Lawmaker who assisted IDF as civilian volunteer to lead House foreign affairs panel |
2024-12-11 |
One of the good guys. [IsraelTimes] GOP’s Brian Mast has been a pugnacious defender of Israel in Congress, wore an Israeli uniform to the US Capitol in show of support after Oct. 7The US House of Representatives elected Florida Representative Brian Mast, a zealous pro-Israel Republican who has volunteered with a group that assists the Israeli army, to chair the powerful House Foreign Affairs Committee. Mast bested three other contenders to succeed Texas Representative Michael McCaul, who is term-limited. Insiders say that President-elect Donald Trump ...His ancestors didn't own any slaves... lobbied the Republican Steering Committee, which names committee chairs, to choose Mast. "I have no doubt Congressman Mast — a distinguished combat veteran and experienced member of this committee — will serve the nation well in this role, as he sacrificed in Afghanistan," McCaul said in a statement. Mast, 44, first endorsed Trump in 2016, when Mast himself was first running for Congress, and has been one of his most loyal defenders in the body, taking a prominent role in this year’s campaign. Mast is also aligned with Trump’s more isolationist bent, opposing US support for Ukraine in its war against Russia. McCaul and the three other contenders, Representatives Joe Wilson of South Carolina, Anne Wagner of Missouri and Darrell Issa of Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, are more aligned with traditional Republican internationalist principles. Mast, a Christian and military veteran who lost both legs on duty in Afghanistan in 2010, volunteered in 2015 with Sar-El, a group that places civilians from abroad in support positions with the Israeli army. He has said the experience helped shape him. A dedicated page on his congressional website describes the experience. "I learned at the Shabbat tables of my hosts just how much each family truly desires peace between every neighbor of Israel, regardless of religion or history," he said. "We cannot let Israel face its enemies alone." Mast wore his Israeli army uniform to Congress in the days after October 7, 2023, when Hamas ![]() massacred some 1,200 people inside Israel and took 251 hostage. Mast’s pro-Israel posture has often been pugnacious. California Representative Sara Jacobs, a Jewish Democrat, last year sought to censure Mast for suggesting that there were no innocent Paleostinian civilians in the war Israel was waging against Hamas in the Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppressionand disproportionate response... Strip. "I would encourage the other side to not so lightly throw around the idea of innocent Paleostinian civilians, as is frequently said," Mast said at the time. "I don’t think we would so lightly throw around the term innocent Nazi civilians during World War II." |

He spoke about the enemy’s local offensive actions in the Kupyansky, Limansky, Bakhmutsky, Avdeevsky and Maryinsky directions. At the same time, the Forces security and defense inflict significant losses on the enemy in manpower and equipment, and also deplete him along the entire front line. Also shared with partners the results of our research into the effectiveness of the use of certain types of weapons." 21:54 The Russian army attacked Toretsk, Donetsk region, for the second time in a day. Lubinets clarified that Russian representatives visited Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Russian Federation, and Ukrainian representatives visited Russian prisoners of war in Ukraine. “The staff of our Office talked with the Russians and were once again convinced that our country adheres to the Geneva Conventions. Every prisoner of war is well-fed, provided with hygiene products, has the right to work, and has the opportunity to go for walks. As for medical care, it is also provided upon request prisoners of war. Also, everyone was given humanitarian packages with things and food. The Russians, in turn, talked with our defenders. Last fall, Boeing, the main contractor for GLSDB, first approached Washington with a proposal to buy and deliver this small-diameter bomb to Ukraine. The production required materials, the contract was signed in March. The Pentagon did not buy this missile for itself. Now sources familiar with the current timeline say the company will ship to the US in late December, followed by several months of testing before shipping to Ukraine, Reuters adds. 19:45 All political forces of the Verkhovna Rada signed a memorandum on holding the next elections only after the end of martial law. Both presidential and parliamentary elections must be held no earlier than six months after the end of martial law. 19:16 The Netherlands will provide Ukraine with an additional aid package worth 2.5 billion euros in 2024, said the country’s Foreign Minister Hanke Bruins Slot. 19:03 On December 12, the European Commission will publish the final draft plan for the use of Russian assets frozen in the EU in favor of Ukraine, Bloomberg writes. The European Commission's plan provides for the introduction of a tax on excess income from the use of frozen assets. 18:59 The National Police clarified that as a result of today’s shelling of Berislav, Kherson region, two policemen were wounded. 