[KavkazUzel] The court found a resident of Dagestan guilty of financing terrorism for providing monetary assistance to members of a terrorist organization and sentenced her to eight years in prison.

The investigation and the court established that in December 2021 and January 2022, a resident of Makhachkala participated in the activities of an international terrorist organization,
... ISIS, Al Qaeda, Hizb-ut Tahrir? Something else altogether? It really wouldn’t be that hard for the reporter to give us a hint...
providing financial assistance to its participants, the investigative department of the Investigative Committee for Dagestan reported.

The woman was found guilty of financing terrorism (Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia). She was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment in a general regime colony, according to today’s message on the department’s website.

The "Caucasian Knot" also wrote that in July the court found a resident of the Khasavyurt district, Abdurakhman Abdurakhmanov,
...among other activities, he sent funds to ISIS jihadi Abdulkadir Masharipov, a Uighur, who killed 39 at the Reina nightclub in Istanbul on January 1, 2017...
guilty of promoting terrorism and participating in the activities of a terrorist organization for transferring a thousand dollars to a member of a terrorist organization and sentenced him to 5.5 years in prison.

Accused Istanbul gunman may face 40 life terms
2020-01-29
[Hurriyet Daily News] The accused gunman in a 2017 nightclub attack in Istanbul which killed 39 people could face 40 aggravated life sentences.

A court in the Ottoman Turkish metropolis Istanbul on Jan. 27 indicted Abdulkadir Masharipov, an Uzbek national, on charges of murder and being a member of an armed terrorist group, according to judicial sources.

Istanbul’s Heavy Penal Court No. 27 also requested aggravated life imprisonment for Masharipov for attempting to overthrow the constitutional order, said the sources, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

The indictment centers on the deadly gun attack at the Reina nightclub in the early hours of Jan. 1, 2017, which also injured 70 people.

A total of 58 suspects were mentioned in the indictment. Eighteen are in jug and prosecutors recommended acquittal for eight others.

If convicted, Masharipov could face 15 years in prison on charges of being a member of an armed terrorist group plus 2,370 years in total for injuring 79 people in the shooting spree.

The indictment also calls for the same sentences for Masharipov's wife Zarina Nurullayeva as well as alleged co-conspirators Ilyas Mamasaripov, Abdurrauf Sert, and Ali Jameel Mohammed, who, according to prosecutors, were the criminal masterminds behind the plot.

Istanbul massacre gunman refuses to testify as trial opens
2017-12-12
The mustache wax and Number 4 truncheon did not perform as advertised? Truly the Turks have degenerated under the rule of Sultan Recep Tayip Erdogan I, known to himself as the much beloved.
[YAHOO] An Uzbek jihadist who confessed to killing 39 people at an Istanbul nightclub in a New Year gun attack refused to testify Monday on the first day of his trial as his wife denied any links to krazed killers.

Abdulkadir Masharipov, 34 at the time of the attack, went on trial at the Silivri prison complex near Istanbul along with 56 other suspects.

Masharipov, who was present in court, faces 40 life sentences, one for each of the victims and the massacre itself.

The others on trial include Masharipov's wife Zarina Nurullayeva who is a suspected accomplice and risks similar penalties to her husband. All but six are being held in jug.

Masharipov is facing charges ranging from "attempting to destroy constitutional order" and "membership of an armed terrorist organization", to "murdering more than one person".

According to the indictment, the order for the Afghanistan-trained Masharipov to carry out the attack was given by a senior Russian Syria-based IS krazed killer named Islam Atabiev, codenamed Abu Jihad.

Masharipov -- dressed in a sweater and jeans -- was seated between two members of the Ottoman Turkish gendarmerie and kept well away from the other defendants in court.

When given the chance to speak by the judge, he used his right to silence and refused to testify, speaking in Uzbek translated into Ottoman Turkish.

Two Afghan ISIS Suspects Arrested in Izmir for Plotting Terrorist Attack
2017-06-07
[Asharq al-Aswat] A court in the western Turkish city of Izmir on Monday sentenced two Afghans for being pro-ISIS and for carrying out reconnaissance in favor of the terrorist organization, preparing for a terrorist attack.

Security sources said the anti-terrorist and intelligence forces of the Izmir Security Directorate tossed in the slammer
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
the two Afghan snuffies at the main bus station in the city after suspicion and seized from them documents related to ISIS.

Sources pointed out that investigations have revealed that the detainees belong to the terrorist organization and have links to the areas of festivities in Syria and Iraq and that they came to Izmir to carry out reconnaissance in preparation for the implementation of a terrorist attack in the city.

