magnetic mines on aircraft, but, apparently, it happened just before the start or already during the German offensive operation "Citadel". At least, in the combat log of the 1st Kletnyansk partisan brigade on July 7, 1943, it was noted that the underground fighters mined and destroyed two Heinkel-111 and two Focke-Wulf-190. A few days later, on July 12, at the Seshcha airfield, according to the partisans, one Junkers-88 was blown up. And as recorded in the documents of the German 121st long-range reconnaissance group, one Junkers-88 from the 4th squadron was lost on July 15 as a result of an act of sabotage, that is, it was destroyed by a mine explosion. Lieutenant Herbert Meiss, Sergeant Adolf Reinecke, Unteroffizier Wilhelm Küppers and Sergeant Johannes Trukk went missing in the Seshcha area. It is safe to say that the mine was planted on this plane by the "water carrier" Ivan Aldyukhov, since there is an entry in the combat log of the 1st Kletnyansky Brigade that hints at this: "July 15-21, 1943, Seshcha airfield. With the help of three mines, the following were destroyed: a Heinkel-3 aircraft (the aircraft type was indicated incorrectly) right at the airfield, a locomotive on a narrow-gauge railway and a refuelling vehicle. Carried out by BS-33." And it was Ivan Aldyukhov who was listed under the pseudonym BS-33 in the detachment's intelligence reports. Part 2: According to partisan reports, on July 19, a Junkers-52 was destroyed by a mine. Actually, the Junkers-52 is a transport aircraft, but no information has been found about the losses of aircraft of this type. It is quite possible that one of the underground fighters again incorrectly indicated the type of aircraft on which the magnetic mine was installed. Apparently, it was not a transport aircraft, but a bomber. Indeed, there is information that one Heinkel-111 from II./KG.4 "General Wever" took off from the Seshcha airfield late in the evening of July 19 to bomb one of the targets in the rear of the Soviet troops, but did not return. Later, the wreckage of the aircraft was found in territory captured by the Germans, that is, the aircraft did not reach the front line. For unknown reasons, it crashed and burned 13 kilometers northwest of Zhizdra. The entire crew, consisting of Lieutenant Hermann Hüsemann, Unteroffizier Reinhold Metzger, Ober-Provich Rudolf Schmidt, Unteroffizier Egon Lenz and Ober-Provich Walter Volkhardt, perished. There is every reason to believe that this crew fell victim to the Seshcha underground fighters. According to the partisans, July 21 was a particularly successful day for the Seshcha underground fighters: they reported the destruction of three Heinkels-111 and one Messerschmitt-109. The next day, July 22, a Junkers-88 was blown up by a mine in the sky above the airfield, and, as the underground fighters reported, the entire crew was killed. Indeed, on this day, the 5th Squadron of II./KG.51 "Edelweiss" lost one Junkers-88. However, this did not happen over Seshchinsky airfield, but somewhere in the Arkhangelskoye area, east of Orel, where the aircraft had flown on a combat mission. The crew, consisting of Oberfeldwebel Gerhard Schubert, NCOs Friedrich Kovollik, Herbert Langwasser and Helmut Schreiber, was listed as missing in action in this area. The reason for their disappearance is unknown, since the radio operator of the crew did not have time to send a distress signal. It is quite possible that the crew died as a result of a sudden explosion of a mine planted at Seshchinsky airfield. Two more Junkers-88s were destroyed, according to partisans, on July 23. And in German documents there is information about one Junkers-88 from the 7th squadron of III/KG.1 "Hindenburg", which exploded in the air on July 24 in the Orel area. The crew of the plane, consisting of non-commissioned officers Friedrich Hoffman, Willy Eickhoff, Gunther Kenzl and Feldwebel Karl-Friedrich Konyevsky, is also considered missing. It can be assumed that the plane was mined by underground fighters, since it took off on a mission from Seshchinsky airfield. On July 28 - again according to German documents - the crew of Oberfeldwebel Helmut Goetzel from the 4th squadron of II./KG.51 "Edelweiss" was killed in an explosion in the air northeast of Karachev. Along with Getzel, non-commissioned officers Groff and Handvarsh, as well as sergeant major Kleinschmidt, were killed. And here, most likely, the plane was also mined by underground fighters, since it took off on a mission from the ill-fated Seshcha. Of course, operating in incredibly dangerous conditions, the underground fighters did not always manage to plant mines on airplanes. Apparently, that is why they had to plant mines on other objects of military significance. Thus, Ivan Aldyukhov and his 13-year-old younger brother Sasha blew up one carriage with aircraft engines, one steam locomotive on a narrow-gauge railway, two gas trucks, one snow-clearing tractor and other equipment with mines... In early August 1943, clouds gathered over the underground organization in Seshcha. An alarming radiogram was received by the Western headquarters of the partisan movement from the commander of the 1st Kletnyanskaya partisan brigade, F. S. Danchenkov: “August 2, 1943. To Comrade Popov. In confirmation of these words, on the same day, during a combat sortie in the area southeast of Orel, another Junkers-88 from II./KG. 51 "Edelweiss" exploded. The entire crew of non-commissioned officer Josef Frommhertz perished: "the Poles and Czechs" continued to "work" successfully... Perhaps the pilots of the Edelweiss squadron suffered more than others from the actions of Russian saboteurs: again, one Junkers-88 from the 9th squadron of III./KG.51 exploded in the air on August 8. The crew of Lieutenant Robert Ilg also perished. The next day, August 9, another Junkers-88 from the 5th squadron of II./KG.51 "Edelweiss" was lost, presumably from a mine explosion. The plane took off from Seshcha to Poltava, but went missing en route. Where and how it perished is unknown. The pilots - Lieutenant Heinrich Gerke, Corporal Otto Theiss, NCOs Fritz Bachmann and Gerhard Hörtner - are still listed as missing. Around mid-August (unfortunately, it is not known exactly when), three planes on which Jan Tim had planted mines exploded over the Seshchin airfield. They were supposed to explode an hour after takeoff, but the takeoff was delayed