At least 12 injured in knife attack at Hamburg train station: emergency services
2025-05-24
[GEO.TV] A knife attack at the main station in the German city of Hamburg left at least 12 people injured with some of them in a life-threatening condition, local emergency services said.

"According to initial information, a person injured several people with a knife at the main train station," Hamburg police said in a post on X.

"The suspect was apprehended by the responding forces."

A front man for the Hamburg fire department told AFP that 12 people had been injured in the attack.

Among them were "six people with life-threatening injuries", the front man said.

Some of the victims were being treated in trains, according to the German daily Bild.

Germany has been rocked by a series of violent mostly peaceful attacks in recent months.

On Sunday, four people were maimed in a stabbing at a bar in the city of Bielefeld.

The investigation into the attack had been handed over to federal prosecutors after the suspect in the attack told the coppers who arrested him that he had murderous Moslem beliefs.
The Times of Israel adds:
German police on Friday said they had arrested a woman after at least 17 people were maimed in a knife attack at the main station in the northern city of Hamburg.

Some of the victims sustained life-threatening injuries in the stabbing, which took place in the middle of the city’s evening rush hour, emergency services said.

The suspect, a 39-year-old German woman, was arrested at the scene by law enforcement, a Hamburg police front man said said.

Officers "approached her, and the woman allowed herself to be arrested without resistance," Florian Abbenseth told journalists in comments carried by public broadcaster ARD.

"We have no evidence so far that the woman may had a political motive," Abbenseth said.

"Rather, we have information based on which we now want to investigate whether she may have been experiencing a psychological emergency."

The suspect was thought to have "acted alone," Hamburg police said in a post on X.

Four of them had suffered life-threatening injuries, the front man said, revising down an initial figure.

A previous statement by the fire department said six people were in a life-threatening condition.

Among the 17 victims were six severely injured people and seven people with light injuries, the front man for the fire department said.

The attack was reported by German media to have taken place just after 6:00 p.m. local time on one of the platforms in front of a standing train.

The suspect was thought to have turned "against passengers" at the station, a spokeswoman for the Hanover federal police directorate, which also covers Hamburg, told AFP.
More from Breitbart:
Twelve people are injured and three of them are in “mortal danger” after a mass stabbing at Germany’s Hamburg Central railway station.

Update 2100 — Four are in critical condition

A clearer picture of today’s mass stabbing in Germany is developing, with Die Welt reporting the number of known injured has risen to four in critical condition. A further six are seriously injured and seven more suffering light wounds. 17 in all were injured.

The attack is the second mass stabbing in Germany in a matter of days. As previously reported, a stabbing in the early hours of Sunday morning in Bielefeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, allegedly by a Syrian migrant was days later classified as a possible terror attack after Islamist literature was found on the attacker and at his home. As well as using a knife, the man is alleged to have wielded a spear and a bottle of petrol.

More from Breitbart about the Bielefeld attack:
A Syrian migrant, identified 35-year-old as Mahmoud Mhemed, was arrested on Monday by police on attempted murder charges in relation to a mass stabbing in Bielefeld in North Rhine-Westphalia. Five people were injured, and four of them seriously: the German Justice minister revealed they “barely escaped with their lives”.

The bar where the attack took place said in a social media post that one of those “critically injured” men had been a member of the public who had bravely fought the knifeman to end the attack. They said: “Had it not been for him, things would probably have been even worse”.

Now the investigation into that attack has been taken over by the Federal Prosecutor on suspicion of a religious terrorism motive. Per a report by Germany’s Die Welt, they believe they have found evidence for Islamism, that the suspect had an interest in the Islamic State, and had been in contact with a known Islamist fundamentalist.

It is stated the attack, which took place at a bar in the city, saw football fans attacked by a man wielding a knife and a home made spear, being a knife tied to a pole. A group of patrons fought back, causing the suspect to flee. As previously reported, the man dropped a bag containing “multiple knives, a liquid that smelled of gasoline, and personal documents indicating Syrian nationality”.

Zeit states a spokesman for the Federal Prosecutor, which has specialist counter-terror investigators and takes suspected terror cases over from local non-specialised prosecutors, who said the mass stabbing is being treated as an attack on Germany’s liberal democratic order and that at the time of the suspect’s arrest “a document was found on him that suggests the crime may have been religiously motivated.”

Further, images concerning Hezbollah and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) are said to have been found at the suspect’s apartment.

