One dead, 18 wounded in blast at Swabi police station
2024-09-27
[GEO.TV] At least one person was killed and 18 sustained injuries in a kaboom inside a cop shoppe in Khyber Pakhtunkwa's Swabi district, Commissioner Mardan Division Javed Marwat said on Thursday.

As per an initial report received by the Central Police Office, the earth-shattering kaboom apparently occurred "due to a short circuit" inside a depot on the first floor of the cop shoppe.

Rescue and firefighting teams rushed to the scene immediately and started shifting the maimed cops to the Bacha Khan Medical where emergency has been imposed.

The power blast affected the building which caught fire, however, it was doused following an immediate response from firefighting teams.

According to rescue officials, 15 maimed coppers have been shifted to the hospital.

KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur took notice of the incident and ordered the inspector general and chief secretary to immediately reach the Swabi cop shoppe.

He also ordered them to present a report after ascertaining the genre of the earth-shattering kaboom. He also asked authorities to ensure timely medical assistance to the injured.

District Police Officer (DPO) Haroon Rashid told the media that 33 maimed persons were shifted to different hospitals. He added that nature of the earth-shattering kaboom was being ascertained.

Dr Asif, medical superintendent of the District Headquarters Hospital, confirmed that 26 injured have been brought to the DHQ hospital. Subsequently, BKMC spokesperson Raham Khan said that eight injured persons were receiving medical treatment at the health facility.

Six FC men wounded in Peshawar suicide bombing
2023-07-19
[Dawn] Six Frontier Corps (FC) men were maimed when a jacket wallah rammed an car bomb into a vehicle carrying the paramilitary personnel in Hayatabad on Tuesday afternoon, the police said.

SP Cantonment Circle Waqas Rafiq told news hounds that it was a suicide kaboom which targeted the vehicle passing through Phase-II of the posh residential area. He said that the injured personnel had been shifted to hospital and were said to be in stable, pH balanced condition.

SSP Operations Haroon Rashid Khan said that the blast appeared to be a vehicle-borne improvised bomb. However,
a lie repeated often enough remains a lie...
he added that they were investigating the attack from "different angles".

SSP Khan said that the police were already on high alert ahead of Muharram and were carrying out search operations to avert any untoward incident. Besides, he said, police have also deployed personnel at the entry and exit points of the city.

A source told Dawn that an estimated 20-25 kilogrammes of explosives were used in the bombing. "High explosives packed in a CNG cylinder were kept in the back of the car which was rammed into the pickup from behind," he said.

He said that since the explosives were packed in the rear of the car, the blast thrust was in the opposite direction of where the FC vehicle was heading, which resulted in fewer casualties. The source said that the bomber’s body was recovered nearly intact and he appeared to be in his late thirties.

Mulla Qasim, a spokesperson for a new group calling itself Tehrik Jihad Pakistain (TJP) in a statement grabbed credit for the attack. However,
a lie repeated often enough remains a lie...
a bigwig insisted that there was no such group and pinned the attack on Tehrik-e-Taliban

IHC Bar Association restores 60 lawyers' membership after 24 hours
2019-12-15
[DAWN] The membership of 60 Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) members has been restored a day after it was suspended for not responding to a strike call by the Pakistain Bar Council and the Islamabad Bar Council (IBC), it emerged on Saturday.

According to a notification issued by the IHCBA, the membership was restored with immediate effect till the IBC decides the references against these lawyers.

As lawyers in the capital observed a nationwide strike on Friday, the ICHBA had also decided to boycott an oath-taking ceremony for new judges at the high court over the IHC chief justice's decision to suspend the practising licence of IHCBA Secretary Umair Baloch.

A letter written by the joint secretary of the IHCBA, Advocate Waqar Ahmed Gondal, to the IBC vice chairman Haroon Rashid stated: "Despite strike notice issued by the Pakistain Bar Council as well as Islamabad Bar Council, the following lawyers have disobeyed the directions issued by your good office, therefore, their membership of Islamabad High Court Bar Association is suspended forthwith.

