Poliovirus cripples another child in Sindh's Shikarpur |
2024-06-03 |
[GEO.TV] The Pakistain's polio![]() program on Saturday announced another child being paralysed by the wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) in Shikarpur district of Sindh, bringing the total number of cases in the country this year to four. The regional reference laboratory for polio eradication at the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Islamabad notified that WPV1 was detected from stool samples collected from a 2.5-year-old child from Birkhan Union Council (UC) of Shikarpur. On the other hand, Polio Eradication Programme’s national coordinator Dr Shahzad Baig stepped down from his post due to "personal reasons". Meanwhile, ...back at the argument, Livia grabbed for Jane's hair to make her point. Jane elbowed her in the face in rebuttal... health authorities assigned the work of the coordinator of the National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) for polio eradication to the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination (NHS, R&C) Joint Secretary Captain (retd) Anwar-ul-Haq, in addition to his own duties with immediate effect until further notice. Providing details about the fourth polio case, the program officials stated that the child had onset paralysis on May 11. Genetic sequencing of the virus isolated from his samples revealed that it is genetically linked to the imported YB3A cluster. This genetic cluster disappeared from Pakistain in mid-2021 but remained in circulation in Afghanistan. It was reintroduced in Pakistain following cross-border transmission last year. It is worth mentioning here that it is the first polio case from Sindh this year as earlier three cases have been reported from the Dera Bugti, Chaman and Killa Abdullah areas of Balochistan. 24 terrorists killed in Mach, Kolpur during three-day long operations: ISPR |
2024-02-03 |
[GEO.TV] At least 24 bad boyz were potted by law enforcement agencies during the "firefights and sanitisation/clearance operations" which lasted for three days in Mach and Kolpur in Balochistan ...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it... , the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Friday. The key bully boyz — killed after they attacked the Mach and Kolpur Complexes in Balochistan on the night of January 29 and 30 — include Shehzad Baloch, Attaullah, Salah Uddin, Abdul Wadood and Zeeshan, said the military's media wing. "The identification process of remaining bully boyz is in process, the military's media wing stated," the statement read. During an intense exchange of fire with terrorists, at least four brave law enforcement agencies personnel and two civilians embraced martyrdom. The martyred LEAs personnel fought gallantly against the terrorists. "Law enforcement agencies deputed on security offered stiff resistance and forced the attackers to repulse," the ISPR said in its statement. The statement further read that these bully boyz were then hunted down in the ensuing sanitisation and clearance operations which have now been concluded after clearing and securing the area. The ISPR mentioned an effective response by LEAs is a testament to their unrelenting resolve in the fight against terrorism. "Pakistain's Security Forces stand shoulder to shoulder with other Law Enforcement Agencies to ensure peace and stability in the country." SECURITY FORCES REPULSE FIRE RAID The operation by the LEAs began as bully boyz launched multiple attacks on Mach and Kolpur Complexes in Balochistan earlier this week. The security forces repulsed a "fire raid" attempt by Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) bully boyz in Balochistan’s Mach late Monday, sources had told Geo News. Mach city echoed with explosions and plunged into darkness after bully boyz fired several rockets from mountains, followed by heavy gunfire, on Monday night, according to The News. People were trapped in their homes due to explosions and firing while firing also started in Kolpur town and the Gokhart Bibi Nani area. According to security sources, unidentified persons fired 15 rockets from the mountains at 9:30pm in the Mach area of Kuchi Bolan. Sources added security forces had received intelligence about the terrorist attack and laid an ambush for the terrorists. The bully boyz retreated after being overwhelmed by the effective response of the security forces, they added. Four out of the six abducted footballers 'recovered', confirms official |
2023-09-30 |
[GEO.TV] Balochistan ...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it... 's Additional Chief Secretary Saleh Nasir confirmed on Friday that four out of the six footballers who were kidnapped in Dera Bugti have been recovered. According to Nasir, the kidnapped footballers were rescued thanks to collaborative efforts by the local administration and law enforcement agencies (LEAs). "The remaining two footballers will also be recovered soon," assured the official said. Six footballers, while on their way to Sibbi were kidnapped from Balochistan's Jani Bair area of Dera Bugti earlier this month on September 9. The players were residents of Dera Bugti and Sui. They were going to Sibi to take part in the qualifying round of the All Pakistain Chief Minister Gold Cup football tournament," Dera Bugti’s deputy commissioner had said earlier. Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti had blamed turbans for the kidnapping. "An operation is being planned to recover the players. Teams of Frontier Corps ...a provincial paramilitary force. Total manpower is about 80,000. They are tasked to help local law enforcement in the maintenance of law and order, and to carry out border patrol and a..the Antwerp-based Salafist organization that had campaigned to introduce Sharia law to Belgium before single-handedly making Belgium the highest per capita supplier of jihadis to Syria in Europe. There was a big trial in Antwerp in 2015, but most of those convicted were in absentia...nti-smuggling operations.... , deputy commissioner, commissioner and Levies Force were working to trace the suspects," Bugti said. Cricket might be the most popular sport in Pakistain but the same can’t be said for its largest province, Balochistan, since football here is a tool that promotes social cohesion among communities and helps them escape the harsh realities of life. However, there's more than one way to stuff a chicken... despite the ever-growing interest in football in Balochistan, only a few are lucky enough to pursue the game professionally due to the lack of a proper system and employment opportunities. The departmental structure in Pakistain usually shows little interest in the development of players, promotion of the sport and working at the grassroots level since it is already funded by the government. This adds to the misery of places like Balochistan which is in dire need of investment in sports and especially football. |

The personnel were on routine patrol in a village when the bomb — fitted in a cycle of violence on the side of the road — exploded remotely as they approached the site, the spokesperson said. The injured officials have been shifted to the FC hospital, he added. A large number of security personnel along with a bomb disposal squad reached the site immediately after the earth-shattering kaboom, he said, adding that the area was cordoned off and a search operation was initiated.
