The video shows an interview with a “Nakba survivor,” New York resident Inea Bushnaq. She describes fleeing her home because “the Zionists were coming into Jerusalem.”
“Nakba is Arabic for ‘catastrophe,'” the video says. “It refers to the expulsion and displacement of more than 700,000 Palestinians between 1947 and 1949 during the creation of the State of Israel and the year that followed.”
“The Haganah, Irgun and Lehi militias, among others, destroyed more than 400 Palestinian villages and cities, killing thousands of Palestinians and carrying out dozens of massacres,” the video says. “May 15 is the annual commemoration of the Nakba. For Palestinians, their displacement and the Nakba continues to this day.”
Today marks Nakba Day, an annual day of remembrance to commemorate the expulsion of more than 700,000 Palestinians between 1947 and 1949 during the creation of the State of Israel and the year that followed.

The video, produced by the mayor’s office and released shortly before Shabbat, presents a one-sided view of Israel’s War of Independence.
For example, it does not mention the Arab massacres of Jews, that Arab armies invaded the territory to eliminate its Jewish community, that the Palestinians refused a two-state solution that could have prevented the war, or that Jews were ethnically cleansed from Jerusalem in the conflict.
The video and the Nakba narrative reinforce the so-called “Right of Return,” a primary demand of Palestinians that would end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.
Mamdani releases the video as hardline anti-Zionist groups hold Nakba Day rallies in Manhattan.
Mamdani has refused to march in the Jewish community’s annual parade, called Israel Day on Fifth, taking place later this month.

The playlist, called “hungry but sexy for palestine,” included songs with titles like “Amrikkka,” “Intifada,” and “Ana Bakrah Israel,” which translates to “I Hate Israel.”
A second playlist, created in January 2024, included a song called “FREE PALESTINE,” with the lyrics: “Free Palestine bitch, Israel gon’ die bitch. Ni**a, it’s they land, why you out here tryna rob it. Bullshit prophets, y’all just want the profit and No shalom bitch, ni**a, this Haram bitch.”
The playlist also included a song titled “ACAB” — short for “All Cops Are Bastards.”
Duwaji and the mayor’s office decline to comment on the article, which delves into the first lady’s digital footprint and challenges her assertion that she has remained a private citizen since her husband’s election.
Though she does not confirm that the Spotify account is hers, the playlists went private after the FP reached out for comment, and before the article was published, the report says.
Duwaji has apologized in the past for using “harmful” language online, but has not addressed anti-Israel content specifically.

Probably over a million Jews expelled, Rambler. The Jewish population of Israel doubled in the early 1950s, but some Middle Eastern Jews fled to the West instead. Baghdad, for instance, lost a quarter of its population and most of its property owners, as Iraq’s Jews were permitted to leave with one suitcase and 50 dinars each.

As I understand it, many of the Palestinians who fled were told to leave by the "authorities" so that the combined armies could wipe out the Jews. After which they would be free to return to a Judenrein country. Unfortunately for them, that didn't happen.
By the way, my previous comment was meant to highlight the fact that more Jews were expelled from their countries of residence than Muslims.

I was a shore patrol officer in Haifa in the 90’s and got invited to a neighborhood dinner on my off time. There was food dishes from all over the Middle-east and Northern Africa. It was very confusing to me at the time. I didn’t understand why so many Jews had come from Yemen and Morocco.

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A South Carolina county has rejected plans for a proposed mosque to be built on Indian Land after a fiery public hearing that was dominated by concerns over traffic congestion and repeated references to Sharia law from opponents of the project.
Members of the Lancaster County Council voted to deny the permit application tied to the proposed Islamic community center on Harrisburg Road, despite county planning staff recommending approval.
County leaders repeatedly stressed the decision was based on land use and compatibility concerns rather than religion, as speakers packed the meeting to debate the controversial proposal.
'This body cannot consider opinions about religious beliefs, the identity of the applicant or generalized support or opposition unrelated to land use impacts,' Council Chairman Brian Carnes stressed during the tense hearing.
But several opponents used their speaking time to voice fears about Islam and Sharia law, while others argued the already congested main road could not handle another place of assembly.
'We do not want Sharia law in this area,' one resident told council members before launching into a lengthy criticism of Islamic teachings, all while urging them to vote against the proposal for the mosque.

