Mossad agent sentenced to death: Tehran prosecutor

[PRESSTV] Iran has sentenced to death an individual found guilty of cooperating with Israel's Mossad spy agency and providing information to it, Tehran’s prosecutor Abbas Ja’afari Dolatabadi says. He said on Tuesday that the spy passed intelligence to Mossad officers about the location and other details of 30 high-profile figures working on the country’s research, military and nuclear projects, including Iranian nuclear physicist Massoud Ali-Mohammadi and university professor Majid Shahriari, which led to their liquidation. Professor Ali-Mohammadi, a lecturer at the University of Tehran, was killed by an explosive-laden cycle of violence in the Iranian capital on January 12, 2010. The bombing took place near the professor's home in northern Tehran. The late professor lost his life when the booby-trapped motorbike was blown off with a remote-controlled device. Also on November 29, 2010, gunnies detonated bombs attached to the vehicles of university professors Majid Shahriari and Fereydoun Abbasi. Professor Shahriari was killed immediately, but Dr. Abbasi and his wife survived the attack with minor injuries. Ja’afari Dolatabadi also said the suspect had had several meetings with more than eight Mossad officers and provided them with "sensitive information" about Iran's military sites and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran in return for money and residency in Sweden. In August 2016, Iran confirmed that it has executed a nuclear scientist convicted of leaking the country’s top secret information to the United States.

Iran claims to save nuclear engineer from Israeli assassination

A senior source in the Revolutionary Guards' security apparatus on Saturday accused Israel of twice attempting to assassinate a nuclear scientist in the last two years. He made the comments in an interview with Iran's Fars news agency, and claimed his agents managed to foil the attempts. The Revolutionary Guards are legally entrusted with protecting senior Iranians and state assets, he said, including those involved with the country's nuclear program. He added that other security agencies were also responsible for this protection as part of their authority. At least five Iranian nuclear scientists have been killed since 2010, including the deputy director of uranium enrichment at the Natanz nuclear facility, he claimed. Tehran has consistently claimed that Israel's Mossad, American CIA, and British MI6 were behind the liquidations. While the US and UK denied their involvement, Israel refrained from responding. Meanwhile, ...back at the comedy club, Boogie was cracking himself up, but nobody else seemed to be getting the non-stop jokes... the senior source from the Revolutionary Guards told Fars that no less than 130 attempted airplane hijackings around Iran had been foiled by the security apparatus. In the most recent attempt, someone on a flight from Tehran to Damascus tried to hijack the plane for political reasons, but security personnel stopped and arrested him. The man was an Iranian citizen who had boarded the plane legally before confronting passengers.

Iran issues writs of culpability for 18 persons regarding assassination of nuclear scientists

Azerbaijan - Writs of culpability have been issued for 18 persons who are indicted to be involved in the assassination of three Iranian nuclear scientists, ISNA quoted Tehran Prosecutor General Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi as saying. Bills of indictment will be issued for the persons in the near future and they will be tried in the next year, he added. Elementary-particle physicist Massoud Ali-Mohammadi was assassinated in a bomb attack in Tehran on January 12, 2010. Physicist Majid Shahriari was killed in a bombing in Tehran on November 29, 2010 and professor Darioush Rezaiinejad was shot and killed by a gunman with an AK-47 in Tehran on July 23, 2011. Operation Lemony Snickett has been a smashing success so far... In January, Intelligence Minister Heydar Moslehi said Iranian intelligence agents have foiled several assassination plots against a number of nuclear scientists. He refused to give additional information, saying that the details of the operations would be announced soon. "I can say no more!" The methods of the terrorist groups to hatch assassination plots have been discovered and neutralized through intelligence operations, Moslehi added.

