China Turns to Taliban to Control ETIM: Exclusive on Bid to Woo Guv of Afghanistan’s Badakshan |
2023-08-22 |
[News18] Wary of the Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM) ...also known as Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP), the Uighur jihadi group has branches in Al Qaeda’s Al Nusra organization in Syria and in the Al Qaeda organization in Afghanistan ... and continuing with its interest in Afghanistan, China is now wooing the governor of Badakshan, according to a top diplomatic source."The Chinese are keen to control the ETIM. They plan to offer a lucrative deal to the governor. As the governor is in ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... , his deputy is expected to attend the meeting," he added. The ETIM is a separatist Death Eater outfit in Xinjiang which allegedly has links with radical outfits such as al Qaeda and Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... (IS or ISIS). News18 had previously reported on China’s demand that Taliban ![]() crack down on the ETIM. Kabul has, however, so far rebuffed the demand, saying the activists have been "our guests for a very long period of time". CCTVs, BELT & ROAD INTITIATIVE Recently, there were reports that Chinese telecom giant Huawei has got sanctions from the top levels of the Haqqani Network in Afghanistan to install CCTV cameras across provinces, which had led to concerns that Beijing is advancing towards profiling Afghans to increase its influence in the country. According to sources, China managed the deal with the top leadership of the Haqqani Network, a faction of the ruling Taliban. The cameras are going to be installed ostensibly to fight the ISIS, sources added. Security experts say having Chinese-installed CCTVs in Afghanistan will help Beijing profile the Afghan people as well as protect its own nationals working in the war-torn country on projects. China has made halting efforts to extend its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to Afghanistan that could see construction of railways and bridges, but is chiefly concerned with the country harboring separatists opposed to Chinese control in its northwestern region of Xinjiang. CHINA-PAKISTAIN ECONOMIC CORRIDOR Recently, China, Afghanistan and Pakistain agreed to forge closer economic ties by extending the Beijing-backed China-Pakistain Economic Corridor (CPEC) to Afghanistan. The $60-billion CPEC aims to connect Pakistain’s Gwadar port in Balochistan ...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it... with China’s Xinjiang province. India has objected to the CPEC as it traverses through Pakistain-Indian Kashmir ...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there.... e (PoK). The CPEC is officially regarded as the flagship project of China’s multi-billion-dollar Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) — the pet project of President Xi Jinping. NATO-calibre weapons being transferred to ISIL-K by Taliban, Al-Qaeda-affiliated groups like TTP: UN report |
2023-08-13 |
[TelegraphIndia] NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis.... -calibre weapons were being transferred to ISIS-K by groups affiliated with the Taliban ![]() and al-Qaeda, such as Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistain, according to a UN report, with member states expressing concern over the proliferation of military equipment within Afghanistan and into neighbouring countries following the 2021 Taliban takeover. The 17th report of the Secretary-General on the threat posed by ISIS (Da’esh) to international peace and security said that UN member states remained concerned about the proliferation of weapons in Afghanistan, the Middle East and Africa, in particular the access by Da’esh and its regional affiliates to small arms and light weapons, as well as their increased use of unmanned aircraft systems and improvised bombs. Regional Member States reported that "North Atlantic Treaty Organisation-calibre weapons typically associated with the former Afghan National Defence and Security Forces were being transferred to ISIS-K by groups affiliated with the Taliban and al-Qaeda, such as Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistain (TTP) and the Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement," also known as the Turkistan Islamic Party (ETIM/TIP). In the core conflict zone, Da’esh has reportedly transitioned to producing fewer, simpler and smaller improvised bombs and to now using boom jackets only as a last resort, to avoid the loss of operatives. "There are reports that Da’esh has created a so-called Industry Committee within its structures to explore new avenues for advancement in weaponry, such as improvised bombs and increased payloads for drones," the report said. The report added that member states assessed ISIS-K as being the most serious terrorist threat in Afghanistan and the wider region. The group has reportedly increased its operational capabilities inside Afghanistan, with fighters and family members estimated at 4,000 to 6,000 individuals. Sanaullah Ghafari (alias Shahab al-Muhajir) is viewed by some member states as the most ambitious leader of ISIS-K. One Member State reported that Ghafari was killed in Afghanistan in June. "That remains to be confirmed," the report said, adding that Mawlawi Rajab is the leader of external operations for ISIS-K. It said ISIS-K is becoming "more sophisticated" in its attacks against both the Taliban and international targets. The group was reportedly focused on a strategy of carrying out high-profile attacks to undermine the Taliban’s ability to provide security. "Overall, ISIS-K attacks demonstrated strong operational capability involving reconnoitre, coordination, communication, planning and execution," the report said, adding that according to some Member States, attacks against high-profile Taliban figures in Balkh, Badakhshan and Baghlan Provinces raised ISIS-K morale and boosted recruitment. "Some Member States reported that ETIM/TIP had developed links in Afghanistan with ISIS-K, with the two groups jointly publishing propaganda posters and some ETIM/TIP members joining ISIS-K operations. One member state assessed that some elements of al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent were ready to either join or collaborate with ISIS-K," the report said. |

