Islamic State behind recent attacks on clerics, minorities in Peshawar: CTD
2023-07-12
[Dawn] The counter-terrorism department has claimed that the bad boy group Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(aka ISIS) is behind the recent assassinations against religious scholars and members of minority groups in the thriving provincial capital.

"The CTD has arrested ISIS affiliate Aminullah and killed another, Zafar, following their encounter with the special patrolling squad, Ababeel Force, in the thriving provincial capital," Additional Inspector General Shaukat Abbas told news hounds here.

He said on June 25, a gunman killed member of the Christian community Mushtaq and fled but he was intercepted by the Ababeel Force on the Ring Road near Garhi Qamardin area.

"As soon as the gunman saw the force, he shot up it injuring three personnel. The force retaliated and killed him," he said.

The official also said the police seized a pistol, a cycle of violence, two SIM cards, a BRT card and an Afghan citizen card carrying the name of Khalid Khan son of Musafir.

Official reveals 15-20 gunnies identified, dept closing in on them

Initial investigation identified the gunman as Zafar, an Afghan national living in the Rasheed Garhi area of the thriving provincial capital. Further investigation, especially leads from Zafar’s mobile phone, helped the CTD arrest Zafar’s father-in-law, Ameenullah, according to senior police officials.

They said that the two gunnies belonged to a network comprising Afghan nationals, who were imprisoned in Pul-e-Charkhi area of Afghanistan.

The officials said around 60 network members, who beat feet from the prison after the Islamic Emirates formed the government in Afghanistan, reportedly entered Pakistain.

They, however, said it was unknown how many of those gunnies were active.

AIG Shaukat Abbas said that assassinations against religious scholars and members of religious minorities began in March.

He said it was a challenging task to "trace the bad boy network and identify its members."

The official said nine people had been targeted since March and they included Sikhs, Christians, and Moslem scholars.

"Scientific methods were adopted, while a pattern was followed connecting the dots. The forensic evidence showed that just one pistol was used in all these attacks," he said.

Mr Abbas said the group comprising 15-20 gunnies had been identified, while the department was close in on it and would bust it soon.

"This is like cleaning your home every day that gets dirty the next day," he said.

The official said a small number of people reported extortion demands to the police.

He said a businessman, who recently came under attack in Hayatabad, had lodged a case with the police after receiving an extortion call on May 1.

Mr Abbas said the case helped Sherlocks trace those behind extortion calls.

He added that multiple calls of that nature were reported in Darra Adamkhel, Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Reportedly, the attack took place around 6:00 mp, but official sources have not yet confirmed the incident and the casualties left from Thursday night’s attack.

The incident took place a day after Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the Afghanistan National Resistance® Front (NRF) claimed to have carried out an operation on the educational center and outpost of the Taliban

special unit in the Pul-e-Charkhi area of Kabul city.

On Wednesday, NRF announced the beginning of the group’s "guerrilla attacks", which was welcomed by Afghanistan Freedom Front, and called for cooperation to carry out joint attacks against the Taliban security forces.

The Taliban have not yet reacted to NRF’s spring attacks, however, Qari Fasihuddin Fitrat, Taliban’s Chief of Staff in an interview with Afghan state TV said there will be no armed resistance by the former military and exiled Afghan leaders against the Taliban.

Taliban Chief of Staff described the exiled Afghan leaders’ claims as "boastful" and threatened them with military repression.

Since the return of the Taliban to power, security remains a major challenge for the ruling regime. It is reported that the Islamic State

Khorasan (IS-K) murderous Moslems have intensified their attacks in Kabul, Mazar-e-Sharif, and other parts of Afghanistan.

IS-K holy warriors have been behind a series of brutal terrorist attacks over the past couple of months including the attack on the Russian Embassy, the Pak Diplomatic Mission, a Chinese-run Hotel and educational institutions in the heart of Kabul, which resulted in the death and injury of scores of innocent civilians.

Officials: Over 12,000 Imprisoned Across Country
2023-02-08
[ToloNews] Officials of the Directorate of Prisons Affairs said Tuesday that more than twelve thousand people are imprisoned across the country. Prob can't count'em here.
Attending a ceremony to introduce the new uniform for military personnel, officials said that that there are 2000 to 2,500 prisoners in Pole-e-Charkhi prison.

They were arrested and imprisoned for various crimes, said officials.

"In all prisons, there is no place for torture, and you will not find even a case that a prisoner is being tortured, said Mohammad Yusuf Mistari, the director of the prison's affairs at the ceremony.
Unless they're pedos, or Patriots.
"We have also provided vocational training for the prisoners, schools and madrasas have been provided and their trainings continue now," said Habibullah Bader, the military deputy of the directorate of prisons affairs.
There is a recent tradition worldwide of converting imprisoned criminals to Islam.
Yep, here too. Natural proclivity I guess.
Why not in Afghanistan?
Meanwhile,
...back at the game, the Babe headed for second base. He almost made it. Then Sheila slapped him....
Khalil Rajman Haqqani, the acting minister of refugees and repatriation, who attended the ceremony, urged officials to treat prisoners well and pay attention to their education.