and they exploded in front of everyone, barely having time to take off... A wave of arrests swept through Seshcha. The Polish brigade was also arrested. In order to remove suspicion from the Poles, the command ordered Ivan Aldyukhov to plant mines on the planes and equipment himself. Despite the obvious reason for the plane explosions and the total surveillance throughout the airfield, carrying out this task was tantamount to calling for fire on himself. We must give credit to this incredibly brave young man: constantly risking his life, he continued to plant mines on German planes. Here, for example, is another entry from the combat log of the 1st Kletnyanskaya Brigade: "August 13-15. Seshchinsky airfield. Two planes were blown up by placing magnetic mines. Performed by BS-33." These were probably Aldyukhov's last successful acts of sabotage: soon after, on the denunciation of a traitor, Ivan was arrested while attempting to plant a mine on an airplane. Unbroken by the torture and abuse of the Gestapo, and not having betrayed the remaining members of the underground, he was shot by the Germans in Smolensk prison. Around the same time, the Germans also arrested the underground fighter Matryona Erokhina, who was delivering mines to the airfield. Unfortunately, almost nothing is known about Erokhina herself and her arrest. However, in the book by the famous German military historian Wolfgang Dierich about the history of the KG.51 "Edelweiss" bomber squadron, there are lines that are certainly related to Erokhina's arrest. Here is how Dierich writes about those dramatic events: "Here in Seshcha, the squadron lost many crews due to the actions of the partisans. At night, partisans, posing as support personnel, would install barometric explosive devices on the 900-liter fuel tanks of Junkers-88s that were fully filled with gasoline and loaded with bombs. When the altitude suddenly changed, for example during a dive attack, the explosive devices would detonate and tear the vehicles to pieces. At first, these explosions were a mystery to everyone, until one day, during a thorough search, explosive magnetic devices were found in a basket of eggs belonging to a seemingly harmless and innocent Russian peasant woman. Apparently, the "harmless and innocent Russian peasant woman" was Motya Erokhina. Just like Vanya Aldyukhov, the brave girl was tortured, but did not give anyone away and was tortured to death by the fascists. Unfortunately, Polish comrades also suffered a loss: Jan Mankovsky was inadvertently arrested for possession of weapons. Without betraying any of his friends, he also died in a Gestapo dungeon shortly before the liberation of Seshcha on September 18, 1943... After these dramatic events, as the former commander of the 7th squadron of III/KG.1 "Hindenburg" retired Colonel Gerhard Becker recalls, the planes began to be heavily guarded day and night, and carefully checked before each flight. Further mining of German planes became impossible. Nevertheless, the stay of German planes at the Seshcha airfield was coming to an end: Soviet troops were advancing unstoppably, and on September 20, 1943, Seshcha was liberated from the Nazi invaders... How many enemy planes did Anya Morozova's underground group manage to destroy? According to some sources, during the Battle of Kursk alone, the underground fighters blew up sixteen planes. And according to other sources, they destroyed twenty planes in total. But the most likely figure is 22 aircraft: this is exactly how many were indicated in the report on the results of the combat operations of the 1st Kletnyansk Partisan Brigade (which included Morozova’s underground group), presented by F. S. Danchenkov on March 26, 1944 to the Smolensk headquarters of the partisan movement. Unfortunately, the feat of Morozova's underground group, which for the first time in the practice of Soviet partisans used massive mining of enemy aircraft right at the airfield, was not noted in time. And only twenty years after the Victory, after the first Soviet multi-part television film "We Call Fire on Ourselves", dedicated to Morozova and her group, was shown on television with great success in February 1965, on May 8 of the same year Anna Afanasyevna Morozova was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. Posthumously, - since Morozova died on December 31, 1944, while carrying out a combat mission in Poland. Also posthumously, on May 10, 1965, Konstantin Yakovlevich Povarov and Ivan Filippovich Aldyukhov were awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, and Polish citizen Jan Mankovsky was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree... P.S. On December 31, 1944, Hero of the Soviet Union (posthumously) Anna Afanasyevna Morozova / "Swan", "Reseda" /, the second radio operator of the legendary sabotage and reconnaissance group "JACK", accepted her last battle with the "jagdkommando" of the SS and the Vlasovites. Wounded in the arm by an explosive bullet during a raid, she was hidden until dark in a dugout in a swamp, but the raid was with German shepherds... Before that moment, as part of the legendary reconnaissance group "Jack", she worked for six months in the rear of the East Prussian group of Germans, going through dozens of raids and transmitting almost 60 information radiograms. |

Greenwich Village isn't so freewheelin' anymore | |
2025-04-13 | |
[NYPOST] The bohemian Mecca made famous for its anything-goes attitude, counterculture musical scene and clashes with police is begging for law enforcement, a shocking new survey found. The Sixth Precinct Community Council polled 600 neighborhood residents and found 487 of them — 83% — want more cops on the streets. And 74% of Villagers said the Empire State needed stronger prosecution for drug dealing, while 80% thought New York needed stricter bail laws, according to the first-of-its-kind survey, conducted in February and March. ''The village is frequently criticized for being liberal — but clearly the numbers here indicate we're not happy,'' said precinct council member Steve Zammarchi. No place is more emblematic of the decline than Washington Square Park — where Bob Dylan used to sing songs about social injustice. Despite falling citywide crime, the green space continues to be overrun by junkies and dealers — and repeat offenders are on a loop — arrested, released and back by lunchtime, neighbors said.
