Addressing a joint presser along with Shujaat Hussain’s sister, Sumaira Elahi, in Gujrat, Qaisera Qaisera said: "Parvez Elahi still sincerely stands with Imran Khan."

At the same time, she blamed incumbent Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for creating rift between her husband and PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

Differences emerged within the Chaudhry clan — an influential political family in Punjab’s Gujrat — last year after Elahi announced supporting PTI founder Imran Khan while his cousin Shujaat was standing with his old friends, PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Ten Percent Zardari
...former president of Pakistain, husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, who has been singularly lacking in curiosity about who done her in...
and the Sharif family.

Referring to the upcoming by-election in PP-32 Gujrat constituency, she said: "I am surprised that 25-year-old milk-drinking baby Musa Elahi is contesting elections against 78-year-old Parvez Elahi."

Musa Elahi is the son of Chaudhary Wajahat Hussain, the younger brother of the PML-Q chief.

"Parvez Elahi, at the age of 78, is still brave enough to bear hardships," she added.

It is pertinent to mention here that Elahi has been lingering in prison since June 1 last year in connection with multiple cases registered against him.

Elahi was taken into custody by anti-corruption officials from near his residence in Lahore on June 1 in the Rs70 million corruption case related to the embezzlement of development funds allocated for the Gujrat district. Since then, the former Punjab chief minister was re-arrested multiple times after being released on the orders of the relevant courts.

Former PDM leadership wants to see PTI part of 'reconciliation'
2024-02-14
[GEO.TV] As part of his efforts to bring all political forces on the same page regarding the country’s economic agenda, PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Ten Percent Zardari
...former president of Pakistain, husband of the late Benazir Bhutto, who has been singularly lacking in curiosity about who done her in...
has expressed his wish to see defiant PTI as part of the ongoing "reconciliation".

Addressing a joint presser flanked by former leadership of the Pakistain Democratic Movement (PDM), including PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, PML-Q’s Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and other leaders, Zardari said: "Everyone will have to be united on the economic agenda in the larger interest of the country."

The development comes hours after PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, during a presser in the federal capital, announced pulling out of the candidacy for the prime minister's post stating his party would back PML-N's candidate for the country's chief executive.

Elahi's arrest bid: 'Illegal action' won't be allowed, says Punjab caretaker CM
2023-05-01
[GEO.TV] Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that he was "appalled" to know that the police stormed into Pakistain Moslem League Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain's house during the operation to arrest Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....

2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

Police had raided the residence of the former PML-Q leader to arrest him. PTI strongly criticised the police's actions, voicing concerns regarding arrests of its workers and leaders.

Taking note of a tweet by Shujaat's son, Chaudhry Saalik Hussain, the caretaker CM said that "no illegal action will be allowed by anyone".

Saalik, sharing a video of the police party trying to break in his house during the raid to arrest Elahi, expressed dismay over what had happened.

"Appalled to know that team went to arrest Ch Pervaiz Elahi but stormed Ch Shaujaat’s House in which Ch Salik Hussain got injured. The law should take it’s course," Naqvi wrote on the microblogging site in response.

The interim chief minister shared that he was in Madina but receiving all the details about the matter.

Earlier, Saalik had revealed that his paternal aunt (Shujaat's sister), who is also Elahi's sister-in-law (wife's sister) had told the police party that the PTI leader was at the PML-Q leader's house.

"The police did what they did but what our people did not do less," the PML-Q leader had written in the Tweet that contained a video showing police party trying to break in his house.

It may be noted that Naqvi's statement came after the Centre distanced itself from the raid, blaming the Punjab caretaker set-up for the incident.

On Saturday night, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar held an important meeting with PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Wormtongue Qureshi
...a Pak political shape-changer. He is undistinguished except for his habit of periodically needing to have his lips reattached...
, and said that the federal government had nothing to do with the raid.

Dar expressed regret over the raid on the PTI president’s house and violation of the sanctity of "chadar and char dewari" — a phrase used to describe family’s dignity.

During the meeting, Qureshi apprised Dar of the sentiments of the family of Elahi regarding the "illegal attack" at their residence.

"The federal government has nothing to do with the attack on the house of Chaudhry Parvez Elahi," Dar was quoted as saying in the meeting.

The finance minister added that the raid was conducted by the Punjab caretaker government.