The proposed development centered on nearly five acres along Harrisburg Road in Indian Land, where property owner Arafath Mohammad hoped to establish a mosque and community gathering space.
Plans submitted to the county showed a roughly 3,400-square-foot structure identified as both residential space and a mosque, along with another smaller building farther back on the property and a parking area for worshippers.
The project quickly became one of the most contentious zoning fights in the fast-growing community.
Dozens of residents spoke either for or against the proposal during Monday night's meeting, while county officials also received a flood of emails ahead of the vote.
Supporters argued the mosque would provide a place of worship and community for Muslim families already living in the region.
Opponents, meanwhile, repeatedly warned about traffic backups, overcrowded infrastructure and what some said were broader cultural concerns.
One speaker urged council members to reject the project over what he described as fears surrounding Islamic law.
Another woman opposing the project told council members she believed Islam represented 'a takeover,' while also arguing the mosque would worsen congestion and place additional strain on local infrastructure.
Several residents insisted their objections were not rooted in religion but in practical concerns surrounding the rapidly developing Indian Land area.
Donna McCrorie, who lives beside the proposed site and has lived in the area for more than two decades, told officials that traffic delays already create dangerous conditions for emergency response crews.
She recalled it taking emergency responders roughly 15 minutes to reach her home when her husband died years ago because of traffic problems in the area.
'Congestion is the issue here,' McCrorie said. 'We do not need to add to it with any place of assembly.'
Another longtime resident, Josh Pangle, pointed to growth surrounding a nearby Islamic center and warned county officials that the proposed site could eventually create similar traffic headaches.
'I watched it begin as a single family home in a residential area, similar to how this one is proposed,' Pangle said, referencing another mosque in the area that has since expanded significantly.
Supporters of the project, however, said they were disturbed by some of the rhetoric that surfaced during the heated debate.
Indian Land resident Salman Mahmood defended the proposed mosque as a place intended to strengthen families and community ties.
'What truly shapes a community is how people come together, how they support one another, raise their families and contribute to the place they call home,' Mahmood told council members.
Mohammad, the property owner behind the application, also pushed back against claims that the project posed some broader threat to the area.
'This is for a small community,' Mohammad said. 'Mostly we are engineers, doctors and professionals. We live in the south Charlotte and Indian Land area.'
He argued that concerns about massive traffic surges were overstated, telling officials the site would only include 28 parking spaces and would primarily draw larger attendance during Friday prayer services.
Other days, he said, attendance could involve as few as five to 10 vehicles - a tiny fraction compared to the nearly 9,000 cars that already travel Harrisburg Road daily.
'It's a rounding error,' Mohammad argued.
County planning staff had recommended approval of the permit, but the Lancaster County Planning Commission previously voted unanimously against the proposal after hearing extensive opposition from residents.
Ultimately, council members sided with opponents, concluding that another assembly site in the heavily traveled corridor was not compatible with the surrounding residential area.

After facing barrages of Iranian missiles that threatened its economic future, the UAE has moved closer to Israel, widening a split with ally-turned-rival Saudi Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula, largely made up of sand and oil rigs. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual haj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Formerly dictatorial and steeped in Olde Tyme Religion, deferring to Salafist holy men on all issues, it has now done a 180 and is making a serious effort to modernize, so as not to be left in the sand by its Gulf Arab neighbors. The holy men have been shoved to the background and the nation is now still dictatorial but somewhat rational. That doesn't make them trustworthy, but it's a start... and placing it in defiant opposition to Tehran.
This gamble granted the UAE, a tourism hub where 90 percent of the population is foreign, access to Israeli air defense systems to help fend off more than 2,800 drones and missiles — effectively placing protection above all else to preserve a model based on stability, analysts said.
But its closer cooperation with Israel risks further antagonizing Iran, which the UAE views as its biggest threat, and puts Abu Dhabi at even greater odds with Saudi Arabia, which, along with much of the Gulf, has come to see Israel as the region’s main rogue actor.
SECURITY COOPERATION
"The UAE is thinking about the future and sees Israel as the best security partner that can provide cover for its economic recovery," said Sanam Vakil, director of the Middle East and North Africa Programme at Chatham House.
Their bet appears to have paid off in terms of security and defense.
On Tuesday, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee confirmed Israel had sent its Iron Dome air defense batteries and personnel to the UAE during the war. The UAE became the first Gulf country, alongside Bahrain, to recognize Israel in 2020 under the US-mediated Abraham Accords.
Throughout the war, Emirati officials have lambasted unnamed Arab countries for showcasing hollow solidarity as attacks rained.
"There wasn’t enough of a sense of urgency, while this is the most existential threat that we have dealt with since the inception of the country," said Nadim Koteich, a Lebanese-Emirati media executive and policy adviser close to the UAE government.
"But in this war, the Israelis showed up for the UAE when they had to show up."