Sumner says he would have described himself as ''quite liberal'' up until two years ago, but his personal views shifted when conditions in the park took a nosedive after the pandemic. But it's not just in the park. The Sixth Precinct routinely posts on X about nabbing drug dealers plying their trade in broad daylight on Sixth Avenue — something that would have been unimaginable only a few years back. ''It's very hard for me to unsee the realities of the outcomes on the streets. It's shifted how almost everyone I know who's active in the community is thinking about voting,'' he said, blaming Albany's bail reform and discovery changes for the unending cycle of lawlessness. Major felonies have surged over pre-pandemic levels, with 1,789 reported in 2024, up from 1,534 in 2019 — a 16% climb. So far this year, felonies are down 21%, compared to last year. The conservative shift is showing up in voting records too, a Post analysis found. Nearly 13% of voters in the neighborhood backed President Trump in 2024, up from the 8% of 2020 supporters, according to Board of Elections data. Eli Klein, who runs an art gallery in Greenwich Village, grew up in a very prominent liberal family — his mother Janet Benshoof was the founder of the Center for Reproductive Rights and a champion of the left. But the former lifelong Democrat said the party abandoned them. ''The left has gotten more extreme as opposed to us really going the other way. There's a lot of recidivist criminals on the streets. The progressives push really soft on crime stuff. It's hard to believe that a huge section of our population wants career criminals on the streets,'' he said. Longtime village residents say the free-love energy of the past has morphed into something less poetic. ''There's a lot more crazies, unstable people. It's just an eyesore, it's disconcerting,'' said Philip Spinelli, 75, who's lived on Christopher Street since the 1960s. Back then, they say, they were protesting for a cause. Now, not so much. ''We have literal zombies walking through the streets and framing it as somehow these reforms have given them some kind of dignity — this is not dignity,'' said Sumner. The NYPD did not return The Post's request for comment. The Real Politics of Israel Part 1: The U.S.-Israel Deep State |
2025-04-06 |
[PJMedia] Thanks to the mainstream media in the United States, most Americans believe that Israeli politics are simple; that Israelis are about to have a civil war over hostages and what should be done with Hamas![]() ; that most Israelis cannot stand Benjamin Netanyahu; and that Netanyahu is a corrupt leader who has betrayed his people for political opportunism. Nothing could be further from the actual truth on all of these points. Before going into the details of each of these issues, it is important to remember where these reports are coming from-- namely, the same "news" outlets that said Hunter Biden’s computer was fake, the Russian collusion propaganda was real, and that Donald Trump ...They hit him with slander, they impeached him twice. Nancy Pelosi tore up his State of the Union address on national TV. They stole an election and put his adherents in jail. They vilified him. They couldn't crucify him, so they shot him. Still, they can't keep him down... is a fascist ...anybody you disagree with, damn them... dictator who wants to be the king of America. The exact same people who made those fallacious claims domestically in the United States are making the same type of claims about Israel... and with the same agenda. The "deep state" in America is mirrored in Israel, where there is a partnership between a leftist media and leftist corrupt leaders who have for years been attempting to take over the politics of the Holy Land. In the same way that we have seen this Deep State attack President Trump, the same has been happening for years against Netanyahu, and for the same reasons: both men truly want what is best for their respective countries; and both men are not willing to succumb to Deep State alliances of media, For Trump's entire first presidency, we saw an attempted coup to remove him from office that utilized everything from false charges and ridiculous impeachments, to propaganda put out by media outlets, to staged riots and well-funded demonstrations. Looking back, most Americans have recognized the corruption that was involved in these attempts, and that there really was a coordinated effort to remove him from office by any means possible. Prime Minister Netanyahu has been and is experiencing the same thing. And in the same way that the Deep State of America was exposed and, as a result, weakened, the same exposing must take place of the Israeli Deep State. It is simplest to start with understanding the man, and why he is hated by his opposition. Benjamin Netanyahu, who has served on and off as prime minister for over 17 years starting in 1996, has dedicated his life to serving Israel. Having first enlisted in 1967 as part of the IDF special forces unit, Sayeret Matkal, he came to the U.S. for college. He earned multiple degrees from both MIT and Harvard; reenlisted in the IDF each time there was a conflict or war; and always strove to honor the memory of his brother and best friend Yonaton, who died rescuing the hostages in the raid on Entebbe, in which more than 100 hostages were rescued in 1976. By 1978, he had returned to Israel and founded the Jonathan Netanyahu Anti-Terror Institute. He started to develop political relationships and became involved in Israeli politics, becoming Israel's ambassador to the United Nations ...where theory meets practice and practice loses... from 1984 to 1989. Netanyahu became a member of the Knesset in 1988, became leader of the Likud party, and first became prime minister in 1996. From 1967 onwards, this man dedicated his life to the defense of Israel, and specifically since 1978, to fighting terrorism. His political beliefs have always been reflective of the man himself. Willard MittRomney, aka Pierre Delecto ...former governor of Massachussetts, the Publican nominee for president in 2012, now Senator from Utah. He is the son of the former governor of Michigan, George Romney, who himself ran for president after saving American Motors from failure, though not permanently. Romney has a record as a successful businessman, heading Bain Capital, and he rescued the 2002 Winter Olympics from the midst of bribery and mismanagement scandals. He is currently a trans Republican and a member in good standing of the Never Trump Party, attempting to assume the mantle of the late John McCain...