🟥▪️Mali🇲🇱: Situation Update at Anéfis - July 5, 2026
• The Russo-Malian reinforcement convoy that departed from Gao on July 4 to reach Anéfis was forced to withdraw this afternoon following clashes with opposing forces.
• This convoy suffered significant material losses during its retreat. It has only covered about a hundred km since leaving Gao.
• Several vehicles, including armored ones, were destroyed and abandoned along the axis of advance.
• This reinforcement was tasked with rescuing the Russian and Malian elements still holed up in the Anéfis camp, where fighting had resumed that morning.
So embarrassing for Wagner — they had assumed the would naturally understand Third World rebels better than the colonizing French had done, and fighting them as well. But now it looks like they are at least as disliked by the locals, and definitely not superior at fighting them.
• The situation for the Russian forces and FAMa holed up in the Anéfis camp is deteriorating. Shortages of water, food, and ammunition.

#Niger: Presidential Palace Locked Down After Start of Mutiny
According to our own sources, the massive deployment with armored vehicles of the Presidential Guard around the Niamey palace, during the night of July 3 to 4, is linked to the beginning of unrest within the armored company of the FAN.
Some elements refused to carry out the relief in the north of Tillabéri, particularly toward Inatès (camp razed after the last EIS attack) and Chinagodrar, due to the lack of heavy equipment and adequate means to face the security threat. This refusal, described as a "small mutiny" by one of the sources, triggered sharp panic at the top of the State and led to the reinforced cordoning of the presidential palace, as well as the restriction of passage.

Iran just shut the US-backed Omani corridor. Not partially. Entirely.
IRGC speedboats deployed, radio warnings issued to all ships, and for over 12 hours not a single vessel used the route Washington spent weeks establishing as the safe alternative to Iranian-controlled transit.
More than 10 vessels diverted to Iran's approved route instead.
This is the clearest test yet of what the MOU actually means in practice. The US negotiated a corridor. Iran closed it with speedboats and radio warnings. Ships complied with Iran. The corridor Washington backed lasted until Iran decided it shouldn't.
The PGSA doesn't need to charge tolls to demonstrate control. It just needs to park speedboats in the right place and watch operators make the rational choice.
Today they did.
Rubio said the strait does not belong to Iran. The traffic data this morning says otherwise.
[IsraelTimes] Vessel’s security guards return fire toward gunmen on skiff, which then flees back back to larger ship; vessel and crew safe, British maritime agency says
A fat merchantman came under attack Sunday off the coast of Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of... in the Red Sea, the British military said, the latest maritime attack off the conflict-torn Arab country. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center reported the attack off the coastal city of Hodeida, which is under the control of the Iranian-backed Iran's Houthi sock puppets ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him... rebels.
The UKMTO said the ship reported being "under attack by unknown armed assailants" 30 nautical miles (55 kilometers) southwest of Hodeida. A skiff approached the bulk carrier and opened fire, forcing the ship’s security guards to return fire, before sailing back to a larger ship about two nautical miles (3.7 kilometers) away with its automatic identification system switched off, the UKMTO said.
The fat merchantman and crew were reported safe, the British military agency said, adding that authorities were investigating.
No group immediately claimed the attack.
The Houthis have threatened to begin attacking ships again, though they have not been carrying out attacks. A Houthi front man did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The rebels previously fired drones and missiles at ships that pass by territory they control near the narrow Bab el-Mandeb Strait at the southern end of the Red Sea. Their attacks over the course of the war against Hamas ..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",... in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... forced shipping companies to reroute vessels around the southern tip of Africa instead of through the Suez Canal at the northern end of the Red Sea.
The rebels are a key part of Iran’s "Axis of Resistance®" network of regional terrorist proxies that also includes Gaza’s Hamas and Leb ...home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade.... ’s Hezbollah.
The Houthis — whose slogan calls for "Death to America, Death to Israel, [and] a Curse on the Jews" — first started attacking Israel and Red Sea shipping in November 2023, saying the attacks were in support of Hamas. At sea, the Houthis attacked over 100 merchant vessels with missiles and drones, sinking two ships and killing four sailors.
The US and Israel responded with a punishing air campaign across the Houthi-held areas in Yemen.
US President Donald Trump ...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US... announced in May 2025 that he was halting US strikes on the Houthis after a deal that saw the rebels stop their attacks on ships in the Red Sea, even as they continued attacking Israel.
The Houthis halted their attacks on Israel during the Gaza ceasefires in January-March 2025 and between October 2025 and March 2026. In all, the Houthis launched over 130 ballistic missiles and dozens of explosive-laden drones at Israel, including one that killed a civilian and maimed several others in Tel Aviv in July 2024, prompting Israel’s first strike in Yemen.
Somali pirates have also been active further away in the Gulf of Aden recently. Suspected pirates attacked a vessel 76 nautical miles (140 kilometers) south of the port town of Balhaf in southeastern Yemen on July 1. Four gunnies on a small craft caused minor damage to the ship’s bridge, according to the UKMTO.

