The claims could not be verified independently, given that the group is fond of spreading propaganda. Cleaning out Puntland’s Cal-Miskaad mountains: Puntland forces capture final hideouts of ISIS militants in Bari region |

(IS) Lions of Islam in the Baallade valley of the Calmiskaad mountains in Puntland’s Bari region, officials said Wednesday. The forces launched a coordinated offensive from multiple directions, securing all water wells and positions previously held by fleeing IS fighters from the nearby Miraale valley, according to a statement from the Puntland regional administration. Security sources in Puntland told local media that troops are still pursuing a small number of IS Lions of Islam who narrowly escaped the recent operation and remain in the surrounding area, monitoring the movements of Puntland forces. The Puntland military continues efforts to secure the area and prevent Lions of Islam from regrouping or launching further attacks. Puntland says ISIS Leader Escaped Amid Ongoing Offensive in Cal-Miskaad Mountains 16-06-2025 [Garowe] Authorities in Somalia’s northeastern Federal State of Puntland confirmed that Abdulkadir Mumin, the leader of the Islamic State (ISIS) branch in Somalia, has fled the Cal-Miskaad mountain range amid an ongoing military offensive. The spokesperson for Operation Hillaac, Gen. Mahmoud Ahmed Faadhigo, told local media that intelligence shared by international partners revealed Mumin had escaped the area earlier, although the exact timing and method of his departure remain unclear. “Abdulkadir Mumin is no longer in Cal-Miskaad,” Faadhigo said, noting that security forces have regained control of 98% of the mountain range, which has been a stronghold for ISIS fighters over the past six months. While the group's top leader has reportedly escaped, his deputy, Abdirahman Faahiye Isse Mahmoud — the operational commander of ISIS in Somalia — is believed to still be hiding in the area. “We are confident our forces will soon apprehend him,” Faadhigo added. US Military Airdrops Aid to Puntland Forces Battling ISIS in Calmiskaad Mountains 15/06/2025 [ShabelleMedia] US military aircraft have provided critical support to Puntland security forces fighting ISIS militants in the rugged Calmiskaad mountain region of Somalia’s Bari province. Due to the difficult terrain, which is inaccessible to vehicles and lacks suitable airstrips, US warplanes have airdropped troops, supplies, and military equipment to Puntland forces actively engaged in counterterrorism operations against entrenched ISIS fighters in the area. In addition to logistical support, US aircraft have carried out heavy airstrikes targeting ISIS bases and infrastructure in the mountainous region, significantly degrading the extremist group’s operational capabilities. This military assistance forms part of a broader security partnership between the US and the Puntland administration aimed at dismantling ISIS networks and enhancing regional stability. Puntland forces have been conducting intense ground operations to reclaim territory from militants who have long used the Calmiskaad mountains as a stronghold. The operation is seen as a crucial step in curbing the threat posed by ISIS in northeastern Somalia, improving security in the Bari region and Puntland as a whole. Puntland president says ISIS sought to turn Cal-Miskaad into global terror command center 15-06-2025 [Garowe] Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni said Sunday that ISIS-linked militants planned to turn the Cal-Miskaad mountain range into a global hub for coordinating terror activities. Still, the plan was foiled by Puntland's "heroic forces." Speaking before the Puntland parliament, Deni said militants aimed to establish the remote mountain range in northeastern Somalia as a base for directing extremist attacks worldwide. "The terrorists planned to make Cal-Miskaad the main base for directing heinous acts around the world, but the courageous forces of Puntland dismantled that plot,” he said. Deni added that the fourth phase of the region’s ongoing counterterrorism operation is scheduled to begin Monday. The campaign will target remaining militant-held positions and prepare for Operation Onkod, a major offensive focused on the nearby Cal-Madaw mountains. Puntland forces have been battling both ISIS and al-Shabab militants entrenched in rugged terrain. In December 2024, Puntland launched Operation Hilaac in the Cal-Miskaad mountains, killing several foreign fighters and reclaiming large areas from ISIS control. Puntland Forces Capture Turkish ISIS Fighter Amid Major Anti-Terror Offensive 14-06-2025 [Garowe] The Puntland Counter-Terrorism Forces have arrested a Turkish national fighting with the ISIS militants group in the northeastern state of Somalia, a significant step towards defeating the terrorists who have been on the receiving end for the last five months. Puntland Defense Forces, working closely with the US Africa Command and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Forces, have