> , with whom he worked at Boston Consulting Group directly out of college, described Netanyahu almost 40 years ago as "a strong personality with a distinct point of view." Shaped by the tragic loss of his brother, Netanyahu has, for almost half a century, worked to fight evil and defend Israel. As in the United States and President Trump's case, having the values of defending your nation and fighting evil do not necessarily make you popular with the "swamp." Netanyahu was always a polarizing figure in Israel, but everything changed for him and for the world with the election of the self-appointed Messiah, Barack Obama How much damage could he do in four years?... Eight, then... , in 2008. Obama, whose actions demonstrated an anti-Semitism that liberal American Jews did not want to recognize at the time, expected Netanyahu to kowtow to his slightest whim. Obama was entirely ignorant of Middle Eastern history, and was committed to a Paleostinian state with 1967 borders and to being allied with Iran. Netanyahu knew that these values were antithetical to the survival of the State of Israel. Despite Obama's attempts to control Netanyahu through either "the carrot or the stick", Netanyahu kept his commitment to his values, which enraged Obama. In his 2022 memoir, Netanyahu wrote that Obama "had given [Paleostinian Authority President] the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase.... The autobiography makes clear the hatred of Obama towards Netanyahu, and the many ways that Obama strove to both hurt Israel politically and Netanyahu personally. He speaks about Obama acting like a gangster with threats, and Obama's fury at Netanyahu not capitulating. When Netanyahu was invited by Congress to speak in 2015 without Obama's blessing, Obama's anger was increased exponentially yet again. And with his anger came actions against Netanyahu. Similar to the case of President Trump, Obama successfully started using his relationships in the media and the bureaucracy to attack Netanyahu. The Deep State was already well entrenched in Obama's regime. We all now know how it used its partnership with mainstream media to attack Trump repeatedly. But it also attacked Netanyahu. It wasn't just American media that attacked Netanyahu. As in the United States, there are many leftists involved in Israeli media. The Jerusalem Post is almost identical to the New York Times ![]() ...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... in tone and agenda. As of this week, the editor of the Post, Zvika Klein, is even being questioned about Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi... ’s financial support of the paper and Klein’s suspected involvement with foreign agents. The Times of Israel, although it does have some conservative voices, is also essentially a mouthpiece for leftist values, as are many of the Israeli television channels. The Deep State in Israel, supported and aligned by the leftists here in the United States, has been attacking Netanyahu for years. And like in America, it is not just the media, but self-serving politicians who seek their own power rather than the good of their nation. Yair Lapid, the leader of the opposition party, was briefly prime minister in between Netanyahu's terms. Like the stereotypical politician, he is concerned with his own power rather than the well-being of his country and people. Even when asked by his government not to travel to the United States, Lapid has taken every opportunity to meet with Obama, Joe The Big GuyBiden ...46th president of the U.S. The very model of probity.... , and others in the Democratic party leadership to garner their support and his hopeful election. But his efforts to weaken Netanyahu pale in comparison to the attempts by Israeli courts to destroy Netanyahu and legislate from the bench. Unlike the United States, Israel does not have a formal written constitution. Although in its Declaration of Independence there is a commitment that there would be one, this was supplanted by a concept of Basic Laws in 1950 that eventually became the base of a written constitution. But because of a series of legal judgments by the Israeli High Court, that never happened. Instead, the Israeli High Court actually holds a tremendous amount of the power, including the ability to change any laws passed by the Knesset. High Court judges are appointed positions and serve until they are 70 years old. Currently, three judges were appointed by Shimon Peres, who had been one of the officials in 2005 supporting Israel's entire withdrawal from Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppressionand disproportionate response... . Four other judges were appointed by current President Herzog, who is a great man on many levels, but a center/left politician who appointed left-leaning judges. Because the judges of the High Court are not elected but have control over Israeli legislation, there have been many conflicts, especially during the terms of Netanyahu. Recently, in July of 2023, the Knesset passed legislation to prevent the High Court from overturning legislation that was passed by elected officials of the Knesset. This bill was passed to prevent the court from forcing Israel to act based upon the liberal interpretations of the Court, as opposed to the desires of the prime minister, Knesset, and the people themselves. Because of the very odd way the basic law is structured, the High Court was deciding for itself whether it should lose power or not. Unsurprisingly, the court voted 8-7 to overturn this legislation written by elected officials, but that would weaken their own personal power and prohibit them from continuing to legislate from the bench. A Deep State that includes politicians, media, and the judicial branch: Israel mirrors the United States in this dangerous alliance. And again, just as in the United States, this alliance is joined by well-financed "activists" and demonstrators. In America, this has led to the many attempted coups to remove President Trump from office. In Israel, this same cabal is working in the same way to attempt a coup on Prime Minister Netanyahu. |

Catching Qatari spies in Israeli government reaches new level |
2025-04-04 |
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited. by Leonid Tsukanov [REGNUM] Israel continues to be rocked by the scandal surrounding the leaks of confidential information from the Prime Minister's Office to Qatar (the so-called "Qatargate"). ![]() The prosecution argues that the leaks not only exposed Doha to some sensitive Israeli secrets, but also strengthened the position of the Palestinian Hamas, leading to a protracted operation in the Gaza Strip. It is worth noting that the events surrounding Qatargate have accelerated exponentially. Over the past few days, there have been "fan" interrogations of all currently known participants in the scandal (including the country's current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ). Several face-to-face confrontations and closed operational activities have also taken place - however, without any clear result. It is noticeable that all parties to the scandal are tired of litigation and are looking for a way to quickly put an end to the case. However, while some are pressing for legal measures and looking for new defendants, others are trying to get out of the crisis literally "with a fight." QUEUES FOR INTERROGATION At first glance, little has changed in the Qatargate investigation. The main defendants remain former employees of the Prime Minister's Office - Eli Feldstein and Yonatan Urich. Law enforcement officials place the main responsibility for leaking classified information to Qatar on them, and they are the only ones in custody. American lobbyist Jay Futlik, whose firm acted as an intermediary between Doha and the participants of "Qatargate", and Israeli businessman Gil Birger, who acted as an "accountant", are currently being used as witnesses in the case. Although Birger has been placed under house arrest, just in case. However, this impression is wrong. In fact, the scandal has reached a new level. There are already more than a dozen defendants in the case waiting to be questioned – politicians, businessmen, journalists and public figures – but the investigation does not yet have the authority to deal with them. In addition, key figures in "Qatargate" give different testimonies, which further confuses