Yasin Malik’s unilateral trial in India widely condemned |
2022-05-13 |
[Dawn] AJK Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas on Thursday condemned Yasin Malik ...chairman of one of the two factions of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front. JKLF is a Kashmiri nationalist organization founded in Birmingham, UK in 1977. Branches weren't actually established in Kashmir for another ten years. It has the usual demands for separation of J&K from secular India so it can become an independent Islamic rathole. It seems to have no interest in Pak Kashmir breaking away to join it. In 1994 Malik renounced violence after he was released from jail and from that point he and his organization pursued peaceful means to impose their will on the region... ’s unilateral trial by a "kangaroo court" in India, two days after the incarcerated Jammu Kashmir ![]() Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there.... Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman was virtually coerced into pleading guilty in a fabricated and politically motivated case of terrorism filed by the notorious National Investigation Agency. Mr Malik’s spouse Mushaal Hussain Mullick and hundreds of others who took to Twitter and other social media platforms said the JKLF chief was a freedom fighter and the struggle for freedom was not a crime. Many feared that the Indian government could eliminate him on fake charges. In a statement, Rafiq Dar, chief spokesperson for the JKLF, said the denial of fair trial to Mr Malik was yet another clear manifestation of political vendetta against him at the behest of Narendra Modi-led Hindutva regime aimed at silencing the popular and the most powerful voice of people’s right for independence of the internationally-disputed state of Jammu Kashmir. He said that ever since Mr Malik’s arrest on Feb 22, 2019, particularly after his transfer to New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail on May 10, 2019, the JKLF chief had decided not to contest these fabricated cases and had withdrawn his defence lawyer in protest after observing and anticipating the unfair and biased court proceedings and the ill-intentions of the Indian government. A hashtag about the incarcerated JKLF chairman remained in top trends in Pakistain on Twitter on Thursday. Under the hashtag #ReleaseYasinMalik, netizens not only dismissed and condemned the fake claim by the Indian media that he had pleaded guilty before the Indian court, but also drew attention to what they believed was a serious threat to the life of the JKLF chief and called for his immediate release. "Yasin Malik is a political prisoner, a liberation [movement] leader who has been peacefully championing the Kashmiris’ just cause of freedom the way Mahatma Gandhi and Nehru fought against British rule," the AJK premier said. Calling for a befitting response to counter Indian media’s negative propaganda, he asked the pro-freedom social media activists to refrain from "copying and pasting" what Indian media had been propagating. Former ambassador Abdul Basit tweeted: "Yasin Malik is an indisputable Kashmiri leader & in Tihar Jail, Delhi for years. [The] Modi Govt is preparing false grounds to hang him as was done in case of Maqbool Bhat & Afzal Guru. Kashmiris will not rest till given their right to self-determination as was promised to them by [the] UN." |

Jaish-e-Mohammad owns up Jammu Army camp attack, Masood Azhar hails jihadis |
2018-02-19 |
[Indian Express] Jaish-e-Mohammad ...literally Army of Mohammad, a Pak-based Deobandi terror group founded by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000, after he split with the Harkat-ul-Mujaheddin. In 2002 the government of Pervez Musharraf bannedthe group, which changed its name to Khaddam ul-Islam and continued doing what it had been doing before without missing a beat... chief Maulana Masood Azhar ![]() has written about the attack on the Sunjuwan military station in Jammu on February 10, in the latest issue of the outfit’s online mouthpiece, saying, "Only three mujahideen destroyed the Sunjuwan military camp. For three days, they withstood thousands of troops, special squads, helicopters and tanks. Entire India from head to toe panicked." In another article in the issue, a Jaish leader says the attack was launched by "the Afzal Guru squad" of Jaish. Azhar wrote about the attack in his weekly column ’Rang-u-Noor’, under his pen name Saidi, in the February 14 edition of Al Qalam. Though he didn’t take responsibility for the attack, he wrote that "the attack by these three fidayeens has carried forward the legacy of Khalid Bin Waleed" ‐ in a reference to the legendary military commander of the era during the advent of Islam. The attack was carried out at the military station by three murderous Moslems in the wee hours of February 10, leaving five soldiers and a relative of a soldier dead. All the three Death Eaters, whom the Army identified as Pakistain nationals belonging to the JeM, were later bumped off. "Fighting and defeating big armies with few men is truly one of the colours of the jihadi legacy of Khalid Bin Waleed,’’ Azhar wrote. "When I heard the details of the attack on the Sunjuwan military camp by Kashmiri mujahideen, I remembered Khalid Bin Waleed. Imagine, despite such a huge strength of the enemy, three mujahideen entered a military camp and fought for more than 50 hours, targeting the enemy posts. Is it any ordinary thing? There were miracles taking place. The Kashmiri leadership was saying that the number of mujaideen is only three. Next day India claimed that three mujahideen have been martyred, but the sounds of kabooms and firing were still coming from within the camp. With the help of media, the entire world was watching this miracle. If all the three were already martyred, who were fighting then? Whose fear made them take tanks inside the camp? Why were they (the Indian Army) blowing up their own buildings? India should reflect on this attack and they will understand that defeat is their destiny." |