managed to penetrate the Cal-Miskaad mountains, a major stronghold of the ISIS terrorists since the start of the Hilaac operation in December 2024. Photos published by the Puntland Television show a Turkish national believed to be a member of ISIS militants in the remote Cal Miskaad mountains, where a security operation is ongoing in what is currently known as Operation Lightning. The man was reportedly carrying an AK-47 and was collecting water from a well when troops spotted him within Baalade valley, Bari region, which is a major stronghold of the ISIS terrorists, whose presence in the state has drastically waned. It may not be a surprise because since the operation started in December 2024, many foreign nationals, especially fighters from Yemen, Morocco, Ethiopia, and even Kenya, have been either killed or captured in Puntland state. With the intelligence reports suggesting a growing number of foreign nationals fighting alongside ISIS militants in Somalia, the regional government of Puntland instructed locals to report foreigners within key towns and market centers in the state for action. Several foreigners were arrested following the order, with a number of them currently in police custody as investigations continue. Puntland maintains that the victory against ISIS militants is inevitable while accusing the federal government of Somalia of failing to support the troops. The US and the United Arab Emirates have been providing aerial surveillance throughout the operations, managing to eliminate several terrorists. In February, President Donald Trump announced the death of a key ISIS fighter following an operation. Last year, the Americans thought they had eliminated Abdulkadir Mumin, the ISIS global leader, but intelligence reports suggested otherwise. The group, however, has lost the strategic Cal-Miskaad mountains, which served as their command base. A few days ago, the Puntland forces took control of areas along the Sadow, Cadalle, and Raa-raha valleys in Baallade (Calmiskaad) after 3 days of air and ground Operations. Several ISIS terrorists were killed, and weapons and equipment were seized, officials said. Turkey is a major security and development partner of Somalia, and the news about its national serving alongside ISIS militants could trigger national debate. Turkey trains the elite Gorgor troops who are critical in the fight against Al-Shabaab within the southern and central regions. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has routinely worked with Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on counterterrorism strategies, with Somalia being a huge beneficiary. Hassan Sheikh is under intense criticism over his approach in the fight against terror groups. US Africa commander highlights terror growth in Sahel and competition with China for influence
2025-05-30 | |
[FOX] A top United States military general warned Thursday that terror groups in Africa are ramping up their ability to conduct attacks in the U.S. Gen. Michael Langley, the four-star Marine General who leads U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), said the Sahel region of the continent is now the "flashpoint of prolonged conflict and growing instability. It is the epicenter of terrorism on the globe." Several terror groups have expanded drastically in the last three years. Al-Qaeda in the Lands of the Islamic Maghreb, or AQIM, is three times the size it was in 2022, he said, and has spread across Mali, Burkina Faso, and parts of Niger, which the U.S. military pulled out of last year. Jama'at Nasr al-Islam wal-Muslimin,
"We're keeping a good eye on this because they could have the capacity to attack the homeland," Langley said in a call with reporters. "Throughout my travels across West Africa and through dialog here at the conference, the concerns shared by my peers match my own," he added. "One of the terrorist's key goals now is access to the west coast of Africa. If they gain access to the vast coastline, they can diversify their revenue streams and evolve their tactics, more easily exporting terrorism to American shores." He noted that the terror groups engage in illicit activity like smuggling, human trafficking and arms trading, which fund their nefarious actions and destabilize the region. U.S. forces over the weekend conducted an airstrike against the al Qaeda-linked al-Shabab in Somalia. The East African country has been wracked for decades by attacks and insurgency from Islamist terrorists, both from ISIS and al-Shabab. The U.S. is in a race with China and Russia to gain influence and trust with the local governments of several African nations to help protect citizens from terror groups. Langley said there is an increasing concern about the number of African soldiers going to Beijing for military training and replicating a U.S. International Military Education and Training (IMET) program. Six Police Officers Killed In Suspected Al-Shabab Attack In North-East Kenya - Arise News |
2025-03-25 |
