In reference to this story and this story at rantburg.com in 2016.

[ColonelCassad] The NYT reports that SBU Colonel Voronich, who was killed yesterday in Kiev by an unknown shooter, was involved in organizing the murder of Sparta Battalion commander Arsen Pavlov (call sign "Motorola"). If this is true, then retribution for the murder of "Motor" came 9 years later. But of course, Voronich was not the only one involved, so...

"Motorola" was blown up in an elevator in Donetsk in 2016 after a series of unsuccessful assassination attempts.

'Positions in plain sight.' Russian Armed Forces advance in Zaporizhia Oblast
2025-07-10
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Sergey Adamov

[REGNUM] In recent days, the reports from the SVO area increasingly feature the section of the front in the Zaporizhia region, which was on everyone's lips during the failed counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in June-October 2023 and since then has remained a zone of heavy positional battles. But since last week, there have been reports of our troops advancing specifically in the Zaporizhia direction.

Thus, during a fierce assault, Russian troops managed to drive the enemy out of the village of Lobkovoe in the Stepnogorsk district, approximately one and a half kilometers from the Kakhovka reservoir, which had become shallow after the explosion of the hydroelectric power station. Then, "on the shoulders" of the retreating units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Russian Armed Forces fighters liberated the large village of Kamenskoye on the left bank of the Dnieper.

Kamenskoye often featured in Ukrainian reports in June-September 2023 as one of the few local successes of the "counteroffensive." At that time, our military had to abandon positions in the southern part of the village, which they had held since the beginning of the SVO.

Now the loss of Kamenskoye and the village of Lobkovoe is confirmed by Ukrainian sources.

Developing the offensive along the river bank, Russian troops reached the outskirts of the settlement of Plavni.

The advance of the assault troops continues along the Zaporizhzhia-Melitopol railway. According to local reports, the enemy was driven from the embankment between the 1138th km and 1141st km stations.

Earlier, the villages of Stepovoye and Shcherbaki were liberated in the same direction. Thus, the front line moved forward by three to five kilometers.

The advanced units of the Russian army were able to advance towards the strategically important urban-type settlement of Stepnogorsk.

There are no more than three kilometers from our positions to the outskirts of Stepnogorsk. Ukrainian sources report that Ukrainian Armed Forces facilities within the village are now constantly under attack from Russian UAVs and artillery.

Maintaining the pace of the offensive in this section of the front creates serious threats to the enemy’s defense, an informed source told Regnum news agency.

"The terrain is mostly flat and steppe. There is nowhere to hide, the positions are in plain sight. So control over populated areas and heights is of crucial importance. The floodplains are mostly summer cottages, without high-rise buildings. So now they are trying to form a new front along the Primorskoye-Stepnogorsk-Lukyanovskoye-Pavlovka line, but they are facing a shortage of forces in this direction," our interlocutor noted.

Stepnogorsk is located just 20 kilometers from the southern outskirts of Zaporizhia. There are no large settlements or powerful natural barriers in this area that the Ukrainian Armed Forces could use to organize defense.

However, an easy advance to Zaporizhia is not yet to be expected. The enemy's actions indicate that the Ukrainian Armed Forces commanders are planning to organize a counteroffensive and try to push our military beyond the Yanchekrak River (a tributary of the Dnieper that flows into the Kamenskoye area and divides this village in half).

TOLSTOY AND MIRNOE
The Russian troop group "East" continues to develop its offensive from the area of Velikaya Novosyolka in the southwest of the DPR to the border with the Dnepropetrovsk region.

Thus, last week, forces of the 36th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 29th Army occupied the village of Poddubnoye, located with the previously liberated settlements of Krasnaya Zvezda (Zirka), Yalta and Zaporozhye.

According to information from the field, the enemy did not engage in protracted battles and retreated after a short firefight. Immediately after this, Russian troops liberated the settlement of Tolstoy. Moreover, here too, the enemy decided not to hold positions to the last and also retreated. The Ukrainian Armed Forces command withdrew the surviving fighters to the area of the villages of Novokhatskoye, Iskra and Grushevskoye.

Russian troops, in turn, continue their offensive in the direction of the settlement of Mirnoye, sources on the ground report.

"Now that Poddubnoye has been liberated, and before that Komar, the enemy in Mirny has found itself in a dense fire pocket. It will be extremely difficult to organize a defense there, and we expect that the enemy will soon retreat from there as well. Military actions are also continuing in Voskresenka. So there is a chance to take the enemy in Mirny into a full-fledged cauldron," adds the interlocutor of IA Regnum.

The enemy's last defensive node was created by the enemy in the area of the villages of Novokhatskoe and Grushevskoe, however, the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are under constant shelling, and unmanned aircraft are actively operating along the enemy's supply routes. Earlier, Russian Aerospace Forces bombers struck the bridge over the Volchya River on the N-15 highway, which seriously disrupted the enemy's logistics in Donbass.

After clearing the small part of the territory of the southwest of the DPR from the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which still remains under enemy control, our troops have the opportunity to enter the territory of the Zaporizhzhya and Dnepropetrovsk regions in several directions.

KRASNOARMEYSK: BATTLES FOR THE LAST ARTERY
Russian troops are increasing the pace of their offensive in another strategically important area - in the Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) area. The city itself and the surrounding settlements have been turned by the Ukrainian Armed Forces into a powerful fortified area, the assault on which could lead to heavy losses. But the Russian Armed Forces are continuing the operation to block the enemy's supply routes in Krasnoarmeysk, while simultaneously attacking the enemy along the entire front line.

North of the city, the advanced units of the Russian army crossed the Kazenny Torets River, creating a bridgehead in the area of the village of Razino. To the south, the assault units of the Russian army managed to break through the enemy's front line and engage in fighting on the streets of the settlement of Novoekonomicheskoe, one of the suburbs of Krasnoarmeysk. Here, the Armed Forces of Ukraine created a powerful defensive line.

A number of Ukrainian sources, more pessimistic, claim that most of Novoekonomichesky has already passed into the "gray zone". The front line runs along Sadovaya Street. The loss of Novoekonomichesky creates serious threats to the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Krasnoarmeysk. At the same time, success in the Razino area creates the preconditions for a breakthrough to the village of Rodinskoye and the highway connecting Krasnoarmeysk with the territory of the Kharkov region.

In the near future, the entire Krasnoarmeysky fortified area of the Ukrainian Armed Forces may find itself semi-encircled, and in the future, in a full encirclement.

For now, the M-30 highway, which connects Krasnoarmeysk with the territory of the Dnepropetrovsk region, remains under enemy control. The enemy is trying with all its might to prevent the loss of control over the strategically important transport artery, so all reserves arriving at this section of the front are taking up positions along the highway.

But other sections of the front remain without reinforcements.

East of Krasnoarmeysk, Russian troops continue their offensive on another Ukrainian Armed Forces defense node — the city of Konstantinovka. Combat operations continue along the Aleksandro-Kalinovo — Kleban-byk — Dyleevka front line.

