Around 80,000 pages of JFK files to be released today: Trump
2025-03-18
[GEO.TV] "People have been waiting for decades for this [....] It's going to be very interesting," says president.
Courtesy of Skidmark, the Jerusalem Post adds:
Earlier this year, Trump signed an executive order directing the federal government to present a plan to release records related to the assassinations of Kennedy, his brother Robert Kennedy, and Martin Luther King Jr.

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation said in early February it had found thousands of new documents related to the assassination of Kennedy.

Trump signed an order during his first week in office related to the release and promised to release also documents concerning the assassinations of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. and Senator Robert Kennedy, both of whom were killed in 1968.

NY Mag in Hot Water With Black MAGA After Fake News Piece
2025-02-11
Alinsky said, make them live up to their own standards.
[PJMedia] The Leftist rag New York Magazine
…how much did they get from USAID?
not only earned ridicule for its story falsely framing a MAGA event as a sort of white supremacist Klan bake, it now faces legal consequences from one of the black conservatives who co-hosted the event.

New York Magazine writer Brock Colyar fear-mongered that "casually cruel Trumpers" are "conquering Washington." He titled his piece about the inauguration event "The Cruel Kids’ Table" and quoted a whiner asserting "the entire room is White." So that his cover image would not contradict his lying source, the writer or his bosses at NY Mag carefully cropped their cover photo to exclude multiple black people, who were obviously visible in the original image. Yet another example of leftists canceling black people from public imagery. Aunt Jemima and Uncle Remus were unavailable for comment.

CJ Pearson told Fox News he has warned NY Mag a lawsuit is imminent. "They don't get to slander us as racist. They don't get to libel us in print. We need to fight back and hold their feet to the fire," he said fiercely. He’s the co-chair of the Republican National Committee's Youth Advisory Council, and said the event in question was held to honor major influencers of the 2024 election season.

He went on, "I am sick and tired of the left-wing mainstream media having a license to lie about conservatives and never be held accountable. If they want to slander us as racist, they ought to pay the cost when they do it."

The party, which brought together conservatives of many ethnicities, "blew up because a New York Magazine news hound... decided to essentially slander everyone in the room, trying to depict the event as if it was some KKK kumbaya pizza party," as Pearson put it to Fox.

The reality was far different. "This was a jubilant celebration celebrating the fact that we are back and that we finally have someone who’s coherent, someone who actually cares about the American people in the White House," he stated. "I think the New York Magazine was very clear in the body of their piece that they wanted to, you know, describe this and depict this as an all-White exclusive affair."

Politician Vernon Jones humorously commented on the story on X, "I was at the @realDonaldTrump inaugural event hosted by @thecjpearson and @tiktok_us. And I am as Black as Dr Martin Luther King Jr. I’m in the bottom right photo waving the Trump scarf banner."

As usual, there’s no racist like a TDS leftist.

What executive orders did Trump sign on day one?
2025-01-21
[BBC] Immigration

'National emergency'

Trump has proclaimed that "America's sovereignty is under attack", declaring this to be a national emergency that allows him to free up more funding to reinforce the border with Mexico.

The same directive tells officials to relaunch efforts to build a border wall with Mexico that was started under his first presidency. This is not an executive order and it is unclear how such an effort might be funded.

Closing the border

The president has told the military to "seal the borders" - citing the flow of illicit drugs, human smuggling and crime relating to crossings.

Birthright citizenship

Trump has ordered that officials deny the right to citizenship to the children of migrants either in the US illegally or on temporary visas.

But the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution has long been interpreted to enshrine that right, and Trump's order was immediately challenged in federal court.

Terrorism designation for gangs and cartels

Trump has designated drug cartels and international gangs as foreign terrorist organisations - adding the likes of Salvadoran gang MS-13 to a list that includes the so-called Islamic State.

