Aid group says Libyan militia is holding hostage 60 migrants
2020-10-11
[AlAhram] A Libyan gang is holding hostage at least 60 migrants colonists, including two dozen children, in "appalling"' conditions after abducting them almost two weeks ago, an aid group said on Saturday.

Masked faceless myrmidons kidnapped the migrants colonists on Sept. 28 from the town of al-Ajaylat, around 80 kilometers west of the capital, Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, according to Medecins Sans Frontieres. The statement said that the gang initially took hostage around 350 migrants colonists, mainly from West Africa, but that most of the migrants colonists managed to escape while some others were released.

The aid group said that it had notified the Libyan government's agency for combatting illegal migration two days after the abduction, and later visited the warehouse where the migrants colonists were held.

``We found over 350 women, children, and men sleeping on the ground in appalling living conditions without access to water, showers, or toilets,'' said Guillaume Baret, MSF's head of mission in Libya.

The militia stole valuable items and identification documents from the migrants colonists, before taking them to a warehouse guarded by gunnies in the nearby coastal city of Sabratha, the biggest launching point for the mainly African migrants colonists who make the dangerous voyage across the Mediterranean Sea, the group said.

The Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
-based organization, also known as Doctors Without Borders, said that the remaining hostages are being held by the militia at a former military base.

Two Sabratha residents and one migrant said most of the gunnies belong to a militia known as al-Ammu, which the U.N. Panel of Experts on Libya identified in 2017 as main controllers of human trafficking. The migrant said the faceless myrmidons are likely seeking ransom from families of the held migrants colonists, or to sell them to other traffickers.

Al-Ammu and another militia, called the Brigade 48, are headed by two brothers from the area's large al-Dabashi family. Both militias are affiliated with the U.N.-supported government in Tripoli.
...which has been paying them lots of Italy’s money to prevent migrants from continuing on to Europe. They certainly appear to be continuing to hold up their end of the deal.
The residents and migrant spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals. A front man for the Tripoli-based interior ministry did not answer phone calls and messages seeking comment.

The aid group said its medics were only allowed to consult with women and kiddies among the captive migrants colonists, and they were not allowed to treat men. A shooting reportedly broke out following an attempted escape on Oct. 2, and at least three people were killed, it said.

"The situation at the warehouse was tense, with gunnies firing shots into the air,'' the group's statement added.

The migrants colonists' abduction shows the perils that refugees and migrants colonists face in war-torn Libya, with those trapped in the country unable to ``escape violence or find safety,'' according to MSF.

Libya has emerged as a major transit point for African and Arab migrants colonists fleeing violence and poverty to Europe, after the North African country collapsed into civil war following the overthrow and killing in 2011 of longtime dictator Muammar Qadaffy
...The late megalomaniac dictator of Libya, admired everywhere for his garish costumes, funny hats, harem of cutie bodyguards, and incoherent ravings. As far as is known, he is the only person who's ever declared jihad on Switzerland...

OC Pradeep’s ‘torture cell’ at Teknaf police station
2020-08-10
[Dhaka Tribune] It was December 3, 2019. Abdul Jalil, a CNG auto rickshaw driver, was picked up by some men in white clothes from Cox's Bazar’s Adalat Para. On the same day, Saddam Hussein, 20, son of the late Sultan Ahmed of Maulvi Bazar village in Hnila Union, also went missing.

Jalil’s whole family went crazy looking for him. News of his going missing was published in local newspapers but proved to be futile, reports Bangla Tribune. Chhenuara Begum, Jalil’s wife, inquired at the offices of various law enforcement agencies but there was no sign of her missing husband anywhere.

Two months later, in February this year, a local man who was suddenly released from the cop shoppe confirmed Chhenuara that her husband was with the OC’s team, or to be specific, OC Pradeep Kumar Das’s team.

GNA Refuses Operation IRINI Because It Will Disrupt Arms Supplies From Turkey
2020-04-26
[ALMARSAD.CO] The Head of the Libyan Presidential Council of State, Fayez al-Sarraj, released a message to the United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
Security Council and the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
yesterday, Friday, expressing his categorical rejection to the European operation. Sarraj said the operation neglected to control the airspace and borders through which arms and ammunition are reaching Eastern Libya.

The main reason for Sarraj’s rejection, however, is because it will affect the arms supplies coming from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
which mainly takes place through the sea route, according to the Italian newspaper Il Foglio’s report today.

The newspaper quoted a high-level European diplomat who said that Sarraj seeks a prior guarantee in his favour.

The GNA’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed Siala, in a phone conversation with Josep Borrell, the current High Representative of the European Union, expressed his rejection to the EU operation "in its incumbent state," according to the Italian newspaper.

Moreover, the newspaper noted that the GNA does not want Operation IRINI in its present form. Hence, the European operation, led by Italia, seems "lame" to most observers.

Al-Ammo Celebrates His Control of Sabratha After Killing the Sons of Major General Abdul-Jalil
2020-04-18
[ALMARSAD.CO] Under the command of Major General Omar Abdul-Jalil in 2017, the Anti-ISIS Operations Room had launched a fierce war against both brigades involved in human trafficking, fuel smuggling, and collusion with ISIS and other terrorist organizations. Ahmed Omar Abdel Hamid al-Dabbashi, nicknamed "Al-Ammo", or "The Uncle", was top in the list of accused and wanted runaways.

