Five suicide attacks' suspects acquitted
2010-06-10
Anti Terrorist Court-I (ATC-1) on Wednesday acquitted 5 accused in the Islamabad district courts and the Aabpara Market suicide bombing cases for want of incriminating evidence.
Unless they actually explode there's never enough evidence.
It is pertinent to mention here that during the lawyers' movement for the restoration of judiciary, terrorists carried out a suicide attack on Islamabad district courts just before the arrival of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. Later the law-enforcement agencies apprehended Fasihullah, Imdad Hussain and Qasim Mushtaq for their alleged involvement in the attack. The Capital Territory Police also arrested two other accused Tehseen Abbas and Faisal Mushtaq regarding a bomb that went off at Aabpara Chowk.

Bail pleas of Islamabad bombing accused rejected
2007-10-31
Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Habibur Rehman on Tuesday rejected the bail applications of the accused in the Aabpara Market and F-8 Markaz bomb blast cases. The accused include Faisal Mushtaq, Qasim Mushtaq, Fasihullah and Imdad Hussain.

Initially, the accused were booked on August 22 by Bhara Kahu police station under Section 34 of the Explosive Act of Pakistan for keeping explosive material. Later, Margalla and Aabpara police stations also registered the Aabpara Market and F-8 Markaz blasts cases against them. The accused had filed bail applications with the ATC a month ago. The court had fixed October 25 as the bail applications’ hearing date and ordered the Bhara Kahu police to present their complete record on the date of hearing. On October 25, the accused were presented before the court but the Bhara Kahu police did not present the record to the court and the hearing was adjourned for October 30.

During the October 25 hearing, Margalla and Aabpara police had sought physical remand of the accused. DSP Malik Mumtaz Hussain had arrested brothers Faisal Mushtaq and Qasim Mushtaq on August 22 from Behra Bridge, Bhara Kahu. Police presented them before the ATC on August 23 and they were sent to Adiala Jail on 14-day judicial remand. They were then shifted to Faisalabad Jail without the permission of the court.

The ATC took serious note of the situation and ordered the police to present the accused before it. However, the Bhara Kahu police did not present complete records and medical reports of the accused before the court despite repeated orders. The court has now fixed November 6 as the new date of hearing for the explosives case.

Pakistani police arrest 3 more suspected conspirators in suicide attacks
2007-08-23
(Xinhua) -- Another three conspirators allegedly involved in two suicide attacks in the capital in July were arrested on Wednesday, Islamabad Police Chief Iftikhar Ahmed Chaudhry said. Talking to reporters at a news briefing, Chaudhry said that the three were arrested from an area in Islamabad called Bhara Kahu on Wednesday. Chaudhry said that two suicide jackets, some hand grenades and pistols were also recovered from them.

The Pakistani authorities confirmed Tuesday that the law enforcing agencies had arrested two terrorists who were directly involved in the Islamabad suicide bombing attacks in July. "I can say that the operating network has been busted and the immediate threat is at least reduced. There are five more people of this network who are still wanted by the police," Chaudhry said.

A suicide bomber blew himself up among a group of policemen during clashes at the Lal Masjid, or the Red Mosque, in Pakistan's capital Islamabad, killing at least 15 people and wounding scores of people on July 27. In another suicide bombing attack in Islamabad on July 17, at least 13 people were killed and more than 30 injured near the venue of convention of lawyers to celebrate the reinstatement of Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry. Chaudhry said that precautionary measures would continue in future as threat had not completely ended.

More, from Pak Daily Times
ISLAMABAD: The capital city police on Wednesday arrested three people allegedly involved in last month’s suicide attacks on a lawyers’ convention in Islamabad and on the Police Training School in Sargodha, in which 44 people were killed.

Islamabad Police Inspector General (IGP) Iftikhar Ahmad Chaudhry said at a press conference that Fasiullah and brothers Faisal Mushtaq and Qasim Mushtaq were arrested in the limits of Bhara Kahu Police Station. Two suicide jackets were seized from them, he said. The IGP said Fasiullah, believed to have links with Waziristan suicide attackers, could be the ringleader. He said the two Mushtaq brothers might have associations with Lal Masjid.

Fasiullah is from DI Khan and the two brothers from Alipur Frash, a village on the outskirts of Islamabad, he added. Earlier, on August 20, the police arrested Imdad Hussain and Nasir Mehmood for their alleged connections with terrorist activities. Chaudhry said two hand grenades and two pistols were recovered from them.

