Sept. 11, 2001: A South Florida man known as Adnan El Shukrijumah
Sept. 11, 2001: Suicide hijackers Mohamed Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi trained at a flight school in Venice, and their accomplice Ziad Jarrah took lessons a block away from the school. Atta and al-Shehhi were responsible for the jets that flew into the World Trade Center, and Jarrah controlled the plane that crashed in rural Pennsylvania. Reports say that at least 14 out of the 19 terrorists responsible for Sept. 11 spent time in South Florida, with at least 12 of them in Palm Beach County. Sept. 11, 2001: A Saudi family that left their Sarasota home weeks before Sept. 11 had ties to those associated with the terrorist attacks, according to FBI reports. Three of the family members were tied to the Venice flight school where two suicide hijackers from Sept. 11 were trained. The names of the three individuals were blanked out from official documents, but the home in Sarasota was that of Abdulaziz al-Hijji. Feb. 20, 2003: Former University of South Florida professor Sami Al-Arian was indicted, alleged to be a leader of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and complicit in the murder of civilians. He was arrested in his Tampa home. Years later, Al-Arian ended up taking a plea deal on greatly reduced charges. He was deported to Turkey on Feb. 5, 2015. Nov. 22, 2005: Former South Florida resident Jose Padilla was indicted on charges of conspiring to commit terrorist acts. He lived in Fort Lauderdale for an unspecified time where he prayed at Al-Iman mosque. He was transferred to Miami's federal detention facility after the indictment. Before the indictment, Padilla was held as an "enemy combatant" in U.S. Defense Department custody. He was previously arrested in 2002 for allegedly attempting to detonate a "dirty bomb" in the United States. And on and on it goes.

Al-Qaeda mystery man still sought, ten years later |
2011-09-11 |
Adnan El Shukrijumah left his family's home in 2001 and went to Trinidad on business supposedly to buy sunglasses and children's clothes for resale in South Florida flea markets. Ten years later, Shukrijumah is a fugitive -- sought by the FBI as a leading operative for al-Qaida amid lingering questions about his possible association with key 9/11 hijackers before the terrorist attacks. He's also under indictment charged with directing a suicide-bomb plot in 2009 against the New York City subway system. The reward for his capture: $5 million. Shukrijumah is especially dangerous because of the time he spent in America. His whereabouts -- and whether he played a direct role in 9/11 -- remains among the key unanswered questions a decade after the attacks. Shukrijumah is now a top member and perhaps the head of al-Qaida's foreign operations subcommittee, according to terror expert Rohan Gunaratna. Gunaratna said, "He has moved up in the ranks because he's very clever and because he knows the main target, the United States." |

Al Qaeda Leader: Materials Smuggled Across Border
2006-11-04 | ||||
A NEWSCHANNEL 5 investigation reveals what the feds don't want you to know. Suspected terrorists are hiding inside the U.S. and they got here by sneaking across the Mexican border. What we've been reporting for more than a year has been confirmed by a government report just released.
And a brand new interview by Pakistani investigative reporter Hamid Mir is bringing in more information. Mir has interviewed some of America's most dangerous terrorist enemies. This time the Al Qaeda commander he talked to gave a grim warning that another attack on America is coming very soon. "We can attack America anytime," says Abu Dawood during the interview. He also told the reporter that Muslims must leave America. Mir says, "Abu Dawood told me, 'We are determined to attack America again and that attack will be bigger than 9/11." The Al Qaeda commander says the attack will be led by Adnan El Shukrijumah. He goes by many aliases but is called Brother Adnan by his terrorist friends. Brother Adnan is wanted by the feds for possible terrorist threats against the U.S. He's considered armed and dangerous According to the Pakistani reporter, Dawood said Brother Adnan "had smuggled some dangerous materials from the Mexican border to inside the United States of America." "It's the kind of scenario that worries everybody," says Fred Burton, a former special agent for the U.S. State Department. Burton spent much of his federal career studying terrorists, predicting their next move. He now does the same thing at Stratfor, a private intelligence agency in Austin.
NEWSCHANNEL 5 asked Burton about the threat. "I think it has to be viewed credible, until proven otherwise," he says. The former special agent tells us the U.S. government is well aware Al Qaeda's been working hard to get a dirty bomb into the country, an explosive packed with nuclear materials small enough to carry in a suitcase. Smugglers have been caught 300 times in the past four years trying to sneak in radioactive material, which could be used to make a dirty bomb. That's what the International Atomic Energy Agency told the London Times last month.
