Charity funds raised by JeI diverted to terrorist organisations: NIA
2022-08-10
[GREATERKASHMIR] The sleuths of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Monday carried out simultaneous searches at six places in Doda district and one place in Sunjwan area of Jammu district against the members of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
(JeI) in terror financing case and recovered incriminating documents."NIA teams conducted multiple searches on the premises of six suspects (office bearers of the Jamaat) in district Doda and one suspect in Jammu district in the case about JeI J&K, which even after its declaration as Unlawful Association in 2019 continues to raise funds in various forms purportedly for charitable purposes," an official front man said. "These funds were, however, being diverted to organizations like Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. as well as the rest of India."

The front man said that the NIA had recovered incriminating literature, receipts of funds raised by JeI J&K, bank and property-related documents, and electronic devices and said that further investigations in the case were in progress.

In the Jammu district, a team of NIA officials, accompanied by local Police and paramilitary personnel searched the residence of a retired DFO of the Forest Department at Firdousabad in Sunjwan in a terror funding case.

"The retired official is allegedly involved in terror funding and searches were conducted at his residence early morning. Mobile phone, some digital evidence, and documents were seized for further scrutiny," the front man said.

However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
the official was not taken into custody although the searches continued for several hours till the afternoon.

The retired DFO is originally a resident of Doda.

Similar searches were conducted in the mountainous Doda district by different teams of NIA about terror funding with a motive to fuel terror activities in J&K allegedly by JeI.

These searches were conducted as a part of the J&K Terror Financing case RC 03/2021/NIA/DLI.

The searches were part of the ongoing investigation in the case filed by the NIA on February 5, 2021, and a chargesheet was also filed against four persons in the terror financing by Jamaat-e-Islami in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Centre banned JeI in February 2019 for five years by issuing a notification under anti-terror laws for its terror links and funding of terror activities.

government on Saturday dismissed from service grandson of late Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and another teacher from Doda district under the recently invoked Article 311 of the Indian Constitution "in the interest of the security of the state".Separate orders issued in this regard by the General Administration Department, said that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is "satisfied after considering the facts and circumstances" of the cases that the "activities" Anees-ul-Islam, late Geelani's grandson, working as a Research Officer in the Sheri Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) and Farooq Ahmad Butt, a local regularized Rehbar-e-Taleem teacher at Government Middle School Kathawa in J&K's Doda district "as such as to warrant" their dismissal from service.

The dismissal orders of Anees and Butt further read that the LG is "satisfied under sub-clause (c) of the proviso to clause (2) of Article 311 of the Constitution of India it is not expedient to hold an enquiry" into the cases.
Translation: the lad was caught supporting jihadi activity.
Pertinently, the J&K government in April constituted a Special Task Force (STF) to recommend the names of such employees involved in activities posing a threat to the security.

Terrorist hideout busted in J&K's Poonch, 19 grenades seized
2021-05-12
[OneIndia] Security forces on Sunday unearthed a terrorist hideout in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. , leading to the recovery of 19 hand grenades and scuttling of a terrorist plan to disturb peace in the border district by carrying out grenade attacks, a defence front man said.

No one was arrested during the operation which was jointly carried out by the Army and police in Phagla area of Surankote, the front man said.

Based on a specific input that holy warriors were planning to target security forces on NH 144A (Jammu-Poonch highway), a well coordinated joint operation was launched by the Rashtriya Rifles and police in Phagla area.

"The relentless development of intelligence by both the agencies led to discovery of a huge cache of grenades, hidden in a well-concealed natural (cave) hideout. A total of 19 hand grenades have been found," the front man said.

He said the recovery of the grenades foiled the designs of inimical elements to disrupt peace and tranquillity in Poonch.

"This busting of hideout has averted a likely major plan of attack on security forces. The Army and police have yet again proven their mettle in the fight against terrorism and their commitment towards stability in the region," the front man said.

This is the second major recovery of explosives in Jammu region in as many days.

On Saturday, security forces recovered 40 kg of high kaboom, five-litre pressure cooker Improvised Explosive Device (IED), five-inch iron pipe IED, four electrical detonators, electrical wire, power sources, six heavy duty cells, insulation tape and 1.5 kg iron splinters from Chakarandi village of Doda district.

Major LeT plot to revive militancy in Chenab Valley foiled; 5 arrested
2017-05-14
[Daily Excelsior] Police today foiled a major attempt to revive militancy in Chenab Valley, which had been reduced to negligible during the past few years, by arresting five myrmidons, who had developed links in Pakistain as well as with Lashkar-e-Taiba
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
(LeT) commanders in the Kashmire valley.