"Treat the prisoners well, train them and teach them Islamic faith and religious issues," said Khalil Rahman Haqani.

"This time, uniforms are distributed to us, and in this way, military and common people will be recognized, said Zakarya, a military guard of the Pul-e-Charkhi prison.

The directorate of prisons affairs further said that at least 60 people have been arrested on charges of taking drugs into the prisons and were introduced to legal offices.

[ToloNews] More than ten women suspected of being involved in drug dealing in several parts of Kabul, have been arrested, the Kabul Security Department said.

According to the Security Department, these women were arrested after the start of 1401 (solar year).

"They have been brought here on charges of drug dealing and are from various districts," said Mawlawi Sayed Fazullulah Abu-Obaida, head of the detention center of Kabul.

TOLOnews reached out to interview some of the these females in the detention center in Kabul.

"The police came to our home in the morning. They took a full bag of Tablets-K and other things," said detainee.

"They seized 15 dozen tablets and the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
came and took the tablets and took us to the police department and after an inquiry brought us here," said a detainee, who is 50 years old and also the mother of seven children.

Deputy minister of the Interior for Counter-Narcotics, Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar, said that more than 3,000 people who were involved in drug dealing have been arrested and referred to the court. According to Hamkar, some of these women have been taken to Pul-e-Charkhi prison.

"There have been around 3,005 raids, and 3,641 suspects were arrested and handed over to the court," he said.

Several reports of the UN have so far expressed concerns over the cultivation of opium in Afghanistan.

But the deputy minister of Interior of Counter-Narcotics has repeatedly denied the UN’s reports, saying that production of drugs has been halted since the Islamic Emirate’s supreme leader, Mawllawi Hibatullah Akhundzada, issued a nationwide ban of cultivation.

[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • RUMORS ABOUT FURTHER GENDER BANS FOR WOMEN AT UNIVERSITIES – A document provided to an NGO source in Europe, purporting to be the minutes of a recent cabinet meeting chaired by Sheikh Hibatullah, describes a discussion about prohibiting women from attending University in the future. The ban would affect both public and private institutions. Several of the cabinet officials present for the meeting pushed back hard against the idea. We have not yet verified the authenticity of the document and we do not have confirmation if it was adopted for implementation. However, the rumors are circulating on social media, and felt it was important to include them in the Daily Evacuation Brief.

Taliban Foreign Minister Says 1,800 ISIS Prisoners Were Released From Prisons When Kabul Fell
2022-07-29
[KhaamaPress] When the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
took control of Kabul, the Afghan capital, 1,800 ISIS bandidos faceless myrmidons were released from Bagram and Pul-e-Charkhi prisons, according to Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting Foreign Minister of the Taliban, who made the statement at the Tashkent international conference in the capital of Uzbekistan.

Foreign Minister Muttaqi conceded the release of ISIS prisoners during his speech at the Tashkent conference on Tuesday, July 26. However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
he claimed that during the previous 11 months of Taliban administration, the group had grown strong enough to subdue ISIS fighters.

He asserted that when the ISIS members were besieged by the Taliban in Jawzjan province in northern Afghanistan, the previous administration flew them to Kabul. He further claimed that for the previous 11 months, the same ISIS had been causing unrest in Afghanistan.

Previously, American officials even said the Taliban’s release of bad boy Islamist ISIS prisoners from the prisons of Pul-e-Charkhi and Bagram had strengthened the group.

After taking control of every province last year, the Taliban pardoned all the prisoners with all the detention centers and prisons in Afghanistan were emptied when this group took Kabul.

Even though the Taliban have underlined time and time again that ISIS does not physically exist in Afghanistan and does not pose a threat, since the Taliban’s gaining control, ISIS has grabbed credit for deadly attacks on mosques, schools, and cars.

Kabul Rejects Gen. McKenzie's Remarks on Daesh
2022-03-21
[TOLO] "Dude. We told you! They're all gone. Like to Pakistain or someplace. K?"
General Kenneth McKenzie, the commander of the US Central Command, talking to reporters on Friday raised concerns regarding Daesh’s presence and activity in Afghanistan.

He said Daesh has a few thousand fighters in Afghanistan, and they have carried out some high-profile attacks in the past several months since the collapse of the former government.

"So we assess probably a couple thousand, more or less, ISIS fighters in Afghanistan. Of course, when the Taliban opened Pul-e-Charkhi and Parwan prisons and infused new talent and new energy into ISIS -- and so they're now reaping the result of that very shortsighted decision," he said.

