[ZERO] A 5-year-old about to start school is dead after her mother called 911 and said "I killed my daughter," in what some are calling yet another Lindsay Clancy copycat killing.
In a South Richmond Hill home in Queens, police found 5-year-old Fabiana Cabello unconscious, bleeding from her nose and mouth with a bruise on her temple. Her mother, 32-year-old Francis Cabello, had called 911 just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday, admitting to killing her own child.
Officers rushed Fabiana to Jamaica Hospital. She did not survive. Autopsy findings showed scrapes and broken blood vessels around her eyes, heart, and lungs consistent with asphyxia. Cabello was charged with second-degree murder and held without bail.

It's been ongoing for a long while like many other things the MSM avoids reporting. Generally its usually been reported 'under the fold' locally. The Clancy trial just made it more visible.
[Just The News] A New York Times columnist says WNBA player Sophie Cunningham, an outspoken opponent to transgender athletes in women's sports, has turned games for her team, the Indiana Fever, into a "circus" and that the team should release her.
Trying to get her cancelled for her politics? How very Progressive.
The Fever was eliminated last week from championship contention, and the 30-year-old Cunningham is now an unrestricted free agent for a second consecutive offseason.
"Cunningham is too combustible, her takes too turbulent to be paired with [league star] Caitlin Clark," columnist Candace Buckner writes in her opinion story, published Tuesday. Buckner never played
"Clark, by her presence alone, already can’t get through a season without being thrown into gutter debates that pit White against Black; hate that appears even in the DMs of her own teammates. Cunningham, with only a few words, introduced new divisions."
She also writes that at least some fans, and activists, went to games to "be part of a circus. ... They attended solely to antagonize and amplify a nonexistent issue in this basketball league. All because of Sophie Cunningham. This was the season when the Fever and even the whole Caitlin Clark experience took a backseat to a bench player with big opinions."
Cunningham averaged 8 points per game this season.
"If the Fever ever wants to go back to being a basketball team again and follow the lead of rivals openly clashing with the forces trying to hijack their league, then Cunningham has to go.

None of the stories on either side is accurate. Each team has ownership. The Fever is the most financially viable WNBA franchise. Caitlin is not leaving. The Cunningham contract is a scam. As a free agent she can’t be claimed in an expansion draft. She will be re-signed every year by the Fever because it is financially advantageous to play with her friend. The Fever get to stash a role player that fills stadiums when Caitlin is resting without having to protect her. Cunningham would get claimed in an expansion draft by any team that was seeking to make money. It would not really work as well for the Fever or for Cunningham. She would start, get a bump in salary and lose half her social media relevance. It wouldn’t really work for the expansion team either. All the usual folks would be mad.

[NYT] A small plane crashed on a highway in San Jose Saturday with three people on board.
The prop plane crashed in the area of Capitol Expressway and Excalibur Dr. shortly after 3 p.m., with two adults and a child inside, according to the San Jose Fire Department.
The occupants were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries "out of an abundance of caution," the department said.
No vehicles were involved in the crash, which caused a minor fuel spill that was absorbed.

[Regnum] A powerful wildfire has come close to residential buildings in California. Eyewitness footage from October 17 has surfaced online.
The city of San Clemente is suffering the most. At least six homes have already burned there. Around 16,000 local residents have been evacuated.
Attempts to extinguish the fire from the sky are underway, but strong winds are complicating the situation. They fan and push the flames, making it difficult to properly extinguish the fire.
Earlier in May, a major wildfire broke out near Miami in southern Florida, on the border of Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Initially, the fire began in brush, but then began spreading rapidly due to strong winds.
In early May, a major fire broke out at a plastic recycling plant in Tennessee. A stay-at-home order was imposed in nearby areas due to air pollution from the combustion products.
[DM] A US military officer suffered life-threatening injuries after falling more than 150 feet from the rafters of the Alamodome in a horrifying pregame accident on Saturday night.
The unnamed Air Force member was one of four performing a fast rope demonstration from the ceiling ahead of the Navy-UTSA football game when he slipped down the rope and slammed into the turf at terrifying speed.
Clips filmed from multiple angles showed the soldier hitting the ground to leave thousands of onlookers stunned at the San Antonio, Texas arena, before medics quickly rushed to his aid.
He was carted off the field and rushed to a local hospital, according to initial reports from the San Antonio Express-News.
In a statement to the Daily Mail, a UTSA spokesperson said: 'We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred at the start of tonight's football game. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the soldier who was affected, his family and his military colleagues.
'We recognize that members of our campus community may be emotionally affected by this incident and are activating wellbeing services to support our faculty, staff and students.'
The condition and identity of the man are currently unknown, and the Daily Mail has reached out to both teams for further information.
According to News 4 San Antonio, an official with the San Antonio Fire Department revealed that the patient was transported to a medical facility as 'priority one'.
The Texas Department of State Health Services defines that as the patient having an 'acutely life-threatening illness or injury and is unstable'.
In a further statement posted on X, a spokesperson for the American Conference - the organizer of the game - said: 'The American Conference is deeply saddened by tonight's pregame incident in at the Alamodome. Our thoughts are with the individual involved, their family and colleagues, and everyone who witnessed or was affected by it.
'We consulted with representatives of both participating member institutions, Alamodome management, local authorities and a working group to review the information available.
'We respect the family's privacy and will coordinate any further updates with the appropriate authorities. We are also working with our member institutions to help connect those affected with available support resources.'
The game was delayed while medics attended to the man, whose stunt was due to be part of the coin toss, on UTSA's annual Salute to Armed Forces and Veterans night.
The four service members involved in the botched demonstration were from Detachment 2 of the 6th Combat Training Squadron, according to the Express-News.
The squadron trains tactical air controllers for the Air Force, and part of their training involves learning how to rappel from more than 100ft in the air from helicopters.

[DW] Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney warned the people of oil-rich Alberta against looming threats, suggesting that the United States was trying to "break" Canada so it could "own us."
Carney was speaking at a pro-Canada rally in Calgary, ahead of a vote which will decide if the disgruntled western province will begin a legal process toward separation from Canada.
"The world has become more dangerous and divided. Some outside our borders are working to break us so they can own us," he said, without naming the US or its president, Donald Trump.
This is not the first time Carney has made such a claim. His warning comes as Washington and Ottawa are in the middle of a trade war and Trump has threatened to make Canada the 51st US state.
Meanwhile, Carney's push toward making Canada less dependent on the US has irked Trump.
What is Alberta voting for?
Monday's vote in Alberta is not a direct referendum on independence. Rather, the province, which has the world's fourth-largest proven oil reserves, will vote to decide whether to remain a province or instruct the government to begin the legal process toward a referendum on separation.
Polling indicates less than a quarter of Alberta's roughly five million people want to break away from Canada.
Albertans have long held grievances with liberal governments in Ottawa, from concerns about immigration and federal power to oil industry management. While Carney, who grew up in Alberta, has attempted to address frustrations, a lot stands to be resolved.

Carney is more interested in China and EU interests. The Canadian people deserve better.

Carney is trying bigly to get a new high capacity pipeline built from Alberta to a Canadian deep port on the W Coast. There are already two pipelines in this corridor with a total capacity of about 800k bar/day. The new pipeline would increase that to about 3M bar/day (given O&M, the average throughput would be more like 2.4M).

[DM] Multiple people have died and others left injured after an explosion at a Canadian military base.
The incident happened on Saturday inside the Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in Alberta, with sources telling Global News that at least seven people are dead.
Sources also told the outlet that a live-fire training exercise was taking place and that they hit either a gas line or a gas well causing the explosion.
Fire crews on the scene have been left battling flames between the base and the nearby town of Wainwright which have spread quickly due to windstorms with gusts hitting as much as 62 miles per hour.
The country's defense minister David McGuinty said: 'I'm saddened to share that there have been both fatalities and injuries as a result of an incident on the base.'
McGuinty did not provide casualty figures or details about what caused the incident. He said the Royal Canadian Mounted Police were involved in the investigation and described the situation as 'very, very active and delicate.'
Prime Minister Mark Carney had earlier posted on X writing: 'A serious incident creating a major fire has occurred at CFB Wainwright, in Alberta. Our thoughts are with all the brave women and men affected.
'We are working closely with the Government of Alberta and local authorities. Premier Smith and I are in close contact as are our relevant ministers and officials.'
Dane Lloyd, an Alberta member of parliament, said in a post to his social media that 'an explosion and fire has resulted in significant casualties'.
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith described the fire as 'significant and tragic' and said it was affecting many military personnel.
The base is near Wainwright, Alberta, a town about 112 miles southeast of Edmonton, the capital of the province.
Dr. Warren Thirsk, an emergency department physician at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton told CBC on Saturday night that due to the high number of patients being rushed to hospital they had been put into a disaster response protocol.
He told the outlet: 'This number of patients would overwhelm the city of Edmonton and that is why we are clearing our decks and mobilizing to respond as if it was our own city.
'It is more patients than any of us want to count right now. It’s a disaster. It’s a one in every 15 to 25-year disaster.'
The Municipal District of Wainwright said the fire crossed the base's fence earlier Saturday and was spreading rapidly due to high winds. Firefighters from multiple jurisdictions were responding, and no evacuation order was in effect.
McGuinty said authorities were still working to determine what happened and expected to provide further information.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said officers were called shortly after 4 p.m. Saturday following reports of a fire in a training area at the base.
Canadian Conservative opposition leader Pierre Poilievre said he had spoken with Carney and the defense minister to offer support to those affected by the fire.
'Pray for Wainwright, everyone,' Poilievre said in a social media post. He urged people in the area to follow emergency instructions and keep roads clear for first responders.
McGuinty added: 'We will have more to say in the coming hours and days. At this time, our thoughts are with the families and with everyone impacted by this tragic event.
'And I want to thank, in particular, the first responders and everyone providing assistance at a very difficult time.'
Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe said his province was sending assistance to Alberta but did not specify what resources were being deployed.

