Muslim clerics in Somalia denounce religious extremism
2023-01-29
Real sentiment or taqiya? Only time will tell.
[Garowe] Over 300 Islamic holy mans from Somalia and the diaspora have issued a fatwa denouncing religious extremism in all its forms and urged the public to support the ongoing Federal Government of Somalia (FGS)—led an offensive against al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
and other terror groups.

The holy mans issued the edict on Thursday in the capital, Mogadishu, after four days of deliberating on religious extremism.

The 14-point declaration emphatically denounced al-Shabaab, the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and other like-minded groups saying their murderous Moslem ideology had no religious basis and branded them enemies of Islam.

"The conference unanimously agrees that al-Shabaab, ISIS and other like-minded groups have deviated from the true teachings of Islam and that they are considered enemies of the Islamic religion and the Somali population," said Dr Osman Maalim Mohamud from Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Fifteen of the nineteen WTC hijackers were Saudis, and most major jihadi commanders were Saudis, to include Osama bin Laden. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman quietly folded that tent in 2016, doing terrible things to the guys running it, and has since been dragging the kingdom into the current century...
who read the declaration in the company of other holy mans.

They also warned against financing murderous Moslem groups, providing them refuge and seeking justice in their courts.

"Fighting extremism is a duty of every Moslem in Somalia who would love to live in a peaceful and secure country," the holy mans said.

The religious scholars thanked individuals who share information about the Lions of Islam with the authorities. They described them as nationalists who had the best interest of the country.

The four-day conference opened on 23rd January and was facilitated by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Endowment of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).

Religious Affairs Federal Minister, Sheikh Mukhtar Roobow Ali, thanked the holy mans for heeding the government’s call to attend the conference and give their verdict on extremism in accordance with the true teachings of Islam.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Prime Minister, H.E. Hamza Abdi Bare, welcomed the declaration and thanked the holy mans for their selfless service to the country, promising full implementation of the fatwa.

He urged the Somali population to heed the holy mans’ clarion call so the country can enjoy peace, prosperity, and development.

"I welcome the conference and the outcome. The declaration issued was carefully thought through and indeed addresses the many challenges our people face today. It was important for the holy mans to clarify the truth," said the Prime Minister.

"I want to promise here since this conference was also officially opened by the President, that the government will implement the outcome of this conference. As Head of the Executive, I promise you all that we will fully implement decisions reached here," he added.

The Chairman of the Somalia Religious Scholars Council, Sheikh Bashir Ahmed Salaad, urged the youth who are still fighting against the terror groups to lay down their arms and stop shedding the blood of their fellow countrymen and women.

"I want to tell the brainwashed youth to stop destroying your own people’s properties, maiming and killing them. You still have a chance in the sight of God to seek forgiveness. We, the public, are ready to forgive you," Sheikh Bashir said.

The declaration also had specific recommendations for the government, politicians, Somali security forces, business people and the public.

Among the recommendations is the creation of a religious council, financial support for religious programmes to effectively fight extremism and proper Federal and State government support for reconciliation and peacebuilding initiatives.

The holy mans also called for similar events every year to provide guidance on religious matters and other issues that impact the public.

Representatives from various Somali women groups participated in the deliberations and shared their perspectives on the challenges facing women in the country.

Two LeT terrorists apprehended by villagers in Reasi — is accused BJP IT chief?
2022-07-04

Police on Sunday said that two LeT Lions of Islam were apprehended by villagers in Tuksan village in J&K's Reasi district for which DGP announced Rs 2 lakh reward for the villagers.

A cache of arms and ammunition had been recovered from the accused.

"Hats off to the courage of villagers of Tuksan, in #Reasi district . Two #Lions of Islam of LeT apprehended by villagers with weapons; 2AK #rifles, 7 #Grenades and a #Pistol. DGP announces #reward of Rs 2 lakhs for villagers, " a police front man said.

He identified the accused duo as Faizal Ahmed Dar son of Bashir Ahmed Dar of Pulwama and a "categorised terrorist" Talib Hussain son of Haider Shah of Rajauri.

Lashkar terrorist caught in Jammu was BJPs IT Cell Chief; war of words between BJP-Cong

[OneIndia] A political slugfest erupted between the BJP and the Congress in Jammu and Kashmir after a top Lashker-e-Taiba terrorist, overpowered by locals and handed over to the police, was reported to be an active member of the saffron party who was recently selected as its IT and social media cell in charge of the minority morcha in Jammu province.

As the news about villagers overpowering Talib Hussain Shah and handing him and his associate Faisal Ahmad Dar to the police surfaced, purported pictures of Shah with JK BJP chief Ravinder Raina and his participation in party functions emerged on social media.

The pictures included the one where Raina was presenting him a bouquet and a letter issued by party leader Sheikh Bashir, assigning him the responsibility of new IT and social media incharge of Minority Morcha (Jammu province) on May 9 While Raina dismissed the presence of Shah in his party as a "conspiracy hatched by Pakistan to target him and the party headquarters", Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said the ruling party should answer to the nation the alleged presence of terrorists in their ranks and holding important party positions.