Suspect Mhemed entered Europe through the territory of Turkey and was granted temporary refugee status by the German Migration Office in 2023. Earlier reports that he had no police record have been superseded, Focus reports, noting he had previously been investigated for “politically motivated crime” .

He was arrested on Monday after leading police on a 100 mile chase through Germany, taking several trains and other public transport from Bielefeld to Essen and to other towns beyond, finally being found in an apartment of a relative in Heiligenhaus.

Over 100 Militants Killed in Somalia Since Start of Trump’s Second Term, Says White House
2025-05-22
[Garowe] At least 100 terrorists, both leaning to the al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
and ISIS, have been killed in Somalia since President Donald Trump
...The Hero of Butler, Pennsylvania...
assumed his second term early this year, the White House said, with the number expected to increase in the coming months..

On Monday, at least 10 hard boyz were killed in Cal-Miskaad mountains in Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
, with the White House posting a video of the battlegrounds within the mountains, which have been a base of the ISIS Death Eaters, but whose influence is declining.

"We haven’t forgotten the threat posed by Jihadis. 10 more were permanently removed from the battlefield in Somalia yesterday," the White House said. "That brings the total to over 100 bloodthirsty Death Eaters killed since President Trump was sworn in."

The US Africa Command has increased its tempo in Somalia, with the Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s targeting strategic locations, destroying the Death Eaters' military installations and other assets dangerous for peace and stability in the region.

In February, President Donald Trump announced airstrikes in Cal-Miskaad, where a senior commander of the ISIS hard boyz was killed. Since then, Puntland forces and US Africa Command have made progress, liberating several areas in the process.

Trump said the hit, less than two weeks into his term, had targeted a senior IS attack planner and other hard boyz in Somalia's semi-autonomous region of Puntland and had "destroyed the caves they live in, and killed many Death Eaters without, in any way, harming civilians".

He boasted that he had succeeded where former US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. This Is A Man That Does Not Seem Demented...
had failed."Biden and his cronies wouldn't act quickly enough to get the job done. I did!" The president maintained that "We will find you and we will kill you".

But airstrikes are different from troops on the ground, and Trump did not stop aerial bombardments in his first term. He increased them to nearly 400. The initial number of service members was 600 before it was reduced during Trump's first administration.
Shabelle Media adds:
In a post published on X (formerly Twitter), the White House confirmed that a US operation conducted on May 19 had resulted in the deaths of 10 militants, bringing the total number of militant casualties to “over 100” since the start of the Trump administration.

The statement did not specify whether the militants targeted in the latest strike were affiliated with the al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab group or the Islamic State in Somalia (ISS), both of which have been the focus of an intensified US military campaign in the country.

However, local reports suggested the operation may have taken place near the town of Adan Yabaal in the Middle Shabelle region, a known al-Shabaab stronghold.

West Bank: Hamasnik killed Saturday confirmed murdered pregnant mom headed to hospital, his busy cell arrested along with a mastermind and an ISIS cell

IDF: Hamas member killed in West Bank on Saturday was behind deadly terror shooting
[IsraelTimes] Naael Samarah killed Tzeela Gez, 30, while she was headed to hospital to give birth, also wounded her husband; baby, born in emergency C-section, named Ravid Haim, which she chose

The military said Wednesday it confirmed that a Paleostinian suspect killed by troops in the West Bank town of Bruqin over the weekend carried out last week’s deadly terror shooting in the area.

In the attack on May 14, near Bruqin and the settlement of Bruchin, a Paleostinian terrorist opened fire from the side of a road on Israeli motorists, killing Tzeela Gez, 30, and wounding her husband. Gez had been heading to a hospital to give birth.

Beilinson Hospital staff conducted an emergency C-section to save the newborn, who remains at death's door. He was named Ravid Haim, a name Gez had chosen, a statement on behalf of the family said Tuesday.

As troops were searching the area on Saturday, a suspect with a backpack ran toward them while shouting "Allahu Akbar" (God is greatest). He was then rubbed out.

Following an investigation led by the Shin Bet, police, and Israel Defense Forces, it was revealed that the suspect, Naael Samarah, carried out the shooting attack, a joint statement said.

Samarah, a member of Hamas

for his activity in the terror group. He was released in 2010 and tossed in the clink

again for several days in 2019 for online incitement, according to the military.

The IDF said that in his backpack, troops found an assault rifle and other equipment used to carry out the terror attack.

His home, near Bruqin, was mapped by IDF troops ahead of its demolition on Wednesday, the military said in a statement, in accordance with Israel’s policy of demolishing the homes of Paleostinians accused of carrying out deadly terror attacks.

