Dem Rep. Nadler pictured with head down, eyes closed during testimony from mothers of migrant crime victims |
2024-09-12 |
Always a good time to take a nap when you don't give a fcuk.![]() Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., is under fire after he appeared to close his eyes and lower his head during congressional testimony on the impacts of migrant crime on victims' families Tuesday – prompting criticism that leading Democrats are not taking the issue seriously and have disrespected those in mourning. Reps. Chip Roy, R-Texas, and Dan Bishop, R-N.C., skewered the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee after the incident had people in the audience fuming. The photo, with a box of tissues in the foreground, also shows an aide next to Nadler, looking at his cellphone as mothers who lost their daughters to suspected foreign rapists and killers shared their traumatic stories of loss with the committee. "One of the ladies that came with me, she took a picture of the Democrats on the other side as we were speaking and telling our stories, us, the mothers, mothers crying, telling our stories – and one of them is sleeping, and the other one's on his phone," said Patty Morin, whose daughter Rachel was brutally raped and murdered after police say an illegal immigrant attacked her on a jogging trail near her home in Maryland. Cathie Groenewold, a church friend of Morin's who took the photo, said she found Nadler's demeanor deeply offensive. "I was astounded at the careless attitude of Jerry Nadler and… the man sitting to his right," she told Fox News Digital. "They are pouring out their hearts, these women, who have lost their children to fentanyl and the most gruesome murders you could imagine, and they don’t have the common decency to sit up and give them their undivided attention." Nadler and other Democrats appeared to treat the hearing as a partisan "stunt," she said. "I'm sorry, but these women are drawing attention to a serious issue," she said. "It's not a stunt, and they weren't coerced into coming." Morin's 37-year-old daughter was a mother of five and small business owner. Her alleged killer is a 23-year-old from El Salvador named Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, who is also suspected of killing another woman in his home country and sexually assaulting a woman and her 9-year-old daughter in a Los Angeles home invasion. At the start of the hearing, the longtime New York congressman began by sharing his condolences with the witnesses. "I cannot imagine how difficult this loss has been for you," he said. Then he pivoted to calling the proceedings "one more partisan hearing designed to divide us and to score political points before an election." Among the eight witnesses, four lost their children in connection with the border crisis. Nadler, in primary debate, calls for more federal funds for NYPD; denies past support for police defunding |

[FoxNews] Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., said Tuesday night that he supports more federal funds for the New York Police Department, denying that this is inconsistent with a position he took two years ago at the height of the "defund the police" movement. In a primary debate that pitted the House Judiciary Committee chair against House Oversight Committee chair Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., and progressive Suraj Patel, a moderator confronted Nadler over a 2020 interview he gave with a local publication in which he appeared to support defunding. Nadler insisted that is not what happened. "I did not say I favored defunding," Nadler said. "I said that I thought some resources should be shifted from the police to mental health and social services, as they were … because the cops can’t do everything, you need social services and mental health services in order to decrease crime too." 'I impeached Bush twice': Bumbling Nadler stumbles through debate opening |
2022-08-04 |
[NYPOST] Longshot challenger Suraj Patel came out swinging in the Democratic primary debate for the race to represent Manhattan’s Upper West and Upper East sides, saying it’s time to retire septuagenarian Reps. Jerrold Nadler and Carolyn Maloney. The call for new blood from the 38-year-old came right after Nadler stumbled badly through his own opening statement. "It’s 2022. It’s time to turn the page on 1992," Patel, 38, said in a swipe at Nadler, 75, and Maloney, 76, during his introductory statement in the debate co-sponsored by NY1 and WNYC. Nadler’s delivery was halting during his initial presentation and he misspoke and often seemed unable to come up with the right words. And then Nadler, the House Judiciary Committee chairman, uttered a real whopper, proclaiming, "I’ve impeached Bush twice." He was referring to his oversight of the politically divisive ...politicians call things divisivewhen when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled... impeachments of former President Donald Trump ...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party... , whom he confused with either the 41st or 43rd president. Nadler’s bumbling seemed to prove Patel’s point. "Nineteen-nineties Democrats have lost about every major battle to Mitch McConnell ![]() Cocaine Mitchbecause a few million bucks' worth of the drug was once found on one of his father-in-law's ships in Colombia, which is kind of a tenuous assertion, to say the least... and the Republicans," said Patel, referring to the Senate Republican leader from Kentucky. Meanwhile, ...back at the dirigible, Jack stuck the cigar in his mouth, stepped onto the gantry, and asked Got a light, Mac? Von Schtinken stopped short, lowering the dagger and trying to control his features. If you light that thing, Herr Armschtröng,he pointed out, his voice tense, we all die!... Nadler sat during the entire 90-minute session while Maloney and Patel stood at their lecterns. Nadler had many other verbal stumbles throughout the debate and at one point when the moderators offered him a chance to respond since his name had been brought up by an opponent, he seemed stunned and had nothing to say. At one point, WNYC moderator Brigid Bergin asked Nadler about the importance of seniority and how he and Maloney differed on policies, two related but different questions. Nadler answered that seniority is important if used effectively, but forgot about the Maloney comparison. "The second one, the second question, what was the second one?" Nadler asked. Maloney made waves for a different reason during the debate: She predicted that President Joe Biden ...... 46th president of the U.S. Sleazy Dem machine politician, paterfamilias of the Biden Crime Family, the guy who bungled Afghanistan...... , 79, would not run for re-election. "I don’t believe he’s running for re-election," Maloney said. Nadler, meanwhile, would not commit to supporting Biden’s re-election and would only answer, "It’s too early to say," when asked. |

