[FoxNews] As pervasive fraud schemes continue to sweep across the U.S., a group that seeks to preserve economic freedoms at the state level says that former President Joe Biden's policies were a main driver for the proliferation of the issue.
OJ Oleka, CEO of the State Financial Officers Foundation, said "relaxed controls" during the last administration opened the door to widespread fraud and misuse of taxpayer dollars. And state treasurers are now leading the fight to strengthen oversight and reclaim funds for the American people.
"This isn't a partisan statement, but it is a true statement to say that this kind of exploded during the Biden administration," Oleka told Fox News Digital. "A lot of the controls were turned off. A lot of states who have the philosophy that ‘more government is good’ just simply turned on the spigots and allowed anybody to get access to any benefit."
Speaking from SFOF's annual conference in Clearwater, Florida, Oleka said fraud has become so deeply embedded in government programs that it's now "a feature in the system, not a bug."
[Breitbart] Several foreign-born Democrat Congresspeople went on the attack after South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace filed a resolution “proposing a constitutional amendment” that would prevent foreign-born, naturalized U.S. citizens from serving in Congress or as federal judges.
In a post on X from Wednesday, Mace pointed out that Democrat Reps. Ilhan Omar, Shri Thanedar, and Pramila Jayapal, are “all born in foreign countries, none were citizens by birth,” and added, “All sitting in the United States Congress. All making clear every single day their loyalty is not to America.”
In response, several Democrats quickly went on the attack against Mace’s plan. In particular, three foreign-born Democrats rushed to make their own statements to denounce Mace as “xenophobic” and “immoral.”
Democrat Squad member and Washington State Democrat Pramila Jayapal — born in Chennai (formerly Madras), India — called Mace’s resolution “xenophobic” and said her naturalization ceremony was “one of the most meaningful days of my life.”
“This narrow-minded, xenophobic legislation has no place in Congress, and I call on all my colleagues — including my Republican colleagues who are naturalized citizens — to condemn this,” Jayapal railed.
New Delhi, India-born Illinois Democrat Raja Krishnamoorthi, who was first elected to Congress out of the Chicago area in 20017, posted a video to social media calling Mace “immoral” and “un-American” for her proposal.
“We all need to stand shoulder-to-shoulder against this utterly unacceptable and un-American resolution,” he exclaimed.
It was a negotiating point, guys. Having rules mandating security checks is not a bad thing.

[Red State] Somewhere, Ron DeSantis has got to be sitting back, booted feet propped on his desk, laughing and smoking a cigar at what has been playing out in Florida's 20th Congressional District. The new map, if it survives the current court challenges, could potentially net them another four seats in the upcoming midterm elections.
One of the districts impacted was District 25, which longtime Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz currently represents. That district will be far more GOP-friendly under the new map, so Wasserman Schultz had a decision to make.
Speculation had been swirling for weeks that Wasserman Schultz would switch districts and run for the open seat in District 20, the one formerly held by disgraced now-former Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D). But that district is one of those majority minority ones, and several black Democrats who already declared their intentions to run for it openly warned the former Democrat National Committee Chairwoman off of it.
She didn't listen, and on Friday, she made it official that she intends to run in District 20 - complete with a framed poster of former President Barack Obama in the background, of course:

Citing data that over 90 percent of LA’s unsheltered homeless population consists of hardcore illicit drug users, Pratt argues that current "housing-first" approaches, free needles, and repeated Narcan revivals enable addiction rather than end it. His plan emphasizes mandatory treatment using existing laws and ordinances, enforcement, repatriation, cartel crackdowns, and long-term recovery support. Here are the five points of Pratt’s plan, with Pratt’s comments:
STEP ONE: Break the Cycle Pratt calls for immediately halting the distribution of drug paraphernalia by NGOs and replacing short-acting Narcan with longer-lasting Vivitrol after the statutory hold. He highlights the critical "donut hole" period between Narcan’s short-term effect and Vivitrol eligibility as the key intervention point. "Stop the cycle. You wouldn’t let him defecate and die in the streets. You’d grab him... No more distribution of drug paraphernalia by NGOs... Replace Narcan with Vivitrol... This donut hole is the linchpin for winning this war against addiction."
STEP TWO: We Have the Laws — We Just Need to Use Them Pratt plans to fully utilize existing LA ordinances and laws, including amending and enforcing SB 43 to classify severe substance use disorder as "gravely disabled." This enables mandatory 5150 psychiatric holds (72 hours) for detention and evaluation, extendable treatment periods of up to two weeks (to bridge the Narcan-to-Vivitrol gap), and conservatorship for up to a year if needed—all framed as mandatory rehab, not incarceration. "Common-sense law amending SB 43 to classify severe drug users as gravely disabled... This law allows the city and county to place street drug users on a 5150 hold... This isn’t jail. This is mandatory rehab. This is what you do for people you care about."
STEP THREE: End the Body Brokering Pratt accuses certain NGOs of trafficking addicts from other states into LA to exploit funds. He proposes providing free transportation home for the estimated 30 percent or more of street addicts who were bused in from out of state, "Bused in from other states in order for local NGOs to profit off their addiction... As soon as I am Mayor, every addict who was trafficked here from outside LA is getting a free ride home, back to their families... End the body brokering."
STEP FOUR: Bring in the DEA Pratt pledges to partner with federal authorities to dismantle transnational cartels operating openly in tents, abandoned buildings, and Section 8 housing, flooding streets with fentanyl and meth. "Dismantle the rampant transnational cartels that are terrorizing our city... There’s a new Sheriff in town... We cannot solve a drug problem with more overpriced housing scams."
STEP FIVE: A Modern Treatment Facility Pratt has partnered with developers to construct a large, secure treatment campus offering medical detox, job training, exercise facilities, and "civil rehab" through community service to rebuild purpose and skills. "I’m putting an end to this profiteering... A modern treatment facility... Beyond drug treatment, addicts will receive job training... We don’t have a housing problem, we have a drug problem. Blocking them is the drugs." Video at link. It is very watchable. Imagine a common sense approach to homelessness instead of the profit motives of Karen Bass and her fellow corruptocrats.

Of course there's no money in it. That's the appeal to taxpayers who might be wondering where all the billions went. The challenge for Pratt is to somehow make those taxpayers/voters think about it. Yes, it's a big challenge. Bass is an entrenched, old school Bolshevik with a helluva lotta money in her war chest and the media in her purse. But it's nice to see somebody give it a try.

AFIK, nobody has even tried to treat fentanyl addiction. Politicians like Bass prefer to give them clean syringes and pipes. They don't mind if addicts die every day because new ones come here from other states. As long as Bass can keep funnelling billions of taxpayer dollars to bogus programs like Inside Safe she'll keep doing that.