Several additional Paleostinians suspected of involvement in the attack have been arrested, including one accused of being the head of a terror cell that Samarah was part of.

The cell, according to the IDF, carried out three other shooting attacks in the area in recent months, including one near Ariel on March 12, in which an Israeli civilian was moderately maimed.

The West Bank has seen a surge in violence since Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on Israel from the Gazoo

Strip ignited the war there.

Since then, troops have arrested some 6,000 wanted Paleostinians across the West Bank, including more than 2,350 affiliated with Hamas. According to the Paleostinian Authority health ministry, more than 950 West Bank Paleostinians have been killed in that time. The IDF says the vast majority of them were button men killed in exchanges of fire, rioters who clashed with troops, or gunnies carrying out attacks.

There has also been a significant increase in settler violence against Paleostinians since the start of the war.

During the same period, 52 people, including Israeli security personnel, have been killed in terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank. Another eight members of the security forces were killed in festivities with terror operatives in the West Bank.

IDF says it has arrested Palestinian behind deadly January West Bank terror shooting

[IsraelTimes] The IDF says it detained a Palestinian accused of directing a deadly terror shooting attack in the West Bank village of al-Funduq in January.

The suspect was arrested overnight in Jenin’s western neighborhood, the IDF says.

The attack on January 6 — carried out by three gunmen who have all since been killed — killed off-duty police officer Master Sgt. Elad Yaakov Winkelstein and civilians Rachel Cohen and Aliza Raiz.

Additionally, overnight, the IDF says it detained a five-man cell of Islamic State-affiliated terror operatives in the town of Qabatiya.

(ISIS) attacks targeting military checkpoints in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor and Hasakah provinces. The SDF also warned of an uptick in holy warrior activity aimed at destabilizing the region.

"Our forces thwarted two separate ISIS attacks targeting our military checkpoints in the eastern Deir ez-Zor and Hasakah countrysides," the SDF said in a statement.

Regarding the incident in Hasakah, the SDF reported that the attack occurred when one of their fighters stopped a "suspicious civilian vehicle" at a checkpoint. The vehicle was found to be carrying weapons and ammunition. Shortly afterward, two ISIS bully boyz on a cycle of violence launched an attack on the checkpoint. The SDF repelled the attack, which resulted in material damage but no casualties.

In the Deir ez-Zor countryside, an SDF patrol came under fire from an "ISIS cell" while conducting a routine security operation.

"Our forces responded effectively to the attack," the SDF stated, adding that "the losses inflicted on the Lions of Islam remain unknown." The SDF reported only minor material damage and confirmed that there were no casualties among their ranks.

The SDF has been warning for months about a resurgence in ISIS activity targeting both their forces and civilians, particularly in oil-rich areas like Deir ez-Zor, which remains partially under their control.

Over 600 IDPs return to Shingal from Duhok: Migration ministry
2025-05-20
[Rudaw] More than 600 displaced people on Sunday returned to the Yazidi heartland of Shingal (Sinjar) from Duhok province, Iraq’s migration ministry said, as officials anticipate a rise in returns once schools go on break.

"The 126 families of 617 people returned to Shingal district from Duhok province," the spokesperson for the Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Displacement Ali Jahangir told Rudaw on Sunday.

He added that once school holidays begin at the start of summer, the pace of repatriation will increase, noting that over 13,000 families have already returned from the Kurdistan Region in recent years, with around 21,000 still remaining.

(ISIS) seized control of large swathes of territory in Iraq’s north and west. A little over a month later, in August, the group launched a wide-scale attack against the Yazidi community in Iraq's northern Shingal.

also reported that up to 200,000 Yazidis were displaced from Shingal, many of whom settled in camps across Dohuk.

According to the migration ministry, returning Yazidi families will be provided with four million dinars (around $3,000) in financial assistance, along with some essential household appliances including a refrigerator, stove, and television.

Though more than ten years have passed since ISIS launched its attack on Shingal, much of the Yazidi community remains displaced. Their return has been hindered by a combination of security concerns, political disputes, and infrastructure and reconstruction challenges. The presence of various gangs has also created an unstable environment, further deterring many Yazidis from returning.

(ISIS) cells carried out an attack on their forces in eastern Syria, killing a fighter and injuring another.

The "treacherous" attack targeted one of SDF’s checkpoints in Hajeen district of the eastern province of Deir ez-Zor, according to a statement from the SDF.