Pakistan witnesses 51pc increase in terrorist attacks in a year |
2022-10-22 |
[TheNationPK] 433 people killed, 719 maimed in country since Taliban![]() students... seized power in Afghanistan last year. The perils of Taliban-led regime in Kabul have become unmistakably clear for Pakistain as the country has witnessed an unbelievable 51 per cent increase in the number of terrorist attacks in a single year since the krazed killer group seized power in Afghanistan in August last year. According to details, as many as 433 people were killed and 719 maimed in 250 terrorist attacks in Pakistain between 15 August 2021 and 14 August 2022. In the corresponding year between 15 August 2020 and 14 August 2021, the country witnessed 165 attacks that killed 294 people and injured 598 others. "The mindless jubilation over Taliban victory is now turning into a rude shock because the evolving security situation under the erratic Taliban rule indicates Pakistain is about to face yet another ordeal viz-aviz terrorism," according to one of the findings. The issue quoting a United Nations ...where theory meets practice and practice loses... report says that there is no sign that Taliban regime is taking steps to limit the activities of foreign terrorist groups on Afghan soil. The UN report also notes that foreign terrorist groups based in Afghanistan take the Taliban victory as a motivation to disseminate their propaganda in Central and South Asia, and globally. Key terror outfits with active presence in Afghanistan include al-Qaeda, Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU), East Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM), Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP), and Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... in Khorasan (IS-K). So far, the Taliban have acted only against the IS-K because it actively challenges the group. The issue underlines that there is a wave of fear and panic among residents of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) over the reported return of TTP murderous Moslems from Afghanistan in recent months. The publication quoting the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says that more than 300,000 Afghans have fled to Pakistain since the Taliban takeover. The figure confronts Pak authorities’ claim that about 60,000 to 70,000 Afghans have entered Pakistain since then. |

[19Fortyfive] Throughout the two-decade U.S. war in Afghanistan, the Kremlin played a double game. President Vladimir Putin ...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...

This led to contradictions in which Russia leveraged its influence to expel the United States from Central Asian bases and cultivated the Taliban while simultaneously facilitating logistical routes across Russian territory to keep the American war going. As far as the Russians were concerned, the ideal scenario was for both the United States and Taliban to bleed each other dry into perpetuity. | |

2018-11-28 | |
![]() Jihadist rebels suffer heavy casualties in failed special operation in northern Latakia [AlMasdar] (3:30 P.M.) – For the second time in the last two weeks, the jihadist rebels attempted a special operation to sneak behind the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) front-lines and ambush the troops near the Hama-Latakia axis. Led by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham ![]() However, denial ain't just a river in Egypt... the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham were spotted by a Syrian Arab Army scout this time, which would allow soldiers at the targeted post to be prepared for the murderous Moslem assault on their positions. As the jihadist rebels approached the military post, the Syrian Arab Army opened fire on the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham murderous Moslems, eliminating the entire group of infiltrators. According to a military source in northern Latakia, the Syrian Arab Army lost one soldier during the battle, while the entire jihadist group was neutralized and eliminated. The source said that since the big jihadist ambush that killed over 20 soldiers last week, they have sent reinforcements to this front and increased the number of scouts along the Latakia-Hama axis. While often short, these jihadist hit-and-run attacks often prove incredibly deadly for the Syrian military, so they are taking extra precautions to prevent them in the future. Syrian Army launches powerful attack against jihadists in northern Latakia [AlMasdar] (10:40 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) unleashed a powerful assault this evening in the northern countryside of the Latakia Governorate, a military source told al-Masdar News.
