Turkish NMS 4x4 showcases next-gen firepower at Lithuania's Live Firing Show 2025
2025-05-17
[TURKIYETODAY] A successful example of integration, combining the competencies of Türkiye's defense industry, was showcased at a live fire demonstration in Europe.

Platforms participating in the Live Firing Show 2025 held in Lithuania, where modern defense technologies are demonstrated in real-time, drew significant attention with their capabilities. Organized by the National Defense Foundation, the event is considered one of the most prominent defense and security gatherings in the Baltic region, bringing together defense planners, military leaders, active-duty soldiers, and strategic partners from numerous countries.

This year, the Live Firing Show once again went beyond static displays, offering participants the opportunity to test and observe advanced defense systems in real-world operational scenarios.

Nurol Makina, which had previously demonstrated the successful integration of the 120mm Ragnarok system developed by Rheinmetall Norway onto its Ejder Yalçın 4x4 platform, participated this year with its NMS 4x4 vehicle. The NMS 4x4 was presented in the version produced and delivered according to Estonia’s requirements.

At the event, the NMS 4x4 was equipped with the 30x113 mm VENOM LR low-recoil medium-caliber cannon and the TRAKON 30 remote-controlled weapon station developed by Samsun Yurt Savunma (SYS) Group, along with the Ilgar I loitering munition.
It sounds like they are boasting about their mad skillz with nuts and bolts, attaching together the inventions of others…
During its demonstration, the NMS 4x4 displayed superior mobility and high performance, executing successful firings with both the 30x113 mm cannon and the loitering munition.
As near as I can tell, every round missed the target.

Chris Brown Arrested Over 2023 Nightclub Assault
2025-05-16
[X] Chris Brown, the American musician, was arrested on Thursday at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester for an alleged assault on a music producer using a tequila bottle at a London nightclub in February 2023.
Only two years later? Talk about the mills of justice grinding slowly…
He is currently held on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. This arrest occurred shortly after Brown publicly supported another artist, Tory Lanez, with the message 'Free Tory'.
I have no idea who Chris Brown is, but I suppose this might be significant to someone.

New Mexico man charged with Tesla, local GOP arson attacks
2025-04-15

[NYPOST] Federal prosecutors will not offer a plea deal to the lipstick-wearing suspect accused of Molotov cocktailing a Tesla dealership and local Republican Party office in New Mexico, Attorney General Pam Bondi vowed Monday.

Jamison Wagner was arrested over the weekend and has been charged with two counts of malicious damage or destruction of property by fire or explosives for allegedly carrying out the attacks.

The 40-year-old Albuquerque resident — and member of LGBT group ''500 Queer Scientists'' — faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted of both charges.

''These people thought they could get away with it. They can't,'' Bondi told Fox News host Jesse Watters. ''This is our fifth major arrest on Tesla.

''I have directed my prosecutors not to make any offers. He is going away, if convicted, for 40 years,'' the attorney general declared.

Investigators linked Wagner to both arsons through surveillance footage and ''substantial'' scene of the crime evidence, according to the Justice Department.

The accused arsonist will remain in jug pending a detention hearing, which has not been set.

Wagner allegedly used a glass container containing ''an improvised napalm material'' to set two Teslas ablaze at the electric car company's Albuquerque showroom during the early morning hours of Feb. 9.

Six additional vehicles, as well as the exterior of the dealership, were also spray-painted with the phrases: ''Die Elon,'' ''Tesla Nazi Inc'' and ''Die Tesla Nazi,'' as well as swastika symbols, authorities said.

Wagner targeted the New Mexico Republican Party headquarters the following month, according to authorities.

That attack, which bore several similarities to the Tesla dealership arson, significantly damaged the front door and entry of the building.

Trump says furniture makers coming back to North Carolina as Canadian company moves to state
2025-04-08
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] Trump has applauded furniture makers moving production to the US amid tariffs, with one company closing its Canadian production facility and shifting all production to the United States, while a North Carolina furniture maker is closing its doors due to ongoing production issues with its main supplier in Mexico, among other issues.