Dar said he would inform the ruling alliance's leadership about the reservations of the PTI regarding the police action and would get back to the opposition party on the matter soon.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch shot Black Bart's other gun out of his other hand......
Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal criticised the PTI leaders for "using women and kiddies" as a shield to evade arrest.

Speaking on Geo News' programme "Naya Pakistain", the federal minister said both PTI Chairman Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who ain't the sharpest bulb on the national tree...
and Elahi were not arrested when police conducted a raid at their residence.

"We never used wheelchairs or cried on TV," he said while criticising the PTI’s leaders for raising hue and cry over arrests.

SC strikes down deputy speaker's ruling; Elahi to take over as Punjab CM
2022-07-27
[DAWN] The Supreme Court on Tuesday struck down Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari's ruling on Punjab

2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

chief minister's election, declaring his "understanding and implementation" of Article 63A(1)(b) of the Constitution "incorrect and erroneous" as it announced the highly anticipated verdict on PML-Q leader Chaudhry Parvez Elahi's petition.

The verdict delivered a big but expected blow to the coalition government as it saw PML-N's Hamza Shehbaz lose his status of the "trustee" chief minister, while his rival Parvez Elahi, who had PTI's backing, will now take over the position as per the top court's order.

A three-member bench comprising Chief Justice of Pakistain (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial and Justices Ijazul Ahsan and Munib Akhtar announced the decision.

During the election, Mazari, the deputy speaker, had decided against counting the votes of 10 PML-Q politicians, which were cast in Elahi’s favour, citing a letter written by party President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain in which he had instructed them to vote for Hamza instead. That decision had tipped the balance in Hamza's favour — an advantage the SC reversed in its verdict tonight.

The top court, in its short order, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com, declared all the appointments made by Hamza "illegal" and told the members of his cabinet to vacate their offices.

All of the advisers and assistants appointed by Hamza were also ordered to be relieved of their duties.

The top court ordered for the issuance of Elahi's notification as the new Punjab chief minister immediately, also instructing the governor to take his oath at 11:30pm tonight.

The document mentions the name of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar as an `approver' in the Hudaibia Paper Mills scam, in which all members of the Sharif family were acquitted.

Prominent politicians acquitted in different cases by accountability or high courts over the past 16 years are PML-N Senator Chaudhry Tanveer, Punjab PPP president Manzoor Wattoo, Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain, former Punjab minister Basharat Raja, Yousuf Talpur, Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar, Jahangir Badar, Siraj Durrani and Islamuddin Sheikh of PPP and Khalid Kharal, Javed Hashmi, Riaz Fatiana, Liaquat Jatoi, Jam Mashooq Ali, Nawaz Khokhar and Anwar Saifullah Khan.

SC given list of 150 scams
2015-07-09
[DAWN] ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has informed the Supreme Court that it is pursuing 150 mega scams involving approximately Rs428.3 billion in financial and land irregularities and abuse of power. The list implicates big guns like Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
and two former premiers, Yousuf Raza Gilani
... Pakistain's former prime minister, whose occasional feats of mental gymnastics could be awe-inspiring ...
and Raja Pervez Asharaf, a caretaker prime minister, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, and former president Asif Ali Zardari.

The information was submitted before a three-judge Supreme Court bench, headed by Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja. The bench had asked for a comprehensive report while deploring that the bureau was not investigating mega scandals and instead wasting its resources and energy on petty matters.

On Tuesday the court had taken up a case relating to maladministration and poor performance of the bureau.

The list not only contains names of politicians, former federal and provincial ministers, but also senior babus bureaucrats and individuals from the banking or financial sector.

Expressing shock over the NAB report, Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) was quick to react against the allegations and its big shot Ishaq Khakwani said his party had been arguing that both the ruling PML-N and the PPP were in cahoots with each other.

"So many references against many politicians of the two parties are lying in the cold storage," lamented Mr Khakwani while talking to Dawn, adding that many cases went to courts, but yielded no results due to weak prosecution.

Now with the intervention of the Supreme Court, at least people would learn about big names in corruption and mega scams, he said.

PTI's central information secretary Naeemul Haq said that the PTI had been saying that NAB had no capacity to go after big fishes under the existing set-up.