18:55 Zelensky visited a metro school in Kharkov at the University of the Kharkov metro station, the President’s Office reported. He visited classes and awarded teachers in the region. At the University station, 831 children study from 40 classes, which are assigned to 11 educational institutions. Premises for teaching children are located at five stations of the Kharkov metro: University, Peremoga, Tractor Plant, Metrostroiteley and Academician Pavlov. 105 classes have been formed, with 2,094 students in grades 1-11 studying. According to them, the enemy managed to assemble a “conditionally working” model of a naval drone from the remains of several devices found at the site of the attacks. 17:29 The Russians shelled Tyaginka, Kherson region, three people were injured, the OVA reported. 17:04 EU countries have agreed on a package of financial support for Ukraine worth 50 billion euros for the next four years , SkyNews writes. European Budget Commissioner Johannes Hann said that the aid package is not disputed by any EU country. 17:00 The new Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, received the Russian ambassador in Bratislava and said that Slovakia should prepare for the period after the end of the war in Ukraine and the “standardization of relations” with Russia. 16:56 The Russians fired a mortar at a residential area in Toretsk, Donetsk region. Deputy Treasury Secretary for Counterterrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian Nelson, during a visit to Ankara, told representatives of the Turkish authorities that they are provoking violence in the Middle East and Europe by actively helping Hamas and Russian militants violate Western sanctions. US officials have warned that Turkish companies and individuals risk sanctions if they continue to help Russia evade sanctions. 16:10 Hungary will not support the decision to begin negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU and the EU’s allocation of 50 billion euros to it until 2027, said the head of Orban’s office, Gergely Gulyas. 15:51 North Korea sent about 2,000 containers with weapons to Russia, writes Reuters. The containers could contain shells and short-range missiles. They were loaded onto Russian ships in the port of the North Korean free economic zone of Rason, which has not operated since 2018. 15:32 The Russian army attacked Berislav, Kherson region, with a drone, two people were wounded, OVA reported. 15:29 Russian media write that the cause of the fire in a freight train in the Severomuysk tunnel was allegedly caused by a “short circuit in the cable network.” A freight train of 50 cars began to enter a tunnel near the Okushikan station in Buryatia when the driver heard a “pop.” A fire started in one of the carriages. As a result, three tank cars were damaged, one of them burned out completely. Currently, recovery and firefighting trains are operating in the tunnel. According to her, Zelenskaya, like her husband, has become “a global symbol of perseverance.” 14:09 The number of deaths as a result of enemy shelling of the village of Sadovoye, Kherson community, has increased to three, the OVA reported. 13:25 The growth of social tension and the deterioration of the social situation in the Russian Federation is stated by Russian officials and representatives of the special services themselves, including in closed reports to the country’s top leadership, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense reports. According to Ukrainian military intelligence, the increase in protest activity of the Russian population is expressed by increasingly high dissatisfaction with the war against Ukraine. In addition, there is a deterioration in the crime situation within the Russian Federation. The increase in crime in the regions is caused by the loss of stable sources of income, difficulties in finding employment and alcoholism of the population. Also increasing social tension is affected by rising prices. 13:11 Zelensky said that he visited the forward command post of the defenders of Kupyansk. 12:59 As a result of the Ukrainian strike on the Russian headquarters in occupied Tokmak, Zaporozhye region, which they placed in a kindergarten, at least 14 Russian military personnel were eliminated, including many officers, said the mayor of Melitopol Ivan Fedorov. According to him, on November 29, explosions also continued in Tokmak - in those places in the vicinity of the city where the enemy concentrates military equipment and manpower. 12:36 Zelensky said at a meeting with students in Nikolaev that it would be more difficult for Ukraine to return Donbass than Crimea, since local residents fought against the Ukrainian Armed Forces: “It may happen that we return the territories before these people. If, for example, we take Donbass, people have been living there for ten years, but not there. They live in another dimension. I think it will be more difficult with Donbass. I believe that the territories are returning with people. If people don’t want it, it will be very, very difficult. I think it will be very difficult to return Donbass mentally more difficult, because there was a contact line with the occupation for ten years and there were constant hostilities. There was a lot of separatism on the other side, they fought. This means that in this or that family in Donbass, not everyone returned. Or some kind of history returned. Relationships are clear. And even now, when the Russian Federation is fighting and fighting against us, the toughest ones are the separatists. They are standing. The Russians are fleeing, but these are standing. But there were no hostilities in Crimea." The President believes that now “the main thing for Ukraine is to preserve us, our integrity,” and the situation in the occupied territories may change with the change of generations. 