Kenya to deport terror convict to Britain

The decision to release him and subsequent deportation to Britannia could raise questions about the safety of the European nation, which has been keen on fighting terror. It is not clear if Kenya has contacted London ahead of the execution of the plan.

A team of counter-terrorism officers from Scotland Yard flew to Kenya to assist in his prosecution. Met Detective Inspector John Reilly told Grant’s trial in 2014: ’We know that the chemicals found at Grant’s house were designed to make a bomb. We believe the gang was at the end of its preparations.’

Grant was convicted of possession of bomb-making materials but was acquitted in 2019 of ’conspiracy to commit a felony’ in relation to the terror plot. Now he faces a court in Kenya on Wednesday to decide whether he should be deported.

Prosecutor Bernard Ngiri has filed an application to kick him out of the country as an ’unwanted immigrant’ after he was released from prison on June 24. The High Court will determine his deportation and it is highly likely that the application will be granted.

Kenya is fighting terror groups mainly the al-Shabaab who have encroached on the country from neighboring Somalia. The group has heightened attacks in the Northern Frontier Districts and Lamu, leading to the delay in reopening the Kenya-Somalia border.

Police sources said she fled from a 'no-go' zone in Somalia where they have been hiding and is believed to have crossed over to Yemen. She is now believed to reside in a jihadi-sympathising stronghold in neighbouring Yemen, where she wears a full niqab and gloves to conceal her identity.

One security source told the Mirror: '[Lewthwaite] and Sheikh Hassan are no longer together — it is thought they are divorced. She had protection from his family in a no-go area in Somalia. 'But now she is not welcome and has gone back to al-Qaeda-controlled Yemen. She got there in a dhow sailing vessel.

But despite this latest development, there are no intelligence reports which are exclusively reporting about her whereabouts. Yemen has been in turmoil for several years and there is a possibility that she crossed over unnoticed.

Lewthwaite, originally of Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, was the wife of 7/7 bomber Germaine Lindsay and is thought to be behind scores of suicide kabooms across Africa and the Middle East.

Interpol issued a Red Notice warrant for her arrest after she was linked to the 2013 Westgate Mall attack in Kenya, which left five Britons and 66 other people dead and injured around 200 others.

London University graduate Lewthwaite reportedly altered her appearance through plastic surgery and piled on weight in a bid to remain unrecognised. She has pledged to raise all of her four children, who have three different fathers, as jihadists.

UK’s notorious female terrorist ‘plotting new attack in London’

[PRESSTV] Intelligence sources have revealed that Britannia’s most wanted female terrorist is plotting a major attack in the capital London.

Security sources told the Daily Mirror newspaper that Samantha Lewthwaite, better known as the White Widow, is now plotting an attack in London from her base in the war-torn Yemen.

Lewthwaite, a 35-year-old mother of four, is the widow of Germaine Lindsay, the British-Jamaican terrorist who carried out one of the deadly kabooms in London on July 7, 2005.

British intelligence services believe Lewthwaite, who fled Britannia to join murderous Moslems in the Horn of Africa region, has had plastic surgery and has put on weight to dodge and international police hunt.

Sources have revealed that she was recently in Dubai to prepare a string of new attacks, including one in London.

It was revealed by MailOnline that Khalid Mohammed Omar Ali was an aid worker who had travelled in a relief convoy to Gazoo.

But now it has emerged that jihadi Thomas Evans was also in the group who travelled there from London with the charity Road to Hope in 2010, according to reports.

Evans was shot in Kenya while fighting for the African terrorist group al-Shabaab in 2015.

Whitehall terror suspect Khalid Mohammed Omar Ali, pictured left, was on the same trip to Gazoo in 2010 as jihadi Thomas Evans, pictured right, according to reports.

He had been linked to the world’s most wanted woman ‐ ’White Widow’ Samantha Lewthwaite ‐ over an attack that left 50 innocent villagers dead in the Kenyan countryside in June 2014.

His mother told The Sunday Telegraph that she believes her son was radicalised on the aid trip which saw the pair stuck in Libya.

Sally Evans ‐ who reported her son to the authorities following the journey to Gazoo ‐ said: ’After he returned from that trip he began interpreting Islam more strongly. He was upset about he had seen there.

’He was already a Moslem but he became more radicalised on his return. I do feel that was the case.

’It needs to be investigated. I’m shocked they were both on the same trip.’

As we already knew, she lived in South Africa between 2009 and 2011 under a stolen South African identity. She is still believed to be working for al-Shabaab.

Although the reports don't mention this, intelligence agencies suspected at the time that al-Shabaab intended to carry out an attack against the US embassy in South Africa in 2009. All embassy buildings were shut for several days.