They were instrumental in attack on Tanta (Kahara) police post under the jurisdiction of Gandoh cop shoppe in Doda district in which an SPO was killed and another injured seriously on the intervening night of May 7 and 8.

Addressing a presser here, IGP Jammu Zone Dr SD Singh Jamwal accompanied by DIG Doda-Ramban range Nissar Ahmad and SSP Doda Mohammad Shabir, said the LeT module had been trying to revive militancy in the Chenab valley.

A total of five persons including an SPO and a former Territorial Army personnel have been tossed in the calaboose
Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit!
, he added.

The module was working to revive militancy in the Doda- Kishtwar-Ramban region.

Jamwal said that the arrests were made by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed after the attack on a police post in Doda on May 8, in which one Special Police Officer (SPO) was killed and another injured. The SIT was headed by Additional SP Bhaderwah Shahzad Salaria.

Giving details, the IGP said that based on intelligence inputs
*Ring, ring* "Mahmoud the Weasel here. Listen carefully, I will say this only once. If you want to find some really bad miscreants, you will find them plotting mischief together in the potting shed at the bottom of the strawberry fields. Do not tell them I sent you."
the SIT had picked up some suspects and subsequently apprehended Abdul Rashid Harga alias Abdullah, a resident of Tanta in Doda district.

Rashid had been an active member of LeT between 2001 and 2008 and had later surrendered. He was again arrested in 2013 and was released on bail in 2016.
A busy man.
After sustained interrogation,
"OUCH! Stop doing that! I said I'll talk if you just stop doing that!"
Rashid confessed to his involvement in the (Doda) firing incident and disclosed the names of his two associates -- his younger brother Showket Ali and Akhtar Magrey of Tanta.

Following their interrogation,
"OUCH!"
"OUCH!"
four more persons -- Bashir Ahmed, who was earlier part of Territorial Army, his nephew and SPO Altaf Ahmed, Shafqat Hussain and Hafiz -- were arrested.
"OUCH!"
"OUCH!"
"OUCH!"
"OUCH!"
An AK-47 rifle and three magazines and ammunition have been recovered from them, the IGP said.
To be fair, the magazines and ammunition were all sadly dented, and the rifle had clearly never been cleaned. If this were Bangladesh, the newest RAB recruit would be set to cleaning, polishing, and hammering out dents until the sergeant was satisfied. But as it's Pakistan, the light tracery of rust over it all will only grow heavier with neglect.
He said that Rashid had been in contact with Bashir Ahmed of Bangraw-Gandoh, who was earlier working in the 139 Territorial Army Battalion in Thathri.

Bashir had asked his nephew Altaf Ahmed, who was working as an SPO in the police department in Doda district, to arrange a weapon.

The SPO had then stolen one AK-47 rifle and ammunition from the District Police Lines in January this year. A case in connection with the weapon theft was registered at Doda cop shoppe.

The IGP claimed that Rashid was in direct communication with his Pak handler, Mohammad Amin alias Khubeb alias Haroon alias Pinna of the LeT.
Goodness. Even his mother must be confused, though his wife, if he has one, may well be delighted.
He said that Rashid, Akhtar and Shokat, on the direction of Khubeb, had been enticing youths of Tanta area to join the militancy.

The police officer said that Rashid had been regularly conducting meetings in various areas of the Chenab valley and motivating former forces of Evil and those who had surrendered.

On the direction of Khubaib and commanders of Valley based myrmidon organization, mainly the Lashkar-e-Taiba, which was asking Harga to activate militancy in erstwhile Doda district. Abdul Rashid Harga alias Abdullah activated his newly recruited grid to keep vigil on the movement of security forces and police pickets in remote hilly areas of Gandoh belt and planned to attack the security forces.

The Jammu police chief said that on May 7, Abdullah conducted recce of the police picket Tanta and got the information of presence of only two to three men at the Post. He then directed his associates to reach in the forest area near the post.

On the intervening night of May 7-8, they attacked police picket Tanta (Kahara) district Doda in which 2 SPOs namely Mohammad Younus and Kikkar Singh were grievously injured.

Younis later succumbed to the injuries at GMCH Jammu. "After attacking the post accused tried to set ablaze the Police Post. However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
due to quick reaction of the injured SPOs they fled from the spot taking the advantage of the darkness," said the IGP.