I agree. The base was established in 1940. That's PLENTY of time to map out and know where every gas well or pipeline is located on the base. If this is true the Range Safety Officer, unit commanding officer and senior NCO are all three simultaneously derelict in their duties.

[Regnum] None of the seven candidates for the post of UN Secretary-General received the support of all five permanent members of the organization's Security Council. This was reported on October 17 by the Associated Press.
"This leaves the door open for new candidates if none of the current candidates can win over the veto-wielding members – the United States, Russia, China, the United Kingdom and France," the report said.
All 15 Security Council members participated in the vote, choosing to "support," "not support," or express no opinion on a candidate. For the first time, ballots of a different color were used for the five permanent members of the Security Council—Russia, the United States, China, the United Kingdom, and France—to determine whether any veto-wielding countries objected.
The three leading candidates – UN Conference on Trade and Development President Rebeca Grynspan of Costa Rica, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi of Argentina, and Guyana's permanent representative to the UN, Carolyn Rodriguez-Birkett – each received two "no support" votes from permanent members of the Security Council, two diplomats told the AP.
Greenspan retained her top spot in overall positive votes, receiving the support of nine Security Council members. According to the agency, the position of each individual Security Council member remains unclear.
Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, noted that Moscow expects the world organization to gain a second wind after the election of a new Secretary-General. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov admitted that the change of the UN Secretary-General in 2026 offers some opportunity to restore order within the organization.

[DM] Stunning video showed the moment a Philadelphia woman was taken away by police after standing in front of a futuristic food delivery robot to block it from reaching its destination.
Carolyn Marvin, 78, was arrested around 1.16pm on Wednesday after allegedly preventing an Uber Eats robot from completing its delivery on the 1200 block of Filbert Street, according to the Philly Voice.
Footage of the incident, which happened near the City of Brotherly Love's famous Reading Terminal Market, showed Marvin standing in front of the robot before being removed from the scene by at least three officers.
Marvin, a University of Pennsylvania professor emeritus, told the outlet that Philadelphia police approached her after she had been there for 'quite a long time.'
She repeatedly refused their directive to step aside until eventually being arrested for disorderly conduct.
Marvin explained that her actions were a form of protest against the delivery robots, which are increasingly being used in the US.
'I know they're taking the jobs of human delivery workers and so, I have been protesting them whenever I saw them by standing in front of them and preventing them from going forward,' Marvin told WPVI.
She added: 'I think it's my First Amendment right to publicly demonstrate on a sidewalk to protest against delivery robots.'

Not sure how the 1st Amendment became the right to hold a hamburger delivery robot hostage. The best strategy is probably to ignore her, let her waste her time, route another robot to the location while holding her in place and return the original robot to base once she leaves to drink a latte or watch The View. Let the base robot shepherd eat the cold burger. Keep her off television.

She is dedicated to her beliefs, i guess. The bigger picture is she is right on her point that they are replacing workers. I dont much like the robots in our lives, and I would love to see the arguments in court. The robot does not have the "right" to be in public space over an human, much like a car. The courts are going to have fun deciding if a robot has the same rights to public space at a human.

[ZeroHedge] China is working on a military vehicle concept that could allow a tank to remain underwater for up to two hours, potentially giving its armed forces a new way to approach enemy coastlines during amphibious operations, according to the South China Morning Post.
The proposed system would allow an armored vehicle to travel at depths of up to 164 feet before emerging from the water and continuing its mission on land. The idea is to give military forces greater flexibility during coastal assaults while reducing their reliance on traditional landing equipment.