Burton says there are several specific locations in Houston, which if hit, could carry out a devastating terrorist attack on U.S. soil. However Burton also says if Al Qaeda really does have a dirty bomb, border cities are much more vulnerable to attack, because he says terrorists don't want to get caught. "You'd want to bring that in right across the border, and you'd want to detonate that as soon as you can," he explains. We asked who would be at risk. "You would look at cities such as El Paso or Brownsville," he replied. For law enforcement, it's a very big worry, says Zapata County Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez Jr. He testified to lawmakers in Washington about the dangers of terrorists and terrorist weapons getting smuggled in through South Texas. The sheriff tells us his biggest fear is that something could go wrong with a bomb. "We're not prepared," he says. The possible dangers are also a concern to U.S. Congressman Solomon Ortiz. He was among the first in Washington to sound the alarm about dangers at the border. Ortiz says, "The biggest threat is people coming in and we don't know who they are."
We're also learning these Middle Easterners are changing their Islamic names to Hispanic names, buying fake documents, learning Spanish and posing as Hispanic immigrants. Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo says there's even a training camp in Brazil teaching Middle Easterners how to blend in to the Mexican culture. According to government intelligence, Middle Eastern aliens from countries known to harbor terrorists are smuggled to staging areas in places like Venezuela and the tri-border region between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. Then they're smuggled again through Mexico and our border right into the U.S. There's a big payoff for those who sneak them in. Mexican illegals pay smugglers an average of $2,000. Middle Easterners pay as much as thirty times that amount, up to $60,000! "I don't think they really care who they're bringing across, as long as they get paid for it," says Texas Congressman Michael McCaul. He put out the report, which also says Islamic terrorist groups may be using Mexico as a refuge. During our investigation, we found out a lot of people from suspicious countries are crossing right here in South Texas. Since 9/11, literally hundreds of illegal aliens have been caught here from places like Iraq, Iran, Syria, Egypt and Pakistan. Federal law enforcement estimates only ten to thirty percent of illegals who cross are actually caught. Governor Rick Perry says, "To think that international terrorists have not already exploited our border is naive."

Human smuggling and terrorism in Latin America |
2005-11-24 |
The road to the âAmerican Dreamâ for many illegal immigrants usually leads from home countries through Mexico and then into the U.S. Although almost all of these illegal immigrants are merely looking for a better life for themselves and their families, world-wide human trafficking routes provide ample opportunity for those wishing harm to the U.S. easy access into America. In spite of international efforts in the Americas to break up these human smuggling routes, there are still a number of avenues available whereby the potential terrorist can enter the United States. During 2004 and 2005, a number of individual Muslim and Middle Eastern illegal immigrants were captured in Central and South America. Some of the more unusual cases include: - A Turkish citizen with a false Dutch passport is arrested in Managua, Nicaragua on September 22, 2004. He had lived in Costa Rica for ten months and entered via Russia and Cuba. While attempting to board a flight to Canada, he was arrested by Nicaraguan authorities. [1] - Two Jordanians with false European passports were arrested at the San José International Airport in Costa Rica. Their route of travel included Cuba and Guatemala. The two attempted to bribe the Costa Rican authorities with a âlarge sum of moneyâ [2]. Almost all newspaper reports place the illegal immigrants as having passed through Moscow and/or Cuba. - In early 2005, Spanish and Italian intelligence and police agencies informed Argentine authorities that members of the fundamentalist Jamaat Tabligh Movement were in Argentina after having attended a meeting in Chile. Spanish authorities believe that members of the European wing of the Movement had been recruited by al-Qaeda to participate in the Madrid bombings. The arrival of 26 members of the movement was confirmed by Argentine Muslim authorities. Members who had entered Argentina included citizens of Malaysia, Syria, Egypt, Qatar, Pakistan and South Africa. Argentine authorities believe that the Islamic fundamentalists are in Argentina in order to recruit members with Argentine passports. When traveling, such individuals will receive considerably less scrutiny by security personnel than those from obviously Muslim countries. Mexican, Honduran, and Peruvian authorities were able to break up three major human smuggling rings. The Mexican and Peruvian rings specialized in transporting Middle Easterners and the Honduran Ring specialized in transporting Chinese into the U.S. All of