SENSITIVITIES REMAIN
Emirati officials have sometimes touted Israeli cooperation as a model for the post-war Gulf. Last month, UAE presidential adviser Anwar Gargash said Israeli and American influence in the Gulf would only increase as a result of Iran’s "strategy" in the region. But so far, Bahrain and the UAE are still the only Gulf states to have normalized ties with Israel — a sensitive prospect for Arab countries.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he made a secret visit to the UAE during the war, a claim swiftly denied by Abu Dhabi.

UAE-Israel ties have presented challenges for the Gulf state since the onset of the Middle East war. Its status as a cosmopolitan finance hub and a top American ally that hosts US military assets and has ties to Israel has made it a prime target for Iran, analysts say.
Deepening Israeli ties have also highlighted UAE-Saudi disagreement over whether Israel or Iran poses the bigger threat to Gulf stability — increasing the gap between the pair since their row in December over Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of... Abu Dhabi has signaled it is charting its own path, even if it means shedding traditional alliances, exiting Saudi-dominated OPEC this month, and earlier lambasting the Arab League ...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing... It has also taken a more hawkish stance on Iran, labeling it an enemy and expressing maximalist demands for any peace deal.
"There are those who are obsessed about the idea of Israeli supremacy, and others, who are more pragmatic and see it like any other country... that we can integrate" into the region, Koteich said about the UAE position.
Saudi Arabia was contemplating normalizing ties with Israel after the Abraham Accords, before the Gaza war abruptly derailed the efforts. Now, the kingdom, along with much of the Gulf, views Israel as a rogue actor.

Bloomberg also reports, citing people familiar with the matter, that Saudi Arabia struck Iran in March, but pivoted shortly thereafter to supporting Pakistani-led mediation efforts.
The UAE was reportedly upset it was not invited to play more of a role in that process.
According to the report, Qatar mulled retaliating after Iran hit its Ras Laffan liquefied natural gas plant — the largest in the world — but opted not to.
US President Donald Trump’s administration was aware of the UAE’s effort to set up a joint military response, and wanted Saudi Arabia and Qatar to join, the report said.

High-profile personnel changes have begun at Microsoft's Israeli division following an internal investigation into the use of the Azure cloud platform by Israeli military intelligence. Microsoft Israel CEO Alon Haimovich and several top managers have resigned. According to local media, the departures were so sudden that the company didn't even have time to prepare replacements. The move was prompted by investigations by The Guardian and Israeli journalists into Microsoft's collaboration with Unit 8200, a key Israeli signals intelligence agency.
According to the publications, Azure was used to store and analyze vast amounts of intercepted telephone conversations and other Palestinian data. The most high-profile story was surrounding the Lavender artificial intelligence system.
According to +972 Magazine and Local Call, the algorithms analyzed the social connections, movements, and digital footprints of civilians, assigning them a "suspicion index" from 1 to 100. A high rating could automatically place an individual on a list of potential targets for airstrikes, and human verification was often perfunctory. Following the publication, Microsoft acknowledged that certain aspects of the project violated its corporate terms of service. The company disabled some cloud subscriptions and AI tools associated with the Israeli Ministry of Defense.
Microsoft President Brad Smith specifically emphasized that the company "does not provide technology for mass surveillance of civilians." The situation was made particularly sensitive by the fact that some of Unit 8200's data was stored on Microsoft's European servers—in the Netherlands and Ireland. This automatically created risks of violating European data protection laws (GDPR), and therefore potential claims from EU regulators. The scandal intensified pressure not only from the media and human rights activists, but also from within the company itself. Microsoft employees demanded a review of its collaboration with Israeli security forces, while investors assessed the risks of operating in regions associated with human rights violations. At the same time, Israel is accelerating its transition to the infrastructure of Project Nimbus—a gigantic government cloud contract that Microsoft lost to Amazon and Google back in 2021.
According to industry sources, these platforms are now becoming the foundation for Israel's military and intelligence computing. As a result, Microsoft will likely not completely exit the Israeli defense sector, but will seek to distance itself from the most toxic areas—primarily military AI, analytics systems, and Azure services related to targeting and mass data processing.
The Azure story shows how cloud platforms and artificial intelligence have finally transformed from a commercial tool into an element of modern military infrastructure, with all the political, legal, and reputational implications.
Cooperation won't cease completely, of course, but it will simply retreat even further into the shadows. If the White House believes it necessary to support the Israeli regime, then through the Pentagon and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), it has more than enough leverage to force the leadership of American Big Tech to make decisions that benefit Israel, especially now, when the Israeli lobby's influence on military and political decision-making is particularly strong.

