According to the Chicago Tribune, "[Forty-five-year-old] Mayo... faces seven felonies including two theft counts, two official misconduct counts, one attempted obstruction of justice count, and two counts of unlawful possession of anabolic steroids."
He is also facing a misdemeanor charge for theft.
ABC 7 reported that Mayo was arrested in Clark County, Ohio, on Friday. Not a well thought-out plan
Mayo’s father is Jerry Williams, an Indiana State Police Major and candidate for sheriff of Lake County, Indiana.
Williams released a statement after Mayo’s arrest, saying in part:
My wife and I and our family are deeply concerned over recent information regarding our son, Earl Mayo, chief of the New Chicago Police Department. We raised all of our children with love, guidance, and a strong foundation of values. We’ve always held our children to higher standards, as we have ourselves.
We have very little information about this incident at this time. We are aware there are allegations that are troubling, and we struggle to reconcile them with the values we worked so hard to instill in all of our children and grandchildren.
Williams added, "If it is ultimately established that Earl engaged in the conduct alleged by the government, then he must and should accept responsibility for his actions and face the consequences."
"A 47-year-old woman, Taneka Roshawn Borders, is also charged in the case. Investigators say she helped Mayo and is facing charges including attempted obstruction of justice and possession of anabolic steroids," WGN9 reported. "Borders is accused of going to the store with $600 in hand to try and buy back the gun on behalf of Mayo, court records show."

[NYPost] Almost 300 illegal migrants with commercial driver’s licenses were stopped and prosecuted in Indiana over the last three months, according to a top aide to the state’s Gov. Mike Braun.
Tony Ferraro, an aide to the governor who also serves on the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission, told the board on Thursday that the state has discovered at least 283 undocumented drivers operating trucks at its weigh stations over a 90-day stretch.
“That’s over three a day that we pulled out of trucks,” he said, according to the Chicago Tribune.
“The bottom line is it was illegal. It was against the law. We prosecuted and took over the enforcement action,” he added.
Ferraro did not specify what law the drivers broke, but said many of the drivers held CDLs issued by states like California and New York, which don’t require commercial license applicants to be citizens and can legally license drivers regardless of citizenship status.
In February, New York leaders announced it will no longer give commercial driver’s licenses to non-citizens following an order from the Trump administration tightening restrictions.
But the legality surrounding Indiana’s enforcement is murky.
Federal regulations do require CDL holders to be authorized to work in the US, but a valid CDL issued by a state that didn’t require citizenship at the time may still permit a driver to legally operate a commercial vehicle, potentially opening the Hoosier State to challenges, according to legal experts.
Braun said he remains adamantly committed to traffic safety, which he said includes cracking down on illegal immigrant drivers operating commercial vehicles on Indiana roads.
The governor has also ramped up speed enforcement on state expressways and US Interstate 30, Ferraro said, calling the increased police presence more visible than any other time he’s seen in his 14 years living in the region.
Ferraro said the uptick in patrols on the major roadways serves a dual purpose — ensuring that drivers are not speeding while also giving troopers opportunities to stop and inspect drivers for criminal activity and immigration violations, according to the outlet.
Indiana does not issue any type of driver’s license to illegal immigrants.
It is unclear whether the undocumented drivers are being prosecuted on any state or federal charges or whether they have been handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

[JustTheNews] Two Senate committees have obtained records from the Justice Department that show the government possessed evidence of potential prostitution-related crimes related to former first son Hunter Biden.
Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley and Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations Chairman Ron Johnson had requested the records from the Justice Department in 2022, pursuant to their investigation into alleged corrupt acts and conflicts of interest by members of the Biden family. Those requests were not answered at the time.
The Republican senators say the records – which include text messages between Hunter Biden and the women – show that the government had significant evidence of potential Mann Act violations allegedly committed by Hunter Biden from as early as October 2020.
For example, the messages show that Biden, whose father is former President Joe Biden, appeared to have purchased a flight from Los Angeles to an unknown destination for an unidentified woman in 2018.
In their September 2020 report on Hunter Biden’s business interests in Ukraine while his father was vice president, the senators pointed to evidence that the younger Biden had paid women who were citizens of Ukraine and Russia. Some of those transactions were allegedly linked to what “appears to be an Eastern European prostitution or human trafficking ring.”
The findings raised concerns about potential Mann Act violations. The Mann Act prohibits the transfer of individuals across state lines for prostitution “or for any other immoral purpose.”
The IRS investigators who were probing Hunter Biden’s tax violations also said that they found evidence of potential Mann Act violations, Just the News previously reported. One of the investigators, who later blew the whistle to Congress about alleged favoritism shown to Biden by his father’s Justice Department, testified that Hunter Biden frequently deducted expenses for prostitutes and appeared to pay for their travel across state lines.
Grassley, of Iowa said that the Justice Department’s failure to turn over the records earlier is further evidence of the favoritism shown to the then-president’s son.
“[The] DOJ and FBI possessed evidence of potential crimes, yet it’s unclear what steps they … took to fully investigate this shocking evidence,” he said in a statement shared with Just the News.
“We do know President Biden followed it up by issuing an unprecedented pardon to get his son off the hook for serious crimes. This is an affront to blind justice, and it’s especially sickening considering Hunter Biden’s actions appear to have put vulnerable women at risk,” he also said