McKenzie said if the pressures on Daesh are gone, the group will regenerate in the country. "But absent effective pressure, it's going to be -- we would expect that ISIS will continue to regenerate in the ungoverned spaces, principally in eastern Afghanistan but not exclusively there, and we're going to see them on down the road," he added.

The Islamic Emirate, rejecting McKenzie's remarks, said Daesh hideouts have been discovered and destroyed in the country. Bilal Karimi, deputy spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, said such remarks are baseless.

"These claims are baseless and there is no evidence. Daesh’s activities in Afghanistan have been shut down and no one will be allowed to create insecurity," Karimi said.

This is not the first time that McKenzie has made such remarks. On Wednesday he said that the Islamic Emirate is committed to fighting Daesh but has found it difficult.

"Daesh exists in Afghanistan and with its attacks on Shia mosques and schools it wants to attack the government," said Tariq Farhadi, a political analyst.

"The Americans again have plans to have an intelligence presence in Afghanistan and so they make such excuses, while Daesh does not exist," said General Samar, a former military officer.

Previously the UN said in a report that Daesh’s fighters have increased from 2,000 to 4,000 since the opening of prisons in the country. The Islamic Emirate, however, has repeatedly rejected such figures and reports about Daesh.

Prison doctors among five killed in Kabul, AFG bombing
2020-12-22
[France24] Four doctors who worked at an Afghan prison with hundreds of Taliban inmates were among five people killed Tuesday when a bomb attached to their car exploded, police said.

The blast happened in a southern district of the city when the doctors were travelling to the Pul-e-Charkhi prison where they worked, Kabul police spokesman Ferdaws Faramarz said.
"NO SOUP Medical Care for YOU!"
Four doctors and a passer-by were killed when a "magnetic bomb" attached to the car detonated, Faramarz said, adding that another two people were wounded.

Hundreds of Taliban fighters and other criminals are incarcerated at Pul-e-Charkhi, located on the eastern outskirts of Kabul.

The city has been hit by a wave of deadly violence in recent months despite the Taliban and the government engaging in peace talks.

Targeted killings of prominent figures, including journalists, politicians and rights activists have also become more common recently in Kabul and other provinces.

The jihadist Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for some of the recent attacks in Kabul, that killed dozens of people.

Tuesday's attack came just two days after a car bomb targeting a lawmaker killed 10 people and wounded more than 50 in Kabul.

Lawmaker Khan Mohammad Wardak was wounded in the blast.

Days before that incident, a deputy governor of Kabul province, Mahbobullah Mohebi was killed in a similar attack.

And on Monday, an Afghan journalist was shot dead by gunmen in the eastern city of Ghazni in what appeared to be a yet another targeted killing.

Rahmatullah Nekzad had contributed to the Associated Press news agency since 2007 and had also previously worked with the Al-Jazeera broadcast network.

2020-12-11
[ToloNews] Amid a wave of assassinations in the Afghan capital Kabul, an officer from the 111th Capital Division of the Afghan National Army (ANA) was bumped off on Wednesday near his base in Pul-e-Charkhi area which is located east of Kabul.

The officer was on his way home from the mosque.

Also on Wednesday, unknown gunnies shot and killed a retired colonel in PD5 of Kabul.

Statistics show that at least 8 people have been killed in targeted acts of violence in the capital over the past ten days.

According to the Ministry of Interior, 22 military officers have been killed in the country in targeted acts of killing over the past one month. Of the figure, 8 incidents have occurred in Kabul in the past ten days.

"They were standing here when the mullah reached here, they fired at him three times," said Neknam Gul, a resident in the area.

"The situation is critical, poor people are martyred each day," said Rahmatullah Hamza, a resident in the area.

On Wednesday, retired colonel Toofan Tarakai and Hanifullah Khaksar, the former guard for the Badghis police, were killed by unknown gunnies in Kabul.

"There is no security," said Ahmad Sahil Noori, a resident in Kabul.

"The security situation gets worse each day; they kill the people in front of the cop shoppe," said Mohammad Aqa, a resident of Kabul.

This comes two months after the First Vice President Amrullah Saleh announced he is taking responsibility for the security of Kabul for the near future. But residents in the capital city have said that fatal attacks continue.

Gov’t Arrests Hitmen over Ex-Colonel Assassination

[KhaamaPress] Amrullah Saleh, the first vice president, said during the 6 a.m. meeting that the convicted killer of Colonel Abdul Wali Toofan
...there was a deputy police chief of Logar by that name...
had been arrested by the local police.

Saleh indicated, two perpetrators were involved in Wali’s liquidation: one a shooter and the other was a person filming the atrocity.

Among the offenders, the person who was filming the murder being happening was caught and different types of similar files were obtained from his cell phone, Saleh added.

Regarding the group’s targeted liquidations, Saleh said, "With these liquidations, the Taliban
...mindless ferocity in a turban...
wants to make access to information deceivable and want to turn dark the life to the public, they have failed to this day and will continue to fail".