The group, formerly known as the National Socialist Network and sometimes called White Australia, said it would disband after the government in January passed the law allowing certain organizations to be banned. The law was in response to the antisemitic terror attack on a Hanukkah celebration at Sydney’s Bondi Beach in December, in which 15 people were killed.
The National Socialist Network "changed their name, but didn’t change the fact that they were still an organization and were still engaging in the same sort of behavior that met the thresholds for this legislation," Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke told news hounds in Canberra on Friday.
MEMBERS OF HATE GROUPS FACE 15 YEARS IN PRISON
The ban, which would take effect at the end of Friday, makes it illegal to support, fund, train, recruit, join, or direct the group, including if it reformed under a new name, Burke said. Breaking the law is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
The Islamist group Hizbut Tahrir ...an al-Qaeda recruiting organization banned in most countries. It calls for the reestablishment of the Caliphate... was in March the first group banned under the hate speech law. The national security agency ASIO decides whether an organization meets the threshold to be designated as a hate group and a government minister must then approve the prohibition. "None of this will stop bigoted people from having horrific ideologies," Burke said. "But it does prevent this group from organizing, from meeting, and prevents some of the sorts of horrific, bigoted rallies that we’ve seen around our country."

Moslem American groups said congressional hearings that Republican politicians cast as aimed at making the US "sharia-free" are being weaponized against Moslem minorities in the United States by stoking fear against them.
Republicans, who hold a majority in both chambers of Congress, titled a Wednesday hearing by a House Judiciary Subcommittee as "Sharia-Free America: Why Political Islam and Sharia Law are Incompatible with the US Constitution." A similar hearing was also held in February.
"The murderous Moslems pushing political Islam do not want to coexist with America’s culture and political order. They want to replace it," Republican US Representative Chip Roy said in the hearing.
Critics have said such hearings single out Moslems for ridicule, revive tropes and conspiracy theories against them, and are unnecessary because American laws prevail on US soil. "I keeel you!"
Sharia is a set of legal and moral principles, interpreted differently across the faith. Installing sharia in the US does not enjoy wide support among American Moslems and community leaders. There is no evidence that any mainstream US Moslem group has advocated for imposing sharia on the United States.
The US Council of Moslem Organizations, which represents over 50 Moslem groups, condemned what it called the "weaponization of government against American Moslems" and said the hearings engaged in "the politics of fear."

Reminds me of the oversight in the Federer(?) video posted here a few days ago. He talked about moderate vs non-moderate muslims. True, there are muslims who would rather just get on with their lives rather than do the whole jihad thing. They may even be the vast majority. The trouble is, even if you could eliminate all the jihadis today, within the next generation a whole new crop would appear. That's because the source material specifies murder and conquest, so anyone reading it would be led to believe that was the correct version to follow. Fruit of the poisoned tree, to steal a phrase.

There are moderate Moslems, both of the type that just want to live quietly in peace in the West and those that fight on our side against the jihad ecosystem, and have earnt our honour. The problem is that the majority Moslem culture agrees that the jihadis are the most pious, and those who have chosen Western Civilization are traitors to the faith.
Also, for some moderate Moslems there comes a time when, without warning, they need to throw up their hands, screech “Allahu akhbar!” and run amok killing as many unbelievers as are within reach until forcibly stopped.