"[...] And this reference is forwarded for necessary disciplinary action, as your good self has already announced [an] order of the suspension of their respective licenses to practice for one month," the letter added, in an apparent reference to a speech by Rashid in which he said that the licences of the lawyers who did not observe the strike would be suspended.

On Friday, lawyers across the country, on the call of legal bodies, boycotted courts to protest against the registration of cases against those lawyers who were arrested for their involvement in the rampage at Lahore's Punjab

3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

Institute of Cardiology (PIC) earlier this week.

The lawyers were responding to a strike call by the PBC. A notification issued by the PBC had said the protest was "against partial and biased conduct of the local police and the administration of Lahore against the lawyers as well as action taken by the Islamabad High Court against the secretary general, Islamabad High Court Bar Association".

Pakistani extremists oppose NYC terror suspect's US extradition
2017-10-12
With allies like these...
[DW] A Pak court is set to decide the fate of an Islamic State-linked terror suspect whose extradition is being sought by the US. The Trump administration has ratcheted up pressure on Islamabad to act against Islamists.

On Friday, US officials announced charges against Talha Haroon, a 19-year-old US citizen of Pak origin, and two other terror suspects, Canadian Abdulrahman El Bahnasawy and Filipino Russell Salic - aged 19 and 37 respectively - for plotting to attack New York City, including Times Square and the subway system, in 2016.

A Pak court in Islamabad will hear Haroon's bail plea on Friday, October 13, according to the News Agency that Dare Not be Named. Defense lawyer Idrees Ashraf says his client's father, Haroon Rashid, previously obtained a stay on his son's extradition from the same court.

Islamabad High Court to hear bail plea of US terror suspect on Friday
2017-10-11
[DAWN] The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear the bail plea later this week of an American citizen of Pak origin awaiting extradition to the United States for allegedly planning an attack on New York in connivance with the bad boy Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(IS) group, the suspect's lawyer said on Tuesday.

Talha Haroon was jugged

in November 2016. The 19-year-old is one of three suspected IS sympathisers who allegedly plotted to cause bloodshed in New York before US agents reportedly thwarted the plot, US authorities said.

Haroon's defence lawyer Idrees Ashraf said IHC Chief Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqi on Tuesday asked for a response from the interior ministry in Haroon's plea and set the next hearing for Friday.

Ashraf said his client's father Haroon Rashid previously obtained a stay of his son's extradition from the same court. Rashid earlier claimed his son was innocent and would be in danger if sent to the US.

Earlier, US federal law enforcement officials said they disrupted the plot which targeted New York City locations, including concert venues, subway stations and Times Square.

Doctor accused in NYC terror plots nabbed in Philippines
2017-10-08
[AyPee] A Filipino doctor accused of plotting terrorist attacks in the U.S. was incarcerated
Maw! They're comin' to get me, Maw!
months ago in the Philippines for alleged involvement in kidnappings and beheadings blamed on pro-ISIS bad boys.

Chief State Counsel Ricardo Paras said that a Philippine court is considering a request that Russell Salic be extradited to face terrorism financing complaints. U.S. officials said Friday that they disrupted a plot by Salic and two other ISIS sympathizers to carry out attacks at various New York City locations, including concert venues, subway stations and Times Square in the summer of 2016.

Even if the U.S. extradition request is granted, the Department of Justice in Manila would have to decide whether to let Salic face criminal complaints in the Philippines first or be allowed to be flown to the U.S. to answer those terror allegations.

Paras said, "The U.S. can also request for a temporary surrender of Salic to its custody, but it's in our options to require him to face criminal complaints here first."

Salic is accused of sending money to help finance the planned attacks, according to U.S. court documents. He allegedly told an undercover FBI agent that his ultimate goal was to join the ISIS in Syria but that "it would be a great pleasure if we can slaughter" people in New York.

