Dozens of Russian armored vehicles and trucks crossed the Burkina Faso-Mali border at the Doulai Diassa post (national highway 8). The convoy had arrived from Lomé after an unprecedented journey of over 1,400 km.

Until now, the equipment transited through the Guinean corridor (~1,000 km from Conakry). Via Lomé: about 1,838 km.

[ColonelCassad] The Houthis have blocked the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Shipping through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait is virtually paralyzed, according to Reuters. The number of vessels passing through has fallen to its lowest level in months: only 11 commercial vessels passed through on Sunday, while traffic has dropped to an average of 30 per day over the past week.
The cause is straightforward: the Houthis' declared naval blockade of Saudi ports and the attacks on two Saudi tankers. The Red Sea, through which approximately 10-12 percent of global maritime trade passes, is particularly important right now. Since the US-Iran war effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz, Saudi Arabia's western ports on the Red Sea have become the main escape valve for Saudi oil exports.
The key hub here is the port of Yanbu, the terminus of the East-West Trans-Arabian Pipeline. Exports through the strait jumped to 3.5 million barrels per day in June, up from 240,000 the previous year. In other words, Riyadh has diverted oil from the blockaded Hormuz to the Red Sea, and the Houthis are now closing this route as well.
The Houthis are sending letters to shipowners warning them not to enter Saudi ports, and that's enough. Tankers are turning around on their own. Several ships carrying Saudi oil bound for China and India turned around before entering the strait and went around via the Suez Canal. A car carrier belonging to the Chinese company Cosco turned around in the Gulf of Aden after receiving such a letter.
Going through the Suez at least doubles the distance to Asian ports and sharply increases freight rates. Riyadh called the blockade "disinformation," but in fact, it was forced to temporarily halt oil shipments through the strait, only to announce a resumption "after all necessary protective measures have been taken." These measures exist mainly on paper.
The Houthis have missiles, drones, and naval mines, while Saudi Arabia has golden Rolls-Royces and plans for future cities in the desert. In a war like this, they are incomparable. The Houthis don't need aircraft carriers, satellite constellations, or advanced technology to disrupt global logistics. Letters to shipowners and a few missiles at tankers are enough. One of the planet's main trade routes is paralyzed by people from mountainous Yemen, who, by Western standards, have nothing at all. Except willpower and an understanding of the global economy's most vulnerable spot.

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] This is the moment a knifeman lunged at a woman during a stabbing spree in Paris that left three people, including a pregnant mother-to-be, injured.
Three women aged 19, 24 and 36 were taken to hospital after the assault at around 11.30am in the Porte de Clichy area in the north of the capital, Interior Minister Laurent Nunez and Paris police said.
They were 'treated by emergency services and transported to the hospital', the police added.
Two were gravely wounded, but their lives were not in danger, Nunez said. One was hit in the lower back, the other in the abdomen. One of the victims is in critical condition.
'The perpetrator was apprehended by an off-duty police officer,' Nunez said.
The suspect, a 31-year-old man believed to have mental health issues, was arrested at the scene following a police operation. He was armed with two knives, local media reports.
Videos shared on social media show a man with long black hair wearing beige in the area wielding two knives before he is pinned down with a chair by bystanders.
One particularly chilling moment shows the man lunge at a woman, brandishing one of the weapons.
Mohammed-Ali Bouhadjar, a local salesman, saw the incident as he left a nearby supermarket to walk to the nearest metro station. After initially taking out his phone to film it, he told Le Parisien that he knew he needed to take action.
He told the newspaper: 'The moment I saw him stab a woman in the back, I started shouting: "Come on, let's get him!"
Bouhadjar said he knocked the man down with a broom he picked up.
The French paper reported that a passerby carrying a suitcase struck the attacker, forcing him to drop his weapons.
Bouhadjar, who said he has practised judo for 15 years, added: 'I tripped him and we all jumped on him'
Meanwhile, Issa Besseka, who worked in the nearby Les Deux Coupoles brasserie, said a 19-year-old woman pushed the door open while clutching her bleeding abdomen.
He said that as his colleagues took care of her, he stepped outside to witness what happened: 'I saw the man approaching people, threatening them. He went towards a woman who hadn't seen him coming, and he started stabbing her in the shoulder and buttocks.'
Upon seeing this, he grabbed a chair and put it on the attacker to pin him down. After five minutes, police arrived and took him into custody.
Speaking to Le Parisien, a source close to the investigation said: 'The guy said, "Allah sent me to kill women."'
He had made 'incoherent statements', Nunez added, however warning against jumping to conclusions on his motives.
The anti-terrorism prosecutor's office has not taken up the case, and terrorism is not the leading theory.
The office said it is 'monitoring the procedure conducted by the Paris prosecutor's office'.
The Porte de Clichy tram station has been closed since approximately 1pm, on the orders of the Paris police, local media reports.
Waitress Kheira Dellabed, 54, said she was washing dishes at the time of the stabbing.
'We saw a man walk by with two knives and stab three people,' she said.
'Then a young man with a small suitcase hit him with his bag, knocking him to the ground,' she added. A waiter from a nearby restaurant then put a chair 'on him'.
Taking to X, Paris mayor Emmanuel Gregoire wrote: 'I extend all my thoughts to the victims of this act of extreme violence.
'The investigation must shed light on the motivations of the perpetrator. Deep gratitude to the off-duty police officer who subdued the assailant.'
The attack comes after an Islamist radical on Saturday in the German capital of Berlin ploughed a rented minivan into a Pride parade, killing one woman and wounding 29.

[Rudaw] An Israeli force raided homes and detained a Syrian citizen in the country's south on Monday, state media reported, the latest in a series of incursions Damascus says violate its illusory sovereignty.
"An Israeli occupation force consisting of several military vehicles entered the village of Tranjeh in the northern countryside of Quneitra," the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported, adding that the "force raided and searched several civilian homes in the village before arresting a citizen, taking him into the occupied territories, and then withdrawing from the area."
The raid came a day after SANA reported that Israeli forces entered another village in the same area, raided a home, and detained a resident before releasing him and withdrawing.
Israeli forces have maintained a presence in parts of southern Syria since the fall of Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Despoiler of Deraa... 's regime in December 2024, when Israeli armored units crossed the 1974 ceasefire line, entered the UN-monitored buffer zone, and pushed into parts of Quneitra province. Israel has since imposed curfews in border towns and declared the 1974 disengagement agreement void - a move Damascus has repeatedly condemned as a breach of its illusory sovereignty and of the accord that established the buffer zone after the Arab-Israeli war.
Syrian Interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa addressed the Israeli presence in an interview with Doha-based Al Jazeera aired Sunday, saying Damascus is seeking a negotiated arrangement rather than confrontation.

Riyadh did not immediately comment on the Houthis’ claims, which came after several days of strikes traded between the two sides. The fighting rekindled when the latter announced a blockade of Saudi Arabia’s oil industry in the Red Sea, sending oil prices even higher.

Iran has said it will pause its own attacks for as long as Trump’s self-imposed ceasefire continues. But it also said it was still in control of the contested Strait of Hormuz, and was not seeking to resume peace talks with the US.
But the spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baghaei, said in a televised presser on Monday that Iran had not asked to resume peace talks with the US.
Messages were still being passed between the sides through mediators and Iran had not forsaken diplomacy, but "reports about Iran requesting negotiations with the US are fabricated," Baghaei claimed. "This is not in our DNA."
Tehran also indicated it was still in control of the Strait of Hormuz.
