was remanded in jug by a UK magistrate on Monday, after London’s Metropolitan police charged him with three terrorism offenses.

Choudary, 56, faces charges of belonging to a proscribed organization, addressing meetings to encourage support for a proscribed organization and directing a terrorist organization, the force said.

Both appeared separately at Westminster Magistrates Court in London, which heard that the charges relate to "an extreme form of Islam."

Chief magistrate Paul Goldspring ordered the pair remanded in jug and set their next appearance, at the central criminal courthouse known as the Old Bailey, on August 4.

Choudary, from east London, wore a black jacket and glasses, and spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during Monday’s 30-minute court hearing. He was not asked to enter any pleas to the three charges.

A lawyer for Hussein, who is from Edmonton in the Canadian province Alberta, said he would not be entering a plea. The defendant spoke — in a Canadian accent — only to confirm his name, date of birth and address.

He is alleged to have been in "close contact" with Choudary online to provide "a platform" for the group’s views for around two years, the court heard.

Counterterror officers investigating alleged membership of the proscribed organization arrested both men last Monday, the Metropolitan police has said.

Officers detained Choudary in east London and held Hussein at Heathrow Airport after he arrived on a flight.

The BBC has a photo of the weedy, Canadian-looking Mr. Hussein, adding:

Mr Hussein is charged with being a member of Al Muhajiroun. Prosecutors allege he helped set up its Canadian branch and say he was "in effect working for" Choudary.

An offshoot of Al-Muhajiroun was banned, or proscribed, in 2006 for glorifying terrorism.

That ban was expanded in 2010 to include a number of other names, including Al-Muhajiroun.

UK media also highlighted that Khan had come to the British security services' attention at the age of 15 but that no action had been taken by the authorities to discourage his hate-preaching.

In further confirmation of the fact that Usman Khan had no relation of any kind with Pakistain as far his extremism is concerned, British media and commentators have condemned UK’s counter-terrorism approach and jail system.

It has been now confirmed that Khan was a close friend and student of Anjem Chaudary, a convicted krazed killer preacher. After the London Bridge attacker was arrested with his Bangladeshi and Indian terror associates in 2010 in relation to the gang’s London bombings, Anjum Chaudhary described him as his "student" and "friend".

Media further wrote that Khan was bullied at school over his facial hair and suffered exclusion and racism when he was a child. The son of a hard-working taxi driver, he attended Haywood High School in Burslem, Stoke, but dropped out without any qualifications.

Local media also added that Khan desperately tried to fit in by wearing designer clothes and be liked at school by keeping up with the latest fashion but had no confidence and would never speak up. He had started growing beard at an early age.

Al-Muhajiroun is a banned holy warrior organization that was based in Britannia but also ran a Lahore safe house for visiting British Moslems. The group operated in Britannia from January 14, 1986 to August 2005. In January 2010, the British government banned al-Muhajiroun.

He was sentenced to prison in September 2016. Choudary has stated that he will continue his recruitment activities from prison. Born in the UK on January 18, 1967, Anjem Choudary is the son of a Welling market trader and is of Pak descent.

Information released by the US State Department shows that El Shafee Elsheikh travelled to Syria in 2012, joined Al Qaeda’s local branch, and later joined the bad boy Islamic State group. In May 2016, Elsheikh was identified as a member of the IS execution cell known as "The Beatles," a group accused of beheading more than 27 hostages and torturing many more.

Elsheikh was said to have earned a reputation for waterboarding, mock executions, and crucifixions while serving as an IS jailer.

Sami Bouras is a Swedish citizen of Tunisian descent who is an alleged member of Al Qaeda and who has been involved with planning suicide kabooms.

Shane Dominic Crawford is a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago and the State Department identified him as a foreign terrorist fighter in Syria carrying out terrorist activity on behalf of IS, including acting as an English language propagandist for the group.

Mark John Taylor is a New Zealand national who has been fighting in Syria with IS since the fall of 2014. Taylor has used social media, including appearing in a 2015 IS propaganda video, to encourage terrorist attacks in Australia and New Zealand, the State Department said.

"Elsheikh, Choudary, Bouras, Crawford, and Taylor have committed or pose a significant risk of committing acts of terrorism," the notification warned.

Meetings were also held in a nearby Methodist church hall.

Mohammed Choudry, 23, was found guilty of encouraging support for Isil, while Mohammed Istiak Alamgir, 37, Rajib Khan, 38, and Yousaf Bashir, 36, were convicted of similar offences last summer.

The invitation-only gatherings in June and July 2015 featured speeches calling for gay people to be thrown from buildings, the court heard.

Those attending the speeches included Shazib and Junead Khan. Junead Khan is serving a life sentence for plotting to kill a US soldier in the UK, while Shazib Khan is serving a 13-year jail term for plans to fight alongside Isis in Syria.

Rahman, from Luton, was convicted of three counts of arranging meetings in support of a proscribed organization, while Choudry, from Maidenhead, Berkshire, was convicted of one count of encouraging support for a proscribed organization.

