US drones kill three Haqqani militants in Pakistan |
2011-11-04 |
[One Pakistan] ![]() The attack took place in Darpakhel Sarai, just outside Miranshah the main town of North ![]() Covert CIA drones are the chief US weapon against Taliban and Al-Qaeda Death Eaters who use Pak soil as launch pads for attacking US troops in the 10-year war in neighbouring Afghanistan and plotting attacks on the West. "A drone fired two missiles on a myrmidon compound. At least three Death Eaters were killed," a senior Pak security official told AFP. He said those killed were loyal to Jamil Haqqani, an important Afghan commander in the Haqqani network whom US officials said was killed in a drone strike in North Waziristan on October 13. A US official at the time named him as Janbaz Zadran, saying he "played a central role in helping the Haqqani network attack US and coalition targets in Kabul and southeastern Afghanistan". Other intelligence officials in Miranshah and the northwestern city of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar confirmed Thursday's missile strike and casualties. Three other maimed Death Eaters were pulled out of the rubble and taken to hospital, witnesses said. One of them was carried out on a cot by seven to eight Death Eaters enveloped in dust. Militants cordoned off the area and were preventing anyone from accessing the destroyed compound, they said. A local intelligence official said about 10 Death Eaters had been inside the compound but that some had managed to escape. The latest attack is the 61st US drone strike reported in Pakistain so far this year -- a programme that American officials refuse to discuss publicly and which has been dramatically ramped up under President Barack I am the change that you seekObama. American politicians are running out of patience with Pakistain, demanding that Islamabad cut all long-standing ties with Islamist myrmidons, after Navy SEALs found and killed the late Osama bin Laden ... who is no more... close to the Pak capital on May 2. Relations between Pakistain and the United States deteriorated after that, and again over accusations that Pak intelligence helped the Haqqani network in a September 13 siege of the US embassy in Kabul. Two US senators just back from talks in Afghanistan and Pakistain said Wednesday that the coming weeks will show whether Islamabad can be a reliable ally against Islamist hard boys. "It does feel, at times, like Pakistain is playing both the role of fireman and arsonist in Afghanistan," said Democratic Senator Tom Udall, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee. "The next few weeks will demonstrate or not whether we can work together effectively with the government of Pakistain" against foes like the Haqqani network blamed for attacks in Afghanistan, said Democratic Senator Jack Reed. |

[Dawn] A US missile strike killed at least six suspected forces of Evil in northwestern Pakistain near the Afghan border Saturday, two Pak intelligence officials said, in the third such American missile attack in as many days. The officials said four missiles slammed into a compound near the border town of Angore Adda in the South ![]() ... for fear of being murdered... Nazir is believed to have an agreement with Pak authorities that they will leave him alone so long as his men refrain from carrying out attacks on Pak soil. Since 2008, Washington has regularly used drone-fired missiles to target Islamic fascisti and their hideouts in Pak tribal regions where local and Afghan factions like the Haqqanis and al-Qaeda men are hiding. US officials do not acknowledge the CIA-led program publicly, and Pakistain protests the strikes, which are unpopular. Saturday's strike was the latest in a string of missile attacks targeting the myrmidon-infested border region. On Friday, US missiles killed four unidentified people in the North Waziristan tribal region. A day earlier, a missile attack in North Waziristan killed Janbaz Zadran. US officials say Zadran was a top commander in the Haqqani network and had helped orchestrate attacks in Kabul and southeastern Afghanistan. Meanwhile, ...back at the chili cook-off, Chuck and Manuel's rivalry was entering a new and more dangerous phase... police said Saturday they had placed in durance vile a Russian and two nationals from Azerbaijan in Lakki Marwat, a town located near North Waziristan. It was not clear how the men reached the region, which is off limits to foreigners, and authorities said they were still investigating to determine whether the men had any links to myrmidon groups. |

US drone attack kills four in Pakistan |

[Dawn] A US drone strike killed four Islamic fascisti in northwestern Pakistain on Friday, the third such attack in 48 hours against Taliban hotbeds in ![]() The drone fired two missiles into a vehicle as it drove through Darpa Khel village about four kilometres (two miles) west of Miramshah, the main town in the district of North Waziristan, the Pak security officials told AFP. "The US drone fired two missiles," one of the officials told AFP on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to talk to the media. "Four Islamic fascisti were killed in the attack, they were all in the vehicle," he added. The identities of the dead were not clear, but the village is a stronghold for Islamic fascisti fighting against US troops in Afghanistan. Covert CIA drones are the chief US weapon against Taliban and al Qaeda Islamic fascisti who use Pakistain's lawless tribal areas as launchpads for attacking US troops in Afghanistan and plotting attacks on the West. A US official in Washington described a commander in the al Qaeda-linked Haqqani network who was killed on Thursday as "the most senior Haqqani leader in Pakistain to be taken off the battlefield". Pak officials reported 10 Islamic fascisti killed in two US drone strikes on Thursday and named the Haqqani commander as Jamil Haqqani, a coordinator for the Afghan Taliban faction in North Waziristan. The US official said he was known as Jamil and as Janbaz Zadran, accusing him of having "played a central role in helping the Haqqani network attack US and coalition targets in Kabul and southeastern Afghanistan". Pak officials said the slain commander was not a relative of Jalaluddin Haqqani, the Afghan warlord who founded the Taliban faction, but had been close to his son Sirajuddin Haqqani, who now runs the network. The US military has accused Pakistain's premier intelligence outfit, the ISI, of having close ties to the network and of being involved in a 19-hour siege of the American embassy in Kabul on September 13. Members of Jalaluddin Haqqani's family and close relatives have been living in Dandi Derpakhel area since the start of the Afghan war. The group had set up a seminary in the area. Sources said the hard boyz were using the outpost to keep an eye on the movement of NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants... and Afghan troops at their forward base in Machadad Kot area of Paktika ...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo... province across the border. Two Afghan and four local hard boyz were killed in the drone attack, sources said. Agencies add: "Jamil Haqqani, an important Afghan commander of the Haqqani network was the target and was killed," a Pak security official said, adding that Jamil was working as a coordinator of the network in North Waziristan. The official said the three other hard boyz killed in the strike were Haqqani's fighters, guarding the commander in the compound. Other officials said Jamil was not related to Jalaluddin, or his son Sirajuddin who now runs the network but that he was "very close to the top commanders, including Sirajuddin".