'Remain in Mexico' and no more 'catch and release'

Trump has re-implemented his "Remain in Mexico" policy from his first term. This returned about 70,000 non-Mexican asylum seekers across the border to await hearings, before being cancelled by President Joe Biden.

The same order demands the end of "catch and release", a policy that allows migrants to live in US communities while they await their hearings. Trump has previously promised "the largest deportation program in American history", but this could face legal and logistical challenges.

The order also shut down a major Biden-era immigration pipeline: a sponsorship initiative that allowed up to 30,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela to fly to the US. It had been designed to cut illegal crossings.

Death penalty for some immigrant criminals

Trump has ordered that the federal death penalty be reinstated. Executions have not happened in recent years. It would apply to any "capital crime committed by an alien illegally present in this country" and anyone convicted of murdering a law-enforcement officer.

Refugee resettlement

Trump has suspended the US refugee resettlement programme, though details remain unclear.

Climate and energy

Pull out of the Paris agreement (again)

Trump has signed off on withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement - the landmark international deal to limit rising global temperatures. He will have to wait a year before it happens. He previously withdrew in 2017, before Biden re-entered.

'Energy emergency'

Trump has declared a "national energy emergency", promising to fill up oil reserves. In his inaugural address, he vowed to "drill, baby, drill" for more fossil fuels.

Alaskan fuel

He signed an executive order titled "unleashing Alaska's extraordinary resource potential", pledging to "unlock" oil, gas and other natural resources from the state.

End Green New Deal

Trump has halted the Green New Deal, a series of Biden measures that were aimed at boosting green jobs, regulating the fossil fuel industry and limiting pollution.

He has ordered agencies to halt funds appropriated through two laws, the Inflation Reduction Act and another law on infrastructure and jobs. He said the US would end leasing to wind farms and revoke what he calls an electric vehicle "mandate".

World Health Organization

Trump signed an executive order to begin the process of withdrawing the US from the UN's health body, the World Health Organization (WHO).

This marks the second time Trump has ordered the US be pulled out of the WHO, after Biden re-entered it. He was critical of how the Geneva-based institution handled Covid-19.

Diversity and gender

Transgender people

Trump has declared that the US will only recognise "two sexes, male and female. These sexes are not changeable and are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality". It is expected to affect transgender policies relating to government communications, civil rights protections and federal funding, as well as prisons. It will affect official documents like passports and visas.

In the same executive order, Trump ended all government programmes, policies, statements and communications that promote or support "gender ideology".

DEI

Trump has also halted all "diversity, equity and inclusion" (DEI) programmes within the federal government - labelling them "radical and wasteful". The administration has also promised further actions that may affect the private sector.

TikTok

Trump has signed a directive postponing by 75 days the implementation of a law that would ban Chinese-owned app TikTok in the US. The platform had briefly been shut the day before the inauguration, to comply with the law - which demands that a new American owner be found.

Trump formerly backed a TikTok ban, but indicated he reversed course after his campaign videos attracted billions of views. Asked what the action does after he signed it, he said it gives him the right to "sell it or close it".

2021 Capitol riot

Pardoning hundreds who stormed US Capitol

Trump announced he was issuing pardons for nearly 1,600 of his supporters who were arrested in the riot at the US Capitol in 2021.

Trump has repeatedly referred to those arrested in the riot as "hostages". At least 600 were charged with assaulting or impeding federal officers.

Commuting sentences of Oath Keepers, Proud Boys

Trump also commuted sentences for members of the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys, far-right groups who were convicted of seditious conspiracy in relation to the riot.

A lawyer for former Proud Boys leader Henry "Enrique" Tarrio, who was jailed for 22 years for seditious conspiracy, said his client also expected to be released.

Government reform

Doge and Elon Musk

Trump has signed a directive creating the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) - a new advisory body on cutting government costs. It is expected to be led by Elon Musk - who Trump separately said would get an office for about 20 employees.