"Those tariffs, next year will make us $1 trillion. In addition to the $1 trillion, thousands of companies are gonna relocate back into the United States. In North Carolina, already furniture people are starting to move back in," Trump said.

Progressive Furniture, a subsidiary of Sauder Woodworking and importer of "budget friendly" furniture from Asia and Mexico, will be closing at the end of the year and laying off around 30 employees, per Furniture Today.

President of the company, Dan Kendrick, told the outlet, "This decision was not made lightly, and we understand the impact it will have on our employees, customers and partners. We are committed to supporting our employees through this transition and will aid where possible to help them find new opportunities."

The closure of the company was blamed on multiple issues, but mainly on the closure of the company's primary supplier in Mexico. Kendrick said, "Obviously, business conditions have been challenging for the past few years, but the closure of our primary supplier in Mexico has made a major impact. This factory supplied 60% of our products."

According to Home News Now, the company's main supplier, Baja Wood, was based in Rosarito, Mexico. In January, around 60 of Baja Wood's 320 employees protested outside of the factory over reduced hours. The factory was shut down as government officials investigated the claims, which required a lengthy interview process. At the end of the investigation, the plant owner decided not to reopen. Baja Wood and Progressive furniture were closely intertwined, with the US company receiving over 50 percent of its wood furniture from the Mexico plant, and Progressive being the plant's primary customer in the US.

Swastika in the Sky - Proof Musk is a Nazi!
2025-03-26
[GatewayPundit] Yesterday, a mysterious spiral appeared in the night sky over multiple Parts of Europe, causing many to look up with a mix of awe and fear.

Sputnik reported:

"Residents across multiple countries, including La Belle France, Germany, Poland, Russia, and Ukraine, were left stunned by a glowing spiral formation in the night sky. The unusual phenomenon sparked widespread speculation, with many turning to social media to share photos and theories."

Today, after the usual number of social media users have spent their time with outrageous theories, the mysterious swirl that appeared in the night sky over Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
was revealed to be have been made by a SpaceX rocket.

The Telegraph reported:

"Social media was abuzz with stargazers on Monday night, who spotted the strange spiral moving slowly across the sky from north to south at around 8pm for 30 minutes."

"Ben Thomson of Hampshire, wrote on X that it was ’too slow for a satellite but appeared to be at a high altitude’. He added: ’It was very bright at its central point and created a swirl effect which was also lit up as it went’."

“Experts said the phenomenon was created by a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida at 5.48pm UK time. The frozen exhaust was illuminated by the Sun as they spun across the sky, creating the glowing blue spiral.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: ‘We’ve received many reports of an illuminated swirl in the sky this evening. This is likely to be caused by the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, launched earlier today. The rocket’s frozen exhaust plume appears to be spinning in the atmosphere and reflecting the sunlight, causing it to appear as a spiral in the sky’.”

''King Kong'': World's largest water buffalo is six feet tall
2025-02-14
[GEO.TV] A three-year-old water buffalo has been named the tallest among his kind in the world, with a height of 6 feet and 0.8 inches from hoof to withers.
"It's almost as big as Stacey Abrams!"
Named King Kong, the majestic buffalo, is a resident of the Ninlanee Farm in Nakhon Ratchasima and is almost 20 inches taller than the average adult water buffalo, the Guinness World Records stated.

Owner Suchart Booncharoen said it was expected of King Kong to grow to this massive size as he was huge at the time of his birth and that is why he was named after the iconic gorilla from the film, according to UPI.

An employee of the farm, Cherpatt Wutti, said despite King Kong being of an intimidating size, the buffalo is quite friendly and playful.

"He is very obedient. He loves to play around, he loves to be scratched, and running around with people," she said.

"He is really friendly and it's like having a big, powerful puppy on the farm," she added.

