Ranger "Tanto" Paronto raises some questions |
2017-06-10 |
[American Thinker] In a recently published book, The Ranger Way, Kris "Tanto" Paronto provides readers with extensive insight into what was going through his mind as he fought for his life and the lives of those around him on September 11th, 2012, and also breaks down those experiences into the lessons learned. Paronto’s résumé is very impressive. A former Army Ranger from 2nd Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment and a private security contractor he has been deployed throughout South America, Central America, the Middle East, and North Africa. Many might know him as a member of the CIA Annex Security Team that responded to the terrorist attack in Benghazi. Previously, he worked with the U.S. Government's Global Response Staff, the U.S. State Department High Threat Protection Program, and the Blackwater Security Consulting firm in high-threat environments around the world. He looks at the intelligence leaks today, where the British have said they will no longer share intelligence information with the U.S. and the Israelis blames the American media for outing them as a source, and wonders why nothing was ever linked about Benghazi, about which questions still remain: what did President Obama and Hillary Clinton know and when, who gave the stand-down order, and why weren’t the readily available military units deployed? Kris told American Thinker, "I really thought someone within the Agency would step up and tell the truth. This is when I saw the dirty side of government, seeing a cover-up of lies that included President Obama, Hillary Clinton, Patrick Kennedy, and Charlene Lamb. They along with the CIA acting director, Mike Morell, were entrenched within the political machine. It was disheartening and very disappointing. But to emphasize, it was not the guys and gals on the ground." The book describes an important tool to thrive, take responsibility. This mentality should be relatable for any person, unless your name is Hillary Clinton. Kris describes her as "arrogant. I want to be a thorn in her side. She sees herself as above the law. Yet, she leaked classified information, used open servers, and left people to die in Benghazi. She can rationalize away anything and puts herself before anyone else. I believe 90% of the national security people truly believe she would have made a terrible president." Kris also blames the national media. A quote from the book emphasizes how they spin the facts to favor the Obama administration, "If you want to take CNN’s word over a Marine’s, go right ahead. I’ll take the Marine’s word one hundred percent of the time." This was in response to a question asked about the stand-down order given by "Bob," the CIA Benghazi Chief. Another life lesson: do not be afraid to ask a question. Kris believes good leaders "would be happy with questions. ’Bob’ should have realized he was out of his element and asked questions of us, the experts. He pretended he knew what he was doing and it cost lives. I truly believe if we were sent out almost initially those at the compound would still be alive, instead of telling us we could not leave." At no time did he ever think of giving up and not speaking out. This is why he continues to want to reform a broken system. "It needs to be purged. The intelligence community should be about fighting terrorism, not leaking to support some agenda. They utilize the left-wing media outlets by putting out fake news. They leak stuff illegally to news agencies because they dislike the current administration. They are too heavily involved in politics instead of just doing their job." He realizes he is fighting a new battle. An important principle: have a battle strategy that strives to reach a goal by defining the mission’s importance. "We have a new combat area where we must speak out against politicians, TV, and news media personalities. Those of us in Benghazi were part of the Special Ops community and needed to be creative thinkers. We went through a process of anger, where we watched everything spin out of control, to realizing we must develop a strategy to fix and counter the false narrative. We are done just sitting on the sidelines. Military personnel have integrity, honor, and are patriotic. Maybe the national security agencies should recruit from the military because our love for country is stronger than our political views." An important lesson Kris wants to convey is, "Commit to owning errors when you make them, learning from your mistakes, and acting with integrity. These upper-echelon national security officials cannot admit when they are wrong. Maybe, they are taught it in a class on the Farm. They should have the strength to say a mistake was made here. For example, I do not think it was a coincidence that David Petraeus stepped down as CIA Director after an IT complaint was filed. People should know that on September 12th in Tripoli all the contractors were flown out to Germany leaving only the CIA staffers. No one wanted us talking to him. He was given the wrong story, which is when one CIA staffer had the courage to file the IT report. I now know it was all corruption." In reading this book, Americans will learn that Kris is definitely not a politically correct kind of guy. He persevered through the Benghazi tragedy and wants others to learn how they can succeed through life. Having integrity, courage, and faith in G-d has allowed him to overcome life’s hardships and he hopes his own life lessons can be helpful to others. |