these individuals were brought into Central or South America and then through Mexico into the U.S. In mid-2003, one of the Mexican smuggling rings was run by an individual named Salim Boughader Mucharrafille. Boughader is identified only as an Arab. The ring worked primarily out of Tijuana, Mexico. Mexican authorities believed that the ring consisted of 14 individuals, seven of whom have been captured. The Mexican Foreign Ministry employee Imelda Ortiz allegedly worked with this gang while stationed with the Mexican Consulate in Lebanon. She is alleged to have provided a visa to Mexico for Al Afani Sghir, an alleged Shiâite extremist [3]. In late 2003, the second Mexican ring was run by a Pakistani National Ali Ganzafar Houssein. Ganzafarâs ring operated from the Mexican Southern states of Chiapas and Tabasco through Veracruz up to Matamoros, Tamaulipas on the border with Brownsville, Texas. Ganzafar is alleged to have had numerous connections to Central and South American human trafficking rings. In November 2003, he was arrested at the Mexico City International Airport attempting to board an aircraft for Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In April 2005, the Honduran Director for Immigration Affairs was arrested for involvement in human trafficking. He worked with Chinese âmafiasâ to smuggle Chinese, Afghan, and Pakistani citizens into Honduras and then into the U.S. One of the most common routes for the illegal aliens was through Havana, Cuba where they would be provided with false documents such as Honduran or European passports [4]. In September 2005, Peruvian and U.S. authorities were able to smash a human smuggling ring which ran from Peru to the U.S. A Jordanian citizen was apprehended in Peru and three Iraqi-born U.S. citizens were arrested in Chicago. The Jordanian arrived in Peru from Amsterdam in June 2004. This ring allegedly specialized in smuggling Arab and Middle Easterners into the U.S. The chart below compares the number of illegal immigrants detained in Mexico by the Instituto Nacional de Migración (INM - Mexican National Immigration Institute) in 2004 and 2005. In 2004, the number of Ethiopians was not significant enough to be on the official statistical chart; yet in 2005, there were a total of 128. In addition, Eritreans are known to use Ethiopian passports. The number of Chinese detained in 2005 nearly doubled from 2004. The number of âall othersâ increased by more than 100. Statistics for the capture of illegal immigrants in other Central and South American countries are not available. One of the active Salafi organizations in Mexico is run by Omar Weston. Born Mark Weston, he is a British subject who converted to Islam in Orlando, FL, and established the Centro Cultural Islámico de México (Islamic Cultural Center of Mexico) in Mexico City. Weston has a masterâs degree in Shariâah law from Medina University and is currently running an Islamic retreat on Lake Tequesquitengo near Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. The original center in Mexico City has been renamed Centro Salafi de México (Salafi Center of Mexico) and is now being run by Muhammad Abdullah Ruiz, a Mexican convert and former deputy to Weston. Although the actual size of the retreat is not known, from photos it appears to encompass at least four acres. The retreat is directly on the lake shore and is accessible by road, boat, and two airports. These two organizations maintain contact and are affiliated with Salafi groups and/or individuals in the Mexican states of Coahuila, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Jalisco, Nuevo León, Sinaloa, and Veracruz. The Mexican Secretary of Governance (Interior) stated that there are a number of international terrorist cells active in Mexico, including ETA, FARC, and Islamic groups. In a report issued by Centro de Investigación y Seguridad Nacional (CISEN - National Center for Investigation and Security), these three groups are allegedly operating primarily in the Federal District and the states of Distrito Federal, Querétaro, México State, Oaxaca, Nuevo León, and Coahuila. Although there are Muslim communities in the states of Coahuila, Veracruz, Morelos, Mexico City, Jalisco, Chiapas, Nuevo León, Quintana Roo, and Yucatán, Mexican authorities believe that there are radical support cells only in Torreón, Coahuila and Mexico City. These federal authorities believe that these support groups are involved in human trafficking, telephone fraud, and automobile theft [6]. In May 2004, Said Ould Bah, representative of the Islamic Organization for Culture, Science, and Education in Honduras sponsored a meeting of Muslims from 24 Latin American nations. The original meeting was to have taken place in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. However, for reasons of âpressure in Hondurasâ from unidentified sources, the meeting was moved to Guatemala City and scheduled for late June 2004 [7]. In late June 2004, Omar Weston scheduled an international meeting with Islamic speakers from all over the world to include the UK, Pakistan, Panama, and the U.S. at the retreat on Lake Tequesquitengo. The meeting was originally scheduled for late June or early