The IGP said police had “busted” a terrorist network in the city, but five members of the network were still at large. “I can say that the operating network has been busted and the immediate threat has at least been reduced. There are five more people of this network who are still wanted by the police.”

UK's first Muslim MP quits over death threats
2007-06-22
A Labour MP has revealed that he is stepping down after getting death threats linked to a gang he helped convict for a racist murder.

His decision came after his family was threatened by a gang linked to racist murderers Imran Shahid, Zeeshan Shahid and Mohammed Faisal Mushtaq.

Mohammad Sarwar was Britain’s first Muslim MP. He has told party activists he will not be contesting his Glasgow Central seat at the next election.

The 54-year-old said his decision came after his family was threatened by a gang linked to racist murderers Imran Shahid, Zeeshan Shahid and Mohammed Faisal Mushtaq.

The three were jailed for life last year for their part in the killing of Glasgow teenager Kriss Donald, who was kidnapped, tortured and killed in Glasgow in 2004. Mr Sarwar was instrumental in arranging the extradition of the trio after they fled to Pakistan.

Three ["Asian Men"] found guilty of Glasgow race-hate murder
2006-11-09

Three Asian men (guess which part of "Asia") were today found guilty and jailed for life for the murder of Kriss Donald, the schoolboy who was BURNED ALIVE and killed in a brutal racially-aggravated attack. Imran Shahid, his brother Zeeshan Shahid, and Mohammed Faisal Mushtaq, had denied the charge but were convicted of the abduction, assault and murder of the 15-year-old at the High Court in Edinburgh. A jury of six men and nine women took eight hours to find Imran Shahid guilty by unanimous verdict and the other two guilty by majority verdicts. Imran Shahid, 29, was ordered to spend at least 25 years behind bars while his brother was given 23 years, and 27-year-old Mushtaq handed 22 years.
(I thought they said "jailed for life"? Kriss would probably have lived for a lot longer than just 25 years. Why aren't these assholes actually going to spend the rest of their natural lives in prison?)
During the trial, it emerged that all three had spent time in custody for previous offences. Kriss’s scarred and partially-clothed body was discovered on the Clyde Walkway in the East End of Glasgow, near Celtic FC’s training ground, on March 16, 2004. The previous day, he had been abducted, stabbed repeatedly and set on fire while he was still alive.

Three Pakistanis convicted of murdering Scottish boy
2006-11-09
A Scottish court on Wednesday convicted three Pakistanis of kidnapping and murdering a white schoolboy, whom they stabbed repeatedly and set on fire, and jailed them for at least 22 years each. The three had fled to Pakistan following the brutal March 15, 2004, killing of 15-year-old Kriss Donald, before they were arrested and sent back to Britain last year in a special deal in the absence of an extradition treaty. A jury at the High Court in Edinburgh took almost eight hours to convict Imran Shahid (29), his brother Zeeshan Shahid (28) and Mohammed Faisal Mushtaq (27). Following the intervention of a Scottish politician, authorities in Pakistan handed the men over to Britain for questioning in October last year after their arrest several months earlier. The British High Commission in Islamabad said at the time it was the first case of its kind because Pakistan had no formal extradition agreement with Britain, and had only been able to act after lengthy talks and a change in the law.

Pakistan gives 3 suspects to UK
2005-10-06
Law-enforcement agencies handed over three Pakistanis to British authorities on Wednesday for the Pakistanis’ alleged involvement in the murder of a British national. Officials of the Special Investigation Unit handed over Imran Shahid, Zeeshan Shahid and Faisal Mushtaq to the British authorities, and the three were later sent to the UK on flight BA 128. Three people, who had been studying in the UK, allegedly killed British student Kriss Donald on a petty issue in March 2004 and later flew to Pakistan. A British court declared them absconders during the proceedings of the case and asked the authorities concerned to contact the Pakistani government regarding the issue. After six month long consultations, Pakistani authorities handed over the alleged killers to the UK.

The visiting British secretary of state for defence, John Reid, also discussed this matter with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, sources told Daily Times. The Pakistani government had amended the act of extradition and handed over the accused to the British authorities, they said. The accused had been arrested from Lahore six months ago and were later shifted to Adiala Jail, sources stated.
