Utah man arrested after cops stumble upon 71 homemade bombs in his apartment
2025-04-28
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A Utah man was arrested after police discovered 71 homemade bombs and a substantial stockpile of bomb-making materials inside his Orem apartment, according to Provo Police.

Eric Whitaker, 41, was taken into custody on Friday after allegedly brandishing a weapon near the Provo Towne Centre Mall. Following his arrest, authorities secured a search warrant for his apartment.

Inside, officers uncovered bomb-making supplies and 'a large number of home-made improvised explosive anti-personnel fragmentation grenade devices,' Provo Police said in a press release.

The Metro Bomb Squad was called to the scene, prompting the evacuation of the apartment building as the devices were recovered safely.

In total, 71 homemade explosive devices were seized along with additional bomb-making materials.

Whitaker is now facing 71 counts of possession of weapons of mass destruction and one count of possessing bomb-making materials. The case has been referred to the Utah County Attorney's Office.

We are proud of our Patrol Officers for their fast response to the initial report of suspicious activity, and their continued assistance to our Detectives during the follow-up investigation.

'We also appreciate Orem PD's Patrol Division for assisting in the evacuation measures during the search warrant.'

This case follows just a month after a would-be suicide bomber in the UK was jailed for plotting to “kill as many nurses as possible” in a pressure cooker explosion at a hospital in Leeds.

Mohammad Farooq brought a homemade bomb—modeled after the 2013 Boston Marathon devices but packed with twice as much explosive—into St James’s Hospital in January 2023.

He was talked out of carrying out the attack by patient Nathan Newby, whom Justice Cheema-Grubb described as “an extraordinary, ordinary man whose decency and kindness...prevented an atrocity in a maternity wing of a major British hospital.”

Farooq, a clinical support worker, had targeted the hospital after failing to access the American base at RAF Menwith Hill and was found guilty after a jury deliberated for less than two hours.

Police found him with a viable bomb, knives, black tape, and a blank-firing imitation firearm.

An investigation revealed he had been self-radicalized online and obtained bomb-making instructions from an Al Qaeda publication.

Bethan David, head of the CPS Counter Terrorism Division, said: “Farooq is an extremely dangerous individual who amassed a significant amount of practical and theoretical information that enabled him to produce a viable explosive device...The extremist views Farooq holds are a threat to our society, and I am pleased the jury found him guilty of his crimes.”

Two Hizbul Terrorists Accused Of Killing Mirwaiz Farooq Arrested 33 Years After Incident
2023-05-17
[OneIndia] The Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
Police arrested two people who were involved in the killing of Mirwaiz Mohammad Farooq, 33 years after the then chief priest of the Valley fell to the bullets of Hizbul Mujahideen
...Party of Holy Warriors, founded by Muhammad Ahsan Dar in September 1989. One of the Pak sock puppets waging jihad in Indian Kashmir. It was originally organized as the armed wing of Jamaat-e-Islami. In 1990, Dar declared Hizbul as the sword arm of Jamaat. Hizbul murdered many of the pro-independence intelligentsia in Kashmir. After the organization was taken over by Syed Salahuddin Dar and several other ex-Hizb leaders were assassinated between 2001 and 2003...
assassins, a police brass hat said on Tuesday.

Special DG CID Jammu and Kashmir R R Swain said the State Investigation Agency (SIA) arrested Javed Bhat and Zahoor Bhat who had managed to escape along with two others after the killing of Mirwaiz Farooq at his residence on May 21, 1990, as reported by PTI.

Officials, however, did not divulge other details such as when and from where the accused were arrested.

Ayoub Dar, also an accused, was already arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment by a court.

''The four accused were absconding. Main accused Abdullah Bangaroo was killed in an encounter while another accused, Ab Rehman Shigan, was also killed in an encounter during the investigation.

''Javed Bhat alias Azmat Khan and Zahoor Bhat alias Bilal managed to escape. It was Zahoor who had pulled the trigger after entering the bedroom of the Mirwaiz,'' Swain told news hounds here.