July 2004. The meeting was postponed until July 24 through August 8, 2004 [8]. According to Central American authorities, the transnational gang Mara Salvatrucha may have become involved with Islamic militants [9]. The Mexican train routes (both east and west) are the primary means for illegal immigrants to transit Mexico on their way to the U.S. Up to 99% of these are freight and not passenger trains. The Mara Salvatrucha are controlling the eastern Mexican train route Transportación Ferroviaria Mexicana (TFM - Mexican Rail Line Transportation) which runs from Chiapas to Tabasco through Veracruz to northern Mexico. Rumors are that they are also beginning to control the west coast train route Transportación MarÃtima Mexicana (TMM - Mexican Maritime Transport) [10]. Salvatrucha members extort sexual favors or money from the illegal immigrants in order to allow them to board the empty freight cars. If the âtaxesâ are not paid, the immigrant could be beaten, thrown off the train, or even killed [11]. In addition to their control of the train routes, Salvatrucha members are known to be working as protection for drug cartels as they smuggle their contraband into the U.S. [12]. A number of Arabs, Middle Easterners, and other Muslims are still using Central America and parts of South America as jumping off points. With the break-up of a number of human trafficking organizations specializing in Middle Easterners and Arabs, illegal immigrants (to include potential terrorists) have had to look for other avenues for entering the U.S. Two conceivable avenues of entry are: 1) the current Salafi network in Mexico which currently runs from the southernmost state of Chiapas to the northern Mexican border (many of the elements of this Islamic network are located at or near the train lines of the TMM and the TFM. These elements could provide any needed support to potential terrorists traveling via rail); and 2) The Mara Salvatrucha are a violent gang with no allegiance to any country or cause except their gang. As they control the rail lines through Mexico, terrorists wishing to use the trains as a way of entering the U.S. would have to do via the Mara Salvatrucha. Of further interest was the postponement of the two international Islamic conferences. Both conferences took place in rather isolated areas and occurred approximately one month before the al-Qaeda operative Adnan El Shukrijumah was alleged to have been seen in the northern Mexican state of Sonora. Part of the Salafi network includes several Muslims in Hermosillo, Sonora, not far from the U.S. Border [13]. The number of illegal immigrants detained by Mexican authorities in 2005 decreased as compared to 2004. However, the number of South Americans, Ethiopians, Chinese, and âall othersâ increased significantly. This increase, in all probability, included a significant number of Arabs. South America, especially in the Tri-Border area, has a very large Arab/Muslim population. This combined with the recruitment efforts of the Jamaat Tabligh Movement in Argentina and the significant increase of Ethiopians and âall othersâ increases exponentially the possibility that terrorists are making their way from South and Central America through Mexico and into the U.S. |

Al-Qaedaâs up to no good
2003-11-28 | |
A top counterterrorism official says al-Qaeda operatives dropped plans this year for several small attacks in the USA to focus on plotting a "more spectacular" assault comparable to the Sept. 11 attacks. Probably fall-out from Khalid Sheikh Mohammedâs arrest. The U.S. counterterrorism official, who has access to all intelligence on the terrorist group, told USA TODAY this week that officials have no specific evidence to indicate how or when al-Qaeda might try to launch a massive strike on U.S. soil. But, the official said, interviews with al-Qaeda detainees, intercepts of communications from suspected operatives and other sources have yielded evidence that Osama bin Ladenâs network still has a command structure and a determination to launch an attack that might rival the suicide hijackings. We know that the guy sent over here to do just that was Adnan El Shukrijumah and that the last time anybody saw him up in Maine, he was supposed in the company of a middle management type named Jdey. I donât exactly like the fact that thereâs been a BOLO on this guy since March and yet heâs just managed to melt into the background - thereâs no way in hell he could do that without help from other people here. "Itâs clear that al-Qaeda wants to strike here" and that it continues to seek opportunities for "a catastrophic attack," said the official, who asked not to be identified. Recent intelligence reports indicate that al-Qaeda remains fascinated by the idea of using aircraft as missiles, despite the additional security at U.S. airports since the 9/11 attacks. U.S. analysts still say explosives typically used in more limited assaults, including vehicle bombs in suicide attacks, remain al-Qaedaâs most likely weapon here. But intelligence reports suggest that some of the networkâs operatives think that an attack using chemical or biological weapons could be a way to top the 9/11 attacks, the official said.