Freeze on federal hiring

Another order halts any new federal hiring - except within the US military and several other categories - until the Trump administration has full control over the government.

Federal employees returning to the office

Trump has also signed a memorandum mandating that federal workers must work in the office and are not allowed to work from home.

Censorship

Another directive orders the "restoration of freedom of speech and preventing government censorship". It directs the attorney general to investigate the activities of officials at certain agencies - such as the Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, and Federal Trade Commission - during the Biden era.

Political prosecutions

Another executive order seeks to end the "weaponisation of government against political adversaries". It mandates a review of the work of various law enforcement and intelligence agencies under Biden to "identify any instances" of alleged weaponisation, and then recommend "appropriate remedial actions".
Reversing Biden policies

'American-First'

Trump has announced he is pausing foreign aid, outlining that he wants a review of foreign assistance programs. Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, said this was part of a new "American-First" foreign policy.

Cuba

Trump wants to undo Biden's recent decision to remove Cuba from the US list of state sponsors of terrorism. He could also reinstate sanctions against Venezuela. Both countries were frequent targets of his ire during his first administration.

Regulatory freeze

Another order directs federal agencies to refrain from issuing any new regulations until the Trump administration has full control of the government.

Unvaccinated federal workers

As part of a directive reversing Biden-era policies, Trump revoked a mandate that federal workers must be vaccinated with the Covid vaccine. He has promised to reinstate the 8,000 military service members who were discharged due to the Pentagon's Covid vaccine mandate - with full backpay.
Economy

Tackling inflation

Trump has signed a directive asking every US federal department and agency to address the cost of living. The directive, which is not an executive order, asks agencies to look at lowering the costs of housing, healthcare and key household items, groceries and fuel.

It asks for a report in 30 days. It not clear how the Trump administration intends to lower these costs - and this is not detailed in the directive.
Renaming the Gulf of Mexico

'Gulf of America' and Alaska's Mount Denali

Trump has directed the secretary of the interior to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America".

The same order also directs the secretary to rename Alaska's Mount Denali to Mount McKinley - in honour of America's 25th president whose tariff policies Trump admires. President Barack Obama changed the name from McKinley to Denali to reflect what North America's highest peak was called by native tribes.

What Trump has not acted on - yet

Tariffs

After bracing for weeks for a trade war with the US, Canada has - for now - evaded import taxes that Donald Trump had threatened to impose on the country as soon as he takes office.

But Trump said on Monday the tariffs on Canada and Mexico could come on 1 February, and ordered federal officials to review US trade relationships for unfair practices, including those with Canada, Mexico and China.

Secret documents

At a rally on Sunday, Trump said he would release classified documents related to the assassination of President John F Kennedy in 1963, a subject of countless conspiracy theories, as well as the 1968 killings of Senator Robert Kennedy and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

Crypto pile

Trump has championed cryptocurrency, and his election saw the value of Bitcoin increase by 30%. Some believe Trump will move quickly to create a federal "Bitcoin stockpile" - a strategic reserve similar to the US's stockpile of gold and oil - that he has said would serve as a "permanent national asset to benefit all Americans".

Stuck On Stupid Democrats Plan Boycott of Inauguration — PJ Media
2024-12-15
[PJMEDIA] For years, Democrats
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
have made a spectacle of their disdain for President Trump at every opportunity, so it should come as no surprise that once again, Democrats are planning to boycott his inauguration. The same thing happened in 2017, when they skipped Trump's inauguration because they claimed he'd stolen the election with the help of Russia. Now, after Trump won a landslide electoral college victory as well as the national popular vote, Democrats are once again coming up with excuses to skip the event.

According to a report from Axios, more than a dozen congressional Democrats have announced that they're going to skip the event, citing reasons ranging from ''safety concerns'' to personal principles—which is hilarious coming from any Democrat. This shameful display of partisanship not only highlights the left's inability to respect democratic processes, but also exposes its penchant for theatrics over governance.