12:32 The Russians fired artillery at the village of Sadovoye, Kherson region, one person was killed, the OVA reported. In addition, one person was injured as a result of an enemy attack on the Korabel microdistrict of Kherson. 11:41 A bill has been submitted to the US Congress to seize the assets of sanctioned Russian oligarchs and transfer them to the restoration of Ukraine. The document was introduced by both Democrats and Republicans from both houses of parliament: Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (Democrat) and Lindsey Graham (Republican), along with members of the House of Representatives Joe Wilson (Republican) and Steve Cohen (Democrat). The bill's description says it will "allow the Department of Justice to more quickly confiscate high-value assets belonging to sanctioned Russian oligarchs through existing administrative forfeiture procedures and transfer the proceeds from those assets to Ukraine." In particular, we are talking about private jets, yachts and other expensive assets. 11:37 Ukrainian media report, citing sources, about a new special operation of the SBU: tonight there was an explosion on the Baikal-Amur Mainline, namely in the Severomuisky tunnel named after. Bessolovo, which is located in Buryatia. This is the only full-fledged railway route between Russia and China, and now this route, used by the Russian Federation for military supplies, is paralyzed. According to media reports, four explosive devices went off while the freight train was moving, and the FSB is now on the scene. In turn, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense reported that in the last days of November, two objects burned down on important sections of the Russian railway in the Moscow region: a relay cabinet near the settlement of Lazenki, Novoperedelkinsky district, and a relay cabinet near the settlement of Artemyevo, Domodedovo urban district. As a result of “a special event carried out jointly with the resistance movement,” train traffic in these areas was paralyzed, the Main Intelligence Directorate reports. 11:10 At the site of shelling of a residential building in Novogrodovka, Donetsk region, the body of the deceased was pulled out from under the rubble. As of 10:00, there are probably four people under the rubble, one of them a child. The search and rescue operation continues, said Igor Moroz, head of the OSA. 10:58 Putin will hold a direct line and an annual large press conference on December 14, Peskov said. 10:27 Ukraine produces about 50 thousand FPV drones every month, while Russia produces six times more, Forbes writes. In total, there are about 200 UAV manufacturers in Ukraine, which provide only 10-15% of the total needs of the army. At the same time, Ukrainian manufacturers lack 2,000 engineers, and to reach the level of Russia, the industry needs 6,000 engineers. 09:51 In the Odessa region, during a night attack, a drone hit an unused building, said Oleg Kiper, head of the OVA. The fire was quickly extinguished by rescuers; no people were injured. 09:22 At night, the Russian army attacked Daryevka, Kherson region, four local residents were injured, OVA reports. About ten residential buildings, a kindergarten and a hospital were damaged. Over the previous 24 hours, one person was killed and five were injured as a result of Russian shelling in the region. 08:47 As a result of the night shelling of settlements in the Pokrovsky district of the Donetsk region, ten people were injured, including four children. Five more people are being searched under the rubble, the National Police said. The enemy fired six S-300 missiles at Pokrovsk, Novogrodovka and Mirnograd. Apartment and private buildings, the police department, and cars were damaged. 08:35 The General Staff announced the estimated losses of the Russian Federation as of the morning of November 30:
08:09 In the Khmelnytsky region, during a night attack, debris from downed drones fell on the territory of a former plant in the Shepetovsky district, no people were injured, the OVA reported. The IAEA team monitoring the situation at the Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant reported that, while in its premises, it heard several explosions in the immediate vicinity last night for 20 minutes. 07:58 At night, air defense destroyed 14 of 20 Shahed attack UAVs , which Russia attacked from two directions - Crimea and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, the Air Force command reported. Air defense operated in the southern, eastern and central regions of Ukraine. In addition, the Russians attacked the Donetsk region with eight S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles. 07:41 Over the past 24 hours, 101 military clashes took place at the front, the General Staff reported in its morning report . In particular, the Defense Forces repelled 24 enemy attacks in the Limansky direction (in the Serebryansky forestry areas of the Luhansk region and east of Ternov, Yampolevka, Torskoye, Donetsk region) and 22 attacks in Avdeevsky (near Stepnoy, Novokalinovo, east of Novobakhmutovka, Avdeevka, south of Tonenkoye, Severny, Pervomaisky, Donetsk region). In the Kupyansk direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled enemy attacks near Sinkovka, Petropavlovka in the Kharkov region and Stelmakhovka in the Lugansk region; on Bakhmutsky - near Ivanovsky and Andreevka, Donetsk region; on Maryinsky - in the Krasnohorivka and Novomikhailovka districts of the Donetsk region; on Shakhtarsky - south of Prechistovka, Donetsk region; in Zaporozhye - in the Rabotino area and north-west of Verbovoy, Zaporozhye region. At the same time, the Defense Forces continue the offensive operation in the Melitopol direction, assault operations south of Bakhmut, Donetsk region, and in the Kherson direction they hold occupied positions on the left bank of the Dnieper. 