According to information from the field, Russian troops are storming the village of Belaya Gora. The ongoing offensive of Russian troops may in the foreseeable future lead to the situation on the front, which is difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, becoming critical, The New York Times admits.

Konstantinovka is the southernmost boundary of a large defensive area, which also includes the settlements of Slavyansk, Kramatorsk and Druzhkovka. In the event of the loss of Konstantinovka, all settlements to the north will be within the reach of Russian drones. Which will bring the liberation of Donbass closer.

The publication notes that Ukrainian troops can still hold back the pace of the Russian offensive, but are suffering heavy losses. The lack of reserves may soon lead to the encirclement of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in one or more areas of the front. The publication concludes that military actions in the area of Konstantinovka and Krasnoarmeysk and in Donbass as a whole in the coming weeks may change the course of military operations.

Let us add that, in general, our troops are increasing their offensive on several sections of the front from the Kharkov to the Zaporizhia region. Earlier it became known that in June the Russian Armed Forces liberated 556 square kilometers of Donbas territory.

Kommunist Party Russian Federation Recognizes Khrushchev's report as 'politically erroneous'
2025-07-07
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin:

[ColonelCassad] At the congress, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation is going to call on Putin to rename Volgograd to Stalingrad. Putin has previously spoken out on this issue, pointing out that it is up to the city's residents to decide. Now the city is renamed Stalingrad several times a year for holidays and this year the city airport was named Stalingrad.

They also finally decided to review the results of the 20th Congress and recognize Khrushchev's report on Stalin as erroneous and politically biased.

In fact, Khrushchev's report was more than a mistake - it caused enormous damage to both the USSR and the entire socialist camp. In 2026, it will be 70 years since the 20th Congress. It's time to call a spade a spade.

More details from Boris Rozhin:
Communist Party of the Russian Federation officially condemned Khrushchev's report at the 20th Congress of the CPSU

Yesterday evening, after discussions, the CPRF officially recognized Khrushchev's report "On Stalin's Personality Cult" as a serious mistake.

Zyuganov in his speech called Khrushchev's report a crime against the peoples of the USSR.

Yes, all this is very late, of course, but better late than never. Khrushchev with his "de-Stalinization" campaign caused enormous damage to the USSR, the Soviet bloc and the international communist movement. One of the greatest ideological sabotage of the 20th century. It took our Communist Party 69 years to officially recognize this. Well, I repeat - "mistake" is putting it mildly. We are still dealing with many of the consequences of that policy.
Oboy — it’s an interesting world when Stalin is thought right after all.
Also at the congress, Zyuganov was re-elected as the head of the CPRF. Considering that during the war real political life was practically at a standstill, in the current reality this is not so critical. Talk about updating the party leadership has been going on for a long time. Zyuganov himself is already over 80, although when he was recently at the 2nd anti-fascist forum in Moscow, he gave quite a vigorous speech there. I will also note that one of the friends, who is also a reader of the magazine, was approved as a candidate for membership in the Central Committee.

Another noteworthy event was the presence at the congress of Kiriyenko, who oversees domestic policy and spoke at the podium with a portrait of Lenin. In addition to the protocol message from Putin, Kiriyenko in his speech noted the patriotic position of the CPRF in supporting the SVO and many years of work on delivering humanitarian aid to Donbass. Dozens of party members died at the front. The main message is the need for a stable rear to achieve victory in the war against Nazism.

He did not elaborate on the recent excrements of the Black Hundreds
…the nationalist supporters of the Romanovs in the early days of the Russian Revolution who unsuccessfully fought the Communists…
that are splitting this very unity.

Generally speaking, in the coming years, the participation/assistance of the army in the SVO will play a pressing role in matters of domestic policy and elections. The "SVO Participant" card is already in high demand among people who plan their political careers in advance (including by means of forgery). Accordingly, active assistance from the SVO for the CPRF may become a guarantee of improved results in the next elections.

Strengthening the Foundation: Constitutional Change Prepared Russia for the Special Military Operation
2025-07-05
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Kirill Dvanov

[REGNUM] Five years ago, on July 4, 2020, the updated version of the Russian Constitution came into force. The amendments to the Basic Law — which citizens approved in a nationwide vote and which the president approved by his decision — were not just a “legal fact.”

The main document of the country, adopted back in 1993, now reflects modern realities. But the main thing is that the changes made to the Constitution also change the life of the country, determining its future. Five years after the amendments were approved, this is becoming obvious.

POTENTIAL IS NOT EXHAUSTED, DEVELOPMENT IS NECESSARY
At the beginning of 2020, when a discussion arose in society on the topic of “Is it time to adopt a new Constitution or significantly change the current one?”, Russia faced new challenges. The pandemic tested the country's economy and social security system, and the sanctions pressure of “Western partners” exacerbated the issue of protecting the country's sovereignty. The state and society faced serious tests, which meant that the country's legislative foundation required strengthening.

"More than a quarter of a century has passed since the adoption of the 1993 Constitution. Social and state realities have changed so much since then that at a certain point society demanded that these changes be reflected in the basic law," Pavel Krasheninnikov, head of the State Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation, told Regnum News Agency.

It is therefore not surprising that proposals to update the Constitution became the main topic in the message that Vladimir Putin addressed to legislators on January 15, 2020. The President, we recall, then indicated that a number of political and public associations were raising the issue of a new Basic Law.

"I would like to answer right away - I believe that there is no such need," the head of state clarified." The potential of the 1993 Constitution is far from exhausted, and the fundamental foundations of the constitutional order, human rights and freedoms, I hope, will remain a solid value base for Russian society for many decades to come."

The country's leader then explained how, from his point of view, the Constitution should be developed and strengthened for the sake of "further development of Russia as a legal social state in which the highest value is the freedoms and rights of citizens, human dignity, and well-being." Putin formulated ten proposals for amendments - or rather, for entire blocks of these amendments and additions.

Among the things that the president announced at the time were: guarantees of the priority of Russian laws over international agreements, a ban on foreign citizenship for senior officials (as well as for parliamentarians and judges), and the consolidation of a "link" between authorities and local government. The head of state also mentioned a clear list of powers of the State Council, tougher requirements for candidates for the post of president, and an expansion of the powers of the chambers of parliament.

WE DECIDED IT TOGETHER
But the process of updating the Constitution was not limited to the president's proposals. The main thing that the country's leader pointed out on January 15, 2020, was that the amendments should take shape after discussion in society. On the same day, Putin ordered the creation of a working group, which included not only lawyers and officials, but also public figures and experts in various fields. Any citizen could submit proposals.

Thus, in addition to the changes developed by specialists, "people's amendments" appeared in the project. They secured the special role of family values and the Russian language, they spoke about the inalienability of Russian territories, about the state's responsibility for preserving nature. The supplemented and new articles of the Constitution, which included "people's amendments", significantly changed the appearance of the Basic Law.