Many Democrats justified their boycott by invoking the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, despite the fact that Trump had nothing to do with it and had called on his supporters to protest peacefully. Representative Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), the chairman of the J6 committee, referenced Trump's ''rhetoric'' against him as his rationale.

Whatever, he won't be missed.

Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-Ill.) claimed her decision stemmed from ''concerns'' about her ''safety'' as a Latina—weird she didn't use Latinx—citing Trump supporters' presence at the event. Gimme a break.

This fearmongering doesn't just insult millions of peaceful Trump voters; it reinforces the Democratic strategy of smearing political opponents as inherently racist.

Rep. Ilhan Omar
...Somali-American Dem representative from Minnesota. She was apparently married to her brother and may be her own grandmaw on her mother's side. She is a member of The Squad, and would like to make the country look a lot more like Mogadishu...
(D-Minn.) conveniently chose Martin Luther King Jr. Day events as her reason to avoid the inauguration. Something tells me that if Kamala Harris
who got her start in politix between former Oakland mayor Willie Brown's' knees
had won (God forbid), Omar would have found the time to attend the inauguration.

Again, she won't be missed. Frankly, I'd rather she and her brother not attend.

According to Axios's count, of the Democrats they contacted who responded, 13 are boycotting the 2025 inauguration, 20 are undecided, and 44 are attending. At least 55 Democrats boycotted Trump's 2017 inauguration.

You're probably thinking that after Democrats made such a big deal about the peaceful transfer of power, respecting democracy, and all that stuff, they should be making a point to attend the inauguration. Some actually are. According to Axios, Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.), sees attending as a chance to restore faith in institutions. But it's clear the party's loudest voices have no interest in reconciliation or unity, only in deepening divides. When figures such as Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) claim they're skipping due to ''lingering trauma'' from Jan. 6, it's hard not to see this as yet another excuse to perpetuate the left's victimhood narrative.

The bottom line here is that any Democrat's decision to boycott Trump's inauguration isn't about principles—it's about partisan pettiness. Their obsession with vilifying Trump has blinded them to the importance of setting an example for the country. Americans expect their leaders to rise above partisanship, not wallow in it.

Daughters of Malcolm X sue FBI, CIA and NYPD for $100M over 1965 assassination
2024-11-16
[FoxNews] Malcolm X was killed Feb. 21, 1965, at the Audubon Ballroom in Upper Manhattan while speaking to several hundred people

The daughters of slain civil rights leader Malcolm X are suing the FBI, CIA and New York Police Department, accusing all three agencies of having roles in the 1965 assassination of their father.

The $100 million lawsuit, filed Friday in Manhattan federal court, claims the agencies were aware of and failed to stop the killing. Attorney Ben Crump, who represents the daughters and the Malcolm X estate, said the federal government and various agencies all conspired to kill the civil rights leader.

The lawsuit alleges there was a "corrupt, unlawful, and unconstitutional" relationship between law enforcement and "ruthless killers that went unchecked for many years and was actively concealed, condoned, protected, and facilitated by government agents," leading up to the murder of Malcolm X.

"The government's fingerprints are all over the assassination of Malcolm X," Crump said during a news conference. "We believe we have the evidence to prove it."

Malcolm X’s wife, Betty Shabazz, the plaintiffs "and their entire family have suffered the pain of the unknown" for decades, the lawsuit states.

"They did not know who murdered Malcolm X, why he was murdered, the level of NYPD, FBI and CIA orchestration, the identity of the governmental agents who conspired to ensure his demise, or who fraudulently covered-up their role," it states. "The damage caused to the Shabazz family is unimaginable, immense, and irreparable."

Attorneys also cited the killing of other Black leaders, such as the 1969 killing of Black Panther leader Fred Hampton by Chicago Police officers while he was asleep in a Chicago apartment and COINTELPRO, a series of covert FBI operations aimed at discrediting and disrupting political groups perceived as subversive.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the CIA. The FBI and NYPD told Fox News Digital the agencies don't comment on pending litigation.

