2024-07-07
[GEO.TV] In a harrowing incident, a school's headmaster allegedly raped a 10-year-old female student in the city's Moach Goth area on Saturday.
"She was dressed provocatively. What else could I do?"
A case has been registered at the Mochko Police Station on the complaint by the victim's father, said the police officials.

The father, in the first information report (FIR), said that three of his daughters take tuitions from the headmaster.

"The headmaster called and asked to send our daughters on June 21, saying he wants to give them eidi. However,

when I refused, the headmaster insisted after which I sent my daughters," said the FIR.

Following the incident, the girl also underwent medical examination. The police said they are waiting for the report.

The victim's parents and local residents of the area protested at the Hub River Road against the suspect not being arrested. Due to the protest, the traffic was affected.

In a similar incident last month, a principal of a private school was arrested for torturing and harassing a female student. He was accused of attempting to rape a Class 10 student at the school near Orangi Town.

The principal had been sending obscene messages and harassing the victim for several days.

During the incident, he allegedly turned the CCTV camera towards the ceiling and coerced the student to commit adultery, threatening to fail her in her matriculation exams and ruin her future if she did not comply.

Karachi violence
2019-03-28
[DAWN] FOR the past four decades or so, Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
has experienced several waves of violence, with periods of uneasy calm in between.

Sometimes bloodshed has manifested itself in political killings, at other times ethnic violence has erupted, while the threat of sectarian trouble is always bubbling under the surface. Throw into this lethal mix the incidence of deadly street crime, and a picture of a metropolis constantly on edge emerges.

While the city has seen some semblance of peace since the 2013 law-enforcement operation, this calm is often shattered by violent incidents that remind both the state and citizens how fragile the situation in Karachi is. Just on Wednesday, a number of violent incidents took place in the city, including murders and break-ins. In one incident, a teenager was rubbed out upon resisting an attempt to rob a few thousand rupees.

Over the past few weeks, a number of high-profile attacks have taken place, including the targeting of religious scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani; a police guard and another individual accompanying the mufti were killed, and though police claim to have made headway in the case, no solid leads have emerged. Only a day after the attack on the mufti, Wajahat Hussain, a youth related to an MWM leader, was bumped off in Orangi Town.

From circumstantial evidence, it seems the same set of elements that had previously sown chaos in the city have become active again. However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
only a proper intelligence-based analysis can uncover the sources of instability.

It needs to be ascertained where the threats are primarily emanating from. Have sectarian killers and political assassins become active again, or does the threat lie elsewhere, for example in killers for hire? Are small-time Mister Big gangs taking advantage of the chaos in Karachi, or are foreign players meddling in the city’s peace?

The situation needs to be studied deeply by the law-enforcement and intelligence apparatus to break the latest cycle of violence. Moreover, one key reason for recurring bloodshed is the fact that Karachi is awash with guns. Other than lip service, over the years no government ‐ federal or provincial ‐ has considered a serious de-weaponisation drive for Karachi. That is why everyone from professional killers to street criminals is armed to the teeth, and able to take precious lives at will.

The authorities need to arrest the rising violent crime graph before bloodshed once more becomes routine in Karachi.

...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
The judge, who conducted the trial in the judicial complex inside the central prison, pronounced the verdict, which was earlier reserved after recording evidence and final arguments from both sides.

The judge awarded them a collective sentence of 21-year imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs60,000 each. They would undergo an additional 18-month imprisonment each on default.

According to the prosecution, the Rangers and police had conducted a joint intelligence-based operation in Orangi Town and detained Irshad and Lodhi on July 18.

During the interrogation, the convicts had disclosed that they were planning the liquidation of politicians to sabotage the peace prior to the polls under orders of their party leaders.

It further alleged that the MQM-L’s South Africa network, led by Qamar Islam Teddi, had set up murder teams in June to assassinate rival political candidates, including those who had left the MQM-L, to sabotage holding of peaceful elections.

The prosecution further alleged that both the convicts had admitted to have been provided with financial resources by the MOM’s London secretariat.

It claimed that the convicts were assigned the initial task to kill Mohsin Javed and Arif Hussain Qureshi, who were contesting elections on PS-128 from the platform of the Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz and Pakistain Peoples Party, respectively. Besides, the Pak Sarzameen Party’s office-bearers in Gulbahar Moin and Azhar were also on their list, it added.

and her fiancé was rubbed out in Swat, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, after accusing them of "meeting and taking selfies" last month, it emerged on Monday.