Information Minister Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that the cases the PML-N leadership was facing were instituted during the days of retired Gen Pervez Perv Musharraf
... former dictator of Pakistain, who was less dictatorial and corrupt than any Pak civilian government to date ...
to victimise the Sharifs. But despite pursuing the cases for eight years, the government was unable to prove anything in courts, the minister added.

The road being referred to in the NAB report, he said, has a university and hospitals across it. Building roads were one of the important aspects of the development to provide ease of movement to the citizens, he added.

Mr Zardari's front man Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the former president was facing politically motivated cases and that he had been acquitted in two corruption cases.

The 34-page summary highlighted 150 cases each of financial scam, land scam and abuse of power. Of these,71 cases in the three categories are still in the inquiry stage by NAB, 41 are under investigation and 38 references have already been filed and pending in different accountability courts.

The court, however, was not amused and rejected the report since there was no mention when these cases were initiated and for how long these were still being inquired into or investigated or pending in the accountability courts. The bureau is required to furnish the report afresh with all details.

In the category of abuse of official authority, the NAB report says that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother, Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif
...Pak dynastic politician, brother of PM Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab...
, are facing investigation for misappropriating Rs126 million by misusing their authority in the construction of a road from Raiwind to the Sharif family house. The case is still at the investigation stage, though it came to the notice of NAB in April 2000.

The prime minister is also facing another charge of illegal appointments in the FIA by misusing authority in 1999.

Similarly, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar is facing a probe for amassing assets beyond means. The case is still at the investigation state.

Former president Asif Ali Zardari was facing allegations of amassing wealth beyond means worth Rs22 billion.

Former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, former finance minister Shaukat Tareen, former Pepco chief Tahir Basharat Cheema and water and power secretary Shahid Rafi are also facing investigation in the rental power producer contract to different rental companies.

Former caretaker prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and former chief minister of Punjab Chaudhry Pervez Elahi also figure in the list of alleged illegal beneficiaries for misusing their authority to the tune of Rs2.4 billion.

Likewise, former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani is being investigated on a charge of misuse of authority in the illegal appointment of Tauqir Sadiq as chairman of Ogra. Tauqir Sadiq is also facing corruption cases worth Rs80 billion.

A former chief minister of Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
, Nawab Aslam Raisani, is facing investigations for misusing authority in recruitments but the size of the corruption has not yet been determined by NAB.

Speaking to DawnNews in an interview, Shujaat said that preparations were under way to hold a referendum for the formation of a national government.

The PML-Q chief said that the army was against Nawaz, adding that the prime minister had opened far too many fronts with the armed forces.

Shujaat added that no one will back down from the demand of the registration of cases against the Sharif brothers and other PML-N leaders over the Model Town tragedy.

He said the protesters were not going anywhere and would only leave once the prime minister resigns.

Chairman Imran Khan
... aka Taliban Khan, who ain't the sharpest bulb on the national tree...
stated here on Thursday that his party's 'Azadi March' would not be a 20-20 match but a series of Test matches.

"Nobody should misunderstand that the PTI is going to hold a simple protest public gathering in Islamabad," he warned.

Speaking after the inauguration of his party's Lahore office on Thursday, Mr Khan said the 'Naya Pakistain' would only be created after coming out on roads as was the case of winning the cause of independent judiciary. "The Azadi March (from Lahore) will be a final battle to root out the corrupt and bring in a fair system in the country," he said.

The PTI chief referred to PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain's reply to a media person's question whether the nuclear bombs could be used in trying times — "The nuclear bombs are not to be fired on Shab-e-Bara'at".

Mr Khan hinted that in his speech in Islamabad he would expose the whole team that had fixed the general election match.

He said his party had been looking for justice against the wrongs done in last year's general elections, but all its efforts went in vain only because of the corrupt system in the country.

Qadri said he never talked about forming the alliance because in such an alliance parties agree and disagree on achieving goals that the alliance was formed on the basis of.

On Thursday, however, he hosted a meeting of all the like-minded parties at his residence in Model Town, which was attended among others by chief of the Awami Moslem League (AML), Sheikh Rasheed, leaders of the Pakistain Moslem League — Quaid (PML-Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.

Speaking on the killings of his party's supporters in the Model Town tragedy, he said that the "deaders' blood will not go in vain."

Dr Qadri returned to the country from Canada on Monday soon after the tragic incident in Lahore in which 12 workers of PAT were killed in a clash with the Punjab police.