Malcolm X, born Malcolm Little in Omaha, Nebraska, was killed Feb. 21, 1965, at the Audubon Ballroom in Upper Manhattan while speaking to several hundred people. He was shot 21 times. His wife and daughters were among those in the audience.

Three men were convicted of crimes in the death but two of them were exonerated in 2021 after investigators took a fresh look at the case and concluded some evidence was shaky and authorities had held back some information.

Mustafa Hassan, who said he was a part of Malcolm X’s security detail at the ballroom, said he tried to stop an armed man, later identified as Thomas Hagan, a.k.a. "Talmadge X Hayer," from fleeing.

Police officers intervened to stop Malcolm’s followers from beating Hayer. Hassan claimed he heard officers asking each other, "Is he with us?"

Malcolm X preached a more radical message than his contemporary, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. He gained prominence as a major voice of the Nation of Islam, advocating for Black people to claim their civil rights "by any means necessary."

He eventually split from the militant group, which branded him a traitor.

Rev. Sharpton organizes D.C. rally during Trump's inauguration

[SCRIPPSNEWS] Planning to earn the half mil the Kamala Harris campaign paid him for that brief MSNBC interview he did, trying to get her into the end zone?
civil rights hustler Al Sharpton

announced that he is organizing a rally in Washington on Jan. 20, coinciding with both the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump
...The cad! Twice caught beating wimmin!...
and the Martin Luther King Jr. federal holiday.

The outspoken Trump critic announced the rally on MSNBC earlier this week.

''While Trump supporters will be on one side of Washington watching him take the oath of office, I will be at the nation's capital working to keep the dream alive,'' Sharpton said. ''There has never been a more important time to peacefully organize and mobilize.''

In 2017, the largest anti-Trump rallies in Washington were held one day after his inauguration. Among them was the Women's March, which garnered thousands of protesters. Sharpton was among those who participated at an affiliated rally in New York.

Kamala Harris protested deportation with disgraced celebrity
2024-09-24
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Vice President Kamala Harris in now promising to secure the border, but when she was a senator of California, she was a staunch opponent of deporting illegal immigrants.

Harris joined a group of protesters during a 2018 Los Angeles parade chanting, 'Down down with deportation!' in a video exclusively obtained by the Daily Mail.

Harris was named the grand marshal of the 33rd annual parade, typically reserved to celebrate the legacy of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

But leftist political forces used the occasion to celebrate their own political causes, including the 'Times up!' movement, featuring women who protested sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace.

The topic of immigration enforcement also came up during the parade, prompting Harris to join chants celebrating illegal immigration without consequences.

'Up up with education, down, down with deportation!' she chanted enthusiastically with the group of activists at her side as she clapped her hands and pointed and smiled.

Harris was joined by members of her family including her husband Doug Emhoff and his daughter Ella Emhoff, who filed the occasion on her iPhone.

Other prominent figures who joined her in the parade included a onetime rising television star Jussie Smollet who was featured in the show Empire, a fictional story of a struggle for control of a hip-hop production company.

Smollet, wearing sunglasses and a Times Up t-shirt held a young girl and joined Harris in the throng of protester.

In January 2019, Smollet was found guilty of conducting a hoax hate crime after he falsely claimed he was jumped by two men wearing MAGA hats who poured bleach on him and wrapped a noose around his neck.

Harris famously described the attack as an 'attempted modern day lynching' on social media in a post she has still not deleted even after Smollet's claim has been thoroughly debunked.

Harris followed through with her goal of reducing deportation once she got to the White House.

According to data released by ICE, the Biden administration's actions in office resulted in a 67 percent decline in removals of criminal aliens compared to the Trump administration.

In the first three years of Trump's administration, ICE removed 485,930 illegal aliens with criminal confiscations or pending criminal charges.

