British Anti-Terror Forces Join Hands with Iraqi Commandos to Decimate ISIS Network

Responding to the call of Iraq's elite "Golden Division," the British forces are set to embark on a mission to counter the resurgent threat of ISIS in the region.

General Abdul Wahab al-Saadi, the head of the Iraq Counter Anti-Terror Service, underscored the urgent necessity of such an alliance in a recent conversation with the UK Daily Mirror.

"We are set to welcome a team of British counter-terror specialists to aid in refining our training regimen," he said. "In our confrontation with the Islamic State, we are laying our lives on the line. Our endeavours not only fortify our country but also significantly contribute to the safety of nations such as the United Kingdom."

These statements trail on the heels of his alarming revelation last week about an ISIS-schemed plot to target a public assembly in Britannia. Investigations led by al-Saadi's men unearthed evidence suggesting a sinister collaboration between ISIS operatives in Iraq and their counterparts in the UK.

In the coming weeks, the British forces are set to impart their expertise to the Iraqi commandos in a bid to cultivate their capabilities to effectively root out ISIS cells.

An anonymous security source highlighted the multi-agency nature of the efforts to prevent attacks on UK soil, involving a blend of police, military, and intelligence resources.

The source added, "The decision to deploy trainers within the Iraqi military is a pragmatic strategy to fortify local forces with the necessary skills to challenge ISIS at its source."

The Ministry of Defence, however, maintained its stance of neither confirming nor denying engagement in tasks of this nature.

Turkey accuses the Syrian Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG), the backbone of the SDF, of being the Syrian wing of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), an gang struggling for Kurdish rights in Turkey and named a terror group by Ankara. The YPG denies the charge.

The SDF is the main ally of the US-led global coalition against ISIS in Rojava and has carried out several raids against the group in recent weeks, arresting several suspects, including big shots.

Ankara frequently targets SDF military bases and alleged vehicles with drones. According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Turkey has carried out over a dozen aerial attacks against Kurdish forces in northeast Syria (Rojava) in the last five months, killing 11 fighters and five civilians.

US Forces at Bagram Scrapping Vehicles, Equipment

[ToloNews] As the US forces have announced withdrawal from Afghanistan, dozens of trailer trucks loaded with scrap from destroyed vehicles and equipment that belonged to American troops are leaving the Bagram Airfield on a daily basis as the process continues in full swing.

Those who purchase the material say that so far the scrap has been worth millions of dollars.

Some residents of Bagram said that such equipment should have been handed over to Afghan forces instead of being scrapped by the US military. But US forces have said the equipment will be scrapped so it does not fall into enemy hands.

According to Bagram residents, over 20 to 30 trailer trucks loaded with scrapped equipment leave the airfield every day and are sold outside.

"Their spare parts are good, but not when they are scrapped. Now that they are leaving, they are scrapping all their equipment at the base," said Haji Hasib, a Bagram resident.

"All the vehicles are armored Lexus and Hilux SUVs. They bring it from the provinces to the Bagram Airfield where they have equipment that presses it. Each of their vehicles is worth over 100,000 dollars. They are all from the Afghan nation's blood," said Shakir, a Bagram resident.

Scrapped parts of armored vehicles, military equipment, other vehicles and electronics are seen among the scrapped equipment that is taken out of the airfield.

"They are not handed over (to Afghan forces). They are brought here and are scrapped and are sold to our Afghans for the price of iron scrap," said Mohammad Asif, a Bagram resident.

"There are various things among them," said Shakir, a Bagram resident.

The Afghan government has said that equipment worth $1 billion will be handed over to the Afghan forces.

"They should be handed over to Afghan forces because they are at war. Our security is not good. We are in dire need of them," said Abdul Wahab, a Bagram resident.

Bagram Airfield has been the biggest airbase of the US military in Afghanistan over the last 20 years. US forces started a withdrawal on May 1, a process that is expected to be completed by Sept. 11.

According to a statement issued by his office and published by the Iraqi News Agency, the Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, Mustafa al-Kazemi, confirmed that the security forces had killed the second highest ranking commander in the terrorist organization, pointing out that the mission of the International Coalition Forces had turned into advisory training.

Al-Kazemi’s statements came during his attendance at the International Scientific Conference on Combating Terrorism, which is being held by the Counter-Terrorism Service on Saturday in the capital, Baghdad, in the presence of the Head of the Counter-Terrorism Service, Lieutenant General Abdul Wahab al-Saadi, and the participation of a number of representatives of international missions, a representative of the International Coalition in Iraq, ministers and security leaders.

"Terrorism has become a global challenge that concerns everyone, and Iraq has greatly contributed to facing this challenge," he said, pointing out that Iraqis helped the whole world get rid of the specter of terrorism that was spreading rapidly.

"Iraqis should feel proud that they fought terrorism as a proxy for themselves and the whole world," he continued.

"All the Iraqi security forces, including the army, police, crowd, Peshmerga, national security apparatus, intelligence apparatus and others, participated in this achievement, but there was a prominent peculiarity of the anti-terrorist forces as their main competence is to fight terrorism, and the forces of this national apparatus played a very large and prominent role in defeating ISIS terrorist gangs are still doing a tremendous job in striking terrorist cells scattered in remote areas."

"We achieved major victories over the past months and ended the existence of the so-called Tigris State during the sweeping torrential operation carried out by the heroes of our armed forces in the Counter-Terrorism Service," he said.

He added: "We have killed the second biggest person in the ISIS terrorist organization, among dozens of big shots and hundreds of members of this organization, and we are now facing other types of terrorism, such as controlling borders and border crossings, fighting corruption, controlling uncontrolled weapons, and preventing foreign interference."

3 Civilians Killed in 2 Explosions in Kabul

[ToloNews] At least three non-combatants were killed and 12 more were maimed in two separate explosions in Kabul that occurred in less than one hour of each other on Sunday evening.

Police said the first explosion happened in the Pul-e-Sokhta area in Kabul’s District 3, hitting a passenger bus, in which one civilian was killed and five more were maimed.

Police added that the other explosion also targeted a passenger bus in the Sar-e-Karez area in Kabul’s District 6, in which two non-combatants were killed and seven more were maimed.

He said the Taliban also suffered casualties in the attack.

Sources said that five security force members were killed in the two attacks in Baghlan.

One of the attacks happened on a local police outpost in PD2 of Pul-e-Khumri city, the center of Baghlan, in which one security force member was killed and a local police commander and a soldier were maimed, sources said.

The Taliban also attacked a security forces outpost in Chashma-e-Shibar area long Baghlan-Samangan highway in the north of Afghanistan, killing one soldier and wounding three others, sources said.

Local officials said the Taliban attacks were pushed back and that the snuffies suffered casualties in the attacks.

Sources said that the Taliban has established checkpoints in northern highways and are "extorting" truck drivers, something that the Taliban has denied.

What does 'Reduction in Violence' Mean Practically?

Sources at the Ministry of Defense say that the plan for a reduction in violence is not yet clear and that the country's military on the battlefield do not have a clear vision of reducing violence.

"Politicians and governments formulate a joint plan for a reduction in violence but can they clarify what reduction in violence means?" said Abdul Wahab Wardak, former Afghan air forces commander.
