Trump sends another aircraft carrier to the Middle East after massing stealth bombers at island air base amid mounting fears he is ready to strike Iran |
2025-04-03 |
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] US president Donald Trump has moved another aircraft carrier to the Middle East after amassing stealth bombers to the nearby Chagos Islands, amid fears he may be gearing up to strike Iran. The US is moving the USS Carl Vinson from Asia, where it normally patrols the South China Sea, to the Persian Gulf, directly south of Iran, to join its sister carrier USS Harry S. Truman. Trump appears to be making good on a threat to attack Iran with a 'bombing the likes to which they have never seen before' should its supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, refuse to destroy its nuclear programme and stop supporting proxy wars in the Middle East. America has already moved six B-2 Spirit stealth bombers to the Chagos Islands, a third of its fleet, with satellite imagery showing them resting at the Diego Garcia military base on the UK-controlled island. These high-tech planes have the capability of carrying bunker busting bombs across Iran that could destroy its military and nuclear sites. The B-2 Spirits will likely be supported by a fleet of six Stratotanker in-flight refuelling craft, which were seen at Diego Garcia. These would give the Spirits the capability to fly to Iran, deliver payloads and fly back to the Chagos Islands in a roughly 5,000-mile round trip. But Iran appears to be stepping up to the military challenge, with Khamenei adviser Ali Larijani telling local media: 'If America or Israel bomb Iran under the nuclear pretext, Iran will be compelled to move toward producing an atomic bomb.' Last month, the International Atomic Energy Agency reported that Iran had substantially increased its production of nuclear-capable uranium, and had increased its stockpile of near-weapons grade material. The US is also exerting financial pressureon Iran, with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Wednesday meeting in Washington with 16 global banks and federal law enforcement agencies on U.S. sanctions policy on Iran including efforts to cut its oil exports. Bessent said President Donald Trump's administration is applying economic pressure to the maximum extent possible to disrupt Iran's access to financial resources that help it fund Hamas and other militant groups throughout the Middle East and its efforts to obtain a nuclear weapon. 'This includes the billions of dollars each year that Iran generates via its oil sales, which the regime also uses to finance its dangerous agenda and support its multiple terrorist proxies and partners,' Bessent said, according to a copy of his remarks. Iran says its nuclear program is for civilian purposes. Trump restored his policy of maximum pressure on Iran in February that includes efforts to drive its oil exports down to zero. In March Treasury slapped sanctions on tankers carrying Iranian oil and on a Chinese 'teapot' refinery for processing the oil. Teapots are small, independent refineries in China. China's national oil company refineries have stopped buying Iranian oil over concerns about sanctions. Bessent mentioned the U.S. sanctioning of Shandong Shouguang Luqing Petrochemical Co., Ltd, the small refinery, and its chief executive officer for purchasing and refining hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of Iranian crude oil, including from vessels linked to the Houthis and the Iranian Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics. Bessent also warned the banks that Iran conducts its foreign exchange activities through a covert shadow banking network. 'My message to financial institutions worldwide is unequivocal: safeguard your institutions from being exploited by this malign network, so you can continue to serve your legitimate clients with integrity,' Bessent told the banks, according to the Treasury Department. The department did not immediately respond to a request about which banks and agencies participated. Bessent said Treasury uses tools such as Wednesday's meeting to bring together financial institutions, regulatory agencies, and law enforcement, to disrupt what it calls Iran's illicit revenue streams. In an NBC interview over the weekend, Trump also threatened so-called secondary tariffs, which affect buyers of a country's goods, on both Russia and Iran. He signed an executive order in March authorizing such tariffs on buyers of Venezuelan oil. Iran signals it would support ceasefire in Lebanon, as Israel pounds Beirut |
2024-11-16 |