Shocking bodycam footage captures Utah cops shooting man who fatally stabbed parents
2025-01-22
[NYPOST] Shocking police body camera footage captured the moment cops busted into a Utah man's house and shot him dead as he was stabbing his parents to death in a bloody New Year's Day attack.

The cops went to the West Valley City home at about 5:15 p.m. after someone called 911 — and although the operator couldn't hear anyone talking, they heard screaming in the background, according to People.

The unwitting officers stumbled into a scene of unimaginable horror when they found 35-year-old Erik Bertelsen gouging parents Terrie, 63, and Kerry, 67, with a knife, a video published by the Daily Mail showed.

''Show me your f—king hands!'' one cop yelled, his pistol pointing at the crazed killer as the officer rushed through the basement door. ''Show me your hands! Get your hands up!''

But Bertelsen ignored them and continued to hack away at one of the victims, his blood-soaked arms pistoning up and down as he did his grisly work.

''Drop it! Drop it!'' the cops yelled — then one of the officers squeezed off two rounds, sending Bertelson slumping forward.

The officers continued to yell for the still-moving stabber to drop the blade.

''If you do not drop that knife, you will get shot again!'' the panting officer said between heavy breaths, before warning another cop not to get too close because the blade was ''hidden in that other hand.''

''Take a deep breath, dude, take a deep breath,'' the second officer said after calling in the shooting. ''Breathe, breathe.''

Eventually, the cop who pulled the trigger lowered his handgun and stepped outside after the other officers asked him to ''take a breather.''

West Valley City Police Chief Colleen Jacobs told ABC 4 that she saw a ''tragedy'' when she watched the footage.

''A very tragic incident that happened with the parties involved, and for the officers involved as well,'' the chief said, adding that cops had gone to the home in the past.

The Bertelsens' step-daughter, Chasity Ulibarri, told KMYU that she ''kinda felt like something was going to happen'' before the savage killings.

''I sent the cops over here for a welfare check four days ago because I knew he would keep taking their phones, and it wasn't them that was answering me,'' she told the station.

The officer who shot Bertelsen has since been put on leave, as per the department protocol.

Retired deputy police chief Chris Bertram told the station that he thought the officers showed solid discipline in a tough situation.

''I evaluate officer's actions quite often,'' he said. ''I read reports, I see these body cams, and I will tell you this was a difficult day for them. They did an excellent job.''

Bertelsen had a lengthy rap sheet, and had most recently been arrested three days before Christmas for ''running outside of his house and on the road in front of his house wearing only his boxers,'' according to a police booking affidavit reviewed by KSL-TV.

When officers asked him why he was outside, he told them he'd used ''a lot of meth.''

Daughter found guilty of murdering and dismembering mom, burning body on a barbecue grill
2024-11-05
[NYPOST] A sick Maryland woman has been found guilty of murdering her mother — then getting her daughter to help hack up the body and try to get rid of it by grilling parts on a garden barbecue.

Candace Craig, 45, was on Friday found guilty after an eight-day trial of first-degree murder, second-degree murder and tampering with evidence and disposing of a body in an unauthorized place, WUSA9 reported.

Her 71-year-old mom, Margaret Craig, had confronted her for committing credit card fraud in June 2023 — and was choked to death when she threatened to turn in her daughter to the police.

Candace Craig then roped in one of her own three children, 19-year-old daughter Salia Hardy, to dispose of the body, with the teen testifying against her mom after pleading guilty earlier this year to her own role in the gruesome crime.

Hardy said she found her grandmother's body stuffed inside a blue plastic container in her bedroom in Hyattsville — and then helped her mom chop up the body with a chainsaw and then try to dispose of some of it by grilling body parts on a grill in the backyard.

The grandma had already been dead for more than a week when police found her rotting remains while conducting a welfare check after alarmed neighbors reported not seeing her.

The killer daughter allowed officers into the home and basement — where they immediately smelled ''decomposition'' and saw blood spatter around white plastic trash bags.