Following the investigation, the two suspects were transferred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which in turn referred them to the court that sentenced them to jail.

Turkish security forces continue its intensified campaigns throughout the country, targeting terrorist organizations, mainly ISIS, in which 4,000 ISIS suspects and snuffies have been arrested since the beginning of 2017.

Due to these operations, ISIS has failed to commit any terrorist attack in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

following the attack that was carried out by the Uzbek ISIS myrmidon, Abdulkadir Masharipov, who operated under the cover name Abu Mohammed Horasani, on Reina nightclub, killing 39 people and injuring 69 others of different nationalities.

Izmir has witnessed a series of security campaigns that resulted in the arrest of about 100 ISIS sleeper cells, most of them from Uzbekistan and Central Asian countries, in connection with Masharipov, who was arrested on January 16 in Istanbul.

In this context, the Turkish Interior Ministry announced on Monday that a total of 48 outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) holy warriors have been neutralized in 548 operations across Turkey over the past week; a number of ISIS snuffies were also detained in the same period.

group had grabbed credit for the mass shootings at the upscale Reina nightclub.

Turkey’s Anadolu Agency said the Istanbul chief prosecutor’s office demanded in a 90-page indictment that Masharipov receive life sentences for each of the 39 victims and for attempting to overturn Turkey’s constitutional order. Masharipov, 34, also faces separate charges of membership in a terror group, the attempted murder of 79 people maimed in the attack and other alleged crimes, Anadolu said.

It is not unusual for Turkish prosecutors to demand multiple life sentences in cases of violence that result in victims.
The prosecutor’s indictment also seeks sentences of varying lengths -- ranging from life to maximum 15 years in prison -- for 52 alleged accomplices of Masharipov’s, the private Dogan news agency reported.

A court in Istanbul needs to approve the indictment before a trial date may be set.

A lawyer appointed to represent Masharipov could not immediately be reached for comment.

Turkish media have quoted Masharipov as telling his interrogators that he had received orders to carry out a New Year’s Eve attack in Istanbul from Raqqa, the de facto capital of the IS group in Syria.

ISIS leader who planned Istanbul nightclub attack killed in US ground raid
2017-04-22
[ABCNEWS.GO] A "close associate" of ISIS leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
was killed in a U.S. ground raid in Syria on April 6, U.S. Central Command said today. The raid targeted him for his role in planning the deadly New Years Eve nightclub attack in Istanbul, which killed 39 civilians.

"Abdurakhmon Uzbeki, an ISIS operative, was killed by U.S. forces working on operation near al Mayadin Syria to kill him," Colonel John Thomas, the front man for U.S. Central Command, told Pentagon news hounds in phone briefing today.

Al Mayadin is southeast of Dayr Az Zawr in the Euphrates River Valley.

Thomas described Uzbeki as "a close associate" of al-Baghdadi who "was known to interact with him in various ways over time." Centcom has confirmed over the past two weeks that Uzbeki was killed in the raid.

The front man described him as facilitating the movement of ISIS foreign terror fighters and funds. Uzbeki played a key role in ISIS external terror attack plotting and Thomas said he was "clearly linked" to the deadly Istanbul nightclub shooting attack on New Year's Eve.

That deadly attack was carried out by Abdulkadir Masharipov, an Uzbeki national, on behalf of ISIS.

Masharipov fired on hundreds of revelers at the trendy Reina nightclub killing 39 people and injuring dozens of others before he expeditiously departed at a goodly pace. He was captured in a police raid in Istanbul two weeks after the attack and, according to Turkish authorities, confessed to his role in the attack.

Uzbeki is believed to have been involved in planning the attack.

Thomas described the April 6 ground raid in Syria targeting Uzbeki "as an operation in order to eliminate him." The raid was conducted by American special operations forces, said a defense official.

Since late 2015 an "expeditionary targeting force" has operated inside Iraq and Syria targeting senior ISIS leaders. Typically their ground operations are not disclosed.

20 ISIS suspects detained in Turkey
2017-04-13
Ankara – Turkish security forces arrested 20 ISIS suspects during two separate raids in Konya and Adana on Tuesday.

Counter-terror forces arrested 14 people in a security operation against ISIS in Konya, according to security sources.

Konya has witnessed a number of anti-terror campaigns targeting ISIS militants after a terrorist attack that was carried out by Uzbek national Abdulkadir Masharipov on Reina nightclub in Istanbul on New Year’s Eve that led to the death of 39 people and injured dozens.