04:40 In Russian Bryansk, drones attacked a warehouse with Shahed drones, which in Russia are called Geran-2, local publics report. According to them, city residents heard explosions in the area of the television center. Russian authorities did not comment on the explosions. 00:33 In Crimea, Russian TV channels broadcast videos with appeals from Zelensky , Zaluzhny and Budanov, local publics report. The Ukrainian president’s address was also supplemented by footage of Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strikes on Russian positions and on Russian ships in the Black Sea. Political Pundit Mark Simone Admits Team Bush and Karl Rove are Group Behind Ron DeSantis Effort…. |
2023-03-28 |
[theconservativetreehouse] Put a fork in the opposition denials to what was increasingly obvious; it’s over. Last summer we saw the fingerprints of the professional republican apparatus all over the construct that was creating the Ron DeSantis 2024 effort. The data was all going in one direction, all of the constructs were identical to the Karl Rove playbook with the single addition of the Republican Governor’s Association as a participant. As the months moved forward the Rovian elements became more and more clear. The DeSantis supporters tried to deny it, but the truth of the issue is just too obvious. Now, insider republican political pundit Mark Simone admits that Team Bush and Karl Rove are the specific organizers of the DeSantis 2024 effort. Appearing on Fox Business, Larry Kudlow asks directly, "who is behind the DeSantis campaign?" Simone admits, "yeah, it’s Karl Rove — Karl Rove has been advising DeSantis, that’s why he’s been getting a little bit better every week." Thanks to user ’Escalated Entrophy" who cut the clip for me after I found it. Additionally, CTH has also heard from a new source that has been hired to do part of the DeSantis 2024 campaign operation. Anticipate a formal 2024 campaign announcement within the next two weeks. The RdS team goal is not for DeSantis to win, the goal is to stop Trump from winning. Everything is exactly what I have been saying it was since last August. CTH was 100% correct. Legislation to withdraw US troops from NE Syria downed on 321-103 vote |
2023-03-10 |
[NPASyria] As the enduring defeat of the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... (ISIS) is yet to be reached, US House of Representatives voted down on Wednesday a legislation to withdraw some of 900 US troops from northeast Syria. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla. proposed the resolution to withdraw the troops from northeast Syria within 180 days for voting, but opponents of the resolution warned that the withdrawal may grant ISIS a chance to reorganize itself and put the US and its allies at risk. The resolution, which was introduced after four service members were maimed in a raid in northeast Syria on Feb. 17, failed in a 103-321 vote that split both parties. Republicans opposed it in a 47-171 vote, and Democrats rejected it in 56-150. Then the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a blurb, in a partnered helicopter raid with the Syrian Democratic Forcers (SDF) a senior ISIS leader "Hamza al-Homsi" was killed and "a kaboom on target resulted in four U.S. service members and one working dog maimed." Gaetz argued that he did not believe that the 900 US troops deployed in "this hellscape" [Syria] is "what stands between a caliphate and not a caliphate." Mike McCaul of R-Texas, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman, said, "If we withdraw our troops from Syria now, we could see a resurgence of ISIS or another legal successor in short time." McCaul added that withdrawing the US troops from Syria "must be based on the total defeat of ISIS." Gregory Meeks of New York, the ranking Democratic member of the committee, said that though he is against keeping an indefinite US military presence in Syria, "this measure forces a premature end to our mission at a critical time for our efforts." Rep. Joe Wilson agreed with Meeks, saying that the withdrawal means a "much larger, more complex problem... we don’t need to repeat 9/11." In 2019, following a call with ![]() with the US then President Donald Trump ...Oh, noze! Not him!... on October 6, trump stunned the US Congressmen, national security aides and his allies alike, by announcing the withdrawal of the 2000 US troops from Syria. The first US military convoy left northeastern Syria to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) on October 21, prompting Kurdish officials to accuse the US administration of failing to keep its promises regarding the security mechanism in protecting northern Syria from any While in February 2020, Trump had retracted his decision and agreed to keep a small US military presence in Syria to maintain the pressure on ISIS. "Either we fight and defeat them [ISIS] in Syria, or we’ll fight them in the streets of our nation," said Rep. Ryan Zinke, R-Mont. On March 4, Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army Gen, paid a surprise visit to evaluate the mission against the ISIS and review protection measures for US troops. |