He said the absconders have been arrested by ''the long arms of the law after more than 30 years. They will face a trial now''.

''With this all accused of Mirwaiz killing have been brought to justice,'' he added. Swain said the duo, who was arrested on the basis of intelligence developed by the SIA, have been handed over to the CBI.

Giving details, Swain said Javed and Zahoor had gone underground and during all these years were hiding in Nepal and Pakistain among other places before returning to Kashmir a few years ago. ''Maintaining a low profile, changing addresses and shifting residences, they avoided the gaze of law enforcement agencies. They are now liable to immediately face trial in a designated TADA court in Delhi which has already completed the trial in respect of Dar," he added.

According to police, Mirwaiz Farooq was killed by Hizbul Mujahideen cadres, accusing him of being a 'peacenik' and an 'Indian agent'.

''A case FIR No 61/1990 came to be registered in Police Station Nageen, Srinagar to investigate the crime. Thereafter the government of the day transferred the investigation to CBI on 11 June 1990,'' Swain said.

Before killing the Mirwaiz, all the five Hizb murderous Moslems had gone to Pakistain for training in 1990. Back in Srinagar, Bangroo received instructions in April 1990 from his ISI handler in Pakistain to eliminate the Mirwaiz.

Daily Evacuation Brief March 14, 2023
2023-03-14
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • Door-to-door searches continued in Kabul, specifically focused on the area around the Shahid and Salim Karvan intersection.

  • A new round of violence over Taliban-sanctioned land redistribution initiatives has emerged in northern Faryab province as southern nomads attempt to claim Uzbek lands in northern Afghanistan. Videos have been circulating on social media showing the bloodied bodies of locals who resisted.

  • Leaked documents indicating cooperation between the Indian and Taliban governments on training Afghan diplomats have been circulating social media, leading to speculation that relations are warming despite a lack of official recognition of the Taliban government. In response to media attention, the Indian government reiterated that it does not recognize the Taliban government but will not discriminate against Afghans who wish to join the training course. Although the invitation was solely to attend a short-term online training program from Kabul, the program is sponsored by India’s foreign ministry and Taliban officials were intentionally included in the invitation list.

  • Following social media outcries in September 2022 over the forced marriage of Elaha Dilawarzai, the Taliban Supreme Court officially found Elaha’s “husband”, Taliban official Saeed Khosti, innocent of rape and forced marriage.

  • There have been multiple reports of several children being poisoned in Kabul and Rawalpindi in the last few days. Reportedly, children have ingested poisoned food that they have been given to share with their parents. Although the details of these reports remain unclear, parents should warn children about ingesting food received from strangers until more details emerge.

  • The Afghan consulate in Dubai is now run by a Taliban official after Taliban acting Foreign Minister Muttaqi replaced the Consul General who had been appointed under President Ghani and replaced him with Rahman Feda, one of his reported proteges. This transition would not have proceeded without the UAE’s consent, especially given reports that the republic-era consul general had good rapport with the UAE government.

UK student nurse charged with taking bomb to maternity ward
2023-01-28
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A student nurse appeared in a British court Friday, charged with planning to attack an air force base and taking a home-made bomb to a hospital maternity unit where he worked.

Mohammad Farooq, 27, was arrested outside St. James’s University Hospital in Leeds, northern England, on Jan. 20 with what prosecutors say was a "viable" pressure-cooker bomb containing 13.7 kilograms (30 pounds) of a homemade low-explosive mixture.

Prosecutors also allege that Farooq carried out "hostile reconnaissance" of a Royal Air Force base in northern England earlier this month after being encouraged online to attack it.

He faces one charge of preparing an act of terrorism in connection with the air base plan, which prosecutors allege was motivated by "Islamic" extremism.
Sounds like a jihadi to me.
Farooq also is charged with possessing an explosive substance and possessing an imitation firearm over the hospital incident, which prosecutors say was motivated by a grudge against another staff member.
Even if he were not a true jihadi, do we really want to import a culture that says it’s good to blow up random mothers and babies because one of the guys on your shift cracks his chewing gum? On the other hand, dear Reader, what’s your bet on how long before it is revealed that Mr. Farooq is highly connected to jihadis, and the authorities have a large file on him?
Farooq appeared by video link at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. He was not asked to enter pleas and was ordered detained until his next court hearing on Feb. 3 at London’s Central Criminal Court.
The Guardian adds:
He was arrested in the early hours of last Friday outside the maternity unit at St James’s university hospital in Leeds, where he had been due to work a shift.