Jaish-e-Mohammad targets sleeping families at Sunjuwan Army camp, kills two soldiers

![]() ...literally Army of Mohammad, a Pak-based Deobandi terror group founded by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000, after he split with the Harkat-ul-Mujaheddin. In 2002 the government of Pervez Musharraf bannedthe group, which changed its name to Khaddam ul-Islam and continued doing what it had been doing before without missing a beat... bully boyz struck at an Army camp in Sunjuwan town on national highway 1A connecting Jammu to Srinagar, killing two soldiers and injuring nine others, including a Colonel and a girl child. Three of the bully boyz were neutralised in the Army operation which is still on. Most of the camp residents in over 150 houses were evacuated to flush out other terrorists. Sources said choppers and drones were used to keep track of the movement of the terrorists. IAF para commandos were airlifted to Jammu from Udhampur and Sarsawa. Intel sources said the attack on Army's residential complex bears the stamp of Jaish-e-Mohammad. It coincided with the fifth anniversary of the hanging of Afzal Guru, a convict in the 2001 Parliament attack by Jaish, on Friday. Soldiers and their families were sleeping when the bully boyz struck in the dark, firing indiscriminately. The martyred Army officers have been identified as Havaldar Mohammad Ashraf Mir and JCO Madan Lal Choudhary. The JCO's daughter, Neha, is among the injured. Defence spokesperson Col N N Joshi said the injured included five women and kiddies. Two of them are critical. "Due to presence of women and kiddies in the housing colony, the operations are being progressed cautiously to minimise casualties," the defence statement said. This is the second fidayeen attack on the camp. A dozen soldiers were killed when the same camp was attacked by bully boyz on June 28, 2003. Dressed in combat fatigues, the bully boyz took strategic position in the housing area of the camp and engaged security forces in fierce gunbattle through the day on Saturday. A reinforcement of Army's Special Forces and SOG rushed to the camp and cordoned off the whole area amid heavy firing. IGP Jammu Zone SD Singh Jamwal said around 4.50-4.55am, a group of bully boyz barged into the camp, just 8 km from the J&K legislative assembly building. He said the exact number of bully boyz is not ascertained yet. Sources said five to six bully boyz may have entered the camp through an open culvert. On noticing suspicious movement, the guard on duty opened fire, the IGP said. Following a brief exchange of fire, the bully boyz rushed to the nearby family quarters. J&K parliamentary affairs minister Abdul Rehman Veeri informed the House that both the Army officers killed in the attack are from the state. Four of the injured, Col Rohit Solanki, Havaldar Abdul Hamid, Lance Naik Bahadur Singh and Neha, were shifted to Government Medical College here. The camp is spread over many acres of land along the busy national highway. It is located adjacent to several residential colonies, shopping arcades, motor showrooms and private schools on the bypass. Following the terror attack, Jammu has been put on high alert while all educational institutions within half a kilometre radius of the camp were closed for the day. Col Joshi said the slain bully boyz were carrying AK-56 assault rifles and large amount of ammunition and hand grenades. Belongings of the slain bully boyz confirmed they were from Jaish-e-Mohammed.
The camp is located on the outskirts of the city of Jammu. The area was cordoned off and schools closed. The Himalayan region of Kashmire is divided between India and Pakistain. Both claim the region in its entirety.

