Somali forces, local fighters repel Al-Shabaab assault in central region: army
2025-07-07
[Garowe] The Somali National Army (SNA), with the help of local fighters, blocked the Al-shabaab militants from making advances in central regions, leading to an altercation with lasted for several hours, Saturday, amid the ongoing crackdown against the group.

Multiple security sources said heavy fighting took place within Gumare village, southeast of Moqokori town, on Saturday, between government forces supported by Ma’awisley fighters on one side and al-Shabaab militants.

Major Salim Omar Ahmed, the commander of the 27th battalion, said at least 15 Al-Shabaab fighters were killed, with one pickup destroyed. The al-Shabaab fighters were unable to proceed to Moqokori, their desired destination.

The message was corroborated by local sources who said the militants were trying to advance to Moqokori town but suffered massive losses, leading to an instant retreat. They have been pushed back to Cel Qoxle village, which they seized several days ago.

Al-Shabaab on their side claimed killing 15 government soldiers and injuring 25 others during today’s fighting, a claim that has not been independently verified. The militants are fond of exaggerating their numbers, a strategy used to mislead the masses.

Somali Military Targets Al-Shabaab Stronghold, Killing Senior Commanders

commanders in central regions, in the latest crackdown against the group, which has caused havoc in central and southern regions, killing many innocent civilians in the process.

The al-Shabaab has been fighting for the last two decades to retake the country, but the strong resistance from the local forces and the peacekeeping mission troops has made it technically impossible for the faceless myrmidons to make strides.

According to reports, the faceless myrmidons were killed during an operation initiated by local militia with the help of the Somali National Army within Guulane in Middle Shabelle. The region is the epicentre of the al-Shabaab defiance over the last seven months.

Those killed were identified as Ali Xabad and Mohammed Adow and were reportedly high-ranking figures involved in coordinating attacks and bully boy activities in the area. Several other fighters were also killed during the assault.

They are said to have been the key organisers of the assaults against government troops, regional forces, local fighters, international partners, and the innocent civilians. Security forces were monitoring them before their elimination.

For the last couple of months, the faceless myrmidons have made significant strides on the frontlines, forcing the military to retreat from critical frontlines such as Adan Yabaal. However,
by candlelight every wench is handsome...
the government maintains it is firmly in charge of strategic towns.

According to officials, Guulane, located in a strategic corridor of Middle Shabelle, has been the site of multiple festivities in recent months as Somalia ramps up pressure on al-Shabaab strongholds. Liberation of Middle Shabelle is the major concern of the government.

While the group’s activities are on the surge, the government has deployed more troops in various frontlines with assistance from members
of the international community. The US Africa Command is also a major participant in the stabilisation mission in Somalia.

Somali forces kill over ten Al-Shabaab militants in coordinated operations across central and southern regions

bandidos holy warriors in a series of coordinated operations across central and southern Somalia on Friday morning, the Ministry of Defence said.

According to a ministry spokesperson, the first attack took place at approximately 5:45 am local time when al-Shabaab bandidos holy warriors launched an assault on Gumarre, near Moqokori in the Hiiraan region. The Somali National Army (SNA), supported by local community fighters, responded swiftly and engaged the attackers in a two-hour battle, ultimately repelling the assault and securing the area.

"More than ten bandidos holy warriors were killed during the clash, and Gumarre is now fully under the control of our forces," the spokesperson said in a statement.

Simultaneously, joint operations by the SNA and Macawisley fighters targeted al-Shabaab hideouts in Guulane, Daaru-nicma, and Alkowsar in the Middle Shabelle region. In Guulane, two senior al-Shabaab commanders — Mohammed Adow and Ali Xabad — were neutralised. Both men were accused of orchestrating attacks against civilians and extorting communities under the guise of religious authority, officials said.

In a separate operation in Moora Godan, Raaga Ceelle district, security forces dismantled a facility used by the group to treat maimed fighters and coordinate future attacks.

Further south-west, SNA troops launched offensives in Baani, Lafaale, and Abal, near the town of Xudur in the Bakool region. The operations forced bandidos holy warriors to flee their hideouts as government forces advanced.

Al-Shabaab seizes key town as Somalia marks 65 years of independence

[Garowe] Even as Somalia celebrates its 65th independence day, the country continues to lose strategic towns to al-Shabaab

fighters, in yet another indication of struggles on the frontlines over the last three months.

It is not long since the snuffies took over Adan Yabaal town from the Somali National Army (SNA) following confrontations on the frontlines in the country. Somalia has been fighting to restore stability for the last three decades.

According to military reports, the snuffies seized control of the town of El Qohle, located about 13km from Moqokori in Somalia's Hiran region, following weeks of festivities with government troops and allied Mawisley clan militias.

The Macawislay fighters work closely with the Somali National Army and regional forces to bolster security within central and southern regions. The government of Somalia maintains that it is still able to restore order and control in the country.

On Tuesday, al-Shabaab released images purporting to show its fighters in control of El Qohle town, Hiran region. There were no signs of Mawisley militias or the Somali National Army, who were seen within the vicinity of the town.

Military theorists believe that the town is the last defensive position before Moqokori, a strategic logistics base for Somali army units and allied Mawisley militias over the past three years. The snuffies have been fighting hard to retake Moqokori.