US Lawmakers Pressure Biden to Enforce Sanctions on Assad |
2021-05-29 |
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] House Republicans have accused US President Joe The Big GuyBiden ![]() ’s administration of failing to enforce sanctions on Syria as part of a bid to appease Iran. "We are concerned that your administration is failing to enforce US sanctions law on one of the worst human rights One man's rights are another man's existential threat. violators in the world, who has killed half a million people, as a concession to Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneouslytaking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militiasto extend the regime's influence. The word Iranis a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGCis the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA).The term Supreme Guideis a the modern version form of either Duceor Führeror maybe both. They hate to re-enter the failed Iran nuclear deal," the politicians wrote. In a letter sent to State and Treasury Secretaries Antony Blinken and Janet Yellen, they expressed deep concern that after months of being in office, the administration has refused to impose any sanctions. They further wondered why the administration has not exercised its sanctions authority under the Caesar Act, which was approved by the Congress in late 2019. "Is the administration refusing to enforce sanctions on one of the world’s worst human rights violators, Bashir al-Assad, as a concession to the Iranians as part of rejoining the JCPOA?" they asked. The politicians, Bryan Steil, Jim Banks and Joe Wilson, are members of the Republican Study Committee, the House’s largest conservative caucus, which opposes the administration’s efforts to provide Iran with massive sanctions relief. "After more than 100 days in office, the Biden administration has refused to impose any sanctions under the Caesar Act. Sanctions enforcement against these threats must be a top priority," the letter read. "The Iran Deal sold out the Syrian people the first time around, and I fear that history is repeating itself," Wilson wrote. "Iran has repeatedly violated congressionally approved US sanctions on Syria by sending shiploads of crude oil to Assad. This also violates sanctions on Iran aimed at stymieing its oil trade and cutting off a source of revenue for the hardline regime." Republican foreign policy leaders are investigating the matter, the letter stressed, noting that the investigation is one of several active probes being led by the Committee. The congressmen said they are "committed to investigating and uncovering any sanctions relief provided to Iran and its allies as part of your (administration’s) efforts to re-enter the Iran nuclear deal". |

Valerie Plame Accepts More Campaign Donations From Prominent Holocaust Denier |
2020-02-11 |
Plame accepted three contributions from Holocaust denier Pete McCloskey, a former California congressman who referenced the "so-called Holocaust" during a May 2000 speech to a historically anti-Semitic organization. "Earlier here today I listened to speeches about the courage of men in France, Britain, Germany, and New Zealand who have spoken out against the commonly accepted concept of what occurred during the Second World War in the so-called Holocaust," McCloskey said in his address to the Institute for Historical Review (IHR). He also praised IHR, a prominent actor in the Holocaust denial movement with links to neo-Nazi organizations, by saying he "respect[s]" the "thesis of this organization." Plame has now accepted eight donations from McCloskey and one from his wife, totaling more than $1,200. The questionable source of campaign funds comes as Plame attempts to downplay another anti-Semitism scandal. The candidate shared at least nine anti-Semitic articles from the Unz Review, a self-described "alternative media selection" known for spreading Holocaust denial arguments on social media platforms and funding white supremacist organizations. She issued an apology for the posts in May 2019 but has continued to cash checks from McCloskey. The Plame campaign did not respond to a request for comment. Plame is running to represent New Mexico's Third Congressional District and has been a magnet for large campaign contributions. The former CIA operative, whose life story was turned into a Sean Penn film, raised nearly $430,000 in the fourth quarter. In addition to Holocaust deniers, Plame has proven popular among the Democratic elite, receiving fourth-quarter contributions from Hollywood actors Bryan Cranston and John Goodman and liberal megadonors Susie Tompkins Buell and Joshua Bekenstein. Democrat and former spy Valerie Plame accused of lying about membership in Jewish temple | |||||

![]() [Wash Examiner] A member of a Jewish temple in New Mexico says Valerie Plame, a former CIA officer and a Democratic candidate for a New Mexico congressional seat, lied about her membership.