When President Obama's National Security Advisor Lied, The Media Laughed |
2017-02-18 |
[TheFederalist] Buried deep beneath the Michael Flynn hysteria this week was Judicial Watch’s release of newly obtained State Department documents related to the Benghazi terrorist attack on September 11, 2012. One email confirms--again--that the Obama administration knew the day after the attack it was not a random act of violence stemming from an anti-Muslim video. That was the excuse shamefully propagated by top Obama administration officials (including the president himself) and swallowed whole by a media establishment desperate to help Obama win re-election six weeks later.![]() According to the summary of a call on September 12, 2012 between State Department Under-Secretary Patrick Kennedy and several congressional staffers, Kennedy was asked if the attack came under cover of protest: "No this was a direct breaching attack," he answered. Kennedy also denied the attack was coordinated with the protests in Cairo over the video: "Attack in Cairo was a demonstration. There were no weapons shown or used. A few cans of spray paint." It’s somewhat ironic--galling?--that this email was disclosed the same day the anti-Trump universe was spinning into the stratosphere over Flynn’s resignation as President Trump’s national security advisor. It begs for a little trip down memory lane, to a kinder, gentler time when the media gave a great big pass to another national security advisor in the days after four Americans, including an ambassador, were murdered in Libya by Islamic terrorists under her watch. Lying to Us Only Matters If We Dislike You Fun fact: While Trump press secretary Sean Spicer fielded 55 questions on February 14 related to the Flynn debacle, Obama’s press secretary Jay Carney received only 13 questions from reporters on September 12, 2012, three of which were set-ups to blast Mitt Romney’s criticism of the administration after the attack. 55 to 13. Continues. |

New FOIA release: Obama admin knew immediately Benghazi was "direct breaching" terror attack, not "under cover of protest" |
2017-02-17 |
![]() Judicial Watch today released 54 pages of new State Department documents, including a transcript of a September 12 2012, telephone conference call with congressional staffers in which then-Under Secretary of State for Management Patrick Kennedy admitted that the deadly terrorist assault on the Benghazi Consulate was not "under cover of protest," but was, in fact, "a direct breaching attack." The exchange comes late in the conversation with Robert Carter, an aide to Rep. Michael C. Burgess (R-TX). Carter asks Kennedy directly whether this involved a protest, and Kennedy says no: |

FBI official at center of alleged Clinton email 'quid pro quo' speaks out |
2016-10-19 |
Director Comey - Was he aware of the 'quid pro quo' in the FBI 302 report ? Around May 2015, Patrick Kennedy finally called back. "He said, 'Brian. Pat Kennedy. I need a favor,' " McCauley recalled in an interview Tuesday. "I said, 'Good, I need a favor. I need our people back in Baghdad." Then Kennedy, a longtime State Department official, explained what he wanted in return: "There's an email. I don't believe it has to be classified." The email was from Hillary Clinton's private server, and Kennedy wanted the FBI to change its determination that it contained classified information. McCauley and others ultimately rejected the request, but the interaction - which McCauley said lasted just minutes over maybe two conversations - has become the latest focal point of the bitter 2016 presidential campaign. The Democratic candidate's critics have suggested that the conversation between the State Department and the FBI demonstrated inappropriate collusion to benefit Clinton. In an hour-long interview with The Washington Post, his first public comments on the matter, McCauley acknowledged that he offered to do a favor in exchange for another favor, but before he had any inkling of what Kennedy wanted. The FBI and the State Department have denied that McCauley and Kennedy ever engaged in a "quid pro quo." |

Continuing Update: New FBI release on HRC email probe refers to 'Shadow Government' |
2016-10-18 |
[CBS] A new trove of interview summaries and notes from the FBI's investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails lays out a series of allegations that could prove fodder for future attacks on the Democratic presidential nominee. The 100 pages, released Monday morning, include claims that Clinton "blatantly" disregarded protocol. Other claims include that a group of powerful State Department employees attempted to coordinate a document release, and that a department official asked for a "quid pro quo" related to the former secretary of state's emails. The documents, part four of four to be released by the FBI, include notes and interview summaries that may illuminate more about the bureau's decision not to recommend Clinton be prosecuted for her actions. Many Republicans have criticized that decision, but FBI Director James Comey has repeatedly insisted the move was apolitical. "I want the American people to know we really did this the right way. You can disagree with us, but you cannot fairly say we did it in any kind of political way," Comey said in July. "We don't carry water for anybody. We were trying to do what the right thing is." One revelation in the documents came from an interview with an unidentified person who suggested that Freedom of Information Act requests related to Clinton went through a group sometimes called "the Shadow Government." "There was a powerful group of very high-ranking STATE officials that some referred to as 'The 7th Floor Group' or 'The Shadow Government.' This group met every Wednesday afternoon to discuss the FOIA process, Congressional records, and everything CLINTON-related to FOIA/Congressional inquiries," the FBI's interview summary said. That group, according to the summary, argued for a Clinton document release to be conducted all at once "for coordination purposes" instead of on a rolling basis as would normally be the case. But the "Shadow Government" did not get its way, and the agency in charge decided for a rolling release, the FBI summary said. Another claim from the documents is that one unidentified interviewee said Undersecretary of State Patrick Kennedy pressured the FBI to unclassify certain emails from Clinton's private server that were previously deemed classified. The interviewee said Kennedy contacted the FBI to ask for the change in classification in "exchange for a 'quid pro quo.'" |