Maloney, Nadler tied while Patel surges in House primary race: poll | |

The survey released by the Patel campaign Monday shows septuagenarians Maloney and Nadler tied with 31% of the vote apiece. Patel’s support, meanwhile, rose to 25% from 19% in June, with 13% of Democrats still undecided ahead of the Aug. 23 primary. The Democrats’ gerrymandering debacle ended up pitting Maloney and Nadler — longtime allies who’ve served in the House of Representatives together since 1993 — against each other. Judges knocked out the Democrat-drawn maps — which Republicans derided as the "Hochulmander" because Gov. Kathy Hochul approved them — finding them unconstitutional. As a result, a court-ordered special master merged Maloney’s East Side turf with Nadler’s West Side base, setting up a battle royal in the new 12th Congressional District. The Patel campaign survey was conducted by Whitman Insight Strategies, whose founders have polled for former Mayor Mike Bloomberg ![]() Republicanmayor and nanny of New York, Dem candidate for president in 2020. AOC calls for release of all Rikers inmates amid 'inhumane' jail conditions |
2021-09-22 |
[MSN] Rep. Alexandria Boom BoomOcasio-Cortez ![]() Green New Deal, though she doesn't talk about it much anymore... and three other House Democrats from New York called on Mayor de Blasio and Gov. Hochul Tuesday to release all inmates held on Rikers Island, citing a long-running pattern of "human right violations" at the jail. Ocasio-Cortez made the extraordinary demand in a letter to de Blasio and Hochul issued jointly with Reps. Jamaal Bowman, Nydia Velazquez and Jerrold Nadler, who chairs the powerful House Judiciary Committee. In addition to freeing the roughly 6,000 inmates on the island, the four politicians wrote that the jail itself should be "immediately" shuttered and federal funding for its operations seized. "The current conditions experienced at Rikers are inhumane, unconstitutional and a public health crisis," they wrote. "We believe federal funds should be used to decarcerate and shut down the facility immediately, as well as provide social, economic, psychological and physical health support to all those that are released to ensure their safe reentry into our community." Neither the mayor nor the governor have entertained the idea of freeing all Rikers inmates as they scramble to address the spiraling crisis at the overcrowded jail. Rather, de Blasio and Hochul have pushed for releasing a subset of inmates locked up for technical parole violations. Hochul signed a bill into law last week that would make it so minor parole violations are no longer punishable by jail, but most components of that measure won’t take effect until 2022. |

Number 7: Former NY Journalist Accuses Andrew Cuomo of Sexual Harassment |
2021-03-14 |
![]() Bakeman broke her silence about Cuomo in an essay published in The New Yorker on Friday, alleging that the governor placed his arm around her shoulders during a party at the Executive Mansion in 2012. "He left it there, and kept me pinned next to him, for several minutes as he finished telling his story," Bakeman, now an education reporter for Miami’s WLRN, recalled. "I stood there, my cheeks hot, giggling nervously as my male colleagues did the same. We all knew it was wrong, but we did nothing." . @NYGovCuomo signing lease agreement to keep #Buffalo #Bills in Orchard Park's Ralph Wilson stadium pic.twitter.com/5iEnf1zm — Jessica Bakeman (@jessicabakeman) December 21, 2012 In another instance, Bakeman alleges that the governor held her body tightly while she said goodnight at a holiday party in 2014. "He took my hand, as if to shake it, then refused to let go," she recalled. "He put his other arm around my back, his hand on my waist, and held me firmly in place while indicating to a photographer he wanted us to pose for a picture." According to Bakeman, Cuomo’s behavior toward her was not about sex but rather exerting "power." "He wanted me to know that he could take my dignity away at any moment with an inappropriate comment or a hand on my waist," she wrote. "The way he bullies and demeans women is different," she added. "He uses touching and sexual innuendo to stoke fear in us. That is the textbook definition of sexual harassment." Related: Andrew Cuomo: 2021-03-13 New York Reps. Another Progressive Win: Brooklyn Development Plan Intended To Create 15,000 Jobs Is Shelved |
2020-09-24 |
[HotAir] Remember when Amazon tried to bring 25,000 new jobs to Queens and AOC and others blocked them? Something very similar just happened in Brooklyn. A development group wanted to invest a bunch of money and create an estimated 15,000 additional jobs but local progressives groups blocked a rezoning that was necessary for the plan to go forward. Now the company behind it has withdrawn it. Brooklyn may be struggling with double digit unemployment in the midst of a pandemic but they are still more worried about gentrification than jobs: SEE ALSO: Just 43% of young black voters trust congressional Dems to do what’s best for black people The project, which required the city’s approval to rezone the area, had been cast as a way to bring jobs to an underdeveloped industrial section of Sunset Park, and supporters argued that the city’s massive job losses in recent months gave them an even more compelling reason to move forward with plans to create a shopping and office behemoth there. New York City’s unemployment rate last month was 16 percent, nearly twice the national average... "If a project like this can’t succeed, it concerns me very much about the future of New York City — a place I’ve spent my whole life," the chief executive of Industry City, Andrew Kimball, said in an interview on Wednesday... The proposal to rezone the area was stridently opposed by a handful of community groups, most notably Uprose, an environmental justice group, and Protect Sunset Park. The grass-roots opposition helped win over local elected officials, including Representatives Nydia M. Velázquez, Jerrold Nadler, Yvette D. Clarke and Hakeem Jeffries, who sent a letter to the City Council on Tuesday opposing the rezoning and urging council members to listen to residents. While business leaders are shaking their heads, local progressives including the councilman for the area are celebrating this as a win for "people power." |