The bags held ''what appeared to be brain matter'' and Margaret Craig's mutilated remains — with cops also finding cutting tools and a chainsaw, with the latter still covered with human remains.

Too good to be true? Unpacking Jemaah Islamiyah’s self-declared disbanding
2024-09-08
2024.07.10
[BenarNews] At an event organized last month by the Indonesian counter-terrorism agency (BNPT), Abu Rusydan and 15 other leaders of Jemaah Islamiyah announced their group’s dissolution.

JI, the Southeast Asian affiliate of al-Qaeda, had carried out a string of devastating attacks in the 2000s, including Indonesia’s deadliest-ever terror attack — the 2002 Bali bombings. But now it was "ready to actively contribute to Indonesia’s progress and dignity," Abu Rusydan declared as he read from a prepared statement during the event on June 30.

This is not the first time that a bully boy group has disbanded itself. The Provisional Irish Republican Army unilaterally broke up in 2005, throwing itself solely into legal activities through its political arm, Sinn Féin. In 2018, the Basque separatist organization ETA also unilaterally disbanded.

But Jemaah Islamiyah’s announcement surprised many people, and left others feeling skeptical.

There are three interrelated questions that need to be asked about the move by JI: How did we get here? Is this for real? And what does this mean for regional security?

HOW DID WE GET HERE?
Jemaah Islamiyah, which has its roots in the Darul Islam movement, was founded in Malaysia in 1993, when its two founders, Abdullah Sungkar and Abu Bakar Bashir
... Leader of the Indonesian Mujahedeen Council and proprietor of the al-Mukmin madrassah in Ngruki. The spriritual head of Jemaah Islamiya, which he denies exists. Bashir was jugged and then released in the wake of the 2002 Bali bombings, which he blamed on a conspiracy among the U.S., Israel, and Australia. In 2014, as leader of Jemaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD), he pledged allegiance to ISIS. Currently in jug...
, were on the run from Suharto’s New Order government in Indonesia.

While in Malaysia, they served as a way-station for several hundred gunnies who traveled to Pakistain to join the anti-Soviet jihad in Afghanistan, putting them in direct contact with al-Qaeda.

In 1996, a charter (the PUPJI) created the group’s organizational structure and codified JI’s Salafi ideology. At the time, the group also reached an agreement with the Philippine armed separatist organization, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, to allow al-Qaeda to establish training camps in the southern Philippines.

In Indonesia, JI perpetrated terrorist attacks on Christian churches and established two paramilitary organizations to wage sectarian conflict in the Maluku Islands and Central Sulawesi province.

Following the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in October 2001, the al-Qaeda leadership called for diversionary attacks. One of these was the twin Bali bombings that killed 202 people a year later.

Between 2002 and 2007, JI perpetrated a major attack almost every year. But each attack left the organization weaker as counterterrorism forces became more adept and better resourced.

This led to an ideological split in the organization between proponents of the line of targeting the "far enemy," versus those who wanted to foment sectarian conflict in order to rebuild their depleted ranks.

The government legally banned JI in 2008, but allowed it to operate as an entity as long as it refrained from violence.

In 2010, more than 100 JI members were swept up, including Abu Bakar Bashir, breaking the organization’s back. JI’s last terrorist act took place that year.

Yet, from 2020-2023, Indonesian counter-terrorism efforts were as focused on JI as it was on the pro-Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
umbrella group, Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD). Security forces originally saw JI as an off-ramp for the more radical JAD, but attitudes hardened.

In 2019, when counterterrorism police arrested JI’s emir, Para Wijayanto, they were shocked by the group’s size and national reach. Its madrassas and charitable arms had grown, while its corporations and publishing arms had created a steady revenue stream. As many JI members were arrested in 2021 and 2022 as JAD suspects.

Indonesian counter-terrorism forces have applied a softer approach. Though seemingly campy, they’ve held mass rallies where former gunnies pledge allegiance to the republic.

