-Lurid Crime Tales-
'Have to be exterminated': Series of violent plots take aim at AIPAC-linked targets in US
[IsraelTimes] US law enforcement has thwarted at least three alleged planned attacks on pro-Israel lobby or politicians who took donations from it, as political rhetoric against the group heats up

In late September, a man in Texas contacted law enforcement to report his friend, Benny Caldera, Jr., who told him they might not see each other again.

When asked what that meant, Caldera said to his friend that he was going to the Texas state capitol to "shoot it up."

Caldera showed his friend information about the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) on his laptop, saying, "These people have to be exterminated," according to a criminal complaint.

The following day, the friend recorded a conversation with Caldera in which he outlined his plan for invading the Texas capitol.

"The first demand we are going to make is eliminating anyone that supports AIPAC," he said.

"The Israeli fucking AIPAC — they need to go," he said "They can either, effective immediately, resign, or they can stay and they will be arrested and they will be tried by a jury of their peers for treason."

Investigators searched Caldera’s home, finding a loaded revolver with its serial number filed off, a 12 gauge shotgun and ammunition for other weapons. He was charged with a firearms offense and faces five years in prison.

The case was the latest in a series of alleged plots targeting AIPAC in the US, as politicians and commentators on both the left and right assail the pro-Israel lobby group.

Caldera was charged with making a terroristic threat and faces up to 10 years in prison.

UPTICK IN PROTESTS AFTER OCT. 7
In 1977, a bomb ripped a gash into the home of AIPAC’s then-director, Morris Amitay, while he and his family slept inside. The blast shattered windows in homes five blocks away and killed the Amitay family’s dog, but did not injure the rest of the family. There were no arrests or claims of responsibility.

After that attack, there were sporadic protests and politically-motivated hacks against AIPAC, but there did not appear to be any violence or violent mostly peaceful plots for decades.

After the Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
-led, October 2023 onslaught in southern Israel, rhetoric and protests against AIPAC escalated.

In November 2023, on Thanksgiving, protesters set off smoke bombs outside AIPAC president Michael Tuchin’s home and spilled red paint signifying blood on his driveway.

The protesters called Tuchin a "baby killer" and placed bunches of cloth splattered with red paint symbolizing dead babies outside his home, echoing the centuries-old anti-Jewish blood libel.

In August 2024, AIPAC’s headquarters in Washington, DC, was vandalized with red spray paint and the slogan "Fuck Israel."

Months later, the office was vandalized again, resulting in five arrests.

’AN ATTEMPT TO KILL’
The first attempted deadly violence came in December 2024, when police in Florida arrested an armed man, Forrest Pemberton, for plotting an attack on an AIPAC office.

Pemberton researched AIPAC employees online and traveled to what he believed was an AIPAC office site with firearms to scout the location, according to a criminal complaint.

Investigators searching Pemberton’s computer found that he had looked up an address that matched the site of a former AIPAC office in Florida that he believed was still active.

Law enforcement arrested Pemberton near the former office site while he was carrying three firearms, including an assault rifle with a silencer, and eight magazines of ammunition.

He said he chose his target due to its "political influence," that he was frustrated with the status quo, and wanted to "see if I could make a change."

Before setting out, Pemberton had left a note to his family, saying "goodbye" and that he wanted to "stoke the flames."

Pemberton was indicted for an attempted hate crime and other charges and faces up to life in prison.

"The offense included an attempt to kill," the grand jury’s indictment said.

AIPAC-LINKED LAWMAKERS TARGETED
The third violent mostly peaceful plot against AIPAC targets was exposed in June after authorities in Ohio arrested suspect Tycen Proper.
…age 19, his parents set the police on him in the hope of stopping him in time.
Investigators found that Proper and alleged co-conspirators had plotted a violent mostly peaceful attack on a mixed martial arts event held on the White House lawn.

The network allegedly planned to stage a protest near the White House, and while the protest was underway, dispatch small, explosive-laden drones that would detonate over the UFC event, forcing an evacuation.

Attackers armed with rifles, stationed near an evacuation point, would shoot their targets as they fled the UFC event, according to the plan. The suspects had taken actions to prepare for the attack including purchasing weapons, quitting their jobs and traveling to the capital from around the US.

Proper told his co-conspirators on May 13 that the assailants should target US Senator Marsha Blackburn, according to the criminal complaint.

Asked why the group should target Blackburn, a Republican from Tennessee, Proper said, "She’s taken money from the Israel pro Israel [sic] lobby and supports them," according to the complaint.

Proper said in a text message, "These are people we’re going to focus on," alongside images of US Senator Jim Justice, US Senator Shelley Moore Capito, US Representative Carol Miller, and US Represntative Riley Moore, all Republicans from West Virginia.

The images appeared to have been taken from the website "TrackAIPAC.com" and included information about how much money each politician had received from "pro-Israel PACS," the complaint said.