One of the defendants, Abdulrahman El Bahnasawy, was arrested after traveling from Canada to New Jersey in May 2016 to stage the attacks. An American suspect, Talha Haroon, was arrested last year in Pakistain.

Haroon's extradition was halted in March by a Pakistain court. At the time, Haroon's lawyer Tariq Asad said that his client's father, Haroon Rashid, told the court that his son is innocent and that his life would be in danger if he is extradited to the U.S. where President Trump has "biased and prejudiced policy against the Moslems."

Filipino state prosecutors say Salic was taken into custody around April of this year for alleged involvement in the abduction of six sawmill workers, two of whom were later beheaded, in the southern Philippine town of Butig in Lanao del Sur province in 2016. The kidnappings and beheadings have been blamed on the Maute group.

Cleric’s relatives prevented from holding presser at Lal Masjid
2017-08-26
[DAWN] The capital administration on Thursday stopped relatives of deposed Lal Masjid
...literally the Red Mosque, located in Islamabad and frequented by all sorts of high govt officials. The proprietors, Ghazi Abdul Rasheed and Maulana Abdul Aziz Ghazi, unleashed their Islamic storm troopers on the city, shutting down whorehouses and beating people up who weren't devout enough. The Musharraf govt put an end to the nonsense by besieging the place. Abdul Aziz Ghazi was nabbed while he was trying to escape dressed up like a girl. BBC reported that the corpse count at 173, but other claims, usually hysterical, say there were up to 1000 titzup. Among their number was Abdul Rashid Ghazi. Everyone then said tut-tut and what a nice guy he had been...
holy man Maulana Abdul Aziz
...nutball holy man who runs the Lal Masjid in the heart of Pakistain's capital. After instigating a rebellion against the state in 2007, he was caught trying to sneak away dressed in a burka. He rejects democracy as un-Islamic, which it probably is...
from holding a presser on the grounds that mosques should not be politicised.

A presser on alleged enforced disappearances of Mr Aziz’s family members was scheduled for 3pm. When it was time for the presser, a large contingent of Islamabad police arrived at the mosque and closed off the main entrance.

Mediapersons who had entered the mosque prior to the arrival of the police remained within the mosque’s courtyard for half an hour, while those outside attempted to persuade the police to let them in.

"This is a mosque and not a political area," the police official posted at the spot said, adding: "Besides, there is no one inside the mosque for the briefing, as the maulana and his wife have not arrived."

Mr Aziz’ nephew Haroon Rashid, meanwhile, criticised the police for taking charge of the mosque gates and said the move was a human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
violation.

"Mosques are also the community centres of Moslems," he said. "Not allowing media persons to enter the mosque is a violation of freedom of movement and freedom of expression. Maulana’s sisters wanted the address the media ‐ what is the threat in that?"

IHC adjourns Perv's prayer for 4 days
2013-05-28
ISLAMABAD: A division bench of Islamabad High Court adjourned the hearing of bail application of former president Pervez Musharraf in judges’ detention case for four days and demanded the entire record of the case.
Perv is going to wish he'd stayed in Arabia...
On Monday, two-member bench of the IHC comprising Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan and Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui resumed the hearing of the bail plea of Pervez Musharraf in judges’ detention case. Muhammad Ilyas Siddiqui, the lawyer of Pervez Musharraf submitted an application in the court in which it is stated that the anti-terrorism act does not apply to the judges’ detention case. He asked the court how a person who remained president and supreme commander of the armed forces of the country could be ascertained a terrorist. He said that the challan was prepared in the light of statements of those who were not directly affected. There is nothing on the record that can prove that his client gave the orders to house arrest the judges, he said.

The lawyer said that the protestor of the case had declared to withdraw the case from the court and not to proceed further in the case during a press conference, whereas there is no evidence against Pervez Musharraf.