the prosecution. Investigators admit that some participants in the scandal could have been used in the dark and, when transmitting classified information, believed that they were following orders "from above." As for Prime Minister Netanyahu, who is considered to be almost the key link in this scheme, he is currently separated from the main group of defendants - they are working with him carefully and individually. They are in no hurry to bring forward direct accusations. However, given that the prime minister's interlocutor is police colonel Momi Meshulam, who previously investigated at least two corruption scandals involving him, the prosecution's hint is quite clear. Netanyahu is being taken seriously again. At the same time, they are shaking up the journalist pool in search of those through whom additional leaks could have occurred. Over the past few days, the security services have interrogated (and then placed under house arrest) the editor-in-chief of The Jerusalem Post, Tzvika Klein, and the diplomatic correspondent of Israel Hayom, Shirit Avitan Cohen. The journalist and columnist Yossi Yehoshua (Yediot Ahronot), who wrote columns based on leaks from the chancellery, was under surveillance. However, his informant Ari Rosenfeld (who is also formally involved in Qatargate), as it turned out later, transmitted information in a distorted form, which made it difficult to bring charges against Yehoshua. The interrogations are being conducted in a rush and with obvious procedural violations, which is causing criticism not only from Netanyahu's camp, but also from the opposition. The prime minister's parliamentary opponents are asking the intelligence services not to overdo it and to act within the law. THE MAIN WINNER Maintaining the constant hype around "Qatargate" are Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar and Knesset attorney general Gali Baharav-Miara. Both have fallen out of favor with Netanyahu and are about to leave their posts, and are using their remaining leverage to make the prime minister's office more difficult to operate. Moreover, the main beneficiary of "Qatargate" is rather Bar. The existence of a scandal of such scale (which he was also previously authorized to investigate) will allow him to nullify the government's decision to resign and remain at the helm of the Shin Bet. And in a more optimistic scenario - to also retain his post after the early elections, in which the triumph of the opposition is increasingly predicted. Netanyahu pays his opponents back in kind, bringing to light inconvenient facts from their biographies. For example, he recalled to Bar a series of informal visits to Qatar in 2018, when the head of the Shin Bet visited the country (which he has recently publicly called “hostile”) to provide “some services” and conduct informal negotiations. Netanyahu also hints that Bar's model of informal negotiations was little different from the one around which today's "Qatargate" is built. This means that the attempt to blow up a scandal out of Israel's behind-the-scenes work with a potential Arab ally is nothing more than a political witch hunt. Feldstein and Urich's lawyers hold the same position, which significantly strengthens the line of defense. Colleagues in the industry, although they do not voice this publicly, are waiting for an explanation from Bar. THE WAR DOES NOT STOP While Netanyahu's opponents wage battles in courtrooms, the prime minister prefers to act "on the ground." The new Israeli operation in Gaza is gaining momentum and in the south of the enclave has already covered not only the outskirts of the border Rafah, but also the neighboring areas. The prime minister is "directing" the military actions - sometimes personally, and sometimes through the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff. Netanyahu does not hide the task facing the troops: to create a new separation corridor in the south of the Gaza Strip, which the authorities have already named the “Morag corridor.” It will run north of the existing Philadelphi Corridor on the strip's border with Egypt and will separate Rafah from Khan Yunis, creating an expanded security zone in the area. This, in turn, should weaken Hamas' fighting ability, forcing them to accept all Israeli conditions. The operation is quite daring and does not guarantee immediate success. However, while the investigation into Qatargate has reached a dead end, the prime minister is seeking to inflict maximum defeat on Hamas, both militarily and politically, in order to remove from the agenda the thesis about strengthening the position of this movement. Netanyahu remembers the old folk wisdom well: winners are not judged. Even if the triumphant leader is followed by a trail of controversial decisions and scandals with a spy flair. |

NYT columnist says liberals need to get 'upset' over the broken promises [0-3] of the Obama, Biden administrations |
2025-03-27 |
[FoxNews] Ezra Klein said the Obama administration was '0-for-3' on the most ambitious proposals in his stimulus package like high-speed rail New York Times opinion columnist Ezra Klein said Wednesday liberals need to get upset over the failed promises of the Biden and Obama presidencies. Klein joined California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom's podcast where he talked about his new book with The Atlantic's Derek Thompson, "Abundance," which examines why liberal government isn't delivering and finds it's often their own well-intentioned policies and regulations getting in the way. He said the Obama and Biden administrations suffered from this problem. "So much of the political theory of the Biden administration was that if you can show liberal democracy can deliver, you will pull people out of wanting these strongmen who say they're going to burn the whole thing down and give you something out of the ashes," Klein said. He gave the example of the Biden administration celebrating the $42 billion for rural broadband passed in the 2021 infrastructure bill. But with all the multi-stage processes and red-tape, "By the end of the administration, of the 56 states and jurisdictions that were trying to apply for the money, three had made it through." "If the things don't move fast enough, if they don't get to the people fast enough, it's much harder for liberal democracy to make the case that it delivers," he said. Klein then recalled a conversation he had with former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau about California’s high-speed rail effort, which has been in the works for almost two decades with little progress. "I was saying that, the stimulus bill under Obama, that had three big headline projects for reinvestment," he said. "It had high-speed rail, it had smart grid, and it had a nationwide system of interoperable health records." "I remember those days," Newsom responded. "Yeah. 0-for-3," Klein said. "At some point, we gotta be upset about this, you know?" French, German officials opt out after Israel invites far right to antisemitism conf. |
2025-03-16 |