Massive hunt against JeM in South Kashmir |
2017-08-28 |
![]() ...literally Army of Mohammad, a Pak-based Deobandi terror group founded by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000, after he split with the Harkat-ul-Mujaheddin. In 2002 the government of Pervez Musharraf bannedthe group, which changed its name to Khaddam ul-Islam and continued doing what it had been doing before without missing a beat... (JeM) in South Kashmire comes as a surprise for the security forces who had wiped out the outfit from the area two years ago by killing its two top commanders in Tral, Pulwama. The attack on District Police Lines (DPL) Pulwama is first strike by Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) in South Kashmire that led to killing of eight security force personnel. The attack comes at time when security forces achieved major successes against forces of Evil this year especially in South Kashmire. This year security forces killed 136 forces of Evil so far after they launched major offensive against them especially in the last two months. Sources said that security agencies had inputs about a possible strike in South Kashmire. They said that the group was intending to target the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police Pulwama but heightened security prevented the strike there. They said that the fidayeen forced their entry into the DPL Pulwama by cutting the wire and jumping over the fence. They said that the proposed visit of former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah prevented the further casualties. "As Omar was to visit Shopian, the police men who normally get ready for deployments by 5 am were ready on Saturday one hour ahead of the schedule, at the same time when the fidaydeen struck", they said. Sources said that after entering the DPL, the fidayeen rushed towards the SOG camp inside the complex but alert guards fired at them forcing them to enter the residential block where they were neutralized after day long shootout. Sources said that the group recently infiltrated into Kashmire from Poonch side and comprised 5 members including 3 fidayeen of Afzal Guru Squad. The squad had earlier carried attacks in North Kashmire near the LoC in Tanghdar and this is first strike of the JeM in South Kashmire. JeM was trying to set up base in South Kashmire and its two senior commanders, Adil Pathan and Burme stayed in South Kashmire for two years but failed to get any foothold before they were killed in Tral on October 8, 2015. Security forces had launched hunt against the two members of the JeM who were part of the fidayeen squad and are looking for the locals who have provided them logistics to carry out the attack. In the meantime, police today indentified the three fidayeen as Dawood, Abu Bakar and Abu Saad, all Pak nationals. Three AK-47 rifles, six magazines and one UBGL was recovered from the encounter site. In the meantime, at Pattan in North Kashmire, large number of people joined the CRPF in the last rites of a CRPF man, Mohammad Yaseen Teli, killed in fidayeen attack at Pulwama. The cop had received Gallantry award on last Independence Day for his extraordinary role in counter-insurgency operation at Nowhatta on August 15, 2016. |

JeM's teenage Fidayeen of Afzal Guru Squad arrested |
2016-02-25 |
![]() Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out! a teenage Fidayeen of Jaish-e-Mohammad ...literally Army of Mohammad, a Pak-based Deobandi terror group founded by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000, after he split with the Harkat-ul-Mujaheddin. In 2002 the government of Pervez Musharraf bannedthe group, which changed its name to Khaddam ul-Islam and continued doing what it had been doing before without missing a beat... (JeM) outfit from Baramulla who carried out an attack three months ago along with his three associates at an Army camp near the Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar area of North Kashmire's Kupwara district. Mohammad Sadiq Gujjar, 17, son of Walid Mohammad Gujjar resident of Sialkote tehsil Dehska in Pakistain was arrested by Police and Army's 52 and 46 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) from Baramulla. His three associates Hussain, Malik and Rizwan were killed inside Army camp at Tanghdar on November 25. Arrest of Gujjar is a major success for police in North Kashmire as he is the only Fidayeen of Afzal Guru squad of JeM who was arrested after carrying out the attack on 3/1 GR battalion headquarters at Tanghdar. The Guru squad of JeM carried out three Fidayeen attacks so far including last month's Pathankot attack on Indian Air Force base. Gujjar was part of four Fidayeen who carried out attack on the Army camp in Tanghdar on November 25 last year. He has told his interrogators that he set afire the Oil depot inside the Army camp at Tanghdar and destroyed several vehicles before he was asked by his colleagues to leave. The Fidayeen told his interrogators that the group of four JeM gunnies were launched from Athmuqam in Pakistain Indian Kashmiree (PoK) and was tasked to carry out Fidayeen attack on any camp near the LoC. "The group with the help of GPS devices started on foot on November 24 at around 10 pm. from near the LoC on PoK side and continued their journey till they reached the Tanghdar Army camp in around 6-7 hours", he told interrogators. "After they carried out the attack, Gujjar was the only teenager in the group who was asked by his colleagues to leave. He fled to nearby forests and was there hiding for three days. He was asked by his handlers that he should go to Kupwara and they will help him. After three days, he changed his clothes and boarded a Sumo along with his weapon from Tanghdar. He reached Kupwara where he befriended some people who helped him to travel to Baramulla", Gujjar told his interrogators. In Baramulla town, the Fidayeen spent around 15 days. However, a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all... he was arrested by police after his suspicious movements. Later, police arrested a person who gave him shelter and where he had dumped his weapon. Police also detained 7 people who have provided him shelter and assistance and also recovered his weapon. However, a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all... others were let off and only two were arrested. Coming from a well off farmer family in Sialkote, Gujjar has five brothers and two sisters. He is the middle one. He was lured by his school friend who is also a JeM krazed killer into militancy. He received three month's training in JeM camp where he was motivated for Jihad besides arms training. Army eliminated his three associates, in a shootout inside the Army camp in Tanghdar in which a generator operator of Military Engineering Service (MES), Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh, was also killed and an Army man injured on November 25 last year. |