Farooq is said to have told a man he "felt like killing everyone" before showing him a gun, then told police he had a bomb.

His actions at the hospital are not alleged to have been motivated by terrorism but by a grudge towards another member of staff.

Farooq, from Leeds, appeared at Westminster magistrates’ court on Friday from a cop shoppe in Bradford. He spoke to confirm his name, address and date of birth and was not asked to enter pleas to the three charges he faces.

Farooq is charged with one count of engaging in conduct with the intention of committing acts of terrorism between 12 July and last year and 20 January.

The prosecutor Mark Luckett said Farooq allegedly had instructions to assemble a homemade bomb, bought equipment and made the bomb, researched the RAF base online and engaged in reconnaissance of the alleged target.

He is also charged with possessing an explosive substance on 20 January with intent to endanger life or cause serious injury to property.

Farooq faces a further count of possessing an imitation firearm — a Gediz 9mm PAK semi-automatic pistol — with intent to cause fear of violence on the same date.

There was no application for bail and the chief magistrate, Paul Goldspring, remanded him into custody. His next appearance will be at the Old Bailey next Friday.
The Yorkshire Post makes it explicit:
But the NHS worker has also been accused of carrying out “hostile reconnaissance” of an RAF base in Yorkshire on January 10 and 18, after being inspired by radical Islam and Jihad.

Prosecutors said and he chose the target because of online encouragement to carry out a “lone wolf” attack at the site.

Farooq, from Roundhay in Leeds, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday from a police station in Bradford

Police lodge FIR as medical report of 15-year-old confirms rape
2019-05-13
[DAWN] KARACHI: Police have started the paperwork but haven't done much else against four suspects on the complaint of the mother of a rape victim after a medical report confirmed that her teenaged daughter was subjected to a sexual assault, it emerged on Saturday.

Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
police chief Dr Amir Ahmed Sheikh ordered an inquiry into a video statement of the mother of the rape victim that went viral on social media two days ago.

The Gulistan-e-Jauhar police booked a 60-year-old woman on the complaint of the girl’s mother as she accused her of being "responsible for the rape of her daughter".

On Friday night at around 11.30pm, the police brought the 15-year-old girl for a medical examination at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

Medico-Legal Officer Dr Zakia Khurshid carried out her medical examination, which confirmed that she was subjected to a sexual assault, said Police Surgeon Qarar Ahmed Abbasi.

SSP East (Investigation) Dr Mohammad Farooq told Dawn that the woman claimed that her daughter was gang-raped around one week ago.

The police detained five persons for questioning, he said, adding that since the complainant claimed that two of the suspects were unknown, the police would hold an identification parade before the family.

According to the FIR, the complainant woman said that she was living in Gulistan-e-Jauhar along with her five children and her husband worked in Islamabad.

She stated that since the last few days, her daughter remained silent and was not telling any reason about it. Two days ago, the woman said another daughter told her that in her absence, four persons and one woman came to their flat. The woman had acid with her.

The complainant said that the four suspects subjected her daughter to gang-rape and threatened her to stay silent otherwise they would throw acid on her.

The police registered the FIR against the four men and the woman under Sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistain Penal Code (PPC).

DIG East Amir Farooqi said that the complainant had earlier lodged a case against one of the suspects under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the PPC on March 19.

The police had registered the case as she claimed at that time that she had relations with the suspect and he used to visit her apartment. Subsequently, the police presented charge sheet against the suspect in court.

Later, the woman had submitted an affidavit stating that on account of "some misunderstanding" she got the FIR registered against the suspect and asked the court to quash the case.