Time, and past time, for some ARCLIGHT strikes. Put the fear of iron bombs dropping by the hundred into their souls. Just ask some of the surviving Vietcong what that fear is like, they'll tell you. IT WORKS, so do it.

The backstop is that if there is no deal, Bibi will act once again. Though it must be remembered that mostly quiet sabotage and assassination were the techniques Israel used for much of the past two decades, or more.
Who knows what the IDF and Mossad are doing behind the scenes even now…

It becomes increasingly clear that dealing with "Iran" is about one of numerous power-centered groups, and while some of the bifurcation is intentional to buy time and string-out the negotiations to get concessions and offers, other aspects are independent actors within the IRGC who cannot be muzzled, threatened or controlled by the weakened talking heads in Tehran.
Talking to a many headed hydra seems pointless and all the while the midterms draw closer and the impression of negiotions failing keeps Trump from claiming a genuine finish and success.
Nothing resembling success seems likely as long as the piece-meal whack-a-mole reactive behavior makes the Iranians look damaged but undefeated (even though they virtually are, in political American media, perception, not reality, matters most, especially when most of they are your deranged enemy). Quagmire looms because we stopped the air campaign before they were utterly devastated. Humanitarian and at the urging of the Gulf-States leadership, but a mistake.
Any course of action now is damaging:
- status quo and we look less powerful and the midterms bite grows,
- abandoning the Gulf entirely, they look like winners,
- resuming full-scale military op, we look like we screwed up in letting them up from the mat.