"The culture and history of Russia are now under the jurisdiction of the entire state, and not regions or public organizations. Also, thanks to these amendments, Russia affirms traditional spiritual and moral values as immutable and universally binding," noted Irina Velikanova, head of the Public Chamber's commission on culture and preservation of spiritual heritage and general director of the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia, in an interview with IA Regnum.

"The institutions of marriage, labor, and traditional religions should no longer be challenged as correct and the only true ones for the development of society. For the first time in the history of constitutional law in Russia, the Russian people and the Russian language as state-forming values have found their reflection," Velikanova emphasizes.

The project passed its main test on June 25 - July 1, 2020, when the all-Russian vote took place. Of the 67.9%, or almost 58 million Russians who cast their votes, the amendments were approved by an overwhelming majority - 77.9%. The will of the citizens was approved by the president, who signed a decree on July 3, 2020, thanks to which the amendments came into effect the next day.

REPAIR OF THE "FASTENING FRAME"
Next, deputies and senators had to update and “reboot” the current laws.

Over the past 5 years, more than two hundred documents have been adopted that change our legislation, bringing it into line with the new requirements of the Constitution, explained Deputy Krasheninnikov. The latest law, which concerns local self-government, came into force the other day.

"The amendments stabilized the changes that had taken place over the three decades since the adoption of the country's Basic Law. The changes provided an opportunity for further movement forward - slowly and not fragmentarily, as was sometimes suggested, but systematically," the interlocutor emphasizes.

The amendments made the very structure of our legislation clearer - "federal and regional laws complement and develop each other, eliminating legal uncertainty," Krasheninnikov noted. In 2021, he and his colleagues adopted a law that, developing the new section of the Constitution on the State Council, more clearly defined how this "platform" works, where heads of regions and representatives of the federal center discuss how the country's foreign and domestic policy will develop.

The fact that the work of the power mechanism and its “coupling” with society became more coordinated has justified itself both during the COVID crisis and, perhaps even more so, with the beginning of the Cold War. The Western countries that set the Kiev regime against Russia clearly expected to shake the “building” of Russian statehood, but it turned out to be stable thanks to the “repaired” framework. Not least of all thanks to the articles protecting sovereignty, including from various kinds of foreign agents.

At the same time, let us recall that the Constitution prescribed the authorities to support patriotic civil initiatives, public organizations and volunteer movements. Volunteers who worked during the pandemic and those who during the SVO help our new fellow citizens in Donbass and Novorossiya operate in the "field" created by the updated Constitution.

Now, when former “partners” are tightening sanctions, articles that require the state to support domestic science and medicine are playing an increasingly important role.

PEOPLE FELT THE CHANGES THEMSELVES
The updated Constitution not only more clearly defined the “rules of the game” at the level of ministers, deputies and governors (now that they are prohibited from having dual citizenship and accounts abroad, it will no longer be possible to be a “servant of two masters”). The changes also affected ordinary Russians, including those who need special care from the state.

The amendments, which concern increasing the state's responsibility for social guarantees, made annual increases in pensions and benefits mandatory, noted deputy Krasheninnikov. In order to make sure that the amendments are working, it is enough to refer to the data on the government website.

The Basic Law requires pensions to be indexed taking into account inflation. And, for example, in 2020, the social part of these payments was “increased” by 6.1%, in April of last year — by 7.5%, and a year later, in April 2025, by 14.75%.

The same applies to insurance pensions, which are indexed annually: for example, at the beginning of 2024 by 7.5%, and this New Year by another 7.5% (plus a one-time payment of 10 thousand rubles to all pensioners in February).

According to the requirements of the updated Constitution, the minimum wage is linked to the subsistence minimum and pension indexation.

On the government website you can see: if on January 1, 2020 the minimum wage in Russia was 12,130 rubles, then over the past five years this figure has “grown” more than once — by an average of 13% per year. This year the minimum wage is already 22,440 rubles.

THE EXPLOITS OF THE PEOPLE ARE FORBIDDEN TO BE REVIEWED
The state guarantees that it will not abandon people in the most difficult conditions and, what is no less important, the government is obliged to follow the principles that are common to most people. Yes, the Constitution still has an article prohibiting the establishment of a state ideology in Russia.

The correctness of this position was confirmed, among other things, by the fact that on the fronts of the SVO, Russia is equally bravely defended by people of the most diverse views, worldviews and party affiliations. But at the same time, the Basic Law enshrined what is dear to all of us.

"It's been 5 years already! Today we are convinced that our citizens made the right choice. First of all, I would like to talk about the humanitarian amendments, about those innovations that affected the spiritual sphere of society's life, " Elena Velikanova emphasizes. " The country's basic law has finally enshrined a national view of history. Russia, according to the basic law, is now a country with a 1,000-year history, and not a formation that arose out of nowhere in 1991. The essence of Russia's historical existence is the feats of our people, which are prohibited from being revised."

'The map update will be disappointing.' The Ukrainian Armed Forces are being pushed back in three directions
2025-07-02
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Sergey Adamov

[REGNUM] The territory of the Luhansk People's Republic has been completely liberated from the Ukrainian Armed Forces — this was announced by the head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik on July 1. According to him, the report on the 100% liberation of the republic came "literally two days ago."

On June 23, there were reports that our troops had driven the enemy out of the village of Petrovskoye (in Ukrainian terminology, Grekovka) near the border of the LPR and Kharkiv Oblast. Reaching this line allows our military to develop a further offensive both in the Kharkiv Oblast — to consolidate along the Oskol River — and in the DPR — in the direction of the city of Krasny Liman.

Russian military forces continue to push back the enemy in other areas - in Donbass and Sumy Oblast, where the outlines of border buffer zones are gradually taking shape.

WEST OF THE DPR: THE FRONT BEGINS TO CRUMBLE
As before, the situation on the front section 80-85 kilometers west of Donetsk is actively changing in our favor. After the liberation of the village of Komar near the border with the Dnepropetrovsk region, fighters of the "Vostok" group crossed the Mokrye Yaly River and took a bridgehead on the right bank.

During the assault, our military managed to quickly drive the enemy out of the village of Krasnaya Zvezda (in Ukrainian documents the village is called Zirka - Star). This is already the fifth settlement occupied by Vostok units over the past week - after the villages of Komar, Perebudova and two settlements - "namesakes" of famous cities - Yalta and Zaporozhye.

The rapid pace of the offensive allowed them to take control of the military-important area between the Volchya River and its left tributary, Mokrye Yalami. The Ukrainian Armed Forces command planned to turn both water barriers into defensive lines, but the rapid "rollback" of the front prevented this from happening.

Our troops are advancing in the direction of several villages near the border of the DPR with the Dnepropetrovsk region: Shevchenko, Burlatskoye and Volnoye Pole.