In the new FIR, the woman nominated a 60-year-old woman, who also lived in the same building.

The DIG said when the police contacted the elderly woman, she brought 25 other women of the same building to the cop shoppe stating that they were against the complainant and asked her to leave the place.

One of the suspects was an office-bearer of the apartment’s union.

SSP Farooq said that the union had asked the complainant woman to leave the flat on May 7. A few days ago, a huge fire broke out at a supermarket and some news hounds covering the fire incident recorded the woman’s statement which went viral on social media, he said.

Jirga marries off 3-year-old girl to settle family dispute in Neelum Valley
2017-03-14
[DAWN] A jirga in Azad Jammu and Kashmire’s (AJK) Neelum Valley, in order to settle a dispute, had a three-year-old girl married to a nine-year-old boy which police claim to be a case of Vani.

Athmuqam Station House Officer (SHO) Mohammad Farooq said the jirga in the nearby village decided to marry off Aurangzeb's daughter to Mohammad Younis's son in order to settle a dispute between the two.

Aurangzeb, who filed the First Information Report (FIR) with the area police, alleged that Younis had accused him of cheating with his wife and had demanded Rs500,000 from him as penalty if he were to absolve Aurangzeb of the alleged misconduct.

However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
since Aurangzeb was unable to come up with the amount, Younis allegedly bribed the area police and had him tossed in the clink
Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up!
"That is when the jirga gathered and got my daughter married to Younis's son to settle the dispute," the petitioner alleged, claiming that his father conceded to the jirga's demand following which the marriage was solemnised.

Aurangzeb also claims that he was "forced" to give his thumbprint impression on the document the jirga prepared.

The document states that if Aurangzeb married his daughter to Younis's son, all allegations against him would be withdrawn, he would not have to pay the amount asked for and that he would not be sent to jail again.

"However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
things did not go as planned and I could not send my daughter away," he claims.

The Athmuqam SHO said six out of the fifteen people who allegedly participated in the jirga have been taken into custody.

Three of the six tossed in the clink
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
include Younis, the girl's grandfather and the holy man who solemnised the marriage.

The marriage was not registered, said the police official, adding that the police is still looking for the others accused in the case.

AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider has taken notice of the incident.

, with his son Mohammad Ali Siddiqui and others was booked at the Samanabad cop shoppe last year.

In a bail application moved through his counsel Mohammad Farooq, the suspect submitted that he was framed in the cases, because he had impleaded the Rangers and police as respondents in a petition filed before the high court for recovery of his son, Saad Siddiqui, who went missing in June 2015.

The prosecution, however, opposed the plea.

After hearing both sides, the ATC-II judge granted bail to the suspect against a surety bond of Rs500,000. The Pasban leader had already obtained bail in another case lodged against him along with former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain and some other politicians for allegedly treating and harbouring suspected terrorists, political murderous Moslems and gangsters at Dr Asim’s hospitals.

The Rangers had picked up Usman Moazzam in August last year and kept him under 90-day preventive detention for inquiry. Later, the paramilitary force handed him over to police after the registration of a case against him at the Samanabad cop shoppe under Sections 11V (directing terrorist activities), 21J (harbouring any person who committed an offence under this act) and 7 (act of terrorism) of Anti-terrorism Act, 1997.

Eight suspects including Dr Akmal Waheed and Sabiha Shahid, widow of slain suspected Lion of Islam Shahid Khan alias Qari, were showed as absconders in the case.

Fear stalks Chakwal after attack on Ahmadi place of worship
2016-12-14
[DAWN] Panic and fear on Tuesday persisted in Dulmial village, about 35km from Chakwal city, after a mob attacked a place of worship of the Ahmadi community a day earlier.

The enraged crowd occupied the worship place and set on fire religious books, fans, carpets and other items. They also offered prayers at the worship place.

An Ahmadi man, identified as Malik Khalid Javed, 65, who was present at the worship place, was struck down in his prime after having suffered a cardiac arrest, while a man -- identified as Naeem Shafique, 27, and not belonging to the minority community -- was hit by a bullet during the attack and killed. Another non-Ahmadi man, who received bullet injury, is said to be in a stable condition in the District Headquarters Hospital, Chakwal.