In 2017, Plame was forced to apologize after sharing on Twitter an anti-Semitic article from the UNZ Review entitled, "America's Jews Are Driving America's Wars." The article stated that Jews "own the media," that they should wear labels while on national television, and that their beliefs were as dangerous as "a bottle of rat poison." Her initial response was: "First of all, calm down. Re-tweets don't imply endorsement. Yes, very provocative, but thoughtful. Many neocon hawks ARE Jewish." She later added: "OK folks, look, I messed up. I skimmed this piece, zeroed in on the neocon criticism, and shared it without seeing and considering the rest." She apologized and quit the board of the Ploughshares Fund, which provides grants for projects aimed at preventing the spread of nuclear weapons. But, in the space of three years, she had posted nine UNZ articles, including one titled, "Why I Still Dislike Israel," and another about "Dancing Israelis" on 9/11.

2 years after tweeting anti-Semitic screed, Valerie Plame now attends synagogue |
2019-12-28 |
![]() Valerie Plame, the outed CIA agent at the center of a George W. Bush administration scandal, said she is now the member of a synagogue in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The revelation comes as Plame is running for Congress as a Democrat, and two years after her tweet of an anti-Semitic article led to her apology and professional repercussions. Plame told Tal Schneider, a political reporter for Globes, an Israeli business daily, that her interest in Judaism stemmed from her discovery that her great-grandfather was a rabbi who fled Ukraine at the turn of the last century. “I’ve always been drawn to that aspect of my Jewish heritage,” Plame said in tweets with videos that Schneider posted on Friday, “so it led me to Temple Beth Shalom in Santa Fe.” Plame said she was especially attracted to the temple’s social justice initiatives, and that she is a member. Schneider confirmed with members of the local Jewish community that Plame had attended some services. Plame had mentioned her Jewish background when she launched her congressional bid in September but did not say she identified in any way as Jewish. Figures in the Bush administration outed Plame after her then-husband, retired diplomat Joseph Wilson, revealed in the lead-up to the Iraq War that on a Bush administration mission he had debunked one of the major pieces of evidence that Saddam Hussein was seeking weapons of mass destruction. In 2017, Plame apologized for retweeting an article on a white supremacist website that claimed Jews were behind a push for war between Iran and the United States. She apologized again in her interview with Schneider. The tweet led Plame to resign from the board of Ploughshares Fund, an influential anti-war foundation. |

Joe Wilson, ambassador who opposed Iraq War, dead at 69 |
2019-09-28 |
Divorced from his anti-semitic lying wife [NY Post] Former Ambassador Joe Wilson ‐ who found himself and his then-wife Valerie Plame in the middle of a political firestorm when he contradicted President George W. Bush's rationale for the 2003 invasion of Iraq ‐ has died at the age of 69. Plame, a former CIA operative who was outed in apparent revenge after Wilson blew the whistle on Bush, said the cause was organ failure. Wilson and Plame ended their marriage in 2017. A veteran, 23-year diplomat, Wilson had been assigned by the CIA as a private citizen to go to Niger in 2003 and investigate reports that Iraq had been sold uranium yellowcake by the African country in the 1990s. Wilson found nothing ‐ and said as much in a New York Times op-ed headlined, "What I Didn't Find in Africa" in July 2003. "If my information was deemed inaccurate, I understand (though I would be very interested to know why)," he wrote in the column. "If, however, the information was ignored because it did not fit certain preconceptions about Iraq, then a legitimate argument can be made that we went to war under false pretenses." Wilson's words contradicted Bush's contention in his January 2003 State of the Union that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. |