The Biden-Harris administration, however, only removed 158,931 criminal aliens or pending charges.

Seattle dog walker and her pet both dragged to death by carjacker
2024-08-22
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Neighbors rushed to help a Seattle dog walker after she was dragged to her death by a convict during a carjacking.

Ruth Dalton, 80, was viciously attacked by Jahmed Haynes, 48, near Martin Luther King Jr. Way East and Harrison Street in the Madison Valley neighborhood just before 10am on Tuesday.

At the time of the violent attack, Dalton - who started her dog walking business 'Grandma's Critter Care' 35 years ago - had several dogs inside her vehicle that she had just walked at a park.

It was there that Haynes, who has eight prior felonies and a history of mental health issues, pushed the elderly woman into the passenger seat, out of the car, and ran her over before driving away in her vehicle.

On Wednesday, SWAT arrested Haynes at his home and found a bloody knife and keys to Dalton's car, the police said. Just five miles away, cops found the lifeless body of her dog Prince and her vehicle.

Not content with murdering Dalton, Haynes had then tortured her beloved dog to death, police say.

Her granddaughter explained that Dalton had started her dog walking business in 1989 to raise money to help Roberts attend a private Christian school.

'She named it Grandma's Critter Care because she would say "Well I'm Melanie's Grandma... and I take care of all the critters",' she wrote.

'And she did in the beginning... it wasn't just dogs and cats! There were birds, reptiles, and even some ferrets!'

Haynes was previously convicted of hit-and-run vehicular homicide in Seattle in 1993, Fox 13 reported.

He remains in jail and is expected to make his first court appearance soon.

Roberts wrote: '8 prior Felony convictions..... he never should have been out on the streets.'

-Great Cultural Revolution
Failure Is for Other People
2024-06-04
[American Spectator] One of the more preposterous aspects of the protests roiling American college campuses is the insistence of the students that they be spared any adverse consequences for their actions. They expect no suspensions, no expulsions, and most of all no harmful impact on their precious internships and job prospects. Civil disobedience without penalty is purely performative, and reduces their protests to a juvenile lark, the latter day equivalent of phone booth stuffing or streaking. Had Martin Luther King Jr. written a "Letter from the Birmingham Hotel" it would have lost its moral impact. Suffering the consequences of his actions was the price of his civil disobedience. Avoiding them today renders the actions of student protesters functionally meaningless.

But spare these kids the usual opprobrium dispensed by their elders. They are in fact acting in accordance with the consequence-free behavior embraced by many of our leading institutions. Students at our top universities endure expensive courses taught by vapid ideologues, tortuous bureaucratic ordeals imposed by incompetent administrators, and witness no penalties for rule-breaking committed for officially approved political causes.

We wish to think that once these young people leave university, the "real world" will impose consequences in the form of a mythic boss who brooks no nonsense. But that is not likely, given their career aspirations. The academic majors of student activists, as noted by the New York Post, are heavy on various "Studies" disciplines, which suggests future employment in the non-profit world, where inadequate performance is difficult to measure and rarely punished. These students avoid the STEM disciplines where failure is obvious and penalized. Non-profits offer "meaningful" employment to activists without the dread prospect of being canned for non-performance. Greg Abbott promises to keep busing illegal immigrants to New York, Chicago
2023-12-11
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] Gov. Greg Abbott
... governor of Texas. Abbott is a Republican. His 2014 Dem opponent, state senatrix Wendy Davis, thought the absolute, most pressing, most important issue facing the state was abortion. Abbott beat the pantyhose off her. His 2018 opponent, Lupe Valdez didn't dwell too heavily on abortion, but she lost too...
is on a steadfast mission to defend the state of Texas from the invasion of illegal immigrants colonists at the U.S. southern border.