[ARISE.TV] Six coppers have been killed in an ambush on a security base in north-east Kenya near the Somali border, a regional official has confirmed. Garissa County Commissioner Mohammed Mwabudzo said the attack, which occurred at 05:30 local time (02:30 GMT) on Sunday, bore the hallmarks of Somali-based Islamist bad boy group al-Shabaab ![]() . The officers were preparing for their morning prayers when the assailants struck. In addition to the six fatalities, four other officers sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment. The attack targeted a camp housing reservists—local volunteers who assist the regular police in securing remote areas. Mwabudzo described the assault as a ''guerrilla-style'' raid, consistent with al-Shabaab's repeated cross-border incursions aimed at destabilising the region. ''The suspected militia used assorted weapons to overrun the camp,'' he added. While no group has officially grabbed credit, al-Shabaab has a history of launching deadly attacks in Kenya, targeting both security forces and civilians. Odds of the ''city-killing'' YR4 asteroid hitting Earth are up |
2025-02-19 |
![]() The space agency claimed that the dangerous space rock now has a 1-in-38, or 2.6%, chance of hitting home — the highest probability of a collision yet, New Scientist has reported. When the asteroid was initially discovered in December 2024, the odds of a strike clocked in at 1-in-83, before increasing to 1-in-67, to 1-in-53, to 1-in-43 and now, the current frightening figure. Meanwhile, the European Space Agency's odds are slightly lower at around 2.4%. Since late January, NASA has designated YR4 a level three on the Torino Scale — a standard rubric for the danger of NEOs (Near Earth Objects) that measure over 65 feet in diameter and have a 1% or greater chance of deep impact. According to the scale, this asteroid is a ''close encounter, meriting attention by astronomers'' and boasts a ''1% or greater chance of collision capable of localized destruction.'' If Earth were to get rocked by YR4 — which measures between 131 and 295 feet in diameter — the resultant energy blast would be equivalent to 8 megatons of TNT, roughly 500 times the power of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, the Independent reported. Treasury Graft in Detail
2025-02-12 | |
They found a mechanism.
The kind of fields any small business would require. The kind that let you track where money goes. The kind that stop a billion dollars of fraud. Every week. Here's what Treasury didn't want exposed: Over $100 billion flowing annually to accounts without Social Security numbers. No temporary ID numbers. No verification. Nothing. Let that sink in. $50 billion per YEAR. A billion dollars every SINGLE week disappearing into accounts that shouldn't exist. The kind of fraud that would shut down any bank in America. The kind that would land any business owner in federal prison. But Treasury had perfected its system:
Yesterday, something shifted. A judge's order appeared, ex parte—meaning only one side could speak. No warning. No defense allowed. Just a wall erected between Treasury officials and their own department's data. When Musk asked Treasury officials how much was "unequivocal and obvious fraud," the answer revealed decades of corruption: HALF … The system's response was swift. Coordinated. Precise. Nineteen Democratic state attorneys general filed suit. Not about the fraud. Not about the waste. Not about billions vanishing into accounts without SSNs. But about "protecting" the Treasury Department from its own Secretary. A judge in New York responded with something unprecedented: an ex parte order blocking Treasury officials from accessing their own department's data. No warning. No chance to respond. No opportunity to present evidence. Just a wall between the people elected to fix the system and the system itself. Think about what that means: The Secretary of the Treasury—effectively the CFO of the United States government—legally barred from seeing how money moves through his own department. The people's appointee blocked from viewing the people's accounts. Young coders mapping the missing controls ordered to stop looking. The MACHINE (that’s what I’ll be calling the DS from now on) has judges. Has lawyers. Has media. Has entire states moving in coordination. But here's what makes this time different: The DOGE clock keeps ticking. $74 billion saved and counting. Each number representing not just dollars, but holes in the machine. Gaps in the armor. Places where light gets in. … The machine is fighting back. But this time, it's fighting years and years and years of gathered light. Now activated. And summer is coming. Jewish Task Force created in Africa to counter terror fears from Iran and jihadi groups
2025-01-22 | |
The task force will operate globally and in South Africa and is overseen by global authorities on terrorism To counter the perceived threat of terror from Iran and jihadi groups, South Africa’s chief rabbi is setting up a specialist task force.