The plans for an attack had apparently been intercepted in calls between an al-Shabaab operative in Somalia and Somalis in South Africa. So it seems that the al-Qaeda/al-Shabaab operatives are at least ready to target Jewish and US interests in South Africa. This illustrates the problem with the thesis that South Africa will be spared because it is not considered politically hostile -- or not as much as others.

White Widow alive, living with al-Qaeda husband in Somalia

White widow Samantha Lewthwaite is 'alive and well' and living in southern Somalia with her jihadist husband, a wanted al-Qaeda suspect who calls himself Marco Costa, Kenyan sources said today.

In a forged Mozambican passport obtained by MailOnline his picture clearly identifies him as Fahmi Jamal Salim who has been on the run from Kenyan police since he shot and killed two police officers in Nairobi in 2011.

Lewthwaite and Salim also appear in a 'selfie' taken at their home. Police are using these and pictures of their two children in a countrywide manhunt for the couple.

Counter-terrorism sources in Kenya revealed their updated profile of Lewthwaite in response to claims from a Moscow news agency earlier this week that she had been killed by sniper fire while fighting with a Ukrainian volunteer battalion against pro-Russian rebels.

By marrying Salim Samantha Lewthwaite has joined a family steeped in Muslim extremism and the jihad. Salim's brother-in-law was notorious al-Qaeda recruiting officer Musa Dheere, shot dead at a roadblock in Mogadishu in 2011 alongside Fazul Mohamed, a terror suspect with a $5m bounty on his head. Dheere was wanted for the bombing of American embassies in Nairobi and Dar-es-Salaam in 1998 when several hundred were killed.

Kenya police looking into possible sighting of 'white widow'

Kenyan police were last night investigating claims that a white woman seen trying to cross into Somalia could have been Samantha Lewthwaite, the widow of a July 7 bomber and now the world's most wanted woman.

A foreign woman reportedly paid for two Kenyan policemen to escort her in a rented four-wheel-drive from the island resort of Lamu to the border, where she attempted to pass through Kenyan immigration and into Somalia.

Police sources denied that the woman matched any description of Lewthwaite, on the run since 2011 when she fled Kenya after police uncovered a terror cell she allegedly ran in the coastal city of Mombasa.

"The documents she used to try to cross the border do not match Samantha," Leonard Omollo, the Lamu county police commander told Kenyan media.

Anti-terror police sources in Nairobi, the capital, said that there was no indication that the white woman spotted in the vicinity of the border in April was Lewthwaite.

"She is long-gone, in Somalia, perhaps, or Tanzania, we don't know, but we do know that even she would not be stupid enough to return to Kenya then hire police officers to try to help her escape again into Somalia," one said.

There was no explanation, however, of who the woman could have been. She was reported to have claimed to work for an aid agency, but almost all international charities have declared the area off limits. She was said to have "vanished" after border guards and immigration officials refused her entry into Somalia.

She had said she had a package that she needed to deliver to Kenyan troops stationed in southern Somalia as part of international armies battling al-Shabaab.

Hundreds of British tourists were evacuated from Kenya last night as the capital Nairobi was rocked by bombings.

Holidaymakers had their trips cut short after the Foreign Office warned against travelling to beach resorts along the coast.

Travel firms chartered planes to bring people home early from Nairobi, the Indian Ocean resort of Mombasa and other parts of the country.

Yesterday, as anxious travellers arrived at Kenyan airports to check in for their flights to Britannia, two bombs went off in Nairobi, leaving at least 13 dead and 70 injured.

Bomb attacks: Kenya deputy president blames judges

[Washington Post] Faced with rising public anger over a wave terror attacks, Kenya's deputy president appeared on Monday to blame the attacks on judges who have given bail to terror suspects.

William Ruto said that terror suspects Jamal Mohammed Awadh and Suleiman Mohammed Sayyed were free on bail and died Saturday while carrying out attacks on the Kenyan coast.

However,

the families of the two men deny the two were involved or had been charged earlier.

Ruto claimed 22 other suspects accused of terrorism are out on bail and roaming freely in the country. He also cited the case of Fuad Abubakar Maswab, who is believed to have fled to Somalia while out on $116,000 bail.

Fuad, along with two British citizens, is accused of planning attacks over Christmas and New Year's in 2011. One British suspect, Jermaine Grant, who has been remanded while his case is being heard, was found with explosives, Ruto said. The other British suspect, Samantha Lewthwaite, is still on the lam.

"We call on the judiciary to be a strong partner in the war against terror. We call on all players in the justice, law and order sector to stand with Kenyans. The Constitution provides a robust framework of civil liberties, which all Kenyans are meant to enjoy. The liberties must work for Kenyans, not against Kenyans," he said.

"We believe that there is more that the judiciary can do," Ruto said.

The families of Awadh and Sayyed held a presser Monday in the coastal city of Mombasa where they said they were victims of Saturday's blast at a bus stop.