Enemy sources admit that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defense in the southwest of the former Donetsk region has begun to crumble. "The next map update will be disappointing," notes the Kiev-based analytical resource DeepState.

According to information from the field, the enemy is trying to stabilize the defense in the Poddubnoye-Mirnoye area, where units that retreated from the Komar village area are gathering. In order to complicate the supply of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this area, our aviation is constantly striking rear communications. Thus, the bridge over the Volchya River on the N-15 highway, along which supplies were coming from the Dnipropetrovsk region to the Ukrainian Armed Forces group in the far west of Donbass, was destroyed.

DNIPROPETROVSK REGION: THE FIRST VILLAGE IN THE "BUFFER"
In parallel with the liberation of the western regions of the DPR, our troops are advancing on the adjacent territory, forming a protective "buffer". According to information from the field, the village of Dachnoye was captured - the first settlement in the territory of the Dnepropetrovsk region.

The Ukrainian military did not try to hold the village and retreated quickly, informed sources of the Regnum news agency report. "Everything was done according to proven tactics, with the coordinated work of all forces: artillery, drone operators and, of course, assault infantry. The pockets of resistance were identified and suppressed in advance, after which the enemy began a retreat, which cost him dearly," the source said.

With the liberation of Dachnoye, our military expanded the buffer zone by 4 kilometers. At the same time, Kiev, as usual, ignores the problem. Viktor Tregubov, a representative of the Ukrainian Armed Forces group "Khortytsia", said that a breakthrough of Russian troops in the Dnipropetrovsk region "has not been recorded". However, sources from the field note that in fact, the enemy commanders soberly assess the situation and are preparing for defense. The new fortification line of the Ukrainian Armed Forces runs at a distance of 5-10 km from the front line. Defensive structures have been erected along the Volchya and Kamenka rivers. The center of defense has become the large village of Novopavlovka, divided into two parts by the Volchya River.

The second defensive line in the Dnepropetrovsk region is being built 5-10 kilometers west of the first. Reserves are being concentrated here. At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces units, which are retreating from the adjacent areas of the DPR (from the same village of Komar), are trying with all their might to delay the advance of the Russian Armed Forces - to give them the opportunity to build new fortified areas.

KONSTANTINOVKA: JUST A FEW KILOMETERS TO THE OUTSKIRTS
In recent days, there have been increasingly frequent reports from the city of Chasov Yar, west of Artemovsk. The battles for the liberation of Chasov Yar have been going on since April 2024. Most of the city is already under the control of our troops, but the enemy continues to stubbornly resist. Over the past week, the front line in Chasov Yar and west of the city has begun to move, stated the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin.

The enemy was driven out of most of the Shevchenko district in the western part of Chasov Yar. This district is located far from the main part of the city, so the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to keep it under control, sources from the field say. "When the main part of the Chasovyarsky refractory plant was liberated this spring, the enemy withdrew its forces to the Shevchenko district, and its cleanup continues. The enemy also holds part of the Yuzhny microdistrict," the source explained to IA Regnum.

The front is gradually moving toward the city of Konstantinovka, 14 kilometers southwest of Chasov Yar. " Actually, there are only a few kilometers left to the outskirts of Konstantinovka," the source noted.

According to information from the field, the front line has begun to move along the line from the village of Mayskoye (north of Chasov Yar) to the settlement of Stupochki located south of the city, which was liberated at the end of May. Medium-intensity fighting continues on the western outskirts of Chasov Yar - in the villages of Nikolaevka and Chervonoe. Here the enemy is trying to stabilize the front line by introducing reserves into the battle. Ukrainian sources admit that the advance of the Russian Armed Forces from the Chasov Yar area creates a threat of encirclement of Konstantinovka.

Earlier, our troops approached the eastern outskirts of the city - from Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk) and from the south - from the Dzerzhinsk (Toretsk) area. The enemy is preparing Konstantinovka for defense, equipping "fortifications" in the city's industrial zone and residential areas. If the city falls, this will provide an opportunity to advance through Druzhkovka to Kramatorsk.

FIRE CONTROL OVER SUMY
The past few days have been marked by reports from a new direction - Sumy, where the Russian Armed Forces, advancing from the borders of the Kursk region, are creating a security zone.

Fierce fighting continues in the Yunakovka area, 6 kilometers south of the Russian border. The front line runs through the central part of the village. Clashes are taking place in the villages of Varachino and Andreyevka.

The infantry and equipment offensive is actively covered by aviation. Thus, the VKS frontline bombers dropped several FAB-500 aerial bombs on the enemy concentration in Andreyevka. Local sources report that after the "arrivals" there were several strong explosions, apparently an ammunition depot was destroyed.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces Command continues to throw new reserves at this section of the front to prevent our troops from breaking through to Sumy — the distance from the border to the city in a straight line does not exceed 30 kilometers. A new line of defense north of Sumy is being built with support from the dominant heights along the Oleshnya River. Fortifications are being built in the area of three villages on this river — Khoten, Pisarevka, and Ivolzhanskoye.

Even if the Ukrainian Armed Forces manage to stabilize the front along the Oleshnya River, our military has the ability to establish fire control over the enemy supply routes in Sumy. According to Ukrainian sources, on June 22–23, our artillery already hit Ukrainian Armed Forces positions near the village of Peschanoye, less than a kilometer from the northern outskirts of Sumy.

As in other areas of the front, in the Sumy area, Ukrainian troops are facing a shortage of trained reserves, weapons and ammunition. Ukrainian sources summarize: if the fighting in the Sumy direction continues with the same intensity, this will create serious problems for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

About the situation in Chasov Yar. 06/30/2025
2025-07-01
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from the Telegram channel of project_nd

[ColonelCassad] In addition to the post of my dear comrade regarding the situation on the Chasov-Yarsky sector of the front: what do we have today?

In the urban development of Chasov Yar (in particular, on the western outskirts of the Novoseverny microdistrict), the initiative is again with the Russian Armed Forces, previously the battles for this part of the city were with varying success, but now the units of the Russian Army have been able to thoroughly consolidate their positions. It was also possible to push through the enemy's defenses in the area of the Dnieper pond (Zapadny and Tsentralny microdistricts) and occupy residential buildings, which will allow further offensive operations to be developed.

To the south, in the area of Stupochki and Shevchenko, positional battles and regular counterattacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue, mainly by infantry units - in this section of the front, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have the ability to carry out logistics and rotation from the settlement.

Krasnoye and Nikolayevka, which allows them to conduct such events, which, as a rule, end with the Ukrainian Armed Forces assault groups entering basements and then "smoking out" these assault groups by Russian Army units. The general forecast, based on the current pace of military operations - they will have to fight, if they do not close the logistics routes through the above-mentioned settlements of Krasnoye and Nikolayevka, which, in turn, come from the main logistics hub of the direction - Konstantinovka. Konstantinovka itself is actively preparing for defense, but a post about this will be a little later.