The "Counter-Terror Task Force" will make recommendations to protect places of worship, schools and community centers. "South Africa's Jewish community, like other Jewish communities globally, faces heightened risk of terror attacks," Goldstein told Fox News Digital. "The Iranian regime is the world’s chief exponent of state-sponsored terror, and have made it their strategy to target Jewish communities worldwide. With this in mind, the findings of the task force will be applied not just in South Africa, but globally." He added, "In addition, Africa has over the past decade become a hub for global jihadi terror, with the threat indices dramatically increasing as groups such as al-Shabab, Boko Haram and ISIS operate throughout the continent." The task force comprises global authorities on terror: Admiral Mike Hewitt, former deputy director for Global Operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the U.S. Defense Department, Dean Haydon, former senior national coordinator for counter-terrorism in the United Kingdom, Major General David Tsur, former commander of the counter-terrorism unit in the Israeli Police, and Andre Pienaar, co-founder of South Africa’s Directorate of Special Operations, also known as the Scorpions. The chief rabbi added, "They will be marshalling additional resources and personnel as and when needed." Goldstein said the force’s immediate objective "is to secure the South African Jewish community against attacks. The broader objective is to better ensure the safety of all South Africans, and citizens of countries around the world." He continued, "Across Africa, especially, it is Christians far more than Jews who suffer the consequences of Jihadist terror. Each year, Jihadists murder thousands of Christians for their faith."

Kenyan soldiers injured in Al-Shabaab bomb attack |
2024-12-25 |
[Garowe] A group of Kenya Special Forces were critically injured on Sunday during a patrol in the northeastern province just near Kotulo area, officials said, moments after they were informed of al-Shabaab![]() activities in the area. According to police reports, the officers were maimed while activating their operations. They were on board two vehicles including an MRAP and a DCD vehicle. The DCD ran over an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that had been planted on the road by the bully boys. The vehicle was left badly damaged after the earth-shattering kaboom, with at least eight coppers left injured. The other vehicle that was trailing it stopped and helped to evacuate the injured to the hospital. The incident happened at night and the al-Shabaab forces of Evil are said to have been monitoring the team before the earth-shattering kaboom. The injured were rushed to hospital at death's door, police said. This is the first time the forces of Evil have staged a serious attack in the northeastern region after months of relative calmness due to robust security operations within the region. Kenya has established more Forward Operating Bases along the Kenya-Somalia border in anticipation of the transition within Somalia, which would see more soldiers drifting to the border where they are expected to improve surveillance. The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has been conducting multi-agency operations along the region and recently, President William Ruto elevated the Wajir Airbase by making it fully operational in anticipation of sophisticated operations. |

Foreign fighters flocking to Somalia to join ISIS
2024-11-22 | |
[ShabelleMedia] The Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... terror group’s small but influential affiliate in Somalia is growing, thanks in part to what the United Nations ...the Oyster Bay money pit... describes as an "influx of imported muscle." A new report this week by the U.N. Sanctions Monitoring Team for Somalia warns that fighters, including some from countries in the Middle East, have helped the Islamic State’s Somali affiliate, also known as IS-Somalia, to more than double in size to between 600 and 700 fighters. "Foreign fighters arrive in Puntland ...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion... [Somalia] using both maritime and overland routes," according to the report, which is based on intelligence estimates from U.N. member states. The imported muscle "have expanded and enhanced the group’s capabilities," the report said, strengthening IS’s presence in Somalia’s Puntland region while also helping it take territory from its key rival, al-Qaeda-linked terror group al-Shabaab ... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord... Intelligence sources described the IS-Somalia advance, especially in Puntland’s Cal Miskaad mountains, as a "drastic change," crediting the imported muscle for IS-Somalia’s change in fortune. The U.N. report said the IS imported muscle have come from at least six countries: Syria, Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of... , Æthiopia, Sudan ![]() , Morocco and Tanzania. It also said some captured imported muscle have reported working with trainers who have come from parts of the Middle East. The new report builds on previous warnings from U.S. and Somali officials, including the commander of U.S. Africa Command, in Germany, who told VOA last month that IS-Somalia had grown "twofold" over the past year. Somali officials have likewise warned of hundreds of imported muscle flocking to Somalia to join the ranks of the IS affiliate. "This reporting on an influx of foreign terrorist fighters in Africa is concerning," said Austin Doctor, the director of counterterrorism research initiatives at the National Counterterrorism Innovation, Technology and Education Center. And while the flow of imported muscle to Somalia pales in comparison to the tens of thousands of fighters who flocked to join IS in Syria and Iraq during the height of the terror group’s self-declared caliphate, Doctor told VOA the trend is likely to continue. "A number of factors present in the Horn [of Africa] and other Africa regions as well will likely appeal to aspiring travelers looking to join the rank and file of an bad boy bully boy organization," he said. "Global and local security forces should prepare to see more of this in the near term." There are likewise concerns about IS-Somalia’s growing prominence on the global stage. Since 2022, Somalia has been home to al-Karrar, one of nine regional Islamic State offices established to help sustain the terror group’s global capabilities. The U.N. report cautions that despite some leadership losses, the al-Karrar office has become both more powerful and more decentralized, making it more difficult to disrupt its activities. And the report confirms that former IS-Somalia leader Abdulqadir Mumin, who escaped a U.S. ... KABOOM!... this past June, has been elevated to head of the Islamic State’s general directorate of provinces, "placing him in a leadership role over [IS] affiliates in Africa. IS-Somalia, according to the report, is now being led by Mumin’s former deputy, Abdirahman Fahiye Isse, with Abdiwali Waran-Walac running IS-Somalia’s finances. And the group’s finances appear to be in good shape. "Given the relatively small size of [IS]-Somalia, the group can sustain itself and generate additional revenue for other [IS] affiliates through the al-Karrar office," the report said.

Anti-Israel protester charged with hate crime for threatening Jewish man on NY subway |

[IsraelTimes] Manhattan DA says suspect called Jewish passenger a ‘Zionist’ and warned ‘we’ll find you and there will be consequences,’ around time of widely decried rally against Nova exhibit New York prosecutors indicted a man for an antisemitic hate crime that allegedly occurred around the time of controversial protests against an exhibit on the October 7, 2023, Nova music festival massacre. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg ...Soros-owned and operated Manhattan DA. Putting vicious and blood-thirsty criminals in jail only makes them unhappy, and they've led such hard lives after all... said Friday that Christopher Husary, 36, had been indicted for attempted coercion as a hate crime and aggravated harassment. Bragg’s office said Husary’s alleged victim, a 35-year-old Jewish man, boarded a subway at Fulton St. station in lower Manhattan on the evening of June 10 and saw Husary drawing an inverted red triangle, a Hamas ..a regional Iranian catspaw,... symbol, on a subway door. The Jewish man then allegedly used his cell phone to photograph Husary, who then approached the man, who was wearing a kippah, and demanded he delete the photo. According to Bragg’s office, Husary berated and threatened the Jewish man, calling him a "Zionist" and saying, "You’re not a real Jew." He then added, "We’ll find you and there will be consequences." The victim reported the incident to police two weeks later, on June 22, Bragg’s office said. Soon afterward, the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force launched an investigation into the incident. The incident occurred around the time that protesters gathered outside a Lower Manhattan exhibit commemorating the victims of Hamas’ massacre at the Nova music festival on October 7, where more than 360 people were killed. The protest, led by the hardline activist group Within Our Lifetime, was widely decried as antisemitic by government officials and Jewish leaders. Protesters gathered in Union Square before taking the subway to the exhibit. A man appearing to match Husary’s description, and wearing a Hezbollah shirt, was at the Union Square protest. The New York Post report similarly said Husary wore a mask and a Hezbollah shirt at the protest. In a separate incident on the same day, a protester in a crowded subway car in the same area allegedly demanded that "Zionists" identify