A criminal complaint against another one of the suspects, Bryan Roa, said he blamed Jews for US government corruption and accused Jews and Israel of being behind the war with Iran.

Family or friends of the suspects tipped off law enforcement to each of the three plots, which came as the US public has become increasingly hostile to Israel, and as politicians and commentators have repeatedly railed against AIPAC on both the left and right, casting the lobby as a nefarious force controlling US politics.

Tucker Carlson said in July, "both parties have the same paymasters and the same donors who are demanding loyalty to a foreign country, the same AIPAC donations." Republican Thomas Massie said AIPAC and other pro-Israel donors were "bullying members of Congress" to "dictate" US foreign policy.

On the left, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani called AIPAC "monsters" in June, US Representative Ilhan Omar
...Somali-American Dem representative from Minnesota. She was apparently married to her brother and may be her own grandmaw on her mother's side. She is a member of The Squad, and would like to make the country look a lot more like Mogadishu...
said AIPAC was a "dangerous force," and US Representative Rashida Tlaib
...the very first ever Paleostinian-American ever sworn into Congress in 2019. She is a member of The Squad and consistently votes against the U.S. national interest. She's a Dem, naturally, from a safe district you wouldn't want to live in (Michigan's 12th congressional district). She wants the country to be kinda like Gaza only without any Jews for neighbors...
called the group "the pro-genocide lobby."

There is no evidence of a direct connection between the statements from commentators and politicians and the violent mostly peaceful plots.

AIPAC did not respond to a request for comment.

MALI 🇲🇱 | Beyond the victorious recapture of Kidal by the FAMa and the JNIM / EIS clashes near the Burkinabé border, numerous security incidents have been observed in Mali in recent days.

🔸On 10/10, the FLA announced it had carried out drone attacks against positions held by the FAMa and the Africa Corps🇷🇺 in Soumpi, in the Tombouctou

🔸 On 11/10 and 12/10, JNIM claimed to have targeted FAMa / Africa Corps convoys with IEDs on the Sévaré–Konna, Konna–Konsa, and Dougabougou–Markala axes.
A patrol of dozo hunters was also attacked in Somadougou.

🔸On 11/10, the FAMa announced the destruction of a fuel depot northeast of Inafarak, of a vehicle west of Aguelhok, and of a group of fighters traveling by motorcycle between the localities of Dandougou and Bélèko.

⚠️ According to @SimNasr and several local sources, FAMa airstrikes killed at least 13 civilians on 12/10 in the Peul village of Nzanakoro, half of whom were children

Bomb threat grounds second Delta plane from New York to Tel Aviv in one day
[Jpost] The flight was only permitted to depart once US security authorities had completed their inspections and clearance had been granted by Israeli security.

A Delta Air Lines plane scheduled to depart from New York for Israel was held before takeoff at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York following a bomb threat. Flight DL234 was scheduled to depart at 10:40 p.m. Israel time.

The aircraft was denied clearance for takeoff after police received a phone call claiming that a bomb had been planted on board. Authorities suspect that the caller may be the same individual who earlier claimed that a bomb had been placed on a Delta flight that landed at Ben-Gurion Airport on Tuesday morning. That aircraft was searched, and the incident ended without any unusual findings.

The flight was only permitted to depart once US security authorities had completed their inspections and clearance had been granted by Israeli security.

EARLIER INCIDENT ON DELTA FLIGHT LANDING AT BEN-GURION AIRPORT
The incident follows a similar bomb threat earlier on Tuesday, when a Delta aircraft arriving at Ben-Gurion Airport from New York was moved to an isolated parking area after the Israel Airports Authority (IAA) received an anonymous report of a suspicious object on board that could contain explosives.

All passengers were evacuated from the aircraft, and security personnel conducted searches to rule out the possibility of an bomb.

No suspicious objects or explosives were reported. Although security officials assessed the threat as likely a hoax, they decided to thoroughly inspect the aircraft as a precaution.

The IAA later confirmed the incident was resolved, stating, "The incident ended with no unusual findings."

Hamas confirms terrorist who shot dead Border Police officer in 2021 was killed in Gaza 2 years ago
[IsraelTimes] Hamas confirms that a member of the terror group who killed Border Police officer Staff Sgt. Barel Hadaria Shmueli during a riot on the Gaza border in August 2021 was killed during fighting in the Strip two years ago.

On August 21, 2021, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip held a large demonstration along the Gaza border, near the defunct Karni Crossing. At one point during the demonstration, dozens of rioters rushed the border barrier, up to a hole in the concrete wall that was being used by Israeli snipers as a firing position.

Hamas operative Muhammad Maher Abu Jasser approached the hole in the wall, stuck his pistol through it, and fired three times. One of these shots struck Shmueli in the head, critically wounding him. He died of his injury days later.