During these raids, security forces have arrested dozens of those related to the perpetrator of the terrorist attack and most of them were from Central Asia.

Moreover, Turkish security forces arrested 6 suspects during a security operation against ISIS in Adana while 10 others are still on the run.

Security sources said that Turkish anti-terrorism police raided number of addresses in Adana city center that were specified earlier in the framework of efforts exerted to combat ISIS.

Turkish Security forces have launched a series of security operations targeting ISIS during the past few months and arrested hundreds of foreign ISIS militants.

Among those arrested were some Iraqi, Lebanese and Syrian nationals in Adana, who intended to sneak to Europe and carry out terrorist attacks there.

ISIS terrorist organization has already claimed responsibility for a number of terrorist assaults that have resulted in many casualties in Turkey throughout 2016 and earlier this year.

In a common matter, the Consulate General of Russia in Istanbul asked the Turkish authorities for information on deportation of Akbarjon Jalilova, who carried out the terrorist attack in St. Petersburg metro last week.

Turkey nightclub attacker reportedly asks for death penalty
2017-02-14
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An ISIS hard boy who attacked a famous nightclub at the heart of Istanbul has reportedly asked to be given a death sentence in his testimony.

Uzbek-origin Abdulkadir Masharipov, who killed 39 people and maimed 65 others, said that "it would be good if he was given capital punishment," daily Sabah reported on Feb. 13.

During his testimony, Masharipov said he was a member of ISIS but had not participated in any attacks by the hard boy organization before the Reina attack.

"I wanted to stage the attack on Christians in order to exact Dire Revenge on them for their acts committed all over the world. My aim was to kill Christians. Abu Cihad, who is in Syria, told me to carry out the attack in Taksim, saying ’Christians are gathering in Taksim,’" Masharipov said, adding that he could not stage the attack in Taksim due to strict security measures.

"There were coppers everywhere. I changed my mind. I called Abu Cihad and told him that I can’t carry out the attack there. Then I went to scope out Reina. Abu Cihad sent me the address and photos of Reina. I constantly texted him. I didn’t see him face-to-face. I went in front of Reina and there were no coppers or security," he said.

Noting that he wanted to kill himself after staging the attack, Masharipov said he was planning to do so in order not to "fall hostage."

"When I was out of bullets, I threw two stun grenades. I put the third one near my face to commit suicide, but I didn’t die. I survived, but I entered Reina to die," he said, adding that he did not regret his actions.

"I took vengeance," he said.

At least 39 people, including a police officer, were killed when Masharipov opened fire on New Year’s revelers in the nightclub in the Ortaköy neighborhood at about 1:15 a.m. on Jan. 1.

Masharipov was captured in the Esenyurt district of Istanbul late on Jan. 16. He was tossed in the slammer
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
on Feb. 11.

Meanwhile,
...back at the palazzo, Count Guido stepped from behind the suit of armor, rapier in hand. Ciccolini snarled and reached for his own weapon...
it has emerged that Masharipov recorded a "farewell video" before staging the attack. In the video recorded on Dec. 27, 2016, the ISIS hard boy is seen saying he will stage a suicide kaboom, daily Haberturk reported on Feb. 12.

According to the footage, Masharipov advises his son to become a jacket wallah like himself. The authorities are attempting to determine whether the video was recorded by the ISIS hard boy’s wife, Zarina Nurullayeva.

Reina terrorist’s second target was Cumhuriyet
2017-01-30
[Hurriyet Daily News] Very important evidence has been accessed during the interrogation of Reina nightclub murderer Abdulkadir Masharipov, who was caught by Istanbul police on Jan. 16. His capture alive helped give information about several of his connections. If only the assassin of Russian Ambassador Andrey Karlov, Mevlut Mert Altintas, had been caught alive we could have learned of any connection between the Karlov liquidation and the 2015 downing of the Russian jet. We could have learned who he took the order from and, most importantly, deciphered whether he was part of a FETÖ liquidation team.

According to information provided by Masharipov so far, there were three potential targets on the night of the Reina attack. One of them was the office of daily Cumhuriyet in Istanbul. When the Cumhuriyet address was given to him, it was defined as "the newspaper that insulted the prophet." But they decided not to attack the paper because there would not have been many people there on that night. So Masharipov was directed toward Reina.

He killer checked three different addresses on Dec. 31. He went to Taksim Square and told his partners in Syria that the square would not be suitable for an attack. He told the headquarters in Syria that because of the strict security measures and because of the rain, turnout in Taksim would be low.