[IsraelTimes] Bernard-Henri Levy and Berlin’s antisemitism czar withdraw from this month’s Jerusalem event after learning who else is on Diaspora Minister Amichai Chikli’s guest list French philosopher Bernard-Henri Levy and two German officials have canceled their participation in an Israeli government-organized conference on combating antisemitism at the end of the month after learning that far-right European figures have been invited. The March 26-27 conference is being organized by Diaspora Minister Amichai Chikli, who has worked to strengthen Israel’s relationship with Europe’s far-right parties, which Israel had long boycotted due to their ties to antisemitism and Nazism. Prominent far-right figures on the International Conference on Combating Antisemitism’s guest list include Jordan Bardella, president of the far-right French National Rally party; Marion Marechal, a far-right French Member of the European Parliament; and Hermann Tertsch, a far-right Spanish Member of the European Parliament. Levy, one of La Belle France’s most prominent public intellectuals and a staunch defender of Israel, was scheduled to be a keynote speaker at the event. But he told the French daily Le Monde that he informed President Isaac Herzog that he would not attend because of the far-right guests. Felix Klein, Germany’s antisemitism czar, told Haaretz he had been unaware of the guest list when he confirmed his attendance, and canceled after seeing who was slated to speak at the event. Volker Beck, a former Bundestag member, also announced he would not attend, writing on X: "If we associate ourselves with extreme right-wing forces, we discredit our common cause; it also goes against my personal convictions and will have a negative impact on our fight against antisemitism within our societies." Officials at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem, which is hosting the event, told Haaretz they were "surprised to hear who the invitees were, as it was clarified that the purpose of the conference is combating antisemitism." They added that they had not yet received a guest list but would examine it once they did. This is the first official Israeli government event to which members of Europe’s radical right have been invited. Chikli’s outspoken support for the European far-right has drawn condemnation from European countries. In December, Romania’s Ambassador to Israel condemned Chikli for holding a phone conversation with presidential candidate Calin Georgescu, who has praised Romanian leaders who oversaw the deaths of some 280,000 Jews during the Holocaust. French President Emmanuel Macron complained to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about Chikli after he publicly endorsed the presidential candidacy of National Rally’s Marine Le Pen in the recent election. The National Rally, currently led by Bardella, has made efforts in recent years to disassociate itself from its antisemitic origins. "My presence in Jerusalem for this major conference against antisemitism demonstrates our absolute commitment to this fight," Bardella told Le Journal du Dimanche. The conference is offering guests a tour of the West Bank, in which "participants shall explore the diverse aspects of life and coexistence in the region, delve into ancient biblical sites, and gain a comprehensive understanding of the region’s strategic importance." Other notable attendees include Herzog, Netanyahu, Argentine President Javier Milei, Anti-Defamation League head Jonathan Greenblatt, and evangelist Mike Evans. Notably, no members of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party were invited. The far-right faction made significant gains in last month’s national election, coming in second in the polls. |

Tortured a subordinate and are approaching his wife: will Netanyahu retain power? |
2025-02-05 |
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited. by Leonid Tsukanov [REGNUM] During his long political career, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly become a defendant in criminal cases, most of them with a pronounced corruption component. However, the prosecution has never managed to unequivocally prove the politician's involvement in gray schemes. ![]() Despite this, the "prosecutor's subpoena" remains a favorite tool of the current prime minister's opponents. They do not abandon the hope of sooner or later finding a weak spot in Netanyahu's defense and undermining the position of his government. However, in pursuit of sensations, the opposition often loses previously gained advantages in cases that have not yet been closed. HUSBAND AND WIFE Although previous cases against the Israeli prime minister either fell apart or (like the Feldshein affair about controlled leaks from the prime minister’s office) did not cause significant damage to his reputation, the attacks on “the unsinkable Bibi” (as Netanyahu is ironically called in Israel) continue. He remains acquitted of charges of corruption, fraud and breach of public trust in three separate cases. In addition, checks are constantly being carried out in relation to the prime minister’s “inner circle”. Thus, the Israeli prosecutor's office recently announced the launch of a criminal investigation against the wife of the current Prime Minister, Sara Netanyahu. At the same time, according to the same press release, police investigations into the case began back in December 2024. The initiator of the procedural investigation was Naama Lazimy, a Labor Party (Avodah) MK. Lazimy insists that the Netanyahu couple and some of their close associates (in particular, the former head of the Prime Minister's political office, Hani Bleiweiss ) secretly created a "militant wing" from among activists of the ruling Likud party. The organization's goal, as noted, was to use social networks and other digital tools to "crush and divide" Netanyahu's political opponents, as well as influence investigative measures against him. Among those who suffered from the actions of the "military wing" is Hadas Klein, who was a key witness in corruption cases in the prime minister's office. Considering that Netanyahu, when he was the leader of the Knesset opposition, really did use popular protests (especially on the Internet) extremely effectively to split the liberal coalition of Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid, and then to destroy the arguments of the investigation and return to the prime minister’s chair, the conclusions about the existence of a special mobilization resource in Likud (under the strict control of the party’s leader) are not without foundation. On the other hand, the "Sara Netanyahu Affair", like previous investigations into the "secret Netanyahu empire", are based mainly on investigative journalism and anonymous sources. The opposition has not yet managed to win over any of the former activists of the ruling party. POLITICAL GAMES Lazimi’s attacks are clearly motivated by political interest – in the last elections, Avoda won only four seats in parliament. Even the tactical alliance with Meretz, which resulted in the creation of the inter-party platform HaDemocratim in the summer of 2024, did not greatly strengthen the left’s position. Early elections could improve the party alignment, especially since after the long war in Gaza and the military adventure in southern Lebanon, the ruling coalition's position has been somewhat undermined, while the opposition, on the contrary, has increased its influence on the potential electorate. Considering that Lazimi is one of the most significant figures not only in Avoda, but also in the entire HaDemocratim, early elections could well bring her a ministerial portfolio. However, to launch the procedures, ironclad arguments against the current cabinet are needed. And a major corruption scandal “at the top” partially solves this problem. PRESSURE ON THE ACCUSED While Netanyahu's enemies are looking for new reasons