themselves. Anas Saleh, 24, was arrested weeks later and charged with attempted coercion in the third degree for the incident. Widely circulated footage showed a man matching Saleh’s description shouting, "Raise your hand if you’re a Zionist" on a packed subway car. "This is your chance to get out," the man shouted. The call was repeated by other activists on the train, many of whom were wearing keffiyehs, or Paleostinian scarves frequently worn by activists, that covered their faces. Antisemitic hate crimes have surged in New York City in the past year. Prosecutors are pursuing hate crimes charges in a number of high-profile cases, including in an indictment announced this week against activists who allegedly sprayed Hamas triangles on the home of the Brooklyn Museum’s Jewish director. That incident was also tied to a campaign led by Within Our Lifetime. If You Thought The Mask Mandate Was Bad... |
2024-11-10 |
[MerylNass] CDC Planned Quarantine Camps, Nationwide/Jeffrey Tucker @ Brownstone Institute No matter how bad you think Covid policies were, they were intended to be worse. Consider the vaccine passports alone. Six cities were locked down to include only the vaccinated in public indoor places. They were New York City, Boston, Chicago, New Orleans, Washington, D.C., and Seattle. The plan was to enforce this with a vaccine passport. It broke. Once the news leaked that the shot didn’t stop infection or transmission, the planners lost public support and the scheme collapsed. It was undoubtedly planned to be permanent and nationwide if not worldwide. Instead, the scheme had to be dialed back. Features of the CDC’s edicts did incredible damage. It imposed the rent moratorium. It decreed the ridiculous “six feet of distance” and mask mandates. It forced Plexiglas as the interface for commercial transactions. It implied that mail-in balloting must be the norm, which probably flipped the election. It delayed the reopening as long as possible. It was sadistic. Even with all that, worse was planned. On July 26, 2020, with the George Floyd riots having finally settled down, the CDC issued a plan for establishing nationwide quarantine camps. People were to be isolated, given only food and some cleaning supplies. They would be banned from participating in any religious services. The plan included contingencies for preventing suicide. There were no provisions made for any legal appeals or even the right to legal counsel. The plan’s authors were unnamed but included 26 footnotes. It was completely official. The document was only removed on about March 26, 2023. During the entire intervening time, the plan survived on the CDC’s public site with little to no public notice or controversy. It was called “Interim Operational Considerations for Implementing the Shielding Approach to Prevent COVID-19 Infections in Humanitarian Settings.” “This document presents considerations from the perspective of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) for implementing the shielding approach in humanitarian settings as outlined in guidance documents focused on camps, displaced populations and low-resource settings. This approach has never been documented and has raised questions and concerns among humanitarian partners who support response activities in these settings. The purpose of this document is to highlight potential implementation challenges of the shielding approach from CDC’s perspective and guide thinking around implementation in the absence of empirical data. Considerations are based on current evidence known about the transmission and severity of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and may need to be revised as more information becomes available.” By absence of empirical data, the meaning is: nothing like this has ever been tried. The point of the document was to map out how it could be possible and alert authorities to possible pitfalls to be avoided. The meaning of “shielding” is “to reduce the number of severe Covid-19 cases by limiting contact between individuals at higher risk of developing severe disease (‘high-risk’) and the general population (‘low-risk’). High-risk individuals would be temporarily relocated to safe or ‘green zones’ established at the household, neighborhood, camp/sector, or community level depending on the context and setting. They would have minimal contact with family members and other low-risk residents.” In other words, this is what used to be concentration camps. Who are these people who would be rounded up? They are “older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions.” Who determines this? Public health authorities. The purpose? The CDC explains: “physically separating high-risk individuals from the general population” allows authorities “to prioritize the use of the limited available resources.” This sounds a lot like condemning people to death in the name of protecting them.