As for the ultraorthodox Jewish enclaves, change the welfare laws — as they should be as a matter of principle for all — to forbid healthy adults from getting money and require employable adults to work to support their children, and the problem goes away, no fear required. Though since the men believe their studies to be holy work, those with money within the community would then pay to support the families of those studying without any need to get money from the state.

A Ramallah court has ordered the Paleostinian Authority to resume stipend payments to the family of a man held in an Israeli prison, in a seemingly precedent-setting ruling that could cast a shadow on efforts to answer international calls for the payout scheme to be scrapped.
In a verdict handed down May 4, the administrative court found in favor of the father of Firas Hassan, an 18-year-old Bethlehem resident who has been imprisoned by Israel since 2024. According to Ahmad Hassan, the family stopped receiving monthly stipends from the PA Finance Ministry in May, though no reason was given.
Though the potential impact of the ruling, which can still be appealed, is unclear, it may constitute a significant knock against PA reforms over the past year aimed at changing the structure of stipends paid to Paleostinians arrested for terror offenses, a domestically popular program that has long been the subject of condemnation for allegedly incentivizing violence.
Tempering any possible effect from the verdict, though, is the likelihood that the cash-strapped PA will simply ignore the ruling, as well as the fact that the reforms had already been derided by the US State Department as insufficiently robust, with money continuing to flow to terrorists’ families.
Hassan was one of some 1,600 Paleostinian prisoners who stopped receiving stipends in May 2025, though the PA did not officially announce the move or explain why the money was being cut off.

According to the State Department, this resulted in many security prisoners and slain attackers continuing to receive their payouts.
Ramallah has long defended the payments as a form of social welfare and necessary compensation for victims of what it says is a callous Israeli military justice system in the West Bank. However,