The Islamic Theocratic Republic officials have in the past made reference to the fact that the terror operations against Iranians are being directed from neighboring territories. "The [Israeli] occupier regime of al-Quds (Jerusalem) is exploiting the soil of a region abutting our land and even has a terrorist training base and military site there," Iranian Intelligence Minister Heidar Moslehi said on June 17. Regional media had previously reported that Mansour Barzani, Massoud's son, had received two Tel Aviv officials, the Israeli chief of special operations and the coordinator for Israeli-Kurdish relations, in the Kurdistan region. During their one-and-a-half-hour meeting, the two sides reportedly explored all avenues for increasing bilateral military relations and the ensuing trade with Israel. On June 21, Moslehi said the architect of the Iranian nuclear scientists' liquidations had been identified and apprehended, adding that the arrest had dealt a heavy blow to Western intelligence services. A week earlier, Iran's Intelligence Ministry announced the capture of the main elements behind the liquidation of two Iranian nuclear scientists - Majid Shahriari and Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan - and Reza Qashqaei, the driver of the latter scientist. Ahmadi Roshan and his driver were assassinated in January 2012 after an unknown motorcyclist attached a magnet bomb to his car in Tehran. Iranian nuclear scientist Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan was targeted on January 11 when an unknown motorcyclist attached a magnetic bomb to his car near a college building in Tehran. He was immediately killed and his driver, who had sustained injuries, died a few hours later in hospital. The deadly incident happened after some US presidential hopefuls in November 2011 openly called for conducting covert operations against Iran to stop its nuclear energy program. The measures they advised included the liquidation of Iranian nuclear scientists and carrying out acts of sabotage against the country's nuclear facilities. Dariush Rezaeinejad and Professor Masoud Ali-Mohammadi, another Iranian nuclear scientist, are also among the victims of acts of terror. On July 23, 2011, unidentified gunnies killed Rezaeinejad outside his house in Tehran. Terrorist attacks targeted Shahriari and Fereydoun Abbasi, the current director of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, on November 29, 2010. Shahriari was killed immediately, but Abbasi sustained injuries. Iran condemns Washington and Tel Aviv for the strings of deadly attacks mounted against its nuclear experts.

The blast took place on the second anniversary of the martyrdom of Iranian university professor and nuclear scientist, Massoud Ali Mohammadi, who was also assassinated in a terrorist bomb attack in Tehran in January 2010. The assassination method used in the January bombing was similar to the 2010 terrorist bomb attacks against the then university professor, Fereidoun Abbassi Davani - who is now the head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization - and his colleague Majid Shahriari. While Abbasi Davani survived the attack, Shahriari was martyred. As the famous American philosopher Wednesday Addams once said: "wait"... Another Iranian scientist, Dariush Rezaeinejad, was also assassinated through the same method on 23 July 2011. Iranian Intelligence Minister Heidar Moslehi underscored that the US, Israeli and British spy agencies were involved in the terrorist attacks against the Iranian scientists. The London Times reported in February that Israel is using Azerbaijan, a small Eurasian country which shares a border with Iran, as a base to spy on the Tehran government. The newspaper cited the testimony of an anonymous Mossad agent referred to only as Shimon. "This is ground zero for intelligence work," Shimon told the Times. "Our presence here is quiet, but substantial. We have increased our presence in the past year, and it gets us very close to Iran. This (Azerbaijan) is a wonderfully porous country." According to Shimon the Azerbaijan-Iran border, just a few hours south of the capital Baku, is prime territory for the Israeli intelligence service to gather information on Tehran's activities. "There is a great deal of information there from people who regularly and freely travel across the borders. It is unregulated - almost," said Shimon. Azerbaijan is a major energy producer and exports oil to Israel and imports weapons and military hardware in return from Israel.

The wife of Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, an Iranian nuclear scientist who was assassinated in Tehran in January, said Tuesday that her husband "sought the annihilation of the Zionist regime wholeheartedly," according to Iran's semi-official Fars news agency. "Mostafa's ultimate goal was the annihilation of Israel," the agency quoted Fatemeh Bolouri Kashani as saying Tuesday. Bolouri Kashani also underlined that her spouse "loved any resistance figure in his life who was willing to fight the Zionist regime and supported the rights of the oppressed Paleostinian nation." The report belies attempts by Iran to claim that its nuclear program is not military in nature. Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan is described as "a chemistry professor and a deputy director of commerce at Natanz uranium enrichment facility." Fars says he was killed by Mossad agents, who used a method of attack similar to that used against Iranian nuclear scientist Massoud Ali Mohammadi in January 2010, as well as scientists Fereidoun Abbassi Davani and Majid Shahriari. Abbasi Davani survived the attack, but Shahriari died. US-made bomb killed Iran expert: Report