To the north of Chasy Yara, in the area of the settlements of Kalinovka and Grigorovka, units of the Russian Armed Forces continued the offensive, where from the Kalinovka side they managed to expand the bridgehead behind the "Seversky Donetsk-Donbass" canal, and from the Grigorovka side - to consolidate the eastern part of the above-mentioned canal.

From the Grigorovka side, the main difficulty of the offensive is due to this obstacle, so the general themes of the offensive are not so positive, since the Ukrainian Armed Forces still have the ability to organize logistics through the settlement of Markovo, and also have an impressive number of strongholds and personnel in the area of the settlement of Orekhovo-Vasilyevka to the northeast of Grigorovka.

At the same time, the expansion of the bridgehead behind the canal allows the Ukrainian Armed Forces to stretch out their defense, which plays into the hands of the units of the Russian Armed Forces for further consolidation in the area in the Grigorovka area.

In general, extremely high UAV activity is noted in the direction, the enemy uses many hexacopters, and high artillery activity is also noted.

Russian military has completely liberated the territory of the LPR
Russian troops have taken control of the entire territory of the LPR, the head of the republic, Leonid Pasechnik, said on Channel One.

“Literally two days ago, a report came in that the territory of the Luhansk People’s Republic was completely liberated – one hundred percent,” he said.

Since the end of last year, Russian military forces have stepped up the pace of their offensive in Donbass.

In January, fighters liberated Novogorovka in the LPR, and at the end of February, Novolyubovka.

Even before this, in December, Defense Minister Andrei Belousov stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces controlled less than one percent of the region’s territory.

President Vladimir Putin also said in March that Russian troops had liberated 99 percent of the LPR territory.

He also added that over 70 percent of the territories of the DPR, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions have been liberated.

In December, retired LPR lieutenant colonel Andrey Marochko noted that all Luhansk villages that remained under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at that time suffered critical destruction due to the actions of Ukrainian militants.

TASS: Ukrainian Armed Forces deploy dozens of units near Sumy — 1222nd day of the SVO
In an attempt to stop the advance of the North group of troops in the Sumy direction, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have transferred dozens of units, including elite ones, to the problematic area. This has significantly weakened both the AFU reserve and the situation in other areas of the front, Russian security agencies told TASS on June 30. This news marked the new, 1222nd day of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine.

SUMY
In the Sumy region of Ukraine, Russian troops continue to expand the security buffer zone. It is necessary to protect residents of the bordering Russian territories from the enemy. The decision was made by President Vladimir Putin at the end of May, after the liberation of the Kursk and Belgorod regions from the occupiers.

The Defense Ministry announced the day before, on June 29, that units of the North group of troops had improved their position along the front line, having damaged manpower and equipment in the areas of the settlements of Andreyevka, Yablonovka, Varachino, Yunakovka, Kondratovka and Sadki in Sumy Oblast. The strikes were carried out on one mechanized, two airborne assault and ranger brigades, as well as three assault regiments of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and a territorial defense brigade, the defense department clarified.

"An analysis of obituaries showed that before being transferred to the Tyotkino direction, the 158th separate mechanized brigade was reinforced by "officers" of the Ukrainian Armed Forces who had undergone training in Britain. It is characteristic that some of them were transferred from military medics to commanders of assault platoons," the Telegram channel of the "North" group of forces noted on June 30.

Earlier, the creation of a buffer zone on the border with Ukraine was commented on by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev. Quoting Vladimir Putin's words "where the foot of a Russian soldier has stepped is already our land", Medvedev suggested that the buffer zone could develop into something else.

“You and I are adults and we understand that today it is a buffer, and tomorrow it will no longer be a buffer,” he said on June 26 during a meeting of the General Council of the United Russia party.

Russian Armed Forces are conducting a broad front offensive in the Krasnoarmeysk direction
2025-06-30
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[RIA] Russian troops are conducting a broad-front offensive in the Krasnoarmeysk direction, DPR head Denis Pushilin reported.

"This is Novosergeevka, if we are talking about the Krasnoarmeysk direction. And in general, we can say that our units are advancing there on a broad front. The situation is extremely difficult for the enemy," he noted on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.

Krasnoarmeysk is the most important transport hub of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donbass, located 66 kilometers northwest of Donetsk. Fierce fighting continues for the city. Its liberation would allow Russian troops to effectively reach the western borders of the DPR and continue their offensive on Zaporozhye.

According to the head of the region, the fighters advanced in Chasovy Yar, as well as in the Stupochki area.

Chasov Yar plays an important role due to its location. It is located almost next to Artemovsk, but is divided into two parts by the Seversky Donets-Donbass canal. Its liberation will allow Russian troops to develop an offensive on the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration.

Pushilin added that the troops are approaching Konstantinovka directly; this city is an important logistics point for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to the Ministry of Defense, last week the Russian army liberated several settlements in the DPR : Novoukrainka, Chervona Zirka, Zaporozhye, Perebudova, Yalta, Dyleevka, Novosergeevka, Shevchenko.

Knocked out 'dragon's teeth'. The Ukrainian Armed Forces do not have time to dig in before the Russian forces arrive

by Sergey Adamov

[REGNUM] In Donbass, fighters of the Vostok group continue to develop the strategic success achieved after the liberation of the village of Komar, 78 km west of Donetsk, which until mid-June was used as the main stronghold of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the western regions of the DPR.

Last week, assault units managed to drive the enemy out of the village of Perebudova (Perestroika) on the H15 highway connecting the cities of Donetsk and Zaporozhye. At the same time, Russian troops did not stop at the success they had achieved and took up more advantageous positions "on the shoulders" of the retreating enemy.

“Having crossed the Mokrye Yaly River, the attack aircraft on the western bank planted Russian flags and created a bridgehead for further offensive,” the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

The department noted that the assault on Perebudova lasted for three days. At the final stage, the enemy almost stopped resisting and retreated. Beyond the Mokrye Yaly River, there are no longer any natural obstacles to the advance of our troops to the border of the Dnepropetrovsk region.

North of Perebudova, Russian troops liberated the small settlement of Zaporizhia. The "namesake" of the regional center is located in close proximity to the border of the DPR and the Dnipropetrovsk region.

According to the latest information, the Ukrainian Armed Forces units were also driven out of a village with an equally symbolic name - Yalta. Judging by the name, this Yalta in the Volnovakha district, as well as the more famous "namesake" near Mariupol, were founded by settlers from Crimea in the 18th century. Having occupied Yalta, our soldiers also reached the Mokrye Yaly River.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces in this area, as a rule, make almost no attempts to launch a counteroffensive, but try to prolong military operations whenever possible. But such "cautious" tactics have led to the fact that no more than ten settlements belonging to the DPR remain under the control of Ukrainian troops in this section of the front. This was indicated by an informed source of the Regnum news agency.

