For First Time In 20 Years, US Senate Candidate Wins More Votes Than Presidential Candidate In Texas
2020-11-08
[DFW.CBSLOCAL] When U.S. Senator John Cornyn won his fourth term this week, he not only defeated Democratic challenger MJ Hegar by ten percentage points, he also won more votes in Texas than President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
.Senator Cornyn has 5,931,602 votes so far, which is 71,506 votes more than President Trump, who has 5,860,096 votes.

The President defeated Democrat Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...Candidate for president in 2020. I had the great honor of being arrested with our UN Ambassador on the streets of Soweto, trying to get to see him on Robbens Island...
by 648,690 votes or six percentage points, 52%-46%, while Cornyn defeated Hegar by ten percentage points, 54%-44%.

That’s a change from what we have seen in most previous elections in Texas, when the Republican Presidential candidate won more votes than anyone else in the state.

The last Presidential candidate in Texas who didn’t win the most votes in the state was George W. Bush, then Texas Governor, in 2000.

At the time, Republican U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison won 282,452 more votes than Mr. Bush.

He had 3,799,639 votes compared to her 4,082,091 votes.

That year, Bush defeated former Vice President Al Gore
...Former Vice President, Nobel Prize winner, Global Warming prophet and speculator, and crazed sex poodle Al Gore...
in Texas 59%-38%.

Hutchison beat Democrat Gene Kelly 65%-32%.

As for Senator Cornyn, he not only won more votes than President Trump statewide, but in each of the big four counties in North Texas: Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton counties.

When asked if Republicans didn’t vote for the President or if they voted for Biden and if Democrats voted for Cornyn, Tarrant County GOP Chair Rick Barnes said it’s most likely a combination.

Tarrant County Democratic Party
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
Chair Deborah Peoples disagreed. "Well, no, I think it’s really Republicans voting for Vice President Biden and then coming back to Senator Cornyn. I think if you noticed, Senator Cornyn changed his campaign style a whole lot during the campaign."

Barnes said the President’s personality may have had something to do with the results. "We do know that there are some people that it became a personality issue more so than a policy issue. And unfortunately, people that vote on personalities are going to quickly realize that was a bad way to vote."

Amy Coney Barrett: Judges Can't 'Walk in Like a Royal Queen' and Impose Their Will on the World
2020-10-14
[BREITBART] Judge Amy Coney Barrett addressed the widespread misinformation that judges can brazenly make rulings based on the whims of the day, explaining the process and stressing judges cannot just "walk in like a royal queen" and "impose" their will on the world.Chairman Lindsey Graham
...soft-spoken senator from South Carolina, former best buddy of John Maverick McCain. Since McCain's demise, Graham has become more outspoken, more Republican and more of a supporter of President Trump. The speech he gave in support of Brett Kavanaugh was downright manly and really cheesed off the Dems...
(R-SC) prompted Barrett to explain how the process works, using the District of Columbia v. Heller as an example. Barrett briefly explained there has to be a law, lawsuit, appeal, and the court granting cert before it makes a ruling.

When asked if the process remains the same no matter the issue — including guns, health care, child sacrifice abortion, campaign finance — Barrett emphasized judges cannot just impose an agenda at random.

"Judges can’t just wake up one day and say, ’I have an agenda. I like guns. I hate guns. I like child sacrifice abortion. I hate child sacrifice abortion’ and walk in like a royal queen and impose, you know, their will on the world," she said.

"You have to wait for cases and controversies, which is the language of the Constitution, to wind their way through the process," she continued.

Graham then asked Barrett another hypothetical. What if, he said, a state made a law only allowing individuals to own no more than six bullets.

In that case, Barrett said, parties would have to sue the state arguing that the law is unconstitutional. If it made its way to the Supreme Court and it decided to hear the case, "you hear arguments from litigants on both sides."

"They write briefs. You talk to clerks as a judge. You talk to your colleagues, and you write an opinion. Opinions circulate and you get feedback from your colleagues so it’s an entire process," she explained.

"It’s not something that a judge or justice would wake up and say, ’Oh we’re hearing this case. I know what my vote’s going to be,'" she added.

Senator Asks ACB Which 'Notes' She's Been Referring To; She Holds Up BLANK Piece Of Paper

[TRENDINGPOLITICS] Amy Coney Barrett has displayed an immense scope of knowledge during the first two days of her confirmation hearings, and apparently she hasn't needed notes to recall any of it.

Senator Cornyn asked her which set of notes she's been referring to in order to answer these questions, her response was priceless.

"Most of us have multiple note books, notes and books and things like that in front of us. Can you hold up what you've been referring to when answering our questions?" Cornyn asked.

Barrett responded bey holding up a blank notepad, drawing laughs from the crowd.

"Is there anything on it?" Cornyn responded.

"Um...the letterhead that says United States Senate," Barrett responded with a smile.

"That's impressive", Cornyn said.

Cornyn vows hundreds of amendments to Obamacare
2010-03-22
[Iran Press TV Latest] Republicans in the US Senate say they will challenge President Barack Obama's health overhaul plan by introducing hundreds of amendments to the bill when it arrives in the Senate.

Appearing on Fox News on Sunday, Republican Senator John Cornyn of Texas illustrated the GOP tactics against the legislation, saying that the goal was "to highlight what is in the bill that is bad and why the American people are right when they say we don't want it."

Senator Cornyn went on to warn that there were "probably more on the order of hundreds of amendments" to challenge the sprawling USD 940 billion bill, AFP reported.

He said by disputing the specific provisions of the bill, the Republicans would try to demonstrate that the legislation does not reduce the deficit.

The Senate's presiding officer, Vice President Joe Biden, could at some point declare the amendments to be delaying tactics and call a vote on the bill.

"That could happen," said Cornyn. "But I guarantee it will happen on television, on C-Span and on Fox News and for 300 million people to see and I think there will be a terrible price to be paid for this sort of defying public opinion."

Democrats earlier predicted that the bill will pass the House to make history as they have garnered 216 necessary votes.

From today's email: "Allies Statement in Support of MoveOn.org"
2007-09-22
For Immediate Release
Date: September 21, 2007
Allies Statement in Support of MoveOn.org

The resolution condemning MoveOn.org yesterday sponsored by Senate Republicans was nothing more than a distraction from the real issue at hand: their unpopular support for a failed war in Iraq that is dragging on without end. Regardless of one’s position on the ad in question, Senator Cornyn’s resolution and the Republican assault on MoveOn.org represented a frightening attack on free speech and an outrageous attempt to intimidate an organization, its allies and the popular movement in America they have helped lead to end the war in Iraq. Rather than intimidating MoveOn.org or the coalition which is working to bring a responsible end to the war in Iraq, we are confident that such attempts to stifle debate will only further energize the progressive movement and the effort to end the war.