Especially since, partisan politics aside, thereâs still a good chunk of Iraqi WMDs that was reported by UNMOVIC in 1998 and remains completely unaccounted for one way or another. There was a report in the Washington Post in December 2002 that Sammy slipped al-Qaeda some VX and God help us all if these folks have that, as theyâve exhibited the capacity for long-term planning for mass casualty attacks and may well do so again in the future. The latest intelligence on al-Qaedaâs possible intentions comes at a time of heightened tension about terrorism here and around the world. A series of deadly bombings of synagogues and British interests in Turkey has led some U.S. analysts to suggest al-Qaeda is starting a new wave of attacks. The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security told law enforcement agencies last week to be particularly mindful of security around cargo jets and chemical plants. U.S. officials, however, have not said they plan to raise the nationâs color-coded threat level. It is at code yellow (meaning there is an "elevated" risk of an attack), the midpoint on a five-level scale. It isnât clear whether more aggressive efforts by U.S. agents during the past two years â including their increased authority to do wiretaps and other types of surveillance â contributed to al-Qaedaâs apparent shift in strategy here this year. My guess would be yes. It also is unclear who is directing al-Qaedaâs strategy. Saif al-Adel seems to be the main driver these days and Zarqawiâs the pivot guy. Both are in Iran, which makes stopping them problematic until a few of the Black Hats roll. Bin Laden is said to be hiding along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. And analysts suspect it is difficult for him to plot strategy while being hunted. Though one recent report has placed him in Iran as well in his capacity as an honorary Black Hat ...

Hunt for Terror Suspect Amid âDirty Bombâ Fears |
2003-10-17 |
Last spotted in Canada, EFL: A wanted terror suspect travelled to Canada in search of material to make a âdirty bombâ, it was reported today. Adnan El Shukrijumah, a suspected senior al Qaida operative, is being hunted by the FBI and CIA who fear that he is plotting an attack on a US city with a crude radioactive device. The Washington Times cited intelligence sources who said the Saudi native was spotted last year in Hamilton, Ontario, posing as a student at McMaster University, which has a five-megawatt research reactor. Hummm, werenât there several "students" picked up in Canada and hadnât one of them been flying a plane around a reactor? Canât remember where. An FBI informant identified El Shukrijumah, 27, after a picture of the English-speaking suspect was issued by the FBI and posted on the agencyâs website in March. El Shukrijumahâs current whereabouts are unknown. He carries a Guyanese passport. Among others. According to the report, El Shukrijumah, who used to live in southern Florida, was identified by captured al Qaida leader Khalid Shaikh Mohammed. Thereâs that Florida connection again. The newspaper said the dirty bomb plot involved acquiring the materials from within the North American continent, rather than smuggling them in. Last month the FBI posted a worldwide lookout bulletin for El Shukrijumah and three other suspects. They were listed as potentially âarmed and dangerousâ. A posting on the agencyâs website says: âEl Shukrijumah has been identified by numerous detainees as a key al Qaida operative who could possibly be used to plan and carry out acts of terrorism against the US. El Shukrijumah was in the United States prior to September 11 and his current whereabouts are unknown. El Shukrijumah carries a Guyana passport, but may attempt to enter the US with a Saudi, Canadian, or Trinidad passport as well.â Heâs a true holy man. The FBI, CIA, Canadian Security Intelligence Service and Royal Canadian Mounted Police declined to comment on the Washington Times report. Nobodyâs talking, huh? The university could not confirm whether El Shukrijumah was ever a student as records are confidential. Bet heâs another one of those "students" who register at a school to get a visa, but never take any classes. |

FBI hunting for four men suspected of terrorist links
2003-09-05 | ||
Hat tip to LGF, which has the mugshots posted - thx Charles The FBI is "on the lookout" for four people, including two Saudi nationals, a Moroccan and a Tunisian-born man carrying a Canadian passport, suspected of involvement in terrorist activities. "These individuals should be considered armed and dangerous," an FBI official told AFP Friday, without specifying whether the men were still in the United States. One of the four men, Adnan El Shukrijumah â who holds passports from Saudi Arabia, Canada, Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago â s already known in US intelligence circles, where he is viewed as a threat to US national security. He is being sought on a material witness warrant in the US state of Virginia. All those passports, and heâs NOT Pakistani? Also being sought are Karim El Mejjati, a Moroccan-born man holding a French passport; Abderraouf Jdey, also considered a threat to US national security, who was born in Tunisia and holds a Canadian passport issued in Montreal; and Saudi national Zubayr Al-Rimi. According to an advisory issued by the Department of Homeland Security, al-Qaeda operatives are still developing plans to hijack airplanes for "aerial suicide attacks" against the United States. Boxcutters wonât do it this time a**holes...if you get torn apart by soccer momâs in midflight, do you still get your raisins?