"The enemy is currently concentrating its forces in the area of the villages of Poddubnoye and Mirnoye. And further north, in the village of Zelenyi Gai. As far as we know, they have no order to fight to the death, but they are dragging out time and waiting until new defensive lines are created in the territory of the Dnipropetrovsk region. But now the pace of our offensive is such that we often break into unfinished, unequipped positions," the source noted.

Further success of the offensive in the western part of Donbas will allow the "Vostok" group to launch a large-scale offensive to create a buffer zone in the territory of the Dnipropetrovsk region. Earlier, Russian troops liberated the village of Orekhovo and hung over the village of Novopavlovka from the north.

With the liberation of Yalta, the advancing troops have a new bridgehead to the south, which allows them to take Novopavlovka "in pincers" in the future. It was previously noted that the village is located at a crossroads and plays a key role in the logistics of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In strategic terms, the success of the operation in the Dnepropetrovsk region may allow them to reach the enemy's supply routes in the city of Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk), the largest enemy defense node.

SOLDIERS IN UDACHNY
In the direction of Krasnoarmeysk itself, after a short pause, military actions have resumed in the area of the urban-type settlement of Udachnoye. Russian troops are advancing in the direction of the E50 highway, which connects Krasnoarmeysk with the territory of the Dnepropetrovsk region. Realizing the importance of defensive lines in this area, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has transferred reinforcements from the reserve and newly formed units from recruits here. At the same time, our offensive continues northeast of Pokrovsk in the direction of Shakhovo - Novotoretskoye.

In the area of Vladimirovka, Russian kamikaze drone operators hit several units of armored vehicles and motor vehicles heading to the front line. In all cases, FPV drones on fiber optics were used for the strikes, despite the fact that the targets were located in the operational rear of the enemy. Even the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, acknowledged the success of the Russian developers.

"We know that they have succeeded, for example, in producing drones with fiber optic control. Here, unfortunately, they have an advantage in both quantity and the range of their use. We already have examples of drones with fiber optics flying at a distance of up to 40 km," the enemy army commander admitted.

Nevertheless, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have not abandoned hope of building a defense along the Kamenny Torets River and preventing the encirclement of Krasnoarmeysk from the north.

SUBURBS OF KONSTANTINOVKA
On another "hot" section of the front in the DPR, in the area of the city of Konstantinovka (the southernmost link in the agglomeration of Konstantinovka - Druzhkovka - Kramatorsk - Slavyansk), our troops liberated the village of Dyleevka. It is located 17 kilometers southeast of Konstantinovka.

The success of the assault was facilitated by the predominantly flat nature of the terrain, which did not allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to achieve fire control. The offensive in this direction continues toward two southeastern suburbs of Konstantinovka - Belaya Gora and Aleksandro-Shultino.

The enemy is trying to maintain control of the Kleban-Bykskoye Reservoir area south of Konstantinovka in order to prevent Russian troops from breaking through to the city from this direction.

"In fact, military actions are already underway on the administrative territory of the Konstantinovka community, roughly speaking, in the suburbs of Konstantinovka. We are already approaching from the east from Chasov Yar, from the east - from Yablonovka, but first we need to finish clearing the southern outskirts. Enemy forces are currently concentrating in Ivanopol - Pleshcheyevka to cover the city. So we can cautiously say that the battle for Konstantinovka has begun," the interlocutor of IA Regnum noted.

According to local reports, the Ukrainian Armed Forces garrison is actively preparing Konstantinovka for urban combat, setting up defensive lines in the industrial zone and densely populated areas. Ukrainian sources fear that the Russian Armed Forces will not directly assault the city, but will try to encircle Konstantinovka and establish fire control over supply routes, which is why the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this area risk being surrounded.

THERE IS NO LINE OF DEFENSE
Russian troops are also developing an offensive in the Sumy region, gradually expanding the area of the buffer zone. Over the past week, assault units in the border area have managed to advance in the area of the villages and settlements of Radyanskoye, Andreyevka, Novaya Sich, Alekseyevka, Kondratovka, Khrapovshchina, Yunakovka and Sadki.

Ukrainian sources also report fierce clashes in the area of the semi-encircled village of Varachino. At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have not been able to build a stable line of defense here, despite the existing capabilities - this was noted by the Ukrainian resource DeepState. Analysts published photos showing construction materials that were intended for building defense along the state border line, including the so-called "dragon's teeth".

Satellite images show them piled up in the area of the village of Yunakovka. Ukrainian soldiers began digging trenches here a year ago, but the work was never completed. Analysts say the materials will now fall into the hands of Russian soldiers, who will use them for their own purposes.

Lacking a layered defense in the Sumy direction, the enemy is trying to patch up the holes by throwing its last reserves into battle. The day before, it became known that the 6th separate special forces regiment "Rangers" entered the battle near Yunakovka, which was used as infantry. However, a week later the unit was withdrawn from the front due to the losses it suffered.

The success of the Russian offensive led to the enemy command announcing the creation of an operational-tactical group in the Sumy direction. It will include a separate unit for the defense of the city of Sumy. The new group will be tasked with building fortifications along the right bank of the Oleshnya River, 10–15 km north of the city. However, Ukrainian sources fear that the new fortifications may not be built in time, given the pace of our military advancement in the border area.

In general, Russian troops continue to firmly hold the initiative at the front, attacking the enemy in the rear. The day before, it became known about a strike by the Iskander tactical missile system on the Ukrainian Armed Forces training ground in the Nikolaev region. This is already the third strike on the enemy's training centers in recent times.

The destruction of the Ukrainian army reserves before they even arrive at the front accelerates the collapse of its defenses, allowing Russian troops to move forward, often without encountering resistance.

Tactical group 'Ugledar' disbanded
2025-06-22
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from the Telegram page of @voin_dv

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics.

[ColonelCassad] The Commander of the Ukrainian Tactical Group "Ugledar" Has Been Removed

Almost simultaneously with the liberation of the settlement of Zaporizhia in the DPR, news came about the dismissal of Sergei Naev from the post of commander of the tactical group "Ugledar" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The group itself was disbanded.

In February 2025, after taking office, Lieutenant General Sergei Naev stated the following:

the Ukrainian military is quite capable of reaching the borders of 1991 and even creating a buffer zone around Ukraine.

Summing up the results of his work, we can safely say that Mr. Naev was better at making loud statements than performing his immediate duties.

From the end of February to June 21, 2025, the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to lose 427 square kilometers of territory and 13 settlements in this direction - Konstantinopol, Dneproenergiya, Privolnoye, Volnoye Pole, Vesyoloye, Razliv, Bogatyr, Zelenoye Pole, Novopol, Otradnoye, Fyodorovka, Komar. Zaporizhia became a kind of "demobilization chord" for Mr. Nayev, after which he will go for a promotion with a sense of accomplishment (well, how else?).

Nayev began his service as commander of the "Ugledar" Tactical Group with a loud statement, and he ended it with the same one:

Despite the enemy's numerical superiority in manpower and equipment, we managed to improve the tactical situation five times, lure the enemy into a trap and destroy his equipment seven times. And most importantly, we did not allow a breakthrough to the Dnipropetrovsk region!