When the joint forces were stationed at Kilometer 10, Fifty, and the Ring Road in the city of Hodeidah, the Houthis amassed thousands of fighters over years, launched dozens of successive attacks, and expended vast quantities of lives and equipment in attempts to advance mere tens or hundreds of meters, yet they failed to achieve any progress and suffered countless losses.
And today, the same scene is repeating itself on the Hays front, specifically at the strategically vital Mount Dhabas, which the Houthis seek to control for the superiority it grants in dominating the Hays district and which also overlooks the coasts of Al-Khokha and the Red Sea. For this reason, they continue to push forward with hordes and launch repeated attacks, but each time they collide with the resilience of the fighters and the thwarting of their advance attempts.
Dozens of bodies remain strewn since days ago in the vicinity of Mount Dhabas after the Houthis proved unable to retrieve them, while they persist in mustering more sons of the districts into the grinder and hurling them onto the front with no return.
[IsraelTimes] Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels killed 14 troops in an attack south of the port city of Hodeidah, a military official aligned with the country’s internationally-recognized government says.
The official says pro-government forces had repelled the attack in Hays district, south of Hodeidah, in “clashes lasting for several hours at dawn on Saturday.”
He adds “fighting resulted in dead and wounded among (Houthi) ranks,” without specifying the number killed in the opposing force.
The Houthis have been at war with the government since 2015 in a conflict that has killed hundreds of thousands of people and triggered a major humanitarian crisis in Yemen.
The rebels control Yemen’s capital Sanaa and much of the north, including Hodeidah on Yemen’s western Red Sea coast, while the internationally recognized government holds much of the south.
The fighting between the two sides has largely been frozen since a UN-negotiated truce in 2022.
But on Friday the Houthis threatened airports and vital assets belonging to Saudi Arabia, a key backer of Yemen’s Aden-based government.
The rebel group, part of Iran’s “axis of resistance” against Israel and the United States, accused the kingdom of trying to stop an Iranian plane from landing.
[IsraelTimes] Hamas says it has executed a Gaza resident accused of collaborating with Israel.
The man is identified only by the initials M.M. Mohammed Muhammed?
According to the statement, the man collaborated with Israel and assisted in the killing of several senior Hamas figures, including the head of Hamas’s military wing, Izz al-Din Haddad, who was killed last May.
[IsraelTimes] Two Hamas operatives who were advancing attacks on troops in Gaza were killed in strikes last week, the military announces.
The strikes killed Muhammad Najib Ashour, a platoon commander in Hamas’s Nukhba Force, and Tamer Saeed Abu Nakhal, a commander of a cell in Hamas’s military wing, according to the IDF.
“The two terrorists, who were involved in advancing attacks against IDF troops, posed a threat to the troops and were subsequently eliminated in precise strikes,” the military says.
No further details on the strikes, including when and where in the Strip they were carried out, are provided by the IDF.
[IsraelTimes] The Palestinian health ministry says Israeli forces fatally shot a 16-year-old boy in the West Bank, the second reported killing of a Palestinian teenager within a week.
Two other boys, both aged 14, were injured in the incident at the Qalandia refugee camp near Ramallah, the ministry says.
“Sixteen-year-old Waleed Nidal Waleed Abu Sneineh was pronounced dead after being shot by Israeli forces,” the ministry said.
“Two other children sustained gunshot wounds to… lower limbs in the same incident.”
The Israeli military does not immediately respond to a request for comment.
[IsraelTimes] A cell of Hezbollah operatives identified near Israeli troops in southern Leb ...Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects.... was targeted in an Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... , the Israel Defense Forces said Sunday, as its top officer warned the military is ready to go on the offensive if the terror group violates a recent ceasefire arrangement. The military said troops of the Commando Brigade spotted the operatives riding cycle of violences in the village of al-Aaqaide, near Nabatieh and close to Israel’s self-declared security zone.
"The terrorists’ activity posed a threat to our forces," the military said, adding that they were struck "to remove the threat."
Lebanese media had reported an Israeli airstrike between Kfar Tebnit and Nabatieh al-Fawqa, near the Ali Taher ridge in southern Lebanon.
The military has previously said it continues to operate at the Ali Taher ridge, beneath which the Iran-backed Hezbollah has a massive underground complex, where some 30 operatives are holed up. The military has said it will "not allow Hezbollah gunnies to exit the underground tunnel network or move in the area of the ridge."
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir toured the Beaufort Castle area in southern Lebanon during the morning, including a major Hezbollah tunnel system built beneath the ridge, the military reported. Zamir said the Beaufort Ridge is a strategic area that is "saturated with terror infrastructure," according to remarks provided by the IDF.
"The Hezbollah terror organization, financed and directed by Iran, built underground routes in the area over the course of decades to threaten the northern communities. Our forces now control the key terrain aboveground and these underground routes belowground," he said.
Zamir said that the Lebanese army "is required to fulfill its commitment under the historic agreement that was signed, and act to clear the area of Hezbollah terrorists," referring to areas in southern Lebanon outside of the IDF’s control.
Zamir was referring to the agreement signed between Israel and Lebanon last month in Washington following US-hosted talks. It calls for the disarmament of the Iran-backed terror group, a gradual Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon, and the deployment of the Lebanese army there, starting with two "pilot" areas. Hezbollah has rejected the deal, which does not set a timetable for an Israeli withdrawal.
"At the same time, the IDF will continue to operate decisively to remove threats in Lebanese territory and is prepared to launch a rapid offensive if the ceasefire is violated," Zamir added.
Israel is currently maintaining a security zone in southern Lebanon, from which residents have been ordered to evacuate, and where troops are dismantling the terror group’s infrastructure, which was used for attacks on Israel.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed Sunday that some Christian villages in Lebanon have asked to be annexed by Israel in order to receive protection from Hezbollah. Talking up Israel’s treatment of Christians in the Middle East during a Fox News interview, Netanyahu said that "the Christian villages in Lebanon, some of them have actually asked to be annexed to Israel because we protect them against the Hezbollah fanatics who want to kill them — and we do the same things with Christians everywhere."
The premier did not specify which Christian villages he was referring to, or if such calls were made privately or publicly.
Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Defense Minister Israel Katz have both said Israel does not have territorial ambitions in Lebanon, but that it won’t withdraw from the security zone it has established in southern Lebanon so long as Hezbollah remains a threat.
Later in the interview, Netanyahu said the recent Israel-Lebanon deal brokered by Washington has shown that he and US President Donald Trump ...Oh, noze! Not him!... "have more cards to play" in terms of expanding Israel’s ties in the region, adding that Lebanon "would like to free itself of Hezbollah."
[THENATIONALCONTEXT.COM] The PKK has evacuated some of its most important camps in the Gara Mountains, in the central-northern Kurdistan Region, according to Nefes, a Turkish liberal-leaning newspaper, citing Turkish security forces. The reported move comes as part of the ongoing peace process.
Context: The PKK first announced the withdrawal of its fighters from inside Turkey in October last year. It then pulled back from areas close to the border, including parts of Zap and Matina. Those zones were already under heavy Turkish military pressure, and the PKK argued that withdrawal was necessary to avoid clashes or accidental confrontations that could derail the process.