On 13 April 2020, al-Ammo returned to Sabratha in an operation blessed by Fayez al-Sarraj himself against the same Anti-ISIS Operations Room led by Major General Abdul-Jalil. Worse still, al-Ammo and his bad boys, according to confirmed reports, killed two of Major General Abdul-Jalil’s sons at their homes, Ahmed (17 years old) and Ashraf (22 years old), as acts of Dire Revenge. al-Ammo then appeared in a video yesterday, feigning to be a repentant criminal and calling for the rule of the state and supporting Fayez al-Sarraj’s government.
He'll be looking for safety in Turkish exile...if he makes it there
Prior to this al-Ammo appeared in one of the photos with two hard boyz from the city of Zawiya. The person one behind al-Ammo is Mahmoud Bilghaith, a member of the so-called "Libyan Revolutionaries Operations Room", led by Shabaan Hadiya al-Makani (also known as Abu Ubaida al-Zawi) and Ali Mazkour, another bad boy from Zawiya.

In another photo taken in al-Mutrad after storming the Western Intelligence headquarters and prison and the release of hundreds of dangerous prisoners, al-Ammo appeared during the preparations for the storming of Sabratha. The attack on Sabratha took place hours later, followed by a cycle of Dire Revenge acts, torching of civilian houses and state buildings, and looting of facilities, including the Security Directorate headquarters—the very same building where Fathi Bashagha assigned a new security director whilst the building was still on fire.

Al-Amou is one of the most notorious sanctioned criminals by the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
Security Council (UNSC) on charges of human trafficking. He is also liable for the deaths of thousands of migrants colonists who drowned in death boats during the period between 2012 and 2017.

Several international organizations hold al-Ammo accountable for violations against migrants colonists in a shelter centre he controlled in Sabratha under the pretext of fighting illegal migration. While he was receiving aid from the GNA and Italia, he smuggled the migrants colonists to other traffickers in exchange for money. In November 2018, Al Marsad had published an exclusive recording of what people found in that centre after al-Ammo fled the city.

Sarraj Welcomes the ‘Liberation’ of Sabratha and Surman
2020-04-15
[ALMARSAD.CO] On Monday the President of the Presidential Council, Fayez al-Sarraj, blessed the victories of his militias in Surman, Sabratha, and the regions of the West Coast. They had taken over the Criminal Investigation Service, Western Branch, and the Army Room, or what was known as the Anti-ISIS Operations Room, which Sarraj himself established and promoted its commander, Brigadier Omar Abdul-Jalil on 17 February 2018, for his efforts against the "gangs". Ironically enough, these same "gangs" are today announced as "liberators" by Sarraj.

[ToloNews] Abdul Jalil Sadiq, head of Mine Action Coordination, in the west of Afghanistan, said that more than 110 civilians have been killed and at least 130 others have been maimed over the past year due to mines and other kabooms originating from the Soviet invasion-era.

Sadiq said that most of the victims are children.

...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
42 were martyred and 49 others were maimed," said Sadiq.

Sadiq said they have neutralized 80% of threatened areas but 20% still has mines and other kaboom.

"252 square kilometers have been cleared of kabooms. 42 square kilometers still have mines and other kaboom," said Jalil.

Abdul Qadir, a military analyst, said that efforts by the government and mine-clearing institutions are not enough.

"1700 square kilometers have mines and other kabooms--it shows that the activity of the government and other organizations is not enough," said Abdul Qadir.

Ghulam Daud Hashimi, deputy governor of Herat province, said that security institutions and mine clearing organizations cleared the entire province of mines.

"Based on the reports given to us, all areas under threat were investigated and cleared of mines," said Hashimi.

2 dead, 4 injured as remote AJK valley hit by 'indiscriminate' Indian shelling
2019-08-28
[DAWN] Considered previously to be 'comparatively’ safe, the remote Gurez sub-valley in the upper belt of the Neelum district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
(AJK) was heavily shelled by Indian troops from across the Line of Control (LoC) on Tuesday, leaving two civilians dead and four others maimed, local officials said.

Gurez lies beyond Kel ‐ located some 156 kilometres northeast of Muzaffarabad ‐ and is spread over 44 kilometres till Taobutt, the last village of the Neelum district.

Unlike the lower belt of the Neelum district, where the Neelum River serves as the boundary between Azad Kashmir and occupied Kashmir, the Gurez sub-valley is situated on both sides of the river and has therefore been less vulnerable to cross LoC firing.

However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
on Tuesday, this area was hit "indiscriminately" by Indian troops with mortar guns, according to Akhtar Ayub, a disaster management officer based in Athmuqam. Athmuqam is the district headquarters of Neelum valley, located some 84 kilometres northeast of Muzaffarabad.

In Halmat village, Abdul Jalil Shah, 40, son of Samad Shah, was killed after being hit by splinters from an exploding shell, Ayub said.