[IsraelTimes] 3 foreign workers lightly hurt in rocket barrage on Haifa area; AP photographs Israeli bomb hitting building in Beirut, after IDF issues evacuation order citing Hezbollah activity Israeli strikes repeatedly targeted Hezbollah positions in Beirut on Friday as Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneouslytaking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militiasto extend the regime's influence. The word Iranis a cognate form of Aryan.The abbreviation IRGCis the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA).The term Supreme Guideis a the modern version form of either Duceor Führeror maybe both. They hate signaled it would support any ceasefire deal with Jerusalem agreed on by Leb ...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers... and the Tehran-backed terror group. Strikes were seen hitting sites on several occasions in Beirut’s southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold known as Dahiyeh after evacuation warnings were issued about half an hour before the attacks. The IDF has carried out dozens of ... KABOOM!... s in Beirut in recent days. During a strike on Friday in the Tayouneh area several miles from central Beirut, an News Agency that Dare Not be Named photographer captured images of what appeared to be an Israeli bomb heading toward an 11-story residential building just before the subsequent explosion. There were no immediate reports of casualties but the bomb hit a lower level of the building, turning much of it to rubble, after the IDF issued an evacuation order for the vicinity of the building, saying it was used by Hezbollah. The IDF also continued to hit Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon. Overnight, the IDF struck several buildings and command centers belonging to Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh, the military said. According to the IDF, the overnight strikes followed a day that saw 120 Hezbollah sites targeted in Lebanon, including weapon depots, command centers, cells of operatives and numerous rocket launchers. Some of the rocket launchers were used in an attack on Haifa on Thursday. The strikes came as the IDF’s 36th, 91st and 146th divisions began operating in new areas of southern Lebanon. The military said the ground forces located Hezbollah rocket launchers and other weapons, as well as demolishing a tunnel during recent operations. Separately, Israeli fighter jets hit several land crossing roads in Syria on Thursday night, which the IDF says were being used by Hezbollah to smuggle weapons into Lebanon from Iran. Several routes and border crossings between Lebanon and Syria have been struck by the IDF in recent weeks, amid efforts to counter Hezbollah’s weapon smuggling attempts. HEZBOLLAH TARGETS HAIFA AREA The Lebanese terror group kept up its rocket fire at Israel. Of course. They’re deep into use it or lose it territory now. A barrage of five rockets fired Friday by Hezbollah lightly maimed three foreign workers in their 40s in the Haifa area. Several of the rockets were intercepted, however, one fell at the construction site where they were working. The Magen David Adom ambulance service said all three were conscious and aware of their surroundings and were taken to Rambam Medical Center for treatment.Earlier, rocket sirens were activated overnight in the northern coastal city of Nahariya and several nearby communities. There were no reports of injuries. Two rockets fired at the Haifa Bay area at around 7 a.m. were successfully intercepted, the IDF said. No injuries were reported in that attack. CEASEFIRE TALKS Meanwhile, ...back at the Hubba Hubba Club, Nunzio wondered: Where the hell was Chumbaloni? And where was his $600?... Iran, Hezbollah’s main backer, said Friday it would support any decision taken by the Lebanese government and Lebanon’s "resistance" in current talks on a ceasefire. The commitment was made by Ali Larijani, senior adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei ...the very aged actual dictator of Iran, successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini...> , during his meeting with Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and parliament speaker Nabih KnobbyBerri ...perennial Speaker of the Lebanese parliament, head of the Amal Shiite party aligned with Hezbollah, a not very subtle sock puppet of the Medes and Persians... "We are not looking to sabotage anything. We are after a solution to the problems," Larijani said after the meeting, adding that Iran will support Hezbollah and its other proxies under all circumstances. The Shiites spent a large chunk of Moslem history being oppressed, whether by successive Sunni governments or by unbelieving foreigners. They know how to bow down and lie through their teeth. In a post on X posted Friday, Mikati wrote the Lebanese government prioritizes the implementation of United Nations...the Oyster Bay money pit... Security Council Resolution 1701 in its entirety without any amendments. The amendment that matters in this case being Israel’s insistence on being the ones to enforce Hezbollah’s continued peacefulness and disarmament, given that neither the Lebanese government nor UNIFIL have proved willing and capable of doing so. The resolution ended the last round of conflict between Hezbollah and Israel in 2006 and stipulates that southern Lebanon must be free of arms that do not belong to the Lebanese state."Calls