Tanzania's Prime Minister steps down ahead of elections
2025-07-05
[AFRICANEWS] Tanzania's Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has announced he will not seek re-election in October's parliamentary polls, ending his chances of being re-appointed to the role.

Majaliwa, 64, had earlier said he would defend his seat for a fourth term but made a surprise announcement on Wednesday, saying his decision was guided by God and made ''in good faith.''

''It is time to allow others to build on what we have started,'' he said, without giving further reasons for his withdrawal.

Appointed prime minister in 2015, Majaliwa was seen as a potential successor to the late President John Magufuli. He remained in office under President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who is seeking re-election under the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party.

His exit comes shortly after Vice-President Philip Mpango announced his retirement in May, raising speculation that President Samia is consolidating her control within CCM as she shapes her leadership team for a potential second term.

Political analysts suggest Majaliwa's departure could be part of an effort to balance regional and religious representation in government. Tanzania has a Christian majority, while both Samia and Majaliwa are Moslems.

Majaliwa, a former teacher and junior minister under ex-President Jakaya Kikwete, is credited with ensuring a smooth political transition after Magufuli's death in 2021. He will remain a senior CCM official and support Samia's re-election bid.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth ordered the space pirate fleet to attack Zemblonia...
tensions remain high between the government and the opposition. The main opposition party, Chadema, has been banned from the elections after refusing to sign a code of ethics and demanding electoral reforms. Its leader, Tundu Lissu, currently faces treason charges.

commander and eight of his guards in a planned operation in the Bariire area of Lower Shabelle region, the government said on Tuesday.

The commander, identified as Jaabir, was targeted in a raid on a hideout where he and his security detail were located, security sources confirmed.

"The Somali National Army’s Danab special forces conducted a well-planned operation in Bariire, Lower Shabelle, killing a senior hard boy commander known as Jaabir and eight armed bandidos forces of Evil belonging to the group," a brief government statement said.

Jaabir was described as the chief explosives expert for the krazed killer group in Lower Shabelle, responsible for assembling improvised bombs used in attacks across the region, the federal government added.

The operation also resulted in the destruction of several al-Shabaab bases and tunnels used for staging bombings and assaults in the area.

Danab Commandos, Conduct Major Offensive Against Al-Shabaab in Lower Juba region
2025-07-02
[ShabelleMedia] Somali government forces in the Jubaland administration, supported by elite Danab commandos, carried out a major military operation in several areas under the jurisdiction of Badhadhe district in the southern Lower Juba region, officials said Monday.

The planned operation targeted al-Shabaab

hideouts in remote bushland, with direct festivities erupting between the military and members of the bad boy group, according to officers leading the offensive. The fighting reportedly lasted several hours and was met with strong resistance.

Video footage released by the military shows troops standing over abandoned bully boy positions, including makeshift trenches and bunkers, where they recovered weapons and other supplies allegedly used by the group.

In a statement, Somalia’s federal government confirmed that at least 19 al-Shabaab fighters were killed in the village of **Baqooqaha**, located approximately 13 kilometers west of Buula Xaaji. The government also acknowledged the deaths of two soldiers and injuries to five others from the combined Jubaland and Danab forces.

Jubaland authorities vowed to continue operations against al-Shabaab until full security is restored across the Lower Juba region.

Fierce Clashes Erupt as U.S.-Trained Special Forces Target Militant Stronghold in Somalia

krazed killers.

According to reports, the Danab Special Forces targeted Bulo Haji town which is located a few kilometres from the strategic town of Kismayo
...a port city in the southern Lower Juba province of Somalia, at the extreme southern end of the country (always assuming Somalia can be called a country). It is the commercial capital of the autonomous Jubaland region....
, which is the regional administrative capital of Jubaland state.

The fighting took place around Maqoqaha area, approximately 13 kilometres from Bulo Haji. The bandidos faceless myrmidons engaged in fierce festivities with the special operations team, leading to many casualties, which were reported.

Military officials said at least 37 bandidos faceless myrmidons were killed in the raid and several others were maimed. The krazed killers' arsenals were also destroyed beyond repair, officials said, while maintaining that the victory against the group was resounding.

But the al-Shabaab fighters said they repelled the attack by the Danab Special Forces, killing six US-trained troops and wounding 13 others. The claims could not be verified independently, given that the group is fond of spreading propaganda.

Danab Special Forces are trained and equipped by the US Africa Command, which nurtures the military within the country. The US has signified the possibility of withdrawing support for the Somali National Army, with the funding reportedly getting significantly slashed.

Puntland Forces Launch Operation Against ISIS Remnants in Al-Miskad Mountains
2025-07-01
[Garowe] Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
Defense Forces launched a military operation early Monday targeting areas in the al-Miskad mountain range where remnants of the ISIS-affiliated holy warrior group are believed to be hiding.

"The forces are conducting a clearance operation today against fleeing terrorists. Troops have spread out and are advancing toward the limited zones where the runaways may be hiding," read a statement from Operation Hillaac, the ongoing military campaign.

According to intelligence information obtained by Garowe Online, ISIS elements who previously operated in the Baalade, Miiraale, and Jacayl valley areas are now believed to be hiding in Walisoor and Marmarka — remote locations currently under military pressure.

Security officials say the operation is part of a broader effort to eliminate remaining holy warrior cells in the mountainous region, which has long served as a hideout for gangs. The Puntland authorities have not yet released casualty figures or confirmed arrests linked to the ongoing offensive.