DOJ snubs Nadler's request for testimony from top officials, cites reprehensible treatment of Barr |
2020-09-24 |
![]() The request by the New York Democrat and House Judiciary Committee chairman was met with a stinging rebuke and refusal by Assistant Attorney General Stephen E. Boyd who called out committee members for using a July hearing to "air grievances" when they had the opportunity to question Attorney General William Barr in person. Nadler called for appearances by Assistant Attorney General Eric Dreiband, Bureau of Prisons Director Michael Carvajal and U.S. Marshals Service Director Donald Washington. The officials were requested to appear before the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, with one of the meetings reportedly scheduled for this Thursday, according to Fox News. But Boyd shot down the request, citing the way Barr was treated in the Oversight hearing on July 28 when Democrats "devoted their time entirely towards scolding and insulting the attorney general" who had appeared to address several different topics, including the Trump administration’s response to months of protests and riots that erupted in the wake of the death of George Floyd. "Unfortunately, when given the opportunity to obtain information from the head of the Department of Justice about precisely these matters, many committee members chose instead to use their allotted time to air grievances," the DOJ letter read. "Rather than attempt to obtain information from the department that would assist the Committee in recommending legislation to the House, many members of the majority devoted their time entirely towards scolding and insulting the Attorney General," the letter continued. "These members refused to allow the Attorney General to respond to their accusations or to answer questions asked for rhetorical effect," Boyd noted. Barr was repeatedly interrupted, he reminded Nadler, noting that some did not even want to hear what he had to say. "All told, when the attorney general tried to address the committee’s questions, he was interrupted and silenced in excess of 70 times," Boyd wrote. "One member interrupted him and admitted, ’Well I don’t want you to tell your story.’" He even referenced The New York Times ![]() ...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... and its assessment of the hearing in an article at the time. "Democrat after Democrat posed questions to Mr. Barr only to cut him off when he tried to reply, substituting their own replies for his," the Times reported on Barr’s testimony before the House Judiciary Committee. "For months you’ve tried to get the attorney general to come. He’s here. Why don’t you let him speak?" Committee ranking member Jim Jordan told Nadler at the hearing. Joan Swirsky: 'Heads-Up Jewish Americans‐Democrats Are Your Enemies' |
2020-07-14 |
It’s quite simple for me, as it should be for all Jews, given the fact that in a world of about eight-billion people, we Jews are a miniscule 15 million, only about six-million in the United States, eight-million in Israel, and another one-million around the world. That is equivalent to the proverbial drop in the ocean. A PRESSING IMPERATIVE If we Jews and our supporters don’t aggressively address the pandemic of anti-Semitism that is galloping around the globe and exploding here in America, rampant on college campuses, aided and abetted by a craven media that gives credibility to career hate-mongers like Louis Farrakhan and his ilk, and even contaminating the hallowed halls of the U.S. Congress——with more floridly hate-Jews/hate-Israel Democrats than ever before in history——then we know from our tragic history that annihilation could be right around the corner. Sadly the Democrat Party of old——of JFK, Sen. Henry "Scoop" Jackson, Senator and VP Walter Mondale, et al——has vanished, replaced by Democrats like "the squad" who spew their poisonous hatred of Jews and Israel from the House of Representatives itself. Then there are those who remain thunderously silent——including elected Democrat Jews like Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer, Jerrold Nadler, Eliot Engel, Adam Schiff, Richard Blumenthal, as well Democrat Representatives from Long Island——with a huge Jewish population——Tom Suozzi and Kathleen Rice. |