An Attempted Hillary Email Coverup? |
2016-10-17 |
A senior State Department official repeatedly pressed the FBI to change the classification of emails stored on Hillary Clinton's private server, according to FBI interview summaries set to be released in the coming days. Patrick Kennedy, the undersecretary of state for management, discussed providing additional overseas slots for the FBI in exchange for revisions to classifications of the sensitive emails. But..but..groping.. |

Watchdog: It's 'Hard To Believe' Top State Dept. Official Was Unaware Of Hillary's Email Server |
2016-02-18 |
[Daily Caller] The president of the conservative watchdog group Citizens United says it is "hard to believe" that Patrick Kennedy, the State Department's under secretary for management, was unaware that Hillary Clinton used a private email server during her stint as secretary of state. Last week, The Daily Caller reported that the State Department claimed that Kennedy, a 42-year veteran of the agency, was unaware that Clinton was utilizing the private email server as part of her off-the-books email setup. State Department spokesman Mark Toner also said that Kennedy told the House Select Committee on Benghazi during an interview earlier this month that he did not know about the server. The stench and smoke of Birkenau were similarly ignored. |

'Top Secret' Intel Handled by At Least a Dozen of Hillary's Top Aides |
2016-02-12 |
[LI] At least a dozen email accounts handled the "top secret" intelligence that was found on Hillary Clinton's server and recently deemed too damaging for national security to release, a U.S. government official close to the review told Fox News. The security violations were common knowledge and wide spread. Shocking absolutely SHOCKING ! The official said the accounts include not only Clinton's but those of top aides -- including Cheryl Mills, Huma Abedin, Jake Sullivan and Philippe Reines -- as well as State Department Under Secretary for Management Patrick Kennedy and others. "Others" meaning members of the Obama regime, the Russians, Chinese, Iranians, NORKS ? A second source not authorized to speak on the record said the number of accounts involved could be as high as 30 and reflects how the intelligence was broadly shared, replied to, and copied to individuals using the unsecured server. The State Department recently confirmed that the messages in question include the most sensitive kind of intelligence. On Jan. 29, Fox News first reported that some emails on Clinton's server were too damaging to release in any form. The State Department subsequently announced that 22 "top secret" emails were being withheld in full; these were the messages being handled by more than a dozen accounts. As predicted here months ago, the 'Too Big to Fail' train is arriving precisely on schedule. |

Whistleblower: Beest's Chief of Staff Quashed State Dept. Scandal Investigation |
2015-08-13 |
[Breitbart] A former senior investigator with the State Department's criminal investigative unit has turned whistleblower and alleged to both the media and Congress that senior staff within State Department covered up investigations into appalling behavior committed by members of Hillary Clinton's security staff and our ambassador to Belgium. One of those alleged to have interfered was Cheryl Mills, Hillary's chief of staff. The case in which Clinton enforcer Mills allegedly intervened centered upon Brett McGurk, Obama's nominee to be US ambassador to Iraq. McGurk's expected nomination fell apart after a computer hack exposed his racy e-mails and an extramarital affair with Wall Street Journal reporter Gina Chon. According to the memo, the SID "never interviewed McGurk, allegedly because Cheryl Mills from the Secretary's office interceded." "Without that interview, SID has been unable to close the case," the memo concludes. Mills is a longtime associate of the Clintons, going back to 1992, and was also at the center of the first scandal to hit Hillary's State Department: Benghazi. Gregory Hicks, the former Deputy Chief of Mission in Libya, testified before Congress that Mills instructed him not to cooperate with the Congressional investigation into the September 11 terror attacks. Mills isn't the only high-ranking official being named. Patrick Kennedy, the Undersecretary of State for Management, is directly accused of killing an investigation into our Ambassador to Belgium, Howard Gutman, who is accused of slipping away from his security detail to solicit sex from minor children. Appears a rift exists, or has existed between the Clinton inner circle and Foggy Bottom career DoS, Foreign Service types. The gloves are off, the 'cheese eating' has begun. Make no mistake, a Federal investigation is now officially underway and people are diving for cover. As has been said here previously, the Beest did not act alone. We may be seeing more of Joe Biden very, very soon. |