to accuse him of exceeding his authority and abusing his power, previous investigations, which could well have provoked a split in the ranks of supporters of the "unsinkable Bibi", are falling apart at the seams. Thus, the other day, the former Director General of the Ministry of Communications Shlomo Filber filed a civil lawsuit against the state. In 2015, he was appointed to a senior position in the ministry, which was headed by Netanyahu himself. Today, Filber accuses a large group of high-ranking officials from the Securities Authority, the Public Prosecutor's Office and the police of perjury in a case about the current prime minister's corruption connections. The lawsuit claims his original testimony was "severely altered" under pressure from securities regulators, allegedly "on orders from above." A former prosecution witness paints a very grim picture of the “testimony-coordination” process. According to him, investigators did not hesitate to use torture and even sexual violence against Filber “to make him more compliant,” as well as psychological pressure. The official was held in the Hadarim interrogation prison “under special conditions” and was subjected to psychological pressure during the 60 hours of interrogation – the lights in the interview room were turned off and he was forbidden to sleep. Filber, although he felt remorse for his perjury, could not challenge his own testimony under threat of “career consequences” and possible criminal prosecution by influential participants in the “legal deal.” Among the persons against whom the former official is demanding proceedings be opened are both retired and current officials. And despite the fact that the lawsuit is of a purely civil nature (with a demand for compensation in the amount of 10 million shekels), it is possible that it will soon turn into a serious multi-level investigation. Moreover, the prime minister’s supporters are unlikely to miss the opportunity to intercept the “prosecutor’s subpoena.” The public defeat of the prosecutors’ camp (even if some of them have already resigned and have little to do with the remaining investigations against Netanyahu) will allow the prime minister’s supporters to claim that all the cases against him were fabricated and were a “political order.” Such a turn of events is already fraught with image losses for key Israeli oppositionists, especially those who supervised the work of law enforcement agencies and "orchestrated" the investigations into Netanyahu during the Bennett-Lapid coalition. The prime minister himself will be able to exploit the image of an "innocent victim" with impunity in his zeal for the interests of the country. The advisability of the opposition's fight for early elections in this context raises questions. After 2024 row over Gaza one-sidedness, Berlin festival to show Israeli hostage film |
2025-01-22 |
[IsraelTimes] Documentary ‘A Letter to David’ by director Tom Shoval recalls his friendship with Hamas captive David Cunio; organizers say Arab filmmakers have sought free speech assurances The Berlin Film Festival is set to screen a documentary about an Israeli actor taken hostage by Hamas, organizers said Tuesday, as it looks to move on from a row about alleged antisemitism at last year’s edition. The documentary called “A Letter to David” by Israeli director Tom Shoval recalls his friendship and work with David Cunio who was abducted from his home in Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, 2023, during the devastating attack on Israel led by the Palestinian terror group Hamas. The assault killed 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and 251 people were abducted to the Gaza Strip as hostages. The film is a “tender and deeply personal lament” from Shoval, programming co-director Michael Stutz told reporters at a press conference ahead of the February 13-23 festival. Cunio’s fate remains unknown, with hopes raised by a recent ceasefire agreement that will see Hamas return captives and Israel release Palestinian prisoners from jails. The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry says more than 46,000 people in the Strip have been killed or are presumed dead in the fighting so far, though the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters. Israel says it has killed some 18,000 combatants in battle as of November and another 1,000 terrorists inside Israel on October 7. Israel has said it seeks to minimize civilian fatalities and stresses that Hamas uses Gaza’s civilians as human shields, fighting from civilian areas including homes, hospitals, schools, and mosques. The Berlin awards ceremony last year saw several filmmakers criticize Israel’s military campaign in Gaza. US filmmaker Ben Russell, wearing a Palestinian scarf, accused Israel of committing “genocide” with its bombardment of the densely populated territory. Palestinian filmmaker Basel Adra said the local population was being “massacred” by Israel, to applause from the audience. A spokeswoman for the German government, a staunch ally of Israel, said it was “unacceptable” that the Hamas attack on Israel which triggered the war had not been mentioned at the ceremony. She said that officials would investigate the incident and that Chancellor Olaf Scholz “agrees that such a one-sided stance cannot be allowed to stand.” Amid the widespread anger at the comments at the award ceremony, Israel’s ambassador to Germany, Ron Prosor, said on social media: “Once again, the German cultural scene showcases its bias by rolling out the red carpet exclusively for artists who promote the delegitimization of Israel.” Felix Klein, the government’s commissioner for the fight against antisemitism, told the Funke media group at the time that the “one-sided, anti-Israel statements” show “how widespread antisemitism is not only in the arts and culture scenes, but also in the film industry.” Berlin’s mayor Kai Wegner called the remarks “unacceptable” and said that there was “no place for anti-Semitism in Berlin.” Wegner also said that he expected new festival director Tricia Tuttle to “ensure such incidents do not happen again.” ‘OPEN DIALOGUE’ Tuttle said last month that the furor had put some film directors off the festival because of free speech concerns. “Lots of filmmakers from Arab countries have approached us as well over the last weeks, just to make sure the festival is a space for open dialogue and discourse,” she added on Tuesday. “Where we can, we like to have individual conversations, and we’d encourage filmmakers to come to us to talk to us about this.” |

Diverse Migrants Arrested for Teen Sex Trafficking in Nebraska |
2025-01-11 |
