2011-02-03
[Tolo News] Five people were killed after supporters of geriatric President Hosni Mubarak opened fire on protesters in Cairo's Tahrir Square on Thursday.

Hundreds of Thousands of people have gathered in central Cairo square to bring an end to geriatric President Hosni Mubarak's government.

In a new statement the Mohammedan Brotherhood, opposition movement, suggested a national unity government to replace Mubarak's 30-year old rule.

"We demand that this regime is tossed and we demand the formation of a national unity government for all the factions," the Brotherhood said in a statement on Al Jizz.

Confirming new deaths of anti-government protesters, health officials in Egypt said 836 others were hurt in Wednesday festivities.

On Tuesday this week geriatric President Hosni Mubarak pledged he will not run for the Presidential elections this year. He also said he will reform constitution.

Protesters said Mubarak's promise was not sufficient while chanting "we will not leave. He will leave".
It has been over a week that people have staged demonstrations, but Tuesday rally was called the biggest since the beginning of the unrest.

About 300 people have bit the dust so far in the uprising, according to the United Nations, aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society.

Protesters said Mubarak's new pledge was a trick to stay in power.

Demonstrators are planning to march on the presidential palace if Mubarak refused to quit, opposition leader Mohammad Elbaradei told BBC.

Some protesters said they no more trust their leader to stick to his promises to make constitutional reform.

"The speech is useless and only inflames our anger. We will continue to protest," Shadi Morkos, a protester, told Rooters

Larijani says no need to talk to US, nuclear program transparent
2006-05-02
IRNA: Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) said here Monday that Iran dose not need to talk to the US.
"The U.S.? Eeeewww! Ucky! Cooties!"
Iran did not ask for talks with the US, on the contrary it was they who insisted on meeting with Iran on Iraq which did not happen, Ali Larijani said.
"But we ain't talkin' to them 'cuz we don't talk to infidels."
Larijani who was speaking at a student gathering in Tehran University responded to a question on what he meant by Iran-US not having talks saying "so far, these discussions have not taken place."
What's not to understand about that statement?
On the likelihood of Iran dropping out of the Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT), he said "we are not going to leave the NPT unless we are forced to do so."
Which is no statement at all, since they define "forced."
On the West's assertions that they have problems in dealing with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's government, he added "they said the same thing with the Khatami's government. The real issue is that they do not want Iran to possess peaceful nuclear technology and become a nuclear power."
Every time somebody tries to explain to you what the "real issue" is, he's trying to change the subject.
He further rejected any clandestine nuclear activities by Iran in the past years.
"No, no! Certainly not!"
"This is a big lie that Iran had hidden its activities. All of Iran's activities were announced to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)," Larijani retorted.
"If they weren't listening, that's their problem."
He further said the additional budget allocated for Bushehr nuclear powerplant is to expedite its completion. He said that Iran is able to have access to nuclear-generated electricity with the completion of Bushehr, which, he reckoned to take one year.
Always assuming it's not a hole in the ground by then. Otherwise it'll take longer.
Larijani also called on the Western nations to let the IAEA Secretary General Mohammad Elbaradei carry on with his work based on international conventions. "Tehran regards NPT as a viable international document and has accepted inspection of its facilities based on the treaty. However, it also wants to carry out nuclear research and development activities within the framework of the nuclear watchdog agency." Tehran in continuing with the nuclear program has opted for a clear and transparent approach and sees no need to hide its activities, the SNSC secretary added. Larijani stressed that Iran is not looking to prove its policies through force. "We are ready for all types of discussions to secure our legitimate rights™."

Knobby: Global Arrogance Preventing Iran From Acquiring Nuclear Technology
2004-08-09
Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said on Saturday evening that global arrogant powers are exerting every effort to prevent Iran from acquiring technology to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
Good for us global arrogant powers...
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony for an education center in southern Lebanon, he stressed that global arrogance is using the nuclear issue to make countries toe its line and force them to capitulate. War mongering is a strategy used by big powers to exert pressure on smaller countries such as the Islamic Republic of Iran so that these cannot obtain access to nuclear technology. On the other hand, they turn a blind eye to the Zionist regime which is unrestrictedly building its weapons of mass destruction, he said, expressing his regret that even the director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohammad Elbaradei, during a visit last month to the occupied Palestinian territories, pledged to help the Israeli regime complete its nuclear program.
Don't they get tired of trotting out the Zionists every 20 minutes?
Washington is exerting the same pressure on Syria, he said, while it continues to justify its failed policies in Iraq and blames anti-coalition forces for the bloodshed and massacre of civilians in that war-devastated country. Condemning the renewed desecration of Muslim holy sites in the Iraqi city of Najaf, Berri urged the Islamic and Arab states to stand up against the dictatorial policies of the oppressors.