The situation remained tense throughout the day on Monday until army and Rangers personnel were called in. They took control of the worship place and sealed it.

Police escorted the body of Malik Javed to Chenab Nagar where he was buried.

Naeem Shafique was laid to rest in his native village of Tatral Kahoon, about 4km from Dulmial. His death was "celebrated" on social media and he was declared a "martyr".

Provincial minister Malik Tanveer Aslam, MNA Tahir Iqbal, MPA Zulfiqar Ali Khan, the regional police officer and the Rawalpindi division commissioner also reached the village.

Police started the paperwork but haven't done much else against 40 known and scores of unknown miscreants under sections 302, 324, 148, 149 of the Pakistain Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

According to sources, about 10 people were locked away
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
.

About 500 members of the Ahmadi community live in Dulmial village. The dominant tribe in the village is of Malik caste. The villagers built a mosque in 1860.

During the early 20 century some members of the Malik tribe converted to the Ahmadi faith. In 1927, a minaret of the mosque was constructed. When the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto
...9th PM of Pakistain from 1973 to 1977, and 4th President of Pakistain from 1971 to 1973. He was the founder of the Pakistain Peoples Party (PPP). His eldest daughter, Benazir Bhutto, would also serve as hereditary PM. In a coup led by General Zia-ul-Haq, Bhutto was removed from office and was executed in 1979 for authorizing the murder of a political opponent...
government declared Ahmadis non-Moslems, the issue of ownership of the mosque cropped up. However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
the atmosphere in the village remained peaceful.

In 1997, a case about the ownership of the worship place was filed.

"The case was dismissed by the Lahore High Court," Assistant Commissioner of Choa Saidan Shah Ashar Iqbal told Dawn.

"We did not follow the case deliberately as we knew that the court would order the Ahmadis to demolish the minaret and tomb of the mosque. In such an expected verdict we would never have been able to take possession of the mosque," Faiz Ahmed Faizi, vice-chairman of the Dulmial Union Council, said when Dawn approached him for his version.

There are six shops attached to the mosque.

Sources told Dawn that a villager settled in Canada recently came to the village and mobilised the villagers to take control of the mosque. About 580 Moslems of the village filed an application with the district coordination officer a couple of weeks ago, asking the DCO to get the mosque vacated from the Ahmadis. "We request you to help us in vacating the mosque, otherwise we would be forced to take an extreme measure," they warned in their application.

On Dec 5, the Ahmadis also filed an application drawing the DCO’s attention to the simmering tension in the village. It stated that on Dec 2 some holy mans from outside the village had addressed the Friday congregation and mobilised the villagers to occupy the worship place by force.

"You are kindly requested to take adequate security measures to protect the life and property and worship places of the Ahmadi community," Malik Zahid Hameed, local president of Jamaat-e-Ahmediya, and the organization’s chief security officer retired Col Mohammad Farooq Malik pleaded in the application.

A hate campaign against the marginalised community was also ignited on social media after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif

ordered naming the physics centre at the Quaid-e-Azam University after Nobel laureate Professor Dr Abdus Salam.

"After receiving applications from both the sides we discussed the issue at a meeting and adequate measures were taken to resolve the issue amicably," DCO Mehmood Javed Bhatti told Dawn. He said Moslem members assured the district administration that they would not change the route of the Rabiul Awwal procession. "Despite their assurance we deployed additional police force in the village. We were sure that the organisers would stick to their word but to our surprise they backtracked on their promise and changed the route of the procession," he regretted.

The DCO said coppers were deployed outside the houses of Ahmadis while Rangers remained alert in the village.

"An overwhelming number of miscreants came from adjoining villages," an Ahmadi resident claimed.

"The district administration could have taken steps to avoid this tragic situation, but it failed. However,

police did a great job by rescuing our 40 members who were trapped in the worship place," Salimuddin, spokesperson for Jamaat-e-Ahmediya, said.