This is a second incident within two days where it has been alleged that terror accused had links with the BJP. The two people arrested in Udaipur were alleged by the Congress to have links with the Saffron party. Congress leader Pawan Khera on Saturday had cited Facebook posts showing accused Riyaz Akhtari with local BJP leaders and sought to know whether the Centre had moved quickly to transfer the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) due to this reason.

The charge was denied by the BJP's IT cell chief Amit Malviya saying the accused were not BJP members and said the opposition party was peddling in fake news. Shah and Dar were in possession of two AK Assault rifles, seven grenades, a pistol and a huge quantity of ammunition when they were confronted by Muslim villagers and disarmed before handing them over to police after tying them with ropes inside a dhok (mud-house) in the higher reaches of Gulab Garh.

While lauding the people for assisting police in capturing the two most-wanted LeT terrorists, JK BJP chief said "they were part of a conspiracy hatched from Pakistan to target him and the party headquarters".

"He introduced himself as a journalist and took my interviews several times at my party office sometime back. He developed close liaison with party activists and leaders after coming to our headquarters (Trikuta Nagar Jammu)," Raina told PTI. Raina claimed that he came to know from the security agencies that Shah was a mole planted by Pakistan-based terrorists to target BJP headquarters and the leadership including him.

"The arrest of the duo is a big success for the security forces as a major conspiracy of Pakistan has been thwarted. I also came to know that he had shared the pictures of the BJP headquarters with his handlers across the border," he said. Raina said terror organisations, frustrated by BJP's expansion in Jammu and Kashmir, have repeatedly threatened him over in the past many years and since they failed to target him, they hatched a conspiracy to plant their activist in the BJP to target him and other leaders of the party.

However, he said BJP is determined to wipe-out Pakistan-sponsored terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir and "we will not be cowed down by threats or conspiracies". The BJP chief claimed he was also told by the security agencies that Shah was keeping a close watch on his movement in the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch and was passing the information to his handlers in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

"I have full faith in the training, ability and courage of our police and security forces who are determined to root out terrorism. With the arrest of Shah and his associate, the Pakistani conspiracy to target me has failed," he said.

Reacting strongly, the Congress chief spokesperson said "this is for the first time that such a thing had happened (when an office bearer of a party is directly involved in terrorism." "BJP should answer to the nation about the presence of terrorists in their ranks holding important party positions. It is a very serious matter and a threat to the security of the nation," he said. Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Director General of Police Dilbag Singh lauded the villagers for their courage and announced cash rewards for them.

A Special NIA Court on Monday said that it will frame formal charges against Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik
...chairman of one of the two factions of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front. JKLF is a Kashmiri nationalist organization founded in Birmingham, UK in 1977. Branches weren't actually established in Kashmir for another ten years. It has the usual demands for separation of J&K from secular India so it can become an independent Islamic rathole. It seems to have no interest in Pak Kashmir breaking away to join it. In 1994 Malik renounced violence after he was released from jail and from that point he and his organization pursued peaceful means to impose their will on the region...

Kashmiri separatist leaders, including Yasin Malik, Shabbir Shah, Masarat Alam, former MLA Rashid Engineer, businessman Zahoor Ahmad Shah Watali, Bitta Karate, Aftab Ahmad Shah, Avatar Ahmad Shah, Naeem Khan, Bashir Ahmed Bhat, alias Peer Saifullah and several others have also been framed under charges for criminal conspiracy, waging war against the country and other unlawful activities.

In the order dated March 16, the NIA special Judge Praveen Singh had said: "The above analysis reflects that the statements of witnesses and documentary evidence have connected almost all the accused with each other and to a common object of secession, to the commonality of means they were to use, their close association to terrorist/terrorist organizations under the guiding hand and funding of Pak establishment."

Notably, the court has discharged three, namely Kamran Yusuf, Javed Ahmad Bhatt and Syedah Aasiya Firdous Andrabi.

state, more than 700 kilometers (430 miles) from the capital Mogadishu, several sources told AFP.

Abdirahman Adan, commander of a paramilitary unit in Galmudug state, said by telephone it was difficult to know the exact number of dead. But for the moment they knew that 12 people, six of them from the security forces, had died in Wisil.

The attackers had been pushed back and many of them had been killed, he added, without saying how many.

Abdullahi Sahal, a community leader in Wisil, also said six civilians and six soldiers had been killed.

The attack started with the detonation of a vehicle loaded with explosives, said another paramilitary commander, Mohammed Mire.

"After the boom-mobile explosion, they started heavy machine guns," he said. But the security pushed them back, inflicting losses, and they were now in full control, he added.

Ahmed Ayanle, a local resident, said: "There was a enormous explosion which hit the town before a heavy exchange of gunfire started early in the morning."

Another local, Bashir Ahmed, said he had seen three dead soldiers and 10 others maimed.

The al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab confirmed the attack and claimed 34 soldiers at the military base had been killed.