Three-year-old Nosheen, daughter of Muhammad Ramzan, became an indirect victim, losing her life from psychological shock as "the thunder of shells filled her with panic", he added.

The injured persons, who were admitted to a military-run health facility in Halmat, were identified as Ashfaq, son of Ghulam Muhammad Lone; Ghulam Rasool, son of Ghulam Muhammad Mir; Baggi Begum, wife of Rehman Lone; and Hajira Bibi.

Egyptian officials confirm arrest of terrorist Hisham El-Ashmawi in Libya
2018-10-09
[AlAhram] An Egyptian military source has confirmed to Ahram Online that Egyptian Special forces officer-turned-terrorist Hisham El-Ashmawi, one of Egypt's most wanted runaways, has been captured in Libya's eastern city of Derna.

Earlier on Monday, Ahmed Mismari, front man of the Libyan National Army (LNA), which controls eastern Libya, said that El-Ashmawi was apprehended in Derna, where eastern Libyan forces are fighting terrorist groups. A picture of El-Ashmawi with blood on his face has been published by the LNA.

It is not clear when El-Ashmawi, who has been sentenced to death in Egypt, will be handed over to the Egyptian authorities, but "an official statement will be released concerning the arrest later today," the source said.

El-Ashmawi was born in 1978, and graduated in 2000 from the military academy.

El-Ashmawi, also known as Abu Omar El-Mohager (the immigrant), is considered among the most dangerous gunnies linked to many attacks in Egypt.

In July 2015, El-Ashmawi announced the establishment of the Mourabitoun organization in Libya,
...also spelt al-Morabetoun, for some reason...
which is loyal to the al-Qaeda terrorist organization.

In Derna, he broke away from Ansar Beit al-Maqdis after the group swore allegiance to ISIS, and formed the al-Qaeda affiliated al-Mourabitoun.
El-Ashmawi is believed to have been involved in an liquidation attempt on former Egyptian Interior Minister Mohammed Ibrahim and the murder of top prosecutor Hisham Barakat, as well as plotting an attack on Egyptian border guards in February 2015, which resulted in the death of 29 Armed Forces personnel.

He is also believed to be behind a deadly attack on Christian pilgrims in Upper Egypt's Minya governorate in May 2017, which killed 29 people.

In January 2015, his group was suspected of staging a multi-pronged attack on the headquarters of the Army Battalion 101 Headquarters in El-Arish in North Sinai, which killed 30 soldiers and officers.

An Egyptian military court sentenced him in absentia, along with 13 other terrorists, to death over the New Valley massacre in Farafra on 19 July 2014, where 22 border guards were killed.

In 2007, a military court transferred El-Ashmawi to an administrative post before his dismissal from the army in 2011. He later joined the Sinai-based Ansar Beit al-Maqdis terrorist group.

El-Ashmawi received training on the manufacture of kabooms and combat operations. In April 2016 he traveled to Syria to join Islamist holy warriors fighting aganist Alasad's regime, yet a few months later he returned to Egypt where he participated in a sit-in supporting the outlawed Moslem Brüderbund group in Cairo's Rabaa El-Adaweya.

After the sit-in, El-Ashmawi escaped to Libya. In Derna, he broke away from Ansar Beit al-Maqdis after the group swore allegiance to ISIS, and formed the al-Qaeda affiliated al-Mourabitoun.

El-Ashmawi fled Sirte to Derna under pressure from the Libya National Army operations.

El-Ashmawi planned to regroup in the Western Desert of Egypt but failed due to Egyptian security operations.

El-Ashmawi also collaborated with the Moslem Brüderbund in Libya, led by Ahmed Abdul Jalil al-Hasnawi, who leads the al-Qaeda branch in southern Libya, as well as Ismail al-Salabi and Abdul Hakim Belhaj.

Before his capture on Monday, El-Ashmawi was spotted between the Maghara and al-Qalaa areas in Derna. The Libyan National Army discovered a tunnel network extending under the city which the LNA believes was being used by El-Ashmawi and other members of his group to move between cities.

Citizenship for Afghans, Bengalis opposed
2018-09-22
[DAWN] Businessmen and traders on Thursday rejected the prime minister’s announcement for the grant of Pak citizenship to Afghan nationals living in the country for decades and warned that if the government made such a move, they would stop paying taxes and utility bills.

In separate statements, All Pakistain Commercial Exporters Association chairman Abdul Jalil, Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries senior vice president Haji Mamoor Khan and Markaz Tanzeem-e-Tajiran Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa president Malik Mehr Ilahi urged the premier to withdraw announcement on citizenship for Afghans, Bengalis saying it has caused serious unrest among businessmen and traders.

Mr Jalil said the country had around four million Afghans and most of them lived in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, where they completely controlled different businesses.

"These Afghan nationals are not paying any kind of tax and are in the habit of fleeing to own country whenever the Federal Board of Revenue or other tax collecting agency cracks down on tax evaders," he said.

He said Paks regularly paid taxes but didn’t get incentives.

Mr Mamoor said the premier had issued the citizenship statement without knowing ground realities.

"We (businessmen and traders) have been left with no option but to stop paying utility bills and taxes as the foreigners doing different businesses don’t pay taxes," he warned.