The 19-year old girl was allegedly poisoned by her father in Pirabad area of Orangi Town while her fiancé, who was also her maternal cousin, was rubbed out in Swat

in the alleged incident of so-called honour killing, Karachi police said.

The dear departed girl’s mother lodged a complaint with the court which directed police to lodge a murder case, after which the victim’s father and grandfather were nabbed
Book 'im, Mahmoud!
, revealed Pirabad SHO Ayaz Brohi.

The arrested father, however, claimed that her daughter did away with himself by taking poisonous substance inside their home in Qasba Colony.

SHO Ayaz Brohi said the death of the girl occurred on November 7. "Next day, the father and other relatives buried her body by claiming that she had did away with himself. No autopsy was conducted," he said.

However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
the girl’s mother later filed an application before the district and session judge West who ordered the police to get the murder case registered on her complaint.

Pirabad police, in compliance with the court’s order, registered the murder case on November 24 and arrested the dear departed girl’s father, Abdul Raheem, and grand-father, Abdul Hakeem, who were later sent to the prison on judicial remand. The matter has now been handed over to the Sherlocks for further probe.

The complainant told police that several days prior to the incident, her sister had come from their native town in Swat along with her son Salman, who was the fiancé of the victim girl.

She stated that the couple met and took pictures, but later objections were raised by the girl’s relatives.

SHO Ayaz Brohi said that as per statement of the mother, her maternal nephew was rubbed out in Swat over so-called honour killing and later on her daughter was also murdered in Karachi.

The officer said that since the youth’s murder did not take place in Karachi, there were not in a position to comment on the murder allegation.

He said the police were waiting to exhume the body of the girl buried in a local graveyard in Karachi to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Bail plea of suspect in minor girl’s rape, murder case rejected
2018-10-26
[DAWN] KARACHI: An antiterrorism court has rejected the bail application of a detained suspect in a case pertaining to alleged abduction, rape and murder of a six-year-old girl.

Police claimed to have booked three suspects along with their two absconding accomplices for allegedly abducting the minor girl on April 12 and murdering her after subjecting her to sexual assault within the remit of the Orangi Town cop shoppe.

The victim’s body was found in a deserted area on April 12.

The incident sparked a violent protest by her family and residents of the area.

One of the three detained suspects had moved an application seeking post-arrest bail on the basis of an affidavit said to have been signed by the slain child’s parents.

The ATC-I judge pronounced his verdict, which was earlier reserved after hearing arguments from the defence and the prosecution.

In his order, the judge observed that the case record showed that the accused was connected with the serious crime of kidnapping of a minor girl, who was subsequently murdered after being raped.

Suspect in Orangi bus arson attack acquitted
2018-06-17
[DAWN] An antiterrorism court has acquitted an accused in a case pertaining to alleged arson attack on a passenger bus in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
The ATC judge, who is conducting the trial in the judicial complex inside the Central Jail Karachi, pronounced the judgement after recording evidence and concluding arguments from both sides.

The judge found Ismail, alias Bhayanak, not guilty of the charges levelled against him by the prosecution.

The court noted in its order that the prosecution had failed to establish the allegations, as the evidence produced during the trial was not sufficient to connect him with the commissioning of the offence.

Therefore, the judge acquitted Ismail and directed the prison authorities to release him forthwith in case his custody was not required in any other case.

According to the prosecution, Ismail, alias Bhayanak, said to be a political activist, was involved in setting a passenger bus on fire in Orangi Town.

A case of the arson attack was registered at the Pakistain Bazaar cop shoppe in 2016.

During the trial, the police investigating officer said ample evidence was available on record to determine that the suspect was involved in the attack and spreading terror in the area.

However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
the defence counsel contended that there was no evidence to connect his client with the commissioning of the offence, as the prosecution had failed to record statements of eyewitnesses, including the bus driver and passengers, who were allegedly injured in the incident.

The lawyer claimed that the police had booked his client in the case with mala fide intentions and on the basis of personal enmity. Therefore, he argued that false allegations were levelled against Ismail, who may be acquitted of the charges.