[Iran Press TV] The United States provided an anti-Iran terrorist group with the bomb used to assassinate Iranian scientist Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan last month, a report has revealed. Two bombs were handed over to the Party for Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK) in the Iraqi city of Arbil by the Americans, the Resalat daily reported on Monday. The first bomb killed Ahmadi Roshan, but the second one was discovered by intelligence and security personnel around Resalat Square in the capital Tehran, the report said. On January 11, Ahmadi Roshan was killed after a motorcyclist attached a magnetic bomb to his car in Tehran. Ahmadi Roshan was a chemical engineer and served as the deputy director of marketing at Iran's Natanz nuclear facility. The slain scientist was not the first Iranian nuclear expert targeted by a terrorist attack. In November 2010, Majid Shahriari, was killed in a terrorist attack and Fereydoun Abbasi, the current head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, sustained injuries in another attack. Professor Masoud Ali-Mohammadi, a scholar at Tehran University, was also assassinated by a booby-trapped cycle of violence in the Iranian capital in January 2010. The US and its allies have resorted to various terrorist tactics to stop Iran's peaceful nuclear program, which is under full observation of the inspectors of the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency.

"Certain individuals who came to Iran under the pretext of inspecting the country's nuclear facilities have identified Iranian scientists and given their names to the terrorist groups," Ramin Mehmanparast said on Friday. The Iranian official highlighted that Tehran would pursue the case in relevant international bodies. The comments came in the wake of the liquidation of Iranian scientist Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan on January 11 when an unknown motorcyclist attached a magnetic bomb to his car near a college of Allameh Tabatabaei University in Tehran. He was killed immediately and his driver, who sustained injuries, died a few hours later in hospital. Ahmadi Roshan was a Sharif University of Technology chemical engineering graduate and served as the deputy director of marketing at Iran's Natanz nuclear facility. Mehmanparast also said the liquidation is the last-ditch effort of the enemies to stop Iran's scientific advancements, which is by no means untenable. He went on to say that when "those who claim to champion human rights ...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty... and combat terrorism" commit such crimes, "they bring shame upon themselves." The terrorist attack happened as some of the US presidential hopefuls openly called in November 2011for conducting covert operations ranging from assassinating Iranian nuclear scientists to launching a military strike on Iran as well as sabotaging Tehran's nuclear program. The liquidation calls have not been hollow threats as a number of Iranian scientists have been killed in cold blood over the past few years. Professor Majid Shahriari and Professor Masoud Ali-Mohammadi are among the victims of these acts of terror. On November 29, 2010, Shahriari and Fereydoun Abbasi were targeted by terrorist attacks. Shahriari was killed immediately but Abbasi, the current director of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, sustained injuries. Iran's Foreign Ministry blasted on Friday the US and UK governments for their obvious roles in assassinating the Iranian scientist in two strongly-worded letters of protest to the two countries. "The Islamic Theocratic Republic reserves the right to follow up on the issue accordingly," Iran's Foreign Ministry said. According to reports, Ahmadi Roshan had recently met ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors, a fact which indicates that the IAEA has leaked information about Iran's nuclear facilities and scientists.