Abbott announced that Texas has bussed tens of thousands of illegal immigrants colonists to sanctuary cities, and plans to keep doing so "until Biden secures the border." This comes as the President's administration has allowed a historic number of illegal immigrants colonists to invade the United States, which has desecrated border towns at the hands of Biden's open border policies.

The cities that have been receiving these illegal immigrants colonists include Washington D.C., New York City, reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
, Philadelphia, Denver, and Los Angeles.

Gov. Abbott boasted on X that Texas has sent "over 12,500 to DC, over 25,000 to New York City, over 20,000 to Chicago, over 3,200 to Philadelphia, over 7,400 to Denver, over 1,100 to Los Angeles."

"Our mission provides vital relief to border towns," Abbott said.

Arson attack on Martin Luther King Jr's childhood home in Atlanta is prevented at the last second as off-duty cops arrest woman dousing historic building with gasoline
2023-12-09
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A female military veteran said to have mental health issues was filmed trying to set Martin Luther King Jr's childhood home ablaze.

The unnamed would-be arsonist, 26, was seen pouring the contents of a five gallon gasoline container onto the wooden porch of the historic Atlanta home on Thursday.

In a clip of the incident, a witness twice asks: 'What are you doing?'

The woman signals with her hand for him to leave her alone. 'That's gasoline,' he tells her.

Those witnesses later said that they stepped in when they saw her attempting to ignite a lighter on the lawn, The New York Times reported.

Eyewitness Zach Kempf, 43, who was visiting the federal landmark from Salt Lake City, stepped in after the woman walked to the front yard to get a lighter.

The woman was also seen trying to yank the screen door off the front of the property, which was built in 1895 and was MLK Jr's home until he was 12.

Kempf said the woman had a 'nervous energy' about her, adding: 'But she wasn't aggressive.'

He added 'Obviously, the house is so important, and I’m really glad nothing happened to it. But I feel like now I’m mostly just concerned for her well-being.'

The woman is then said to have relented in her attempts to burn the home and started to walk away. Two cops visiting from New York restrained her, with another part of the video shared showing the woman with a knee on her back.

Shortly after her arrest, the woman's father and sisters arrived at the scene. They said that they had been trying to track her down because they were worried about her and found her through a tracking app on her phone.

The home is located in Atlanta's historic Sweet Auburn section and is undergoing renovations and is closed to the public until 2025.

Congress declared the home a National Historic Site in 1980, and the National Park Service began offering tours of it in 1982.

The home was built in 1895 for a white family and bought by King's maternal grandfather in 1909 for $3,500. King's mother inherited it. King's younger brother, A.D. King, and his family were the last of the King line to live there.
WSBtv adds:
Police said they have arrested 26-year-old Laneisha Shantrice Henderson and charged her with criminal attempt arson and criminal attempt interference with government property.

Police say two tourists from Utah who were in the area saw Henderson pouring gasoline on the home and interrupted her. . . . Video from a witness shared with Channel 2′s Michael Doudna shows a woman dressed in all black pouring gasoline on the windows and in the bushes of the home.
More from MSN - Newsweek:
On Thursday at around 5:45 p.m., officers with the ADP responded to a report of vandalism in progress at 501 Auburn Avenue. That is where they say they found Henderson, who according to a preliminary investigation, had poured gasoline onto the property. She was immediately placed under arrest and transported to the Grady Detention Center for psychological evaluation. Henderson will be transferred to Fulton County Jail once discharged.

An ADP spokesperson had no further comment on Friday to Newsweek, aside from saying the investigation is ongoing and could change as it progresses.

According to records obtained by Newsweek, Henderson is from Brandon, Florida, and is registered to vote, but does not currently belong to any political party in the state.

A police report shows that officers seized a gasoline can and fuel at the scene, along with Henderson's iPhone and a black Chevrolet Cruze.

Local news station WSB-TV says it spoke to Henderson's father, who related that she is a veteran going through a mental health episode. Her father told them they had been trying to find her for two days.