Judge Michael Topolski QC told the pair they had been convicted "of arranging meetings and speaking at a meeting in support of a vicious terrorist organization, who's members and supporters, just like you two, have hijacked and corrupted the principles and practices of an ancient and revered religion for its own purposes".

Dean Haydon, the head of the Metropolitan Police’s Counterterrorism Command, said in a statement, "These men have stayed just within the law for many years, but there is no one within the counterterrorism world that has any doubts of the influence that they have had, the hate they have spread and the people that they have encouraged to join terrorist organizations."

Abu Rumaysah was a Hindu who Converted to Islam

Sources in London revealed the identity of the “murderer” who appeared in the latest ISIS video which showed him killing 5 people accused by the organisation of spying for Britain. He spoke with a British accent and threatened the United Kingdom with terrorist attacks. Sources say that the British man named Siddhartha Dhar (Abu Rumaysah) was formerly a Hindu and then converted to Islam several years ago. The sources added that Abu Rumaysah was a leader of the Al-Muhajiroun organisation which was founded by Omar Bakri Muhammad, a Syrian who is currently being held at Rumiyyah prison in south Lebanon.

Al-Muhajiroun sources told Asharq Al-Awsat yesterday that Abu Rumaysah is considered one of the converts to Islam in the group, and that their number exceeds 20. The most prominent of these converts is Abu Izz Al-Din who is of Jamaican origin.

Scotland Yard police had arrested Abu Rumaysah on charges of incitement but after his release on bail in 2014, he fled to Syria. He joined ISIS in the city of Al-Raqqah and appeared in a video carrying his newborn baby, his fourth son, with one hand and a rifle with the other.

The sister of Abu Rumaysah Konika Dhar acknowledged that the voice of the “murderer” in the latest video resembles her brother’s voice but said that she could not say for sure. She vowed to kill him herself if it is proven that he is the perpetrator and the British authorities have not yet made an official comment with regards to this.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said Wednesday that Choudary, 48, and Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, 32, have been charged with supporting ISIS, which is a banned

"We have concluded that there is sufficient evidence and it is in the public interest to prosecute Anjem Choudary and Mohammed Rahman for inviting support for ISIL, a proscribed terrorist organization," said Sue Hemming, head of special crime and counter-terrorism at the CPS, in a statement.

"It is alleged that Anjem Choudary and Mohammed Rahman invited support for ISIS in individual lectures which were subsequently published online," she said.

Each man is charged with one offence under Britannia's Terrorism Act 2000. They were set to appear on Wednesday at Westminster Magistrates Court.

The group was formed by elements close to Al-Shabaab commander Muhamed Kuno aka Dulyadeen-Gamadheere, a man wanted by Kenya authorities, under Gamadheere’s instructions.

Relevancy of Al-Muhajiroun to Somali militant Islamist group Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen.

Al-Muhajiroun has been conducting recruitment of professionals. The group was involved in the recruitment of the three female university students arrested crossing to Somalia by Kenya Security Forces.

This group is the replacement for groups like Al-Hijra which have been losing clout as jihadists. Al-Qaeda is actually seeking to better its defense against ISIS which seeks to establish ties and networks with East African jihadists.

Banned Extremists Recruit Near Stockholm Bomber's Luton Home

The outlawed Islamist group al-Muhajiroun is openly recruiting near the home of the suicide bomber who blew himself up on a Stockholm street last week.

This has been going on there for years without police interference. Click on al-Muhajiroun, above, to read articles from the Rantburg archives on the subject.

MI5 and anti-terrorist police are attempting to unravel what transformed the father of three into an extremist. But moderate Muslims in Luton, where Iraqi-born Taimour Abdulwahab lived for almost 10 years, claim the authorities are to blame for turning a blind eye to the activities of hard-core jihadi sympathisers.

Unimpeded by the police, the group, now calling itself The Reflect Project, is accused of mounting a campaign of intimidation and violence against those who disagree with it. The group's members are followers of the radical cleric Omar Bakri Muhammad, who is being held in jail in Lebanon on terrorism charges, and are led locally by Ishtiaq Alamgir or Sword of Islam -- a former inland revenue accountant.

Islamists cancel Wootton Bassett anti-war march

A radical Islamic group has cancelled plans to hold an anti-war march through a town famous for honouring the UK's servicemen and women killed abroad. Members of Islam4UK had planned to march through Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire, to honour Muslims killed in the Afghanistan conflict. The government had been considering outlawing the group, which is said to have extremist links.

Earlier this week, Gordon Brown said plans for the march were "disgusting".

Families of soldiers who died in Afghanistan had condemned the planned march, and MPs signed a motion calling on the home secretary and local authorities to prevent the protest. Wootton Bassett has become the focus of public mourning, with hundreds lining the streets every time hearses carrying the repatriated bodies of killed UK service personnel are driven through the town from nearby RAF Lyneham.

On Sunday, a statement from Islam4UK's leader, Anjem Choudary, said it had "successfully highlighted the plight of Muslims in Afghanistan".