The court adjourned the hearing after issuing notices to all concerned parties. Earlier, Haroon Rashid, son Ghazi Abdul Rashid (late), former Principal of Jamia Faridia at the Lal Masjid, submitted an application in the court through his lawyer Tariq Asad in which he requested the court that the murder case of his father and grandmother had been pending in the court. The application states that there are some media reports that efforts are being made to send Pervez Musharraf abroad hence the hearing of the case may be held at the earliest.

Imtiaz Alam challenges state
Quoted on the front page of Jinnah secretary general of South Asia Free Media Association (SAFMA) Imtiaz Alam stated that unless the state is able to protect the lives of citizens under democracy it will lead to a military takeover. Responding to an earlier statement by President Zardari, he said that no president ever admits lack of state capacity to defend citizens. If conditions will improve by saying that we are not a part of America's war then declare it openly. All religious parties and jihadis should come out in the open and elect Mullah Umar as their leader and put their programme in front of the nation. But if they can't do that then they should not kill innocent Mohammedans in the streets. The state should never openly admit defeat. He said a large army was built in order defend the people of Pakistain. He said today if the MQM was scared of the Taliban then the others will simply surrender (kis bagh ki mooli).

Habib Bank scandal and Mehran Bank scandal
Writing in Dunya Rauf Klasra stated that the Supreme Court had rendered judgement on the Habib Bank scam and not the Mehran Bank scam. Aslam Beg
...occasionally incoherent retired four-star general who was the Chief of Army Staff of the Mighty Pak Army, succeeding the creepy General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, after the latter was rubbed out died in an air crash in 1988. The general was involved up to his hairy ears in the Mehran bank scandal, shuffling millions in public money to buy or lease politicians, and is believed one of the prime movers in the sale of Pak nuclear technology to Iran. He ranks second only to Hamid Gul in the volume and flavor of his anti-Western vitriol..
had asked a Habib Bank officer Younis Habib that he arrange a large sum for bribing IJI in 1990. Younis Habib deposited Rs 14 crore with ISI and MI which was distributed by General Durrani. Mehran Bank scandal was a different scandal. This happened in 1992 when Aslam Beg and Durrani had retired and Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
was prime minister. Younis Habib was kicked out of Habib Bank for fraud but he founded his own bank Mehran Bank with the help of PMLN chief Nawaz Sharif, minister Sartaj Aziz and Sindh chief minister Jam Sadiq Ali. Nawaz Sharif got loans from Mehran Bank for his industries and Sartaj Aziz got a lot (bahut kuchch) for his son Adnan. Jam Sadiq also got crores for letting the bank be opened. There is a list of other recipients in existence. In 1993, after the PPP returned to power, many of its leaders too benefited from Mehran Bank, including President Farooq Leghari.

Mushahid Hussain's dubious wedding gift
Daily Dunya quoted Indian journalist Kuldip Nayar as saying that Mushahid Hussain got him to meet Dr AQ Khan for a crucial revelation about Pakistain's nuclear programme as a 'wedding gift' of Mushahid to the world. Nayar said that Dr Khan was made to cough up the secret of Pakistain's bomb by getting him to fly into a rage. In truth, Pakistain wished to threaten India through Dr Khan. General Zia was not pleased and became angry with Dr Khan.

Fazal Karim's angle on Malala
Leader of Barelvi Sunni Ittehad Council Fazal Karim told Ausaf that the man who tried to kill Malala was in the custody of the US army in Afghanistan, implying that the attack was planned by the Americans. He further said that Taliban were acting on behalf of the US and the government should finish off (qala-qama) the American Taliban.

Admiral who went 'mirasi'
Quoted in Nawa-e-Waqt Admiral (Retd) Javed Iqbal said he had been reduced to the status of a mirasi (low caste praise singer) of Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who who convinced himself that playing cricket qualified him to lead a nuclear-armed nation with severe personality problems...
who had turned into a party despot. He said Imran Khan had imposed slavish-to-America politicians (kuttay nehalanay walay) while he Javed Iqbal had challenged Musharraf (lalkara).