HHS to issue sweeping mental health rules |
2013-11-09 |
![]() The added costs will, of course, have no effect on health insurance rates. In testimony Thursday before a Senate Judiciary subcommittee, mental health advocate and former Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.) said Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius would announce the action during a speech in Atlanta. Members of the panel familiar with the rule-making also said the regulations would be issued Friday. I'll bet the Kennedy's get a group rate... Kennedy, during his 16-year tenure in Congress, championed legislation designed to bring insurance parity to people suffering from addiction and mental illness. The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equality Act was enacted in 2008, but key regulations are not yet in place. "Naively, it turns out, we believed we had done the heavy lifting and thought the regulatory process would simply operationalize the solution we had achieved," Kennedy said. "In truth, the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equality Act instead entered a kind of twilight zone in which everyone with an interest in it was left to imagine what it meant." The result, politicians and witnesses at the hearing said, has been a lengthy period of uncertainty for insurers and gaps in coverage form mental illness sufferers that were meant to be closed with enactment of the 2008 law. "Five years after the act was passed, this promise remains unfulfilled," said Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), chairman of the Judiciary subcommittee on Oversight, Federal Rights and Agency Action. "The costs have been tremendous," Blumenthal said. "In mental health, uncertainty kills." Kennedy, who has himself struggled with addiction and mental illness, said the new rules are urgently needed to ensure that soldiers returning from overseas with traumatic brain injuries and post-traumatic stress issues have access to treatment. |

Hildebeast sought to cut counter-terrorism unit out on night of Benghazi attack | |||||||||||
2013-05-06 | |||||||||||
On the night of Sept. 11, as the Obama administration scrambled to respond to the Benghazi terror attacks, then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and a key aide effectively tried to cut the department's own counterterrorism bureau out of the chain of reporting and decision-making, according to a "whistle-blower" witness from that bureau who will soon testify to the charge before Congress, Fox News has learned.
Fox News has also learned that another official from the counterterrorism bureau -- independently of Thompson -- voiced the same complaint about Clinton and Under Secretary for Management Patrick Kennedy to trusted national security colleagues back in October. Thompson considers himself a whistle-blower whose account was suppressed by the official investigative panel that Clinton convened to review the episode, the Accountability Review Board (ARB).
Sources close to the congressional investigation who have been briefed on what Thompson will testify tell Fox News the veteran counterterrorism official concluded on Sept. 11 that Clinton and Kennedy tried to cut the counterterrorism bureau out of the loop as they and other Obama administration officials weighed how to respond to -- and characterize -- the Benghazi attacks. "You should have seen what (Clinton) tried to do to us that night," the second official in State's counterterrorism bureau told colleagues back in October. Those comments would appear to be corroborated by Thompson's forthcoming testimony. State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki called the counterterrorism officials' allegation "100 percent false." A spokesman for Clinton said tersely that the charge is not true.
Those talking points -- and indeed, the statements of all senior Obama administration officials who commented publicly on Benghazi during the early days after the attacks -- sought instead to depict the Americans' deaths as the result of a spontaneous protest that went awry. The administration later acknowledged that there had been no such protest, as evidence mounted that Al Qaeda-linked terrorists had participated in the attacks. The latter conclusion had figured prominently in the earliest CIA drafts of the talking points, but was stricken by an ad hoc group of senior officials controlling the drafting process. Among those involved in prodding the deletions, the documents published by The Weekly Standard show, was State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland, who wrote at one point that the revisions were not sufficient to satisfy "my building's leadership."
Also appearing before the oversight committee on Wednesday will be Gregory N. Hicks, the deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Libya at the time of the Benghazi terrorist attacks. Like Thompson, Hicks is a career State Department official who considers himself a Benghazi whistle-blower.
Hicks told the committee that he and his colleagues on the ground in Libya that night knew instantly that Benghazi was a terrorist attack, and that he was astonished that no one drafting the administration's talking points consulted with him before finalizing them, or before U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice delivered them on the Sunday talk shows of Sept. 16.