“What is going to make the Republicans gleeful is if we’re talking about each other in the Democratic Party and not talking about the realities that Americans are facing,” Booker said.
The Garden State Democrat declined to give specifics when pressed about which leaders need to be replaced. He denied that he was talking about embattled Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York.
Last week, the DNC faced an uproar after it was pressured into releasing a draft postmortem of the Democrats’ disastrous 2024 election loss.
The draft, which was compiled by veteran Democratic strategist Paul Rivera, was riddled with typos, missing sections, incorrect data and a lack of citations.
Progressives also raged that it mentioned nothing about the Israel-Hamas conflict and barely noted widespread internal consternation about former President Joe Biden’s age.
DNC Chairman Ken Martin, who resisted pressure to disclose the findings for months, admitted the draft wasn’t “ready for primetime.”
The release created headaches for Democrats and poured fuel on the fire of already simmering frustration with DNC management.
“I am tired of all this machination about party politics. We are in a crisis right now, millions of Americans losing their health insurance, their costs skyrocketing,” Booker said.
“You can damn well be sure that I’m going to be talking about what our party needs to do to change,” he said.

The initiative will fund litigation efforts, voting-rights advocacy, economic inequality campaigns, affordable housing, childcare, healthcare and wage protections.
The move is likely to intensify criticism from conservatives, who have long maintained that Soros-backed organizations finance progressive prosecutors, immigration activism and Democratic political infrastructure nationwide.

I live in the blue state of Northern Virginia. I know a few hardcore Dem voters who work for the GIVERNment. They will never vote for a Trump or a conservative. But in conversations they will concede Trump’s approach to Border, Immigration, even major parts of foreign policy…. are positive for America. And they admit Trump is eroding Dem support for Leftist candidates. Trump gives nearly every voter a reason to vote for right of middle or conservative. What they do not like is Trump the person.
A clash of personalities and leadership styles? Perhaps they are simply jealous or envious of his business success and wealth. Everything he stands for is anathema to socialism.
Wealth, politics, success, personality, popularity; if you're leftest looking for something to hate, there's a long list.
Northern Virginia is the leftest Valhalla. Few of them want change. Fewer yet ever intend to leave it.

@3 I support and respect what Trump is doing for this country, but he is not always likable as a person. Politics is changing and not everyone likes what it has become. Trump isn't willing to let insults slide and his intelligent, but less than subtle use of social media to counter insults and to go after enemies bothers many that feel like politics & politicians were more 'dignified' in the past.

I find it impossible to listen to Levin or Hannity. I did listen to Carlson and Kelly during the period of time that they were with Trump. I actually don’t often listen to Trump or read many of his Tweets.
My focus is on the enemy within our government. Trump is the only living president that I have seen fight that enemy. I support him because of that fight. I support libs like Tulsi and RFK Jr, as well, because they are in the fight along with Trump. This fight needs to be won. That is the focus. When MTG quits and collaborates with Code Pink, I stop supporting her. In general, I don’t go back to supporting unreliable people.

or two - I usually agree with their positions on issues, it's just their delivery and persona that is off-putting;
Hopefully when Old Yeller's balls finally drop so his voice isn't as high, or Hannity's pomposity fades, that may change. One of Rush Limbaugh's talents was to keep Me nodding along or smiling while listening.

The U.S. Constitution establishes the federal district, known as the District of Columbia, under Article I, Section 8, Clause 17, which grants Congress the authority to create a seat of government that is free from state control. What was the constitutionally legal basis of the return of the two Northern Virginia counties? There was none. Time to rectify that action.