Jews did 9/11
Famous columnist Abdul Qadir Hasan wrote in Express that America was not what it used to be in old times. It had become a tormentor of the world robbing it of peace and tranquillity. The incident of 9/11 was staged by the Jews to make America attack the world of Islam. But some Arab countries still had remnants of ghairat (honour) in them because after some years they staged what is called Arab Spring although in Pakistain nothing of the sort happened because it had no honour. The Arabs had simple guns but in their heart was great emotion (walwala). In Pakistain a leader (Musharraf?) started selling Paks to America because bay-ghairati was common in Pakistain.

'Aslam Beg told me to bribe politicians'
Famous ISI ex-boss General Asad Durrani was quoted in Jang as saying that he was ordered by President Ghulam Ishaq Khan's adviser Ijlal Zaidi and Army Chief Aslam Beg to spend the crores gathered from the donors of Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It may be the largest city in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
as 'chanda' to the IJI politicians. The industrialists of Bloody Karachi were opposed to the return of the PPP to power, he said.

Abida Hussain will return the bribe!
Quoted in Nawa-e-Waqt former minister and senior politician Syeda Abida Hussain stated that she had indeed received money from the ISI in 1990 in order to defeat the PPP in elections. She said she was prepared to return the sum along with interest.

GIK ate a lot of guava
Writing in Dunya famous columnist Haroon Rashid stated that he always revered President Ghulam Ishaq Khan because he was an extraordinary man despite the grave mistakes he had made. He was told by Qazi Hussain Ahmad
... third president (1987—2009) of the Pak Jamaat-e-Islami. Qazi was also head of the Muttahidah Majlis-e-Amal until his ego became bigger than the organization. Qazi is what is known as a fiery preacher, which means he has lots of volume, a good delivery, and not a lot of reverence for coherence. He was the patron of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, Rasool Sayyaf and Osama bin Laden during the war against the Soviets. He used to recommend drining camel's urine to maintain good health before his kidneys started to go...
that GIK would not give him food if he called on him. On the contrary he gave him dinner and himself ate like a trooper despite his old age. Dr AQ Khan reported that GIK was also partial to guava fruit and ate it copiously.

Ijazul Haq renews attack on Aslam Beg
Quoted in Ausaf son of late General Zia, Ijazul Haq said that ex-Army Chief Aslam Beg was the criminal mastermind of the Bahawalpur air-crash that killed his father. He vowed that he would take the death of his father at the hands of Aslam Beg to the Supreme Court.

Religious organizations attack school
Reported in Nawa-e-Waqt religious organizations in Lahore got together and attacked a private school Farooqi Girls High School after parents protested that a teacher had distributed blasphemous material among students in the class. Instead of recourse to law the parents began agitation and were soon joined by religious elements who set fire to the school and its van before taking to the roads and stoning the passing cars. The police lathi-charged the mob then placed in long-term storage
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
the principal-owner of the school who said the whole affair was a plot to close down his school. It was discovered that the papers distributed in class were wrongly stapled.

Chief news hound attacks fashion shows
Chief news hound of daily The News wrote in Jang that fashion shows and catwalks were being organised in the beginning of the month of Hajj which was a sacred month in the Islamic calendar. Allah had given Mohammedans opportunity of avoiding the fire of Hell but the catwalks were promoting nakedness (uriani) and shamelessness (bay-hayai). According to him, he had earlier written a column about this obscenity which was greatly praised by people in Pakistain, leading to a notice by the Supreme Court which ordered the stoppage of all obscenity on the media. Yet the TV channels went on showing half-naked fashion models in violation of the Constitution. Bloody Karachi became the hub of this lascivious activity but 'no louse crawled on the ears of the Bloody Karachi administration' (had no effect).

former chief Qazi Hussian Ahmad has said that his party will continue political activities in tribal areas to frustrate nefarious designs of enemies.

Addressing a public gathering at Khapakh locality in Heleemzai tehsil on Monday, he said that the US and its allies wanted to create law and order situation in the tribal areas to prolong their presence in the region.

He alleged that the US and other anti-Islam forces had formed a network of their agents in the tribal areas to harm interests of Pakistain and pit tribal people against each other.

On the occasion, the office of Jamaat-e-Islami in Mohmand Agency was inaugurated and name of new chief of the party in the tribal region was announced.

Qazi Hussain addressed the public meeting despite a suicide attack on his convoy. He said that through such cowardly acts they couldn't be stopped from running their campaign. He said that they would expose America to Pak nation as well as the whole world.

"This is my third visit within a year to Mohmand tribal region. It shows the interest being taken by my party in the backward area," the former chief of Jamaat-e-Islami said.

He also criticised the government for its pro-America policies. He said that people were the ultimate sufferers of the so-called war against terrorism. He said that the prevailing crises would continue if the government didn't sever ties with America and come out of the war against terrorism.

Qazi Hussain said that the worsening law and order was badly affecting economy of the country. He said that the US considered itself champion of human rights

What we did wrong
Writing in Jang Nazir Naji stated that Pakistain was disturbed about Indian presence in Afghanistan and told the US that it should not be increased beyond a certain level. But then after Salala, Pakistain took too long deciding new terms of engagement with the US. That allowed India to get a better deal in Afghanistan with the consent of the NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants...
states, which saw Pakistain as being obstructive.

PPP and Army to blame
A leader of PMLN, Khurram Dastgir, told Express that the scandal of reopening the NATO supply route without proper conditions was the creation of both Pakistain Army and the PPP government. They ignored the parliamentary guidelines and allowed the Americans to drive a one-sided bargain.

India did it!
Quoted by Nawa-e-Waqt Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah stated that the Lahore killing of jail staff of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa
... formerly NWFP, still Terrorism Central...
could be the work of India. After the Taliban announcement that they had killed the jail staff because they had been cruel to Taliban prisoners, it is presumed that India had bribed the Taliban - together with the US - to get them to kill innocent Paks.

Justice Sharif's dues
Daily Nawa-e-Waqt reported that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was unfair when he wrote off the arrears of the house rent of ex-DG FIA Major Mushtaq, but did not do so in the case of former Lahore High Court chief justice Khwaja Sharif, who had overstayed in his official residence. He owed rent to the government and had received a notice asking him to pay up.

Betrayal after Salala
Columnist Hamid Mir wrote in Jang that Pakistain Army and the PPP government had reopened the NATO supply route in a very mysterious and non-transparent way. After Salala, Indo-Pak tensions mounted. They were lessened by Pakistain by releasing Indian spy Surjeet Singh, but India responded by unleashing the scandal of Abu Jandal, an Indian Moslem who it said was involved in the Mumbai attack and had also met Hafiz Muhammad Saeed
...who would be wearing a canvas jacket with very long sleeves anyplace but Pakistain...
in Faisalabad
...formerly known as Lyallpur, the third largest metropolis in Pakistain, the second largest in Punjab after Lahore. It is named after some Arab because the Paks didn't have anybody notable of their own to name it after...
, thus implicating Hafiz Muhammad Saeed in terrorism.

Sheikh Rashid should join Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who isn't your heaviest-duty thinker, maybe not even among the top five...

Columnist Nusrat Javeed wrote in Express that Sheikh Rashid who had eaten 900 rats (Urdu idiom) should now join Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
of Imran Khan especially after Imran Khan had had a recent meeting with Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
chief Syed Munawwar Hasan, which could be the sign of a new direction for the Defence of Pakistain Council where Sheikh Rashid is always present.

Judiciary soft on the Sharifs
Firebrand Information Minister Sindh Sharjeel Memon told Express that the judiciary in Pakistain was favouring the PMLN and their leadership but the PPP was being supported by the 18 million people of Pakistain.

Shoaib Akhtar wants to wed Meera!
Quoted in Express, famous Pak filmstar Meera said that she was going to wed Captain Naveed but it was spoiled by ex-cricketer Shaoib Akhtar who was keen to marry her. She said she herself was keen on Shoaib Akhtar but he was responsible for obstructions in her plans to marry the US-based pilot.