It was also found that Abdullah, Akhter and Shokat on the direction of Khubbeb alias Amin Butt were enticing the youths of Tanta area to join the militancy.

Abdullah on VOIP calls was also getting the young generation to speak to Khubbeb and other motivators of LeT outfits across the border for joining militancy.

The IGP, however, said that with the arrest of these accused, recovery of weapon and busting of LeT module, Tanta Police Post attack by the LeT has also been worked out by the SIT, which was headed by Additional SP Bhaderwah Shahzad Salaria and comprised SDPO Gandoh Sunny Gupta, Inspector Manjeet Singh and Inspector Tahir Yousaf.

Arms haul in Doda
2016-05-31
[Daily Excelsior] Army and police today recovered a large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives by destroying a Death Eater hideout at Sunarthau forests in Doda district.

Official sources said a joint team of Army and police carried out searches in Sunarthau forests for past several days after getting specific information about suspicious unidentified movement and a dump of weaponry lying deep inside the forests.

Recoveries were made this morning which included one AK-56 rifle, two 9mm pistols, one country made pistol, seven AK magazines, two 9mm pistol magazines, one Pika magazine, four grenades of Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL), five hand grenades of Pakistain origin, 1696 rounds of 7.62 mm AK-47, 1340 rounds of 7.62mm CTN, 40 belted rounds of Pika, two binoculars, one telescopic night sight, one camera, 10 recording cassettes and sustenance stores.

The arms and ammunition had been dumped by the former holy warriors inside a natural cave hideout, sources said.

They added that the Army had been getting information of suspicious unidentified movement of personnel in the general area for the last three months and therefore, a close watch was being maintained. The recovered arms reportedly belonged to one of the Death Eater outfits of the area, active in the past, which could have been hidden for later usage, sources said.

"The area due to its remoteness and rugged terrain makes it an ideal location for establishing a hideout. The dense forest and steep gradient increased the degree of difficulty in approach to the intended target area and subsequent search," sources said.

The recovery of war like stores was possible only due to the accurate intelligence developed by the Army and launching of well synchronised joint operation with SOG in the dense jungle, in a relentless day and night operation of 36 hours, sources said.

Apart from the three columns of the Army, the team also included one head constable with 6 persons of SOG from Thathri cop shoppe. The recovered arms and ammunition were handed over to the Thathri cop shoppe wherein a FIR has been lodged.

"The recovery of a huge cache has given a major success to the security forces and a massive blow to the murderous Moslems in the area, thereby preventing the arms and ammunition from falling into the hands of inimical elements, aiming at revival of militancy in Doda district," sources said.

Indian Security forces kill 9 militants in J&K
2009-08-05
SRINAGAR: Nine militants, including a top Hizbul Mujahideen commander, were killed in six encounters in Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said on Wednesday.

Five infiltrating militants were among seven ultras killed in four separate encounters with security forces in Kashmir valley, while a self-styled section commander of Hizbul Mujahideen and an infiltrator were killed in Jammu region since last evening, the spokesman said.

The slain militant commander identified as Noor Mohammed alias Mansoor was gunned down in a gunbattle in Doda district. An AK 47 rifle and three magazines were recovered from the slain militant.

Another militant was killed by the army during an infiltration bid across the LoC in the Poonch sector.

In the valley, a group of heavily-armed militants from across the border sneaked into Tangdhar, 130 kms from here, in the wee hours, but army troops confronted them and in the ensuing firefight, which is still continuing, three militants were killed, a defence spokesman said. He said the operation was still going on.

The spokesman said two more militants were killed in an ongoing gunbattle between ultras and security forces at Furkhan near Trehgam, 150 kms from here on Wednesday morning. He said two infiltrators were killed in Keran sector, 140 kms from here in Kupwara on Tuesday evening.

Troops also launched a search operation in Didan Gali in Pirpanjal sector of South Kashmir on Wednesday morning. As the troops were engaged in combing operation, militants hiding there opened fire, the spokesman said adding the troops retaliated. The gunbattle was going on but there were no reports of any casualty so far.

Defence sources said militant commanders in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) are "desperate" to push militant groups into the valley to foment trouble in the valley where the level of violence has come down in the recent past.

They said engagement of army troops in as many as five places in the valley indicated that infiltrators are waiting in the wings to cross over into India taking advantage of the weather conditions. The peaks along the LoC get blocked due to snow and infiltration becomes almost impossible during winter months.