are ongoing to reach an understanding," Mikati wrote. Until y'all understand that Israel has beaten you and is not interested in allowing a rematch, the current uncomfortable situation — the one where Israel degrades Hezbollah and Hezbollah accomplishes nothing significant in response — will continue. His comments come a day after it was reported that the US ambassador to Lebanon had submitted a draft for a proposed truce in Lebanon to Parliament Speaker Berri. US ambassador Lisa Johnson met with Berri, a Hezbollah ally and the typical conduit for diplomacy with the group, on Thursday to submit Washington’s first written proposal in at least several weeks, two senior Lebanese political sources told Rooters.Since October 8, 2023, Hezbollah-led forces have attacked Israeli communities and military posts along the border on a near-daily basis, with the group saying it is doing so to support Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppressionand disproportionate response... amid the war there. Some 60,000 residents were evacuated from northern towns on the Lebanon border shortly after fellow terror group Hamas ![]() ’s October 7, 2023, onslaught, amid fears Hezbollah would carry out a similar attack, and increasing rocket fire by the terror group. The attacks on northern Israel have resulted in the deaths of 43 civilians. In addition, 69 IDF soldiers and reservists have died in cross-border skirmishes and in the ensuing ground operation launched in southern Lebanon in late September. Two soldiers have been killed in a drone attack from Iraq, and there have also been several attacks from Syria, without any injuries. The IDF estimates that some 3,000 Hezbollah operatives have been killed in the conflict. Around 100 members of other terror groups, along with hundreds of civilians, have also been reported killed in Lebanon. Hezbollah has named 516 members who have been killed by Israel amid the fighting, mostly in Lebanon but some also in Syria. These numbers have not been consistently updated since Israel began a new offensive against Hezbollah in September. |

Report: Lebanese officer bars Iranian delegation from leaving the airport in sign of widening rift |
2024-11-16 |
[IsraelTimes] The Lebanese army’s head of security at Beirut’s airport directed his officers to search a security team that was accompanying Ali Larijani, a senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International reports. The Iranian team refused to be searched, citing diplomatic immunity, leading the airport security head to shut down all gates surrounding the VIP lounge where the Iranians were residing, preventing them from leaving the airport, according to the report. The incident appears to point to growing frustration in Lebanon over Iran’s alleged meddling in its internal affairs through Tehran’s ongoing support for Hezbollah. |

Iran's Larijani Rebuffed over Election Bar |
2021-06-13 |
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Iran's ex-parliament speaker Ali Larijani on Saturday demanded an explanation of why he was barred from running in next week's presidential poll but was promptly rebuffed by the election watchdog. The moderate conservative was disqualified by the powerful Guardian Council in a surprise move that leaves judiciary chief Ebrahim Raisi, an ultraconservative, the clear favorite in the June 18 election. Larijani called on Twitter on the Guardian Council to "officially and publicly disclose all the reasons" for his disqualification as reports on him and his family had been "proven to be false". The council's front man in response said the law does not mandate the body to explain its reasoning in public. The vetting process is carried out using "adequate and trustable documents", Abbas Ali Kadkhodaee said in a tweet reported by local agencies. "The presidential election law has not specified anything regarding protesting disqualifications and public disclosure of their reasons," he said. The conservative-dominated, unelected council has approved seven candidates, five of them ultraconservatives, to run in the election from a field of about 600 hopefuls. In addition to Larijani, who serves as advisor to supreme leader Ali Khamenei ![]() , it also barred first vice-president Eshaq Jahangiri and firebrand ... firebrandsare noted more for audio volume and the quantity of spittle generated than for any actual logic in their arguments... former president Mahmoud Short RoundAhmadinejad. The disqualifications have unleashed a flood of criticism, including from a member of the 12-man council. Sadegh Amoli Larijani, a former judiciary chief and brother to the ex-speaker, said "security bodies" were influencing the council's decisions through "false reports". President Hassan Rouhani ...Iran's moderatepresident, which he is, relative to his predecessor, which doesn't mean he's anything but a puppet of the nearest holy man... , who is constitutionally barred from running for a third consecutive term, said last month he had sent a letter to Khamenei asking him to intervene and ensure greater "competition" in the election. The supreme leader in a May 27 speech urged voters to ignore boycott calls but turned a deaf ear to criticism of the vetting process. A week later, however, he said some candidates had been treated "unjustly" as "they and their families were accused of false things", without giving names. The Guardian Council said "false reports" had not influenced its decisions. |