In Syria he called Raqqa, speaking to the "emir" for The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, who wanted to stage an attack that would be heard worldwide. He then apparently made checks around the Cumhuriyet building in Istanbul’s Sisli district. This could be verified by reviewing camera footage around the paper.

Why Cumhuriyet? In the order sent from Raqqa, it is defined as "the newspaper that insulted the prophet." The order also makes a connection between the Charlie Hebdo
...A lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe...
attack and Cumhuriyet. The Charlie Hebdo magazine was attacked on Jan. 7, 2015 in La Belle France by ISIS bad boys, killing 11, after which daily Cumhuriyet printed the Charlie Hebdo cover in the name of solidarity.

Ultimately, Masharipov was directed to Reina. If a different order had come, our colleagues working at Cumhuriyet on New Year’s Eve would have been targeted.

Communication was done through the Telegram messaging app on Masharipov’s mobile. The final order for the massacre at Reina also came through Telegram, accompanied by images of people dancing and having fun in the club. Police have found no evidence of any accomplice inside the club.

It is said that Masharipov has looked very professional during his interrogation. Gravely, he is apparently determined that if he was released today he would stage the same attack again.

After the massacre, he went to see his wife and took his 4.5-year-old son. His plan was to take a ferry to Canakkale, then to Izmir, and then to Hatay, from where he would cross to Syria. There was his escape plan, but ISIS did not hand him his son, ruining his initial plans.

He said he had married in a religious wedding with the Egyptian woman who was with him from the beginning in Istanbul, identified as Tene Trare.

Tene Trare started talking when it dawned on her that her husband would leave her and run away to Syria, taking their son as well as his Egyptian lover.

Clearly, even if you are a terrorist its best not to play with a woman’s feelings.

Iraq and Levant (ISIS) members in connection with a deadly attack on an Istanbul nightclub in the early hours of the new year, a police official said Jan. 26.

The suspects are women of foreign nationality, the official said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Police said the women possessed fake passports, false Syrian identities and were planning terror attacks at tourist locations in Izmir.

The women are among 21 suspects who were detained Jan. 4 by counter-terrorism officers at four addresses in the Bornova and Buca districts of Izmir.

Investigations are underway on the remaining 10 male suspects.

All 21 suspects are believed to have lived in the Central Anatolian province of Konya with the suspected attacker of the Istanbul club, Abdulkadir Masharipov, according to officials.

Police seized 41 foreign passports, considered fake, and 15 false identity documents issued to foreign nationals in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

, during the Jan. 4 operation.

Police said they found a GPS device at one address that was used in conflict areas, adding that ISIS members determined meeting points by positioning each other with the device.

The suspects were in contact with ISIS in conflict areas, according to police. They also gave the impression that they had rented a house with their families and were living a normal life in Izmir, police added.

Night vision equipment, a sniper scope, an ammunition belt and other military equipment were also found during the raids, according to police.

At least 39 people, including a police officer, were killed when Masharipov allegedly shot up the Reina nightclub in the Ortaköy neighborhood at about 1:15 a.m. on Jan. 1.

Masharipov was captured last week on the outskirts of Istanbul late on Jan. 16.

I don’t want to sell entertainment at site of massacre, Reina co-owner says

[Hurriyet Daily News] The co-owner of the Reina nightclub, which was attacked by the Islamic State

of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) on Jan. 1, has said he no longer wishes to provide entertainment in a place in which a total of 39 people died and 65 people were maimed.

"Because of the villains, we sent bodies all over the world. I don’t want to sell entertainment in a place in which many people died. There are also many maimed people," Ali Ünal told daily Haberturk, noting that he could not host people and play music at the location again.

Dubbing Reina one of the biggest brands in the world, Ünal said the brand needed to live on.
"Yes, this brand needs to live, but no one told us to make it live," he said, criticizing authorities for not calling him.

"I don’t know if anyone called [the other co-owner] Mehmet Kocarslan, but no one called me. No one even called me from the Tourism Ministry," he said.

Ünal said he was at the door of the nightclub when the attack began.

"When I fell to the ground, [confessed attacker Abdulkadir Masharipov] thought I was dead. I lost my friends and customers there. I can’t do business [there]. I don’t know if Kocarslan can or can’t," he said.

During the interview, Ünal said he would not quit the entertainment business, but would not manage Reina in that area.

"I need to do my job. I’m doing this job and I understand it. I earn money from it. I do everything in the food and beverage sector. I do weddings and receptions. I can also run a buffet. However,
it was a brave man who first ate an oyster...
I don’t want to run Reina in that area," he also said.
