![]() 8 suspects arrested over suspicious transfer of 381 young men to Nangarhar [KhaamaPress] At least eight people have been arrested over the suspicious transfer of 381 young men to eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan. The provincial government media office in a statement said the young men were being transferred to eastern Nangarhar province under the guise of providing work for the collection of pine nuts. The statement further added that the suspects and the young men were arrested during an operation in Khogyani district of Nangarhar. The governor’s office also added that a delegation consisting of deputy provincial intelligence chief, police chief, officials from the provincial and district administrative government has been formed to investigate the incident. The detained suspects are in the custody for further questioning while the young men have been sent back to their relative provinces, the statement added. It is yet not clear for what purposes the young men were transferred to Nangarhar. However, the Taliban group and ISIS Khurasan loyalists often hire young men in their ranks to conduct terrorist related and insurgency activities. Both the Taliban and ISIS loyalists are active in some remote districts of Nangarhar as counter-terrorism operations are underway to eliminate the terrorist groups from the province. 11 Taliban militants join peace process in Nangarhar
Provincial governor’s spokesman Ataullah Khogyani said the militants were previously operating under the command of Jalat Khan in Surkh Rod and Khogyani districts. Khogyani further added that the militants joined peace process due to the ongoing efforts of the National Directorate of Security and handed over 11 weapons to the authorities after joining peace today. The Taliban militants who joined peace process said they decided to renounce violence after reaching to a conclusion that the victims of the ongoing conflict are only Afghan people. They also vowed to live peaceful lives after this and contribute in the reconstruction of the country similar as the other Afghans. In the meantime, a member of the provincial council Dr. Nasir Kamwal, the director of the provincial youths department Matifullah Ahmadzai, and deputy director of the youths national unity community Abdul Rahman expressed satisfaction that 11 Taliban militants have reconciled with the government and called on the other militants to participate in peace talks. | |

The statement further added that Baryalai was expert in making magnetic bombs besides he was conducting other insurgency activities including murders and bombings. Baryalai was looking to transport 6 magnetic bombs to Jalalabad city to target the civilian and military vehicles when he was arrested from Shah Amanullah town. According to NDS, the intelligence operatives also confiscated two pistols with silencers from Baryalai. Lashkargah Faces Serious Security Threats |

Local officials in Helmand on Friday said Lashkargah city, the provincial capital, is faced with serious security threats and that they need more reinforcements to secure the southern city. "It is difficult to defeat the insurgents if more troops are not deployed to the city, because right now the war has intensified in most parts of the city," said Karim Atal, head of Helmand Provincial Council. A security source told TOLOnews that due to a lack of coordination among Afghan security forces, U.S troops have taken the war leadership in Helmand. However, local officials have rejected the claim. Meanwhile, a number of displaced families in Helmand said they are facing with an unknown fate. "The residents who are hosting the displaced families are in trouble. Nearly 10 to 20 families are living in one house. Children are going through difficult times. Believe me, tonight I have not slept even for a single minutes," said Jalat Khan, member of a displaced family in Helmand. "All people have left. You will not find a home with residents here," said Mir Hamza, another displaced person in the province. Meanwhile, Abdul Jabbar Qahraman, head of military operations in Helmand said they need only one week to defeat the insurgents in the province. "As a general, I have assessed the dimensions of the war and the abilities of the enemy. Remember that from now on, I will need only seven days to end the conflicts in Helmand," he stated. He added: "After this, anyone, any commander and any policeman who leave their position, will be treated based on the law," said Abdul Rahman Saber, head of police operations in Helmand. |

Blast destroys vehicle of JUI-S leader |

[Dawn] The vehicle of the provincial chief of Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam ...Assembly of Islamic Clergy, or JUI, is a Pak Deobandi (Hanafi) political party. There are two main branches, one led by Maulana Fazlur Rahman, and one led by Maulana Samiul Haq. Fazl is active in Pak politix and Sami spends more time running his madrassah. Both branches sponsor branches of the Taliban, though with plausible deniability... -Sami (JUI-S) was destroyed completely when an improvised bomb went off in it here on Thursday. Police said that unidentified persons might have planted the bomb in the car of JUI-S provincial chief Maulana Yousaf Shah in the night. The bomb was detected in the car when it was taken in the morning to a nearby service station. The driver informed police and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) but the bomb went kaboom!before the officials reached there. The JUI-S provincial chief, who is also a close friend of party chief Maulana Samiul Haq, was the apparent target. Later, BDS personnel collected evidence from the site of the blast. They said that two to three kilograms of explosives were used in the blast. Maulana Shah told journalists that the people, who kidnapped and later killed Maulana Naseeb Khan Wazir, were involved in the act of terrorism. He alleged that some hidden hands were trying to target leaders of Defa-e-Pakistain Council and Darul Uloom Haqania. He said that they could not be frightened by such tactics. "We will continue our efforts for supremacy of Islam and defense of our motherland," the JUI-S leader added. Meanwhile, ...back at the wreckage, Captain Poindexter awoke groggily, his hand still stuck in the Ming vase... one primitive was killed and five persons were maimed seriously in a kaboom on a passenger vehicle in Ghulam Banda near the semi-autonomous tribal area of Kohat on Thursday. The bomb was planted at a bicycle that was parked along the Kohat-Shindand Road. It was a remote controlled device, which went off as soon as the vehicle reached the place where the bicycle was parked, sources said. A passenger identified as Khan Mohammad was killed on the spot while Noor Mohammad, Jalat Khan, Mohammad Nawaz and Shahid Mahmood were maimed in the blast.Police and volunteers rushed the injured to KDA divisional headquarters hospital. The Bomb Disposal Squad collected evidence from the scene. |

Six Lashkar-i-Islam men killed in Bara |

![]() The six were identified as Hazrat Muhammad, a shura member of the organisation and head of its 'court'; Abdul Khaliq, technical operator of LI's illegal FM radio station; Yarmat Khan, a nephew of LI chief Mangal Bagh; and Nawab Khan Akkakhel, Jalat Khan and Kamran who belonged to Bar Qambarkhel chapter of the organisation. According to officials, the militants were killed in a shootout with security forces when they tried to escape after they had been captured. In a call made from an unspecified place, LI spokesman Haji Zar Khan claimed that all those killed were tribesmen detained during the search operation. |