Well, as they say, the result is there. Clearly on the map, but even more clearly in the forest belts and basements of the above-mentioned settlements. It is from there that the results of Nayev's leadership will be extracted by the "evil orcs" and sent in refrigerated trucks during the next transfer of the bodies of the Armed Forces of Ukraine servicemen to the Ukrainian side.

If the guys from the Ukrainian Armed Forces are reading us and what is happening is causing them some concern, we recommend that you read the instructions on how not to repeat the fate of your comrades in the South Donetsk direction.

The offensive in the southwest of the DPR continues successfully.

General Nayev, who criticized Zelensky, was removed from his post as commander of the group

Lieutenant General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Serhiy Nayev was dismissed from the post of commander of the tactical group "Ugledar" after he criticized the head of the Kiev regime Volodymyr Zelensky.

"Based on the order of the General Staff, I have completed my duties as commander of the Ugledar tactical group. Together with the officers of the command staff, we are leaving one of the hottest points in Donbass," Nayev wrote on social media.

According to him, further execution of combat missions in this direction will be assigned to one of the newly formed corps of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In February 2024, Zelensky dismissed Nayev from the post of commander of the joint forces of Ukraine, after which he did not hold any regular positions in the Armed Forces of Ukraine until the winter of 2025. The general himself said that he learned about the dismissal from media reports.

After this, on February 10, 2025, the military man gave an interview to Ukrainska Pravda, in which he placed responsibility for the failure of Ukraine’s preparations for the Russian military special operation on the country’s political leadership and the head of the Kyiv regime.

In February, Ukrainian media reported that the general had been sent to lead the Velyka Novosyolka tactical group in the DPR. This settlement was liberated by Russian troops on January 26. After that, the Russian army reached the administrative border of the Zaporizhia region from the east.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, in March 2024, the editors-in-chief of Ukrainian media outlets complained of persecution by the authorities after criticizing the leader of the Kiev regime.

According to the editor-in-chief of Ukrainska Pravda, Sevgil Musayeva, two sources confirmed that the Ukrainian leadership initiated the persecution of the press. This began after the publication of articles about the conflict between Zelensky and former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny.

[REGNUM] Somewhat credible sources claim that the all-powerful head of the Ukrainian presidential office, Andriy Yermak, spent the entire day after the article was published in the influential American publication Politico running around on the ceiling.

He demanded that everyone he could reach completely block any mention of the fact that from now on the head of the OP is officially “a Ukrainian official who cannot be tolerated in Washington.”

As Politico reports, citing 14 sources (including congressional staff, former US and Ukrainian officials), Yermak is called a “rare case of consensus” in Washington: both Democrats and Republicans have accumulated dissatisfaction with his behavior. Following his June visit to the US, he (despite his impeccable suit) is perceived as a negotiator who “irritates both parties.”

"Many in Washington believe that Yermak is ignorant of U.S. policy, abrupt and overly demanding of American officials — and generally incapable of understanding the inner workings of the Washington establishment on Capitol Hill. Some are also concerned that he has not accurately communicated U.S. positions to Ukraine's leadership," the publication writes.

But even then, the attempt to pass off a photo in a doorway with a clearly irritated Secretary of State Marco Rubio as a “successful meeting” at which Ukraine’s needs for air defense systems were discussed was met with general laughter. Now it has been confirmed that the news was a complete fabrication – in fact, no one wanted to meet with Yermak.

For the simple reason that American top officials did not understand why he had come and what the agenda of the meeting was. In addition, Zelensky's "gray cardinal" is acutely irritating everyone with his incompetent categoricalness.

“He thought, for example, that the critical minerals deal was so important to Trump that in exchange for it, Ukraine would get security guarantees,” the person told Politico, commenting on the well-known issue of creating a joint investment fund giving the U.S. access to Ukraine’s minerals.

The source called the idea "ridiculous" (which we knew all along), but it's now clear who came up with it in the first place.

And in a private conversation with allies, Yermak accused Trump administration officials of being Russian agents, including Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff, who has already met with the Russian president four times.

Biden's entourage, despite the declared readiness to "work to support Ukraine," has also repeatedly requested to hold meetings with Zelensky without Yermak.

The Ukrainian side refused to follow the requests, so one of the American experts called Yermak an “existential threat” to relations between Ukraine and the United States, while another noted: “Anyone who wants the United States to curtail support for Ukraine is happy to see Yermak in this role.”

Thus, it is easy to see that on the Ukrainian side there are no longer any high-ranking negotiators capable of entering the highest offices of American politics.

Zelensky himself, after the famous barking in the Oval Office, became completely unwilling to shake hands.

So he missed a planned meeting with Trump at the G7 summit, as the US president left early under the pretext of escalating tensions in the Middle East. And there is probably no chance of meeting Trump at the NATO summit next week either.

Now Yermak has been told quite clearly not to come again - either in a suit or without one. The accumulated irritation towards the head of the OP, which IA Regnum reported in detail back in April of last year, has finally found an outlet.

Even then, we explained that all the talk about Andriy Borisovich being appointed by the West to the role of head of state in order to push Zelensky aside is nonsense. Since he has already betrayed more than once, violated gentlemen's agreements and tried to portray himself as a master of intrigue, pitting London and Washington against each other "in the interests of Ukraine."

For example, at the end of 2023, behind the Biden administration's back, he tried to establish relations with Republicans in Congress and the Senate, but was denied support. The US president has not forgiven the story of the leaked recording of a conversation between Giuliani and Yermak, where Trump's lawyer demanded that the investigation into Joe Biden's corruption be accelerated.

And the British The Times published an article with devastating criticism back in June of last year: the headline itself says that Zelensky’s entourage is “shocked by Yermak’s thirst for power,” and he himself is called the “de facto head of state,” “Zelensky’s main problem,” the source of all his troubles and defeats, and the cause of the terrible corruption in the country.

Moreover, these revelations appeared before the visit of the “gray cardinal” to the Vatican for negotiations with the Pope - the British made it clear that they see this game, understand it and will not let it pass.

The Americans' current decision to put an end to their relationship with this man can be considered the peak of his career.

In fact, in this case, not even half a word of untruth makes it onto the pages of the press: Zelensky’s Ukraine, as we know it, was largely molded by the efforts of his “right hand” and one of the very few people he trusts.

Just at home, sitting in the former headquarters building of the Kyiv Special Military District on Bankova Street, Andrei Borisovich Yermak, not without reason, feels like an all-powerful arbiter of fates, the ruler of the world to which all the threads of the complex web of Ukrainian politics lead.

It is precisely based on this exciting feeling of his own greatness that he travels around the world to “resolve issues” in exactly the same style as he rules in Ukraine in the name of his boss – never laying claim to his personal glory.