AQ Khan and El Baradei
Famous columnist Abdul Qadir Hasan wrote in Express that famous Pak nuclear scientist and father of the bomb Dr AQ Khan had written that Egypt was thankfully rid of El Baradei who was an American agent hoping to become president of Egypt. El Baradei was head of the international nuclear authority IAEA that had raised objection to Dr Khan's project in Pakistain.
But he carefully did not raise those objections until it was too late for anything to be done, the darling man, and then only mutedly.
Egypt should learn that when the Americans were done with exploiting Musharraf they dumped him.

When the columnist burst into tears
Writing in Express, Abdul Qadir Hasan stated that he was lucky enough to see the mosque in Damascus
...The place where Pencilneck hangs his brass hat...
where Imam Ghazali wrote his famous book. He had seen all the world as a journalist but the joy he experienced in Central Asia he did not feel anywhere else. He visited the tomb of Imam Bukhari whose book of traditions was among the most beloved books in Islam. Hasan was so overcome that he burst into loud sobs (cheekhain nikal gaeen). He could not bear the greatness of the man who had compiled a book next only to the Koran.

But maulvis get scared!
Daily Express had columnist Abdul Qadir Hasan state that the state of Pakistain was great but lacked a great nation. These days a movement against America was launched by the holy mans of the country. They may be accused of anything but not of corruption. Corruption is a talent which also requires dishonesty. And the maulvis are free of those ills; yet they tend to get scared and draw back.

Wukla go berserk
Reported in Express, lawyers fell on the office bearers of Punjab Bar Council and broke the furniture of the room of the committee which had given a different verdict than they wanted in the case of insult to a lady lawyer. The wukla people were aroused to fury and shouted that the servants of the Bar had maltreated them as a result of which they had resorted to vandalism.

No words to describe insulted honour
World famous columnist Haroon Rashid wrote in Jang that Pakistain government was seeking comfort and was scared to struggle for truth and honour. Moslems had been complaining about this since the Mughal times. And now the reopening of NATO supply route had aroused the same feeling of hurt honour. This desire for comfort was forcing Moslems to lose their honour.

American kick in our face
Columnist Talat Husain wrote in Express that by saying sorry the way it did America had kicked Pakistain in the face. All observers of the region were agreed that America made an obscene gesture in the direction of Pakistain and then told it to get lost (apna rasta naapo). After this maltreatment the government with a parliamentary majority reopened the NATO supply route and did not even ask to be paid for the trucks passing through it. It is said that the Army was not happy with the way the apology was composed and made the Americans change its draft many times.

Causes of supply route opening
Columnist Saleem Safi wrote in Jang that the US wanted a deal with Hamid Maybe I'll join the Taliban Karzai
... A former Baltimore restaurateur, now 12th and current President of Afghanistan, displacing the legitimate president Rabbani in December 2004. He was installed as the dominant political figure after the removal of the Taliban regime in late 2001 in a vain attempt to put a Pashtun face on the successor state to the Taliban. After the 2004 presidential election, he was declared president regardless of what the actual vote count was. He won a second, even more dubious, five-year-term after the 2009 presidential election. His grip on reality has been slipping steadily since around 2007, probably from heavy drug use...
but not on his terms. When Pakistain delayed its decision on the NATO route the Americans gave Karzai what he wanted after which Karzai made a long term defence deal with them, allowing the Americans to keep some troops in Afghanistan till 2224. Pakistain reopened the NATO route because the member states other than the US were in a hurry to get out of Afghanistan.

Imran Khan plays like Misbahul Haq
Writing in Express Talat Husain stated that Imran Khan should have reacted strongly to the reopening of the NATO route but he did not. He should have hit sixers but he actually played like Misbahul Haq. His bat is straight but the ball is not going more than a few yards. When he put his analysis to Tehrik-e-Insaf leaders they did not like it.