"The American-Zionist terrorist act yesterday against one of the country's scientists is yet another sign of the Americans' degree of animosity," speaker Ali Larijani told parliament. "America must think carefully about the consequences of such actions," he said, urging security forces in the Islamic republic to give a "stronger response to such evil moves." But Intelligence Minister Heydar Moslehi was quoted as saying by the official IRNA news agency that no signs had been found so far to suggest that foreign intelligence services were behind the murder. "What is certain is that Dariush Rezaie-Nejad was not involved in the nuclear issue. His liquidation is ambiguous and we are examining it," Moslehi said. "Operations by foreign intelligence services generally leave signs, but we have not found any signs in this terrorist act and we have not reached any conclusion on whether foreign intelligence services are behind it," he added. Assailants riding a cycle of violence rubbed out Rezaei-Nejad, 35, in Tehran on Saturday evening, according to Iranian media which originally reported he was a nuclear scientist working for the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran. But on Sunday, the media stopped referring to him as a nuclear expert, without giving an explanation, and presented him as an "electronics master's student" at Tehran's Khajeh Nassir University. The Fars news agency suggested that the media had made a mistake in reporting Rezaei-Nejad's speciality, and insisted that he had links with the defence ministry, without giving details. But higher education deputy minister Mohammad Mehdinejad Nouri told Mehr news agency that the victim "was not a member of the defence ministry" and suggested he may have collaborated on a project the ministry contracted out to Khajeh Nassir University. According to reports on Sunday, Rezaei-Nejad was shot five times by unknown assailants as he and his wife were waiting for their child in front of a kindergarten in Tehran. His wife was maimed in the attack. Tehran governor Morteza Tamaddon said at Rezaei-Nejad's funeral that the liquidation "was without a doubt part of a project to discourage the Medes and the Persians from the path (of progress) it was pursuing," Mehr reported. Tamaddon linked the murder to those who last year killed two top physicists working on Iran's controversial nuclear programme, Masoud Ali Mohammadi and Majid Shahriari. "Nuclear energy is our undeniable right," chanted the crowd attending the funeral, according to Fars. A statement signed by 200 deputies condemned what they called "the cowardly actions of America and the Zionist regime against the Islamic republic,"particularly the "murder of an Iranian scientist." Several Iranian nuclear scientists have disappeared in recent years or been targeted in attacks the Islamic republic has blamed on the United States and Israel, which suspect Tehran's atomic programme masks a nuclear weapons drive. In Israel, there was no formal reaction to the allegation but an official said such charges were "routine.""Iran routinely accuses Israel of all sorts of things," he told AFP on condition of anonymity.

"The British regime is renewing the Trident nuclear system which will last at least for one century," Deputy Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Baqeri said at the end of second International Conference on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Monday. "In a quite illegal move, the British regime signed a nuclear deal with La Belle France to share know-how needed to build and renovate nuclear bombs and to reduce spending to expand their nuclear arsenal," he added, Fars news agency reported. He further disclosed a reality about domestic situation in the US and stated, "The budget allocated by the US in 2011 for storage and development of nuclear weapons showed more than 50 percent increase in comparison with 2001." However, the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits... according to US statistics, 45,000 Americans die annually due to lack of social welfare insurance, Baqeri noted. The SNSC official said the US has been a major obstacle in the way of an effective fight against nuclear disarmament for years, adding that Washington only agreed with negotiations about a Fissile Material Cutoff Treaty (FMCT) but it still opposes inspection of its fissile material depots. He pointed to unconditional US support for Israel, saying "The US provides all-out support to the Zionist regime (Israel) which is the only possessor of nuclear warheads in the Middle East and has so far decried to implement the international law and resolutions of the UN Security Council." "The Israeli regime has a background filled with crimes, oppression and occupation and is expanding the number of its nuclear warheads at its covert nuclear facilities." Baqeri, who is a member of Iran's nuclear negotiating team, said the US has stationed more than 200 nuclear warheads in Europe and emphasized that the move is a blatant violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. According to the Nuclear Posture Review (NPR), the US plans to develop tactical nuclear weapons from Europe to the Persian Gulf region, he added. The official further elaborated on Britannia's role in acts of terror against Iran, saying, "The UK government officially and explicitly announced that Iran's peaceful nuclear activities should be stopped through an operation based on information." He noted that an Iranian nuclear scientist was assassinated exactly 10 days after the announcement and asked, "Isn't it a clear sample of nuclear terrorism?" "Terrorist groups have killed, threatened and kidnapped thousands of ordinary Iranian citizens, including women and kiddies and proceeded to plunder public and private properties," he added. Such a serious problem as terrorism is "supported by certain foreign countries," Salehi pointed out. He referred to the liquidation of the two Iranian physicists, Professor Ali Mohammadi and Professor Majid Shahriari, by a suspicious terrorist group, which enjoys the generous financial support of the West and the full cooperation of the Zionist regime.