The oil-rich Deir ez-Zor is partially controlled by the SDF and has seen an escalation in ISIS activity.

"These repeated terrorist attacks underscore the difficult challenges our forces face and reaffirm the critical importance of our mission to eliminate terrorism at its roots and uphold security and stability throughout the region," read the statement.

The SDF, the de facto army of northeast Syria (Rojava), has reported several ISIS attacks in Deir ez-Zor. It has also captured several ISIS suspects.

ISIS has also been active in parts of Deir ez-Zor controlled by Damascus.

Syrian state media reported on Sunday that a suspected ISIS attack on a cop shoppe in Deir ez-Zor’s Mayadeen city. At least four people were killed, and several others were maimed.

Three killed in car bomb blast targeting police station in east Syria
2025-05-20
[Rudaw] Three people were killed and several others injured in a blast caused by an explosive-rigged vehicle in the Deir ez-Zor countryside of eastern Syria on Sunday, according to the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

In a statement on X, SANA quoted a "security source" stating that "three deaders have fallen and several others were maimed in the initial toll of the earth-shattering kaboom that targeted a cop shoppe in the city of Mayadeen," located 45 kilometers southeast of Deir ez-Zor. The agency later confirmed that the three fatalities were coppers.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) shared footage of the deadly blast, adding that the earth-shattering kaboom occurred outside a prison in Mayadeen.

Importantly, the deadly incident occurred just hours after the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced that the Syrian General Security and General Intelligence directorates had launched a "joint security operation" targeting a "hideout of an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. (ISIS) terrorist cell" in the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo, northern Syria.

The ministry reported that one Damascus-affiliated security officer was killed during the operation, along with three members of the terrorist cell. Four additional cell members were arrested for their involvement in "carrying out terrorist activities, including direct attacks on General Security personnel."

The Syrian interior ministry further noted that "weapons, kabooms, and boom jackets" were seized from the suspects, reinforcing its "commitment to combating criminal cells" and emphasizing that it would "not hesitate to protect the security and stability of the country and confront anyone who attempts to disrupt it."

In a separate development, Syria's Defense Minister, Murhaf Abu Qasra, confirmed on Saturday that all armed units had been integrated into his ministry to unify the country’s armed forces.

He issued a ten-day ultimatum to "remaining small military groups" to complete the unification and organizational efforts, warning that any delay in compliance would be dealt with under the law.

Abu Qasra further explained that the push to consolidate all armed units under a single institutional structure began shortly after the fall of Syrian dictator Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

On Saturday as well, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) reported capturing suspected members of an ISIS cell in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor province.

"Based on precise intelligence, our forces raided the location where members of the terrorist cell were hiding in the town of al-Busayrah and successfully captured them," read a statement from the SDF.

The operation was carried out with the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ).

"The captured holy warriors were planning to carry out attacks targeting our military and security forces, as well as civilians and public institutions in the area," the SDF statement added.

ISIS, which was territorially defeated in 2019, has recently attempted to regain ground, taking advantage of the prevalent instability in Syria following the fall of the Assad regime.

On Friday, the SDF announced that they had captured 10 ISIS suspects in Deir ez-Zor after one of their fighters was killed and three others injured in an ISIS attack.

According to the UK-based war monitor, SOHR, there have been 84 operations carried out by ISIS cells in northeast Syria (Rojava) since the beginning of 2025, including armed attacks, assassinations, and bombings.

and Raqqa and became a member of ISIS. His wife, Asya, is a Kurd from Iraq’s Hawija town in Kirkuk province. For her 18th birthday gift, her father took her hand and brought her into the ranks of ISIS. There she married Twana.
The couple were previously named in the Rantburg archives as Twana H.S. and Asia R.A.
Since April 9, 2024, Twana and Asya have been imprisoned in Germany on charges of membership in a foreign terrorist organization, committing war crimes and crimes against humanity, and sexual assault against individuals under 18 years of age.

"If the charges brought against them by the public prosecutor are confirmed, then there will be life imprisonment; the complaint is about genocide. The client we represent in this process and other Yazidi survivors whom we have represented talk about two main motivations for why they participate in these trial processes and why it is important to them," Natalie von Wistinghausen, a lawyer for a Yazidi girl who survived ISIS atrocity, told Rudaw.

Twana has been accused of sexually abusing two Yazidi girls, one of which is expected to be present in a future trial as a witness.