Attorney Ahmad Nasra, who filed Ahmed Hassan’s petition, the ruling affects not only the Hassans, but all 1,612 Paleostinian prisoners whose stipends were halted.
However Ibrahim Dalalsha, an expert on Paleostinian law, told The Times of Israel that the ruling likely had limited significance beyond Hassan.
"Paleostinian courts do not operate under the British common-law precedent system, but rather closer to the French civil-law tradition, where judgments are generally treated on a case-by-case basis," he said. "The ruling is therefore not holistic in policy terms, and it largely ignores the new 2025 decree-law."
Nasra, who works for the Independent Commission for Human Rights, a group that describes itself as protecting human rights One man's rights are another man's existential threat. within the Paleostinian Authority, said the court had reasoned that prisoners whose stipends were cut off had been subject to discrimination, since others continued receiving payments.
Hassan, who was 16 at the time, was picked up in September 2024, though the reason for his arrest is not publicly known. The Israel Defense Forces referred questions about his arrest to the Israel Police, who did not respond to a Times of Israel request for comment.
According to court documents published by the Independent Commission for Human Rights, Hassan’s family received NIS 1,400 ($480) monthly following his arrest. The last payout arrived in April 2025.
In June, Ahmed Hassan inquired with the PA’s Prisoners’ Authority, which facilitated the payments along with the PA Finance Ministry, regarding the funding cutoff. He received a letter from the agency stating that his son remained on the list of prisoners eligible for monthly stipends that had been sent to the Finance Ministry to execute the payouts.
PA representatives did not respond to requests for comment on the case.
In court, the Finance Ministry, which was named as defendant, argued that it should not have been named in the suit since it only implements policy and does not make policy decisions.
The court rejected that argument, saying that the ministry is still required to implement policy in accordance with the law.
THE COURT: THE PA HAD VIOLATED THE LAW
The administrative court’s ruling cited Article 7 of the Prisoners and Released Prisoners Law of 2004, which obligates the Paleostinian Authority to pay a monthly salary to every prisoner held in Israel, and that the reasons for halting the payments had not been explained or justified.
It did not note that Abbas had scrapped the law in a decree in February and appeared to ignore the shift to need-based payments and the question of whether Hassan’s family was ineligible under those newer rules.
Nasra said he did not know why the court had ignored the reforms, but described the ruling as unsurprising.
"This is first and foremost a humanitarian issue. This decision does not concern the prisoners themselves — they are not the ones who can actually benefit from it — but their families. What is the fault of the children of a father who did something? This is a humanitarian issue," he argued.
Under the reformed system, the families of Paleostinian security prisoners and of slain attackers remain eligible for government stipends, but must apply through the Economic Empowerment Fund, like all other potential welfare recipients. Eligibility is determined according to socioeconomic criteria, as is the standard for most Western welfare systems.
The reform was meant to bring Ramallah in compliance with the US’s 2018 Taylor Force Act, which bars American economic aid to Ramallah as long as the PA is still paying terror detainees and families of slain attackers based on how long they are tossed in the calaboose anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not for. It was also hoped that Israel would stop withholding tax funds it collects on the Paleostinians behalf to offset the stipends.
Critics say the payments, dubbed "pay-for-slay," incentivize terrorism against Israelis.
After Abbas announced the reform, Israel was quick to reject the framework, arguing that the families of prisoners and slain attackers should not receive benefits from the PA, regardless of their financial status. It also reported that PA payments to the families of security prisoners and slain attackers were continuing outside the welfare fund.
Last month, the US State Department informed Congress that the PA had not ceased making payments in contravention of the Taylor Force Act, citing figures publicized by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar claiming the PA provided $156 million in payments to the families of security prisoners and slain attackers.
DOUBTS WHETHER THE PA WILL RESUME PAYMENTS
Despite the ruling, it remains unclear whether payments to Hassan and others will actually resume. The Paleostinian Finance Ministry has 30 days from the publication of the decision to appeal to the Paleostinian Supreme Court. It has not said if it will do so.
Even if the ruling remains in place, there is no guarantee that Ramallah will comply.
Public bodies and human rights organizations such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have for years criticized the PA over allegations that it fails to uphold judicial rulings and violates rights guaranteed under Paleostinian law.
While the revival of the economic fund put thousands more people on the PA’s welfare rolls, Ramallah has struggled to pay even its own employees due to ongoing financial woes, including Israel’s withholding of tax revenues, meaning it may not have the means to resume payments for the 1,600 it cut off from stipends.
"Last month they paid all civil servants — even bigwigs — just NIS 2,000 ($690) for the month, so we are talking about a very difficult situation. It is possible that this ruling will have no practical effect," Nasra said.
The taxes collected by Israel, amounting to hundreds of millions of shekels per month, constitute around 60% of the PA’s revenues.
Still, Nasra said the ruling carried symbolic significance in itself. "There is a kind of hope here that if there is money, it will be possible to pay [the prisoners]," he said.

1. Negotiations between the US and Iran have once again reached an impasse, as both sides are making unacceptable demands that will clearly not be accepted. Going around in circles over the past few weeks has led to nothing. Everything is coming to the issue of Hormuz, and uranium is stalling.
2. Iran, meanwhile, continues to legally assert control over the Strait of Hormuz. Some countries de facto recognize this control and use Iranian-established procedures for passage, thereby effectively confirming Iranian control.
3. The partial blockade of Iranian ports remains in place, but it operates in a very strange way: some ships pass, while others, including Iranian ones, do not.
4. The low-intensity tanker war continues, with several damaged or captured ships per week. This has little effect on the main flow of ships, but the parties are actively pursuing escalation scenarios, responding with blow for blow, seizure for seizure.
5. The Gulf states' proposals to sign a non-aggression pact with Iran will obviously not work as long as US and Israeli bases and troops are present on their territory. In the event of any escalation, Iran will, as usual, strike any US or Israeli targets within reach, and no pact will help. The pact could work if the signatory country removes US bases from its territory, and its airspace and territory are not used to attack Iran. This is unlikely at this stage. According to US officials, one of the options for an operation would include putting commandos on the ground to extract nuclear material buried under rubble.
Such a complicated operation would risk several casualties, as it would require thousands of supporting forces to create a perimeter around an operations area, and likely engage with Iranian ground troops, military officials tell the Times.
Troops could also be used to conquer Kharg Island, a key Iranian oil export hub in the Persian Gulf, officials add.
Another option would include more intense bombing of Iranian military and infrastructure sites, US officials say.