Larijani, a former nuclear negotiator and an adviser to Khamenei, is hoping to secure backing from both moderates and hardliners and bridge the gap between them. "I have come as an independent to the stage to make changes in the executive management of the country and to fight poverty, corruption, humiliation and discrimination," Raisi was quoted as saying in a statement by local media before registering. "I have come to form a strong people’s government for a strong Iran" with the help of "the brave youth," Raisi said, apparently alluding to recent comments by Khamenei who said he expected a "capable and energetic government" to come to power. |

Iran urges Europe to normalise economic ties with it or face consequences |

[DAWN] Iran said on Sunday that Europe ![]() was not in a position to criticise Tehran for its military capabilities, and called on European leaders to normalise economic ties with the Islamic Theocratic Republicdespite US sanctions or face consequences. President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... last year withdrew the United States from a nuclear deal with Iran and reimposed sanctions. Trump has condemned a 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, signed by his predecessor Barack Obama That’s just how white folks will do you.... , as flawed for not being permanent and for not covering Irans ballistic missile programme or its role in conflicts around the Middle East. "Be our good friend or we'll beat you up!" The European signatories to the deal ‐ La Belle France, Britannia and Germany ‐ share the same concerns as the United States over Irans ballistic missile programme and regional activities. However, death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate... they have defended the nuclear accord saying that at least it puts curbs on Iran's nuclear programme and can be the basis for future talks. "Europeans are not in a position to criticise Iran for issues outside the JCPOA," Zarif was quoted as saying by the state broadcaster, using the acronym for the nuclear deal. "The Europeans and other signatories of the JCPOA should normalise economic ties with Iran ... We will halt our commitments or will take action in accordance to their measures." Iran last month stopped some commitments under the nuclear deal and warned that in 60 days it would scale back more commitments if Europeans fail to shield it against the US sanctions. German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas will visit Iran this week, during which he will explore options for preserving the fraying nuclear non-proliferation pact. Iranian parliament speaker Ali Larijani on Sunday also criticised French President Emmanuel Macron for saying last week in a meeting with Trump that they shared the same objectives on Iran. |

Israeli paper betrays scandalous details of 'deal of century'
2019-06-03 | ||
[PRESSTV] US President Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... 's "the deal of the century" wants Paleostinian refugees to be naturalized and settled in several countries, including Leb, Syria, Jordan and Iraq, Israeli daily Haaretz reports.
Iran's Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said one definite prospect is that the plan seeks to do away with the issue of returning 6 million refugees to their homeland. "To realize this goal, America is about to arrange an economic deal and get its money from the miserable Persian Gulf countries," he said in Tehran. Haaretz said Washington is thought to be pressing Leb to grant citizenship to Paleostinian refugees living in the country. "In the process, this is seen as defusing the issue of a right of return of refugees to Israel, which has been a major obstacle to resolving the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict," the paper said.
Other reports have put the figure lower, prompting Lebanese groups to say that the census had been conducted under US pressure designed to underreport the real numbers because that way Leb could absorb a modest-sized population. The Lebanese constitution, however, provides that the country's territory is indivisible and that refugees living there are not to receive citizenship. The official reason for this is that the absorption of Paleostinian refugees would impair their claim to a right of return. However, a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all... the US has sugarcoated the plan with a lifeline to extract Leb from its economic crisis, where the country's debt is estimated at more than $85 billion (about 155 percent of GDP), Haaretz said.