[Breitbart] Six migrants were arrested and charged with trafficking two teen girls for prostitution in Nebraska, authorities report. Police in Omaha reported the arrest of five men and a woman after discovering two girls, a 15 and 16 year old, in a room of the AmericInn, according to KETV-TV. Investigators say that Eduardo Perdomo, 26, and Alfredo Zambrano-Hurtado, 24, brought the two girls to Omaha from Denver. Once in Omaha, the pair reportedly placed an ad selling the girls for sex on a website that advertises prostitution. The accused traffickers were reportedly found after investigators called the numbers on the ad. Police say the others arrested were also discovered through the phone numbers. Police later arrested Vishal Goswami, 31, Kavankumar Patel, 26, and Sumit Chaudhari, 23, in connection with the prostitution of the two girls. “I think sometimes people don’t believe that hey, sex trafficking can’t happen in Omaha, Nebraska. We’re not in a gigantic city. We’re not in a places that you would expect it, but it certainly can. And this is an example of how it can happen,” said Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine. Perdomo and Zambrano-Hurtado reportedly made “incriminating remarks” indicating that they transported the minor girls to Omaha for purposes of sex. Investigators also found photos of minor girls in sexually explicit poses on Perdomo’s phone. Some of the same photos on his phone were also posted to the prostitution sites. Officials said that Martinez-Gonzalez is in the U.S. illegally from Columbia. Perdomo is an illegal alien from Venezuela. And Zambrano-Hurtado is also an illegal alien. The immigration status of Chaudhari, Goswami, and Patel was not reported. Perdomo was booked on two counts of labor or sex trafficking of a minor, criminal conspiracy, visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct, and possession of child pornography, and was held on a ten million bond. Zambrano-Hurtado and Martinez-Gonzalez were charged with two counts of sex trafficking of a minor and criminal conspiracy. Bond was set at $5 million for each of them. Chaudhari, who tried to pay $60 for sex with one of the girls, was arrested for first-degree sexual assault and sex trafficking of a minor, and was held on no bond. Goswami and Kavankumar, who were also accused of paying $60 for sex, were arrested for sexual assault of a child and sex trafficking of a minor and were also held on no bond. The suspects had their first court appearances on Thursday. |

Jimmy Carter the terrible, distorting reality in Gaza and other commentary |
2024-12-31 |
[NYPOST] CARTER THE TERRIBLE Jimmy Carter ''was a terrible president but an even worse former president,'' thunders National Review's Philip A. Klein. His ''true legacy is one of economic misery at home and embarrassment on the world stage.'' ''He left the country in its weakest position of the post-World War II era'' and ''spent the rest of his life meddling in U.S. foreign policy'' in a ''manner that could fairly be described as treasonous.'' And that's to say nothing about his ''obsessive hatred of Israel.'' We'll see ''an effort to rewrite history and claim that the 39th president was underappreciated and that people have been too harsh on him. But the truth is that historians have not been harsh enough.'' CONSERVATIVE: GOOD RIDDANCE TO GEC CENSORSHIP By denying it funding, Congress has forced ''the Global Engagement Center, an office housed within the State Department .%u2009.%u2009. to close up shop,'' cheers the Washington Examiner's Gabe Kaminsky. ''The taxpayer-backed GEC,'' created in the name of thwarting misinformation, ''violated its mandate to work only overseas and devolved into a partisan enabler of speech suppression in the United States'' by granting funds ''to the British Global Disinformation Index, which created a blacklist of'' right-leaning US-based websites (including The Post) that reported on such stories as ''the Hunter Biden laptop story and COVID-19 lab leak hypothesis.'' The GEC ''even circulated internal guidance with the aim of discrediting'' critical reporters such as Kaminsky and Matt Taibbi. Its defunding ''is a further vindication of our reporting on its seemingly unlawful activities.'' MEDIA WATCH: DISTORTING REALITY IN GAZA ''Nothing is as it seems'' in Gaza, fumes Commentary's Seth Mandel. Take the Kamal Adwan Hospital and its medical director, Hussam Abu Safyia. The New York Times mentioned ''dismissively'' that Israel ''claims'' Hamas was using the hospital, and Safyia penned an opinion column griping about conditions. But a recent IDF raid on the site revealed it was in fact hosting 240 suspected terrorists, ''including Safyia.'' Many tried to flee. ''It's easy to see through the mainstream press's smokescreen'' around ''medical staff and patients who aren't medical staff or patients, trying to flee the hospital that isn't a hospital.'' ''Journalists who aren't journalists,'' ''teachers who aren't teachers'' and ''aid workers who aren't aid workers — who are these folks even trying to fool?'' FROM THE LEFT: UNCOVERED STORY OF THE YEAR Racket News' Matt Taibbi notes that ''2024 was the year in which people we used to call 'elites''' fell back on ''trying to bullshit their way through crises holding no cards at all,'' with ''over-covered pseudo-stor[ies]'' like ''the politics of joy'' and ''ostentatious non-coverage of big, real questions, many still unanswered.'' For one: ''Who's running the county?'' ''We now know America hasn't had a functioning president for at least this year and probably longer, which means someone other than the president has been making presidential decisions.'' Indeed, ''this real-world Dave script involves someone not named Biden steering presidential authority to approve billions for shooting wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, while handing out pardons in record numbers, among God knows how many other things. Is there even a word for fraud on that scale? A lot of people need to go to jail behind this caper.'' URBAN BEAT: DEMS VS. 'LIVABLE' CITIES The horrific video of a ''woman burning to death'' on a Big Apple subway ''is a snapshot of the city's problems: crime, mentally deranged and intoxicated vagrants, undocumented migrants and unsafe subways,'' observes The Wall Street Journal's Allysia Finley. Though New York City's ''subways are a microcosm of its disorder,'' it ''seems to be an epidemic in big Democrat-controlled cities like Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles.'' While ''Democrats love to talk about making cities 'livable,''' it's ''their high taxes, crime and chaos'' that have made them ''unbearable.'' ''When Christmas dinner conversations turn to a poor soul burned to death on a New York subway, Democrats have a five-alarm fire on their hands.'' A man and his mailbox: How Ohioan's dispute over rural mail delivery became a federal case |
2024-12-20 |
[Cincinnati Enquirer] On a cold December afternoon, standing next to the empty wood frame where his mailbox used to be, Chuck Klein tried to explain why he’s spent so much time the past few years sending emails to government officials, writing letters to a president and a congressman, working with a private investigator and a lawyer, and, finally, suing the U.S. Postal Service. "This is where it was," Klein said, motioning to a mailbox-sized hole in the frame. "This is where we want the box to be." It's as simple as that, Klein said. He wants his mailbox back. But after years of arguing with the Postal Service, the seemingly minor bureaucratic dispute over the fate of Klein’s beige stainless steel mailbox has become something more. It is now, quite literally, a federal case that challenges the mission and obligations of an institution as old as the nation itself. What is the Postal Service supposed to be? What are its obligations to its tens of millions of customers? Klein didn’t set out to ask those questions, but his years-long campaign to win back his mailbox is raising them all the same. In Klein’s view, none of this was necessary. For several years, the Postal Service delivered mail to his old mailbox on the edge of his 130-acre property in Brown County, about an hour east of Cincinnati. If he received a package too big for the mailbox, the carrier brought it to his door. ![]() |