"We at Islam4UK have decided, after consultation with others including our Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad, that no more could be achieved even if a procession were to take place in Wootton Bassett," he said. The group denied members had planned to carry 500 empty coffins through the town.

Islam4UK had previously said it had chosen Wootton Bassett to create maximum publicity.

The News of the World reported on Sunday that Home Secretary Alan Johnson would outlaw the group on Monday. The newspaper said comments made by senior members of Islam4UK and on websites breached the Terrorism Act. A Home Office spokesman said the final decision on whether to ban the group rested with Mr Johnson but he would not confirm the plan.

North Wiltshire MP James Gray said he was "extremely glad" Islam4UK had abandoned its plans, and he also condemned Mr Choudary's actions as a "media stunt".

"He was trying to make a political statement, the whole announcement was to get media coverage - he admitted that himself - and he achieved it. He received lots of coverage," he said. Mohammed Shafiq, from the Ramadhan Foundation, said Mr Choudary had been deliberately provocative.

"His attempt to demonstrate at Wootton Bassett was set out to provoke hatred between communities and is not welcomed in the Muslim communities," he said. "He and his cronies have no support in the British Muslim communities."

What's good for Nazis works for jihadis

President Obama was right when he declared after convening the post mortem on the Detroit debacle that "we have to do better." The simple fact is that $42 billion later, Americans do not feel much safer getting on an airplane than they did eight years ago. Despite the post- Sept. 11 upgrades in security, despite the long lines, the inconveniences of removing shoes and belts and coming soon to an airport near you - full body scans - we are not reassured that the next disaster is not lurking just around the corner. People are concerned we aren't doing enough to fight the enemy and we're still not sure we've fully identified the enemy.

The administration and its Republican critics are still arguing whether Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan's Ft. Hood massacre constitutes an act of terrorism. That dispute is reflected in a larger debate of whether we are still in a "war against terror" and whether individuals like Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab should be treated as enemy combatants or read their Miranda Rights as common criminals.

But however that debate shakes out, there is an important move, that would cost little but could strike a blow against extremism and make our skies a little safer: The president admitted that the current watch list is inadequate. But America needs to immediately expand its terrorist watch list. Consider this fact: While the United States has a database of 500,000 individuals implicated in criminal activity, only 1,700 of those names are on the terrorist watch list banning entry into the United States. Compare that to the watch list developed by the U.S. Justice Department of suspected Nazi war criminals. Developed in the 1980s, 40,000 individuals were initially listed, but later the list expanded beyond 70,000 when the Office of Special Investigations on Nazi War Crimes (OSI) included the entire roster of the Nazi SS - and all others who belonged to groups that abetted genocide.

Most of those aging genociders are in their 80s or 90s today and the hunt for Nazi war criminals will soon reach its biological solution. But not so Islamist terrorism - only in its genesis - which is the scourge of all humanity at the dawn of the new decade. It is inconceivable that in fighting the existential threat of terrorism, that we can be operating with a list of only 1,700 people to bar from entering the United States. To better protect the flying public and to strike a blow against extremists who today regularly indescriminantly slaughter fellow Muslims, the Department of Homeland Security should take a page from the Nazi watch list and immediately add those who openly support and abet terrorism. In practical terms, it means immediately listing the many thousands of names of all known members and enablers of Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, Hamas, Indonesia's Jemmah Islamiyah and other terror groups listed by the State Department and the European Union.

And there are others who never fired a bullet, or strapped themselves to a ticking bomb, who nevertheless deserve to be publicly placed on America's terror watch list. They include Al Jazeera's Sheik Yusuf Qaradawi, whose online fatwa insists that Palestinian women have the right to attain martyrdom by blowing themselves up amidst Israelis. There is Omar Bakri Muhammad, who once claimed to be a recruiter for al Qaeda and organized the "Magnificent 19" (Sept. 11 bombers) in London. Jordan's Dr. Ibrahim Zayd Al-Kilani, who said this: "killing a transgressing American soldier" is an obligation and a kind of jihad. There are the followers of Indonesia's notorious Abu Bakar Bashir, Jamaica's Abdullah el-Faisel, and Libyan-born Abu Yaha al- Libi, who defends the "legitimacy" of violent jihad as a "religious obligation." And of course, Yemen's favorite American Anwar al-Awlaki who served as spiritual mentor and validator to Ft. Hood's Maj. Hasan and the Northwest Airlines terrorist.

We have no doubts that a simple e-mail to all U.S. embassies by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton would flush out many more terror enablers. To be sure, errors will be made and anyone who stands accused of such activity must be given recourse to clear their names. It may also be true that not everyone who belongs to a terrorist group will become a suicide bomber, but let them suffer the consequences - why should Americans have to take that risk?

By compiling a true terror watch list, the United States and allies will reassure the shaken flying public that no one committed to terrorism against innocent civilians is aboard their flight. Such a policy will also help strengthen the hand of moderates across the Arab and Muslim world struggling against these extremists. And by providing the guardians of our borders with accurate and timely information about all those who promote and deploy terrorism against our nation, we can help co-opt the need to turn to blanket racial and ethnic profiling.

The time to act is now.