Former gunnies have established madrassas for the children of incarcerated bully boys, so they are not raised in JI or JAD-run schools, breaking terrorist social networks.

They’ve gotten leaders, including the JAD Emir Aman Abdurrahman, who is on death row, and Umar Patek, to publicly renounce violence.

Meanwhile the conflict in Poso, which served as a rallying point for all bully boy groups in Indonesia, has been stamped out.

Internationally, there has been more cooperation amongst the regional security services. And while ungoverned space and institutional weakness remains in the southern Philippines, bully boy groups are no longer attracting JI and other foreign bully boys.

The Moro Islamic Liberation Front continues to implement the grinding of the peace processor and build up institutions that will help the autonomous Moslem region transition to self-governance. There has been an unprecedented sustained attack on the Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
, which is now fighting for survival.

IS THIS FOR REAL?
While JI has not been in a position to engage in terrorism, until now, it has never renounced violence. Many in the organization were simply waiting for the right circumstance to resume operations.

It’s easy to be cynical about the group’s prepared statement, especially at an event stage-managed by the BNPT. Some of those who were on hand had been arrested and gone through government disengagement programs.

To young radicals, they’re sell-outs, and past their prime. The average age of the men who renounced violence was in the late 50s or older.

To what degree will younger members follow the leadership and pursue a legal-political alternative?

In many ways, this is more promising. JI’s campaign of militancy failed to bring about the establishment of an Islamic State governed by Sharia. Democratic politics have advanced their political agenda more effectively.

It’s not that Islamist parties do terribly well at the national level. Indeed, in Indonesia’s 2024 general election, they collectively represented about 20% of the electorate and won 101 of 580 seats. But they are important members of political coalitions, which tend to give them a disproportionate voice.

It’s at the local level where we see faith-based parties make their mark, especially in the passage of public policy and Sharia compliant codes, which the majority of provinces and districts now have.

Islamist parties are riddled with rivalries and have never formed a cohesive bloc.

Perhaps for that reason, JI saw an opening for a tactical shift. In May 2021, JI established the Indonesian People’s Dakwah Party (PDRI). Yet, counter-terrorism forces arrested its founder, Farid Ahmad Okbah, that November for being a senior member of JI. Two others were arrested.

The PDRI did not contest the 2024 elections. But it seems likely that with JI’s dissolution, the government will give former members more political space.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR REGIONAL SECURITY?
JI’s manpower and locus were largely-Indonesian based, but it remains a Southeast Asian organization.

Some affiliates gravitated elsewhere. Darul Islam Sabah, for example, went from facilitating JI and the movement of foreign gunnies in and out of the southern Philippines to working with the JAD and other groups.

There has always been more fluidity between Southeast Asian bully boy groups than those in the Middle East or South Asia. Abu Bakar Bashir defected from being pro-al Qaeda to being pro-Islamic State, with large numbers of acolytes, without consequence.

As such, many younger gunnies who are committed to using violence to achieve their political aims are likely to defect to other groups.

What those groups may be, though, is unclear. The JAD is decimated and leaderless, though to be fair, it was always far more horizontally structured. It has not executed a major terrorist attack since 2019.

At present there is no apparent charismatic leader for bully boy Salafists
...Salafists are ostentatiously devout Moslems who figure the ostentation of their piety gives them the right to tell others how to do it and to kill those who don't listen to them...
to coalesce around. And while one would expect external events, such as the war in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, to serve as a catalyst, to date it has not.

JI still runs a network of madrassas, including some very large ones like al-Mukmin and Pesantren Hidayatullah in Balikpapan. These continue to be ideological incubators and hate factories.

It’s hard to see state educational personnel intervene and change their curriculum. But Indonesian security forces have not let up, despite the decline in organizational strength or the tempo of operations.

Terrorism will be a persistent but manageable threat in Indonesia. JI’s dissolution makes it more so, providing a legal-political alternative that is more moral, but also proven to be more effective.