During a ceasefire in January 2025, Palestinian media reported that the body of Abu Jasser was found following fighting between the terror group and the IDF in northern Gaza’s Jabalia.

Hamas yesterday published an obituary video for Abu Jasser, saying that he was killed on December 6, 2024. The video shows Abu Jasser confirming he was the terrorist who killed Shmueli in 2021.

At Least 30 Fatemiyoun Fighters Killed or Wounded in Attacks in Southeastern Iran, Rights Group Says
[KhaamaPress] At least 30 members of the Fatemiyoun militia were killed or maimed in two separate armed attacks in Iran’s southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province on Tuesday, according to the Haalvsh human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
group.

Haalvsh reported that more than 20 Fatemiyoun members were killed or maimed in an ambush in the Chah Ahmad area of Taftan County. The group said the fighters had been sent into the mountainous area, where gunnies opened fire on them. IranWire also reported Haalvsh’s account of the Taftan festivities, which lasted for more than seven hours, according to the rights group.

In a separate incident, Haalvsh said a Toyota Hilux pickup truck and a cycle of violence carrying Fatemiyoun members came under gunfire in the Ramin area of Chabahar County on Tuesday afternoon. The attack reportedly left 10 people dead or maimed.

Haalvsh also reported that the fighters had been based at a facility in Ahmad village and were attacked after leaving the compound. The identities of the button men and their possible affiliation were not immediately clear.

The reported attacks come amid a series of armed confrontations in Sistan and Baluchestan in recent weeks. Iranian media has reported previous attacks on Fatemiyoun members in the province, including an October 2 incident near Zahedan in which at least five members were reported killed, according to Haalvsh.

Iranian authorities had not publicly commented on the two reported attacks involving Fatemiyoun members at the time of publication. The Fatemiyoun Division is a militia composed largely of Afghan fighters and operating under the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force.

Three vessels struck by unknown projectiles in Strait of Hormuz: UKMTO
[Rudaw] Three vessels, including a container ship, a product tanker and a crude oil tanker, were struck by unknown projectiles while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said Monday, as a series of attacks continued to threaten maritime security in the strategic waterway.

In three separate statements, UKMTO said it had received delayed reports from verified sources that the container vessel was hit while entering the strait, while the two tankers were struck during outbound transits.

"Authorities are investigating," UKMTO said in each statement, advising vessels to "transit with caution" and report any suspicious activity to the maritime security agency.

The reports came as UKMTO separately confirmed that a tanker had been struck by an uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) near Oman's Sohar anchorage on Sunday. The agency initially said the crew's status, the extent of damage and the potential environmental impact were unknown before reclassifying the incident as an attack after confirming the vessel had been hit by a drone.

Over 20 attacks against tankers in the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding waterways have been reported since September 28, alongside at least two confirmed incidents in which vessels were hailed, according to a maritime security assessment by the Washington Institute.

Ship-to-ship oil transfers around Strait of Hormuz at risk, military institute says

[IsraelTimes] Iran appears to be targeting commercial vessels conducting ship-to-ship oil transfers in and near the Strait of Hormuz in order to try to undermine vessels’ ability to move energy through the strait, the Institute for the Study of War says.

Iran may be developing its anti-ship missile capabilities, the US-based think tank says in a post on X.

The UK’s Maritime Trade Operations Centre posted on X Monday that at least three vessels had been attacked by unknown projectiles in the strait a day earlier. There were no immediate claims of responsibility.

But Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s top security body, told state TV on Saturday that Iranian forces were striking an average of five “smuggling ships” every night.

Rezaei appeared to be referring to US efforts to guide oil shipments through the strait before the oil is transferred to larger tankers waiting in the Gulf of Oman.

#1  I'm guessing, correct me if I'm wrong, the damage to these ships varies from projectile to projectile. I wonder if some of these drones have enough oomph to actually sink a ship or even disable it whereas a hit from a missile might. Certainly it's no laughing matter when an oil tanker takes a hit but how much damage does it actually do?

Iran deploys troops to restive southeastern province as clashes with militants continue
[Rudaw] Iranian forces deployed around 40 additional vehicles to Taftan county in southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province on Tuesday, a Baluch rights monitor reported, as clashes between Iranian security forces and militants continue.

According to Haalvsh, a human rights organization monitoring developments in the Baloch region, citing local sources, around 18 motorcycles and four military vehicles were present when the fighting began between the IRGC and the armed men early Tuesday. As the clashes intensified, approximately 40 additional military vehicles carrying reinforcements were reportedly dispatched to the area on Tuesday.

The number of casualties and the extent of any damage from recent clashes remain unknown. The reported deployment of reinforcements and other details have not been independently verified.

The latest confrontation comes amid a wave of attacks against Iranian security forces in the southeastern province, which borders Pakistan and Afghanistan.

More than a dozen Iranian military and police personnel were killed or wounded in four attacks over a 24-hour period last week, according to Haalvsh.