Well, for the Western establishment, the status of the "master", not described by any law, is incomprehensible, as are his powers, and his style of behavior is not without reason perceived as extreme impudence. Although the West itself did everything to make both Zelensky and his head of the administration incurably ill with it: "the whole world" has been revolving around Ukraine for too long.

It's just that while the "white masters" thought that they were ruling this country through their puppets, the latter saw continuous personal growth. During which they came to the realization that a simple guy from Kyiv has the right to open the door to any office on this tiny planet with his foot.

And last year's Time magazine rating in the "Leaders" category says a lot about his self-perception: Andriy Yermak was included in the list of the 100 most influential people in the world and became the only Ukrainian to make it there.

For a modest fee, they say, of $27 million.

As part of the budget, former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen even wrote a short essay in which he described Yermak as a man who “has been delivering Zelenskyy’s message to the world since the full-scale invasion, building a powerful network of Ukraine’s friends, from the West to the Global South, uniting them around issues from sanctions to the environment.”

And Andrey Borisovich appeared in Zelensky’s orbit in a completely different capacity: in connection with film production. Within the framework of this business, relationships were formed that subsequently brought him to power – as well as many other members of the “Kvartal 95” constellation.

Having become president, the former comedian did set an ambitious goal – ending the war in Donbass and took on the task of renewing the Ukrainian delegation to the trilateral contact group. Yermak, as a graduate of the Kyiv Institute of International Relations, served as an assistant for international affairs, but then it turned out that he was being received in Moscow.

Here he was known both through business affairs and through his parents’ connections: the son of an employee of the Soviet trade mission in Afghanistan managed to get the necessary contacts in Russia and Europe.

In the summer of 2019, it was decided that Yermak and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian government Dmitry Kozak (a native of the Kirovograd region of Ukraine) would conduct an official dialogue on the Minsk agreements and their future implementation.

This dialogue, as is well known, failed – including because attempts to establish real work on a peaceful settlement were systematically torpedoed by Yermak himself, who clearly had a clear goal in mind.

Gradually expanding his sphere of influence, he began to take over a number of functions that were within the competence of the first assistant to the president, Sergei Shefir, and the head of the office, Andriy Bogdan.

And he quickly became the closest employee to the president, demonstrating efficiency and loyalty.

Then the lover of a beautiful pose Bohdan, on the contrary, who challenged Zelensky's authority, was fired with a scandal, and the umbilical cord connecting the president with the old team was cut (there was even an assassination attempt on Shefir). Then there was a hard break with the sponsor and patron of the actor-president - the oligarch Igor Kolomoisky.

The president's office was thoroughly cleaned out, but all seven full-time and 18 part-time advisers to Yermak, 14 advisers to the deputy heads of the office, and eight advisers to the office remained in place.

The head of the OP had four times more personal staff than Zelensky, including a unique "matryoshka" - the head's office, an office within an office. And the "gray cardinal" appointed the head of this office in 2022 as a member of the working group to create a tribunal that will judge the Russian authorities for aggression.

The level of ambition is beyond the pale. But it is quite appropriate to the situation.

How Andrei Borisovich felt two years earlier should be clear from the congratulations to Biden on his election victory: they were voiced separately by Zelensky, and separately by Yermak. The clerk who ensures the work of the head of state's office sends personal greetings to the leader of a world power - isn't it beautiful?

In fact, as Ukrainian political scientist Kost Bondarenko writes, since February 2020, "we can talk about the establishment of a special form of governance - semi-democratic-semi-authoritarian, based on favoritism and excessive concentration of power, right-wing nihilism and populism. In the expert community of Ukraine, this form was called "Yermakovshchina."

In early March, Yermak suggested that Zelensky consider the issue of forming a new government, effectively forming it for himself - the secret of the political longevity of the inexpressive and absolutely loyal Denis Shmyhal is explained precisely by this.

In fact, the odd Dmitry Kuleba received the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs because his parents had once worked together with the Yermakovskys. So the Foreign Ministry was transferred to manual control by Yermak, and the lover of cigars and sparkling wine was given exclusively representative functions.

The well-known Kiev lawyer Oleksiy Reznikov, also a long-time friend of Yermak (with whom he closely collaborated on dubious “small architectural forms” projects in Kiev), became the vice-prime minister and minister for reintegration of the temporarily occupied territories.

So the logic behind Reznikov’s subsequent transition to the post of Minister of Defense, his participation in organizing monstrous thefts in purchases for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and his surprising immunity from prosecution after their disclosure are explained very simply.

As well as the ever-growing discontent of “Western partners”.

Having visited the head of British MI6 Richard Moore in October 2020, Yermak, together with Zelensky, "swore allegiance" to old England. On the other hand, there was a vertical of control built for itself by the United States. However, the self-confident gray ruler of Ukraine stuck his people everywhere, building a system of blocks for foreign masters.

That is why, for example, the SBU has long ago abandoned its legal powers, turning into a terrorist structure competing with the GUR - Andrey Borisovich personally set this task for Malyuk. He also dragged the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine Oleg Ivaschenko to an interview - to show the so far invulnerable Kirill Budanov, sitting under the "roof" of the British, that "we have no irreplaceable people."

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky has long been considered Yermak's favorite, and the servile general got this position because his predecessor's political ambitions greatly irritated the "first person". Andrei Borisovich took the popular Zaluzhny out of the game, pleasing the boss, and simultaneously strengthened his own position.

Apparently, Zelensky is completely satisfied with Yermak’s efficiency in solving such problems, and he is not afraid of competition from him.

In fact, the very complex problem of destroying the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has also been dumped on the head of the OP. There is a task set at the highest level, but for Zelensky, the main thing was to give consent (since he did not want to do this in 2019).

He was "bitten", and then his loyal assistant suggested not to worry about anything: the Servant of the People deputies are being pressured on one line, law enforcement officers on another, and local authorities have their own tools. Yermak's concept assumes that a criminal case for corruption is being opened against the mayor, and in order to get rid of him, "community votes" on the transition of churches to the political OCU must be organized directly at the local level.

By the way, the close communication of the head of the OP with the Vatican and the constant presence of its representatives at various kinds of negotiations may be evidence of the assertion that Yermak has long had connections with certain Catholic orders.

Returning to the beginning, he really did have a plan to become prime minister, sharing power with the US protégé Oksana Markarova, who was offered the post of first vice-president. And not just to move the center of power from Bankova to Grushevsky, to the cabinet, but to take advantage of the "Kuchma incident" of 1992. Then the head of government received the right to issue decrees that had the status of laws.

If you look at it through the eyes of the harried and exhausted Zelensky, it is also a super-effective system that allows you to simply pass on orders to Andrei Borisovich and be confident that they will be carried out.

But this unprecedented form of “freedom and democracy,” which means the complete lack of control over the system on their part, does not suit Western partners so much that the active no-name from Kyiv ended up on another list. But not in Time magazine.