Pakistani woman arrested for Qaeda links?
2003-04-06 | |
Site requires registration.. Aafia Siddiqui, a postgraduate in neurological science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, became the first woman to be arrested for being allegedly connected to Osama bin Ladenâs Al Qaeda when a raiding party consisting of Pakistani and FBI officials picked her up Friday from a house in Karachiâs Gulshan-e-Iqbal area. TFT has learnt that her husband Dr Mohammad Khan is also wanted by the agencies. He was at large until the filing of this report on Wednesday. A 1994 graduate of MIT, Aafia Siddiqui majored in biology, anthropology and archaeology and spent part of her college years in Pakistan. The MIT website informs visitors that university records show Siddiqui lived in an on-campus dorm in 1995 and listed her home address as Karachi. In 1992, Siddiqui received a US$5,000 Carroll L. Wilson Award, given to top students for research opportunities abroad for up to six weeks. Her proposed topic of study was "Islamisation in Pakistan and its Effects on Women.â An Islamic students Internet site also features articles posted by Siddiqui and containing instructions for handing out Islamic literature on campus and establishing Muslim college student associations. I guess she isn't aware how women are treated under 'Islamisation'..
The FBI issued a worldwide search notice for her and the US media reported that Siddiqui was the first woman âactively helping Osama bin Ladenâs al-Qaeda organisationâ. According to reports, she lived in Boston before she disappeared. She was born on March 2, 1972, in Pakistan. In that notice, the FBI wrote: âAlthough Aafia Siddiquiâs current whereabouts are unknown, the FBI believes she is currently in Pakistan.â A terrorist in Pakistan? The FBI alleges that she acted as a âfixerâ for Al Qaeda. The term means she moved money to provide logistical support for terrorist activities and had contacts with extremists in Pakistan. An FBI latest report accuses that being a woman helps Aafia, as âfew would suspect a Western-educated woman with children as a terrorist." Siddiqui is a mother of three children. The US officials suspect that Siddiqui may have been providing logistical support to Adnan El Shukrijumah, a 27-year-old Saudi national, also known as Jaffar the pilot, sought by the FBI on suspicion of plotting terrorist attacks in the United States. She may also have accompanied El Shukrijumah in his travels inside the United States. It is unclear when and where Siddiqui might have met El Shukrijumah, whose name surfaced among the belongings of reputed senior Al Qaeda organiser Khalid Shaikh Mohammad when he was arrested on March 1 in Pakistan. US officials believe El Shukrijumah was an associate of Jose Padilla, a former Chicago street-gang member who was arrested in the wake of September 11 attacks on suspicion of plotting a âdirty bombâ attack. FBI sources say El Shukrijumah is trained to carry out terrorist attacks and is not merely a senior planner or financier. Recently, the FBI announced that it had obtained information detailing a chemical weapon made with easily available items. âThe device could produce toxic gas such as hydrogen cyanide or chlorine gas and be used as a weapon of mass destructionâ. The FBI warned that these weapons might include the use of a pierced canister, such as a paint can. The larger canister houses another container that may contain a liquid, which would be surrounded by a solid material. When combined, the chemicals produce the toxic gas which would leak through the holes in the outer canister. Sources said the FBI suspects that Aafia Siddiqui, her husband and some other âMuslims with advanced technical qualificationâ were involved in developing formulas that could enable the terrorist organisations making lethal weapons and explosives to be used across United States.