ISIS swept through vast swathes of Iraq and Syria in 2014 and declared a so-called caliphate in a brazen offensive that saw the group take control of around a third of Syria’s territory as well as several Iraqi cities, including the second largest northern city of Mosul. It was declared territorially defeated in 2017 and 2019 in both countries respectively.

During the jihadists’ brutal reign, they committed heinous atrocities, such as genocide, sexual slavery, and massacres against non-Moslems, especially the Yazidi ethnoreligious group.

"Three of these defendants were sentenced to death for aiding and abetting in ’corruption on earth’ following proceedings" at Shiraz Revolutionary Court, Fars chief justice Sadrollah Rajaei-Nasab said, quoted by the judiciary’s Mizan Online website.

They were also sentenced to 25 years in prison for "aiding and abetting in moharebeh," he added, referring to the capital offence of enmity against God.

Two other alleged members of the jihadist IS were sentenced to 15 years and 10 years in prison "based on their level of cooperation and influence in the Shah Cheragh terrorist events."

Two women were each sentenced to five years, but "their sentences will be served under Islamic leniency, monitored by electronic ankle bracelets, and within a one-kilometer radius of their homes."

Rajaei-Nasab said other parts of the case, including charges related to weapons trafficking, remained under review, and that some verdicts had been appealed to Iran’s Supreme Court.

In July 2023, Iran executed two men in public over the first attack on the shrine.

Following the second attack, the judiciary said in August 2023 that security forces had arrested nine people — all foreigners — and later sentenced a Tajik IS member to death the following month.

Syria gives armed groups 10 days to integrate into defense ministry
2025-05-18
A reminder: Y’all have been conquered. That means your only option is to surrender, so please get in with it. NOW.
[Rudaw] Syria’s defense minister announced on Saturday that all armed units have been integrated into the Ministry of Defense, unifying the country’s armed forces, though he gave "remaining small military groups" a ten-day deadline to complete the process.

"Today, we convey to our honorable people the news of the integration of all units into the Syrian Ministry of Defense," Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Qasra said in a post on X.

He said that the process to unify all the armed units under a single institutional structure began immediately following the end of the former regime.

"Given the importance of institutional work, we stress the need for the remaining small military groups to join the ministry within a maximum period of 10 days from the date of this announcement, in order to complete the efforts of unification and organization," he added, warning that any delay complying would be dealt with under the law.

In December, the rebel coalition, including Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else

, agreed to merge into the Syrian defense ministry.

The Syrian Democratic forces (SDF), which control the northeast, signed an agreement with Damascus on March 10, to integrate "all civil and military institutions in northeast Syria [Rojava] under the administration of the Syrian state, including border crossings, the [Qamishli International] Airport, and oil and gas fields."

Despite this deal, Kurds in Rojava are concerned about key decisions the new authorities in Damascus have made to centralize authority. The Damascus leadership in late April censured SDF's call for federalism, saying it contradicts their agreement.
The Times of Israel adds:
Syria’s new authorities, led by interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, have dissolved the army and security agencies linked to the Assad government.

The new administration also dissolved all armed factions including Sharaa’s Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which led the lightning offensive that toppled Assad in December.

Factions that agreed to dissolve were integrated into the defense ministry, and General Security, the country’s new police, opened the door to recruits as part of both institutions’ efforts to create a new army and security force.

Factions from Daraa in the south, as well as The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

-backed factions in the north and Islamist groups also joined the ministry’s forces.

These factions have retained their weapons and remain deployed in their areas of operation.

But HTS and Islamist groups aligned with it remain dominant, especially in their original stronghold in Idlib in the northwest and in Damascus.

Syria’s new authorities face major challenges preventing them from asserting control over all of the war-torn country, including the presence of gangs with varying loyalties.

The main challenge for Abu Qasra, who as a rebel commander led the offensive that overthrew Assad, is building a new national army.

Syrian security forces assault ISIS hideouts in Aleppo
2025-05-18
[IsraelTimes] Syrian security forces raid Islamic State hideouts in Aleppo, killing at least one militant and arresting others, the Interior Ministry says, the first time such an operation has been announced under the country’s new Islamist rulers.

A member of the security forces was also killed, the statement issued by Syria’s Interior Ministry spokesperson says. The security forces seized weapons, bombs, and uniforms with the security forces’ insignia.

A security source says the raids had targeted sleeper cells in four locations. One Islamic State militant had blown himself up, and another had been killed in clashes, the source says.

Syria’s interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, who once led a branch of al Qaeda, has long been an adversary of the Islamic State and battled the group’s self-declared caliphate during the Syrian war.