Geelani sent to police custody |
2016-02-17 |
![]() Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'! for sedition in connection with an event at the Press Club of India here, was today remanded to two-day police custody by a Delhi court. Geelani was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Harvinder Singh, where the police sought his custodial interrogation for two days to identify those involved in raising anti-India slogans. "Police investigation is integral part of investigation and the accused has said that he can identify those who raised anti-India slogans... Since he (Geelani) was the convener of the meeting, therefore, the case of grant of police custody is made out," the court said. The police told the court that an event was held on February 10 in which banners were placed showing Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhat as deaders and anti-national slogans along with slogans demanding independence for Kashmire were raised. It also said the hall in the club was booked by Geelani through one person Ali Javed by using his credit card and another person Mudassar was also involved. The police told the court that it has also accessed a CCTV footage in which some unidentified persons were seen shouting slogans and Geelani was required for the purpose of their identification. Advocate Satish Tamta, appearing for Geelani, opposed the police custody saying he was only the convenor and the event was open for all. "If people have come and shouted slogans, I am not responsible. I cannot get anyone arrested as I don't recognise anybody. It was an open entry and not restricted by any invitation card. Whatever I know I have told them already since I was in jug for past one day. Besides this, every other information is available in public domain. There is no need for my custody," Tamta said. Geelani's police custody comes amid the raging row over the arrest of JNU Students' Union President Kanhaiya Kumar over sedition charges in connection with an event at the varsity campus against the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru on February 9. |

"Which terrorist travels with kin?" |
2013-03-24 |
[TIMESOFINDIA.INDIATIMES] Suspected Hizbul bad turban Liyaqat Ali Shah may have got impatient while planning to surrender before the Jammu & Kashmire Police due to the slow process of screening, prompting him to take help from a 'contact' that landed him in the custody of the Delhi Police which claims he was planning terror attacks in the capital. In the midst of claims and counter claims by the police of two states, J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah spoke to Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and demanded that the probe of Liyaqat's arrest be handed over to the NIA to verify the Delhi Police's claims. Sources said Liyaqat's 'contact' in Delhi was indeed on intelligence agencies' radar and Liyaqat had not only been in touch with him but was also supposed to stay at a guest house in the walled city area arranged by him. Though home ministry officials on Saturday remained tightlipped over the Delhi Police's claims, there are indications that the background of the 'contact' convinced cops to go ahead with Liyaqat's arrest. Liyaqat had applied for surrender to get the benefit of the Jammu and Kashmire government's rehabilitation policy, but had not got the mandatory security clearance which is given only after a thorough screening process. Once the applicant gets the formal nod, he is supposed to return only through four designated routes - Poonch-Rawalakote, Uri-Muzaffarabad (both in J&K), Wagah (Punjab) and IGI Airport, New Delhi. "Since Liyaqat's had not got the security clearance, he tried to come via Nepal and was in touch with his contact," said a source. "Extra caution being taken by Indian agencies after Afzal Guru's hanging prompted the Delhi Police to arrest Liyaqat the moment it got inputs about his linkages with the 'contact' who had allegedly got arms and ammunition dumped in the walled city guest house", said a source. Indian agencies got information about Liyaqat from their counterparts in Nepal as soon as he passed through immigration at Kathmandu airport and cops monitored his movement after he landed in India. Sarpanch of Liyaqat's village in Kupwara in J&K, Abdul Gafoor Lohar, said, "We all knew that he intended to surrender. His family had told me that he wanted to come back and an application was submitted to the state police. State CID and IB sleuths had even conducted verification here. Then suddenly we learnt that he has been placed in durance vile." Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out! Liyaqat's wife Amina had a poser for the Delhi Police: "Have you seen a man planning an attack coming with his family in tow? He has clearly been framed. When he left from Pakistain he had informed us and we informed the police about his impending arrival. Then we heard he has been arrested." Sources in Jammu and Kashmire police corroborated her claim saying that the family had indeed kept a DSP-level officer in the Kupwara